Forever Love.
Ch. 17.
Edward.
Taylor's been here for two days so far, and everyone has spent time getting to know him. It took about a day for the shock to wear off. I'd heard of Hanson, but never paid much attention to their music till Bella started playing it around the house.
It's good stuff I'll admit and I was surprised to learn they started as kids, singing around the dinner table.
"Hey Edward, can Taylor play your piano?" Becca asks, breaking into my thoughts.
"Sure." I reply, getting up to follow her into the music room. I want to hear this. Taking a seat on the couch, I watch him sit at my piano, and Becca sits beside him, her violin propped on her shoulder.
He starts playing a melody I don't know, but it's beautiful. She joins in adding the violin to play in harmony with him. They play several songs, the harmonies blending perfectly.
Becca trades her violin for her flute and he pulls a guitar across his lap. By this time, everyone has joined us in the room.
Jasper..
Almost as one the family moves into the music room, curious about the music we are hearing. I know the violin is Becca, but the piano could be any of us, though it's most likely Edward since he plays it better then anyone else. Save for Becca herself.
Imagine my surprise when it's not Edward but Taylor playing. Edward is already in the room, listening. As I perch on the arm of the chair, I take a moment to take in the room's emotional climate.
Awe and admiration are the main ones. Becca feels happiness and love as she begins another tune now on her flute. Not surprising to me, since I know her passion for music runs deep. I turn my focus to Taylor as he joins her, but with a guitar.
I care about Becca. She's more then a sister to me for reasons I still am not sure about. She stops playing, letting Taylor play by himself. I can feel that his passion for music runs as deep as Becca's.
"Me Myself and I." Taylor says, handing Becca his guitar. She grins at him as she takes the wooden insturment. He turns back to the piano, and begins playing.
"It must be the end of the road. It must be the end of you and I. And forever too. Walking the last bridge alone. We've given up on the good times. And the bad we knew." Taylor sings, his voice soulful.
"When I'm alone in a cold, dark room. Well there's still someone, that I can tell my troubles to. Me, myself, and I will never be alone. We'll find a way to get along. And we'll be fine. When all that's left is me, myself, and I." Becca sings, sadness rings in her voice.
"Myself and I will never be alone. We will find a way to get along. And we'll be fine. When all that's left is me, myself, and I.
When did it start getting old? When did it stop being worth the time just to see it through? I don't wanna get used to 'It's over'. We've already said too much, to make it new." They both sing, their voices blending together in a harmony that's just amazing.
"When I'm alone in a cold, dark room. Well there's still someone, that I can tell my troubles to. Me, myself, and I will never be alone. We'll find a way to get along. And we'll be fine. When all that's left is me, myself, and I."
"Myself and I will never be alone. We will find a way to get along. And we'll be fine. When all that's left is me, myself, and I.
Well it's hard to see you don't belong to me. 'Cause I gave you the best part of my life. Well, I tried to be everything that you want me to be. But I don't have to give you reasons why. When all that's left is me, myself, and I."
"I'm not gonna try to forget. Maybe happiness is worth the chance of a bitter end? 'Cus here at the end of the road. I don't really care who is right. I'll give you the last word tonight."
" 'Cause me, myself, and I will never be alone. We'll find a way to get along. And we'll be fine. When all that's left is me, myself, and I.
Myself and I will never be alone. We will find a way to get along. And we'll be fine. When all that's left is me, myself, and I." They finish together, and as the last note fades, the applause begins.
Bella.
The song Becca and Taylor sang was beautiful. But the words and melody I know. It's a song from Hanson's most recent album 'Shout it Out.'
"That's not the version I know." I state, curious.
"Nope. The version Becca and I just did is how the song was written, but not how it appears on the album." Taylor answers.
"Actually Zac and I wrote it. I was sad, so Zac took me to the studio and put me in front of a piano, I wrote the melody and he wrote the words." Becca continues explaining.
"When Isaac and I heard it, immediately we wanted to put it on the record we were working on."
"Can I hear you guys do 'I Will Come to You'?" I ask. Both smile and nod. I love that song. Taylor takes the guitar and Becca turns to face the piano.
Taylor counts under his breath and begins playing. They play the song, singing it together.
"Anymore requests?" Becca asks when they finish.
Two days later.
Taylor.
Well it's been a fun four days, but it's time for me to leave. Becca's family accepted me a lot easier then we thought they would, especially after the afternoon in the music room.
"Must you go Daddy?" Phi's voice asks.
"Only for a little while munchkin. I'll see you at the concert." I tell my daughter, giving her a hug.
"Okay. I wish Mommy would move back to Oklahoma, so we could all be together like we were after Papa Caius died." she says, tears in her voice. Becca appears next to us, no doubt having heard our conversation.
I have Phi in my arms, so Becca wraps her arms around us both, sandwiching Phi between us.
"After the concert, I will. Your Dad and I need to talk it over with Mama Natalie first, okay sweetie." Becca assures her, and Phi turns so she can hug her mother.
"Okay Mommy." Phi agrees. Becca and I share a look. She knows as well as I do that Natalie won't mind. I know she misses Becca too.
"Ready?" Felix asks, as he is taking me to the airport. I've already said goodbye to everyone else.
"Be good for your mother munchkin." I tell Phi, kissing the top of her head.
"Love you." I tell Becca, giving her a kiss.
"Love you too." she tells me when I pull away.
A.N. This story is FICTION. I don't own Twilight, nor do I own or know Hanson. Up next is a peak at the past.
