Chapter Three: Tears of Separation

*Larraine's p.o.v*

Hi, I'm Larraine! I'm Anthony's girlfriend and the daughter of the Vermillion City Gym Leader, Lt. Surge. Anthony and I have known each other since we were little kids. It was at summer camp and Anthony's now lost brother, Napoleon, met me on the bus. Since then, we've been great friends. I'm a little on the short side for a girl my age (eighteen), have amber eyes, short-cut blonde hair, and I wear glasses. Most people at school always mocked me because of them (especially Anthony's bully, Johnson) but Anthony says they make me cuter then I already was. 3 Anthony and I have established our relationship since last year and we see each other almost every week. He's so good to me. He takes me out to the movies, dinner and many more places. I can't imagine my life without him!

Anyways, I was on the city bus traveling to Anthony's home town, Celadon City. It was 3 o'clock in the evening and the weather was perfect! It wasn't too hot but not too cold. Anthony and I made a date to go shopping at the shopping center (Celadon's most famous aspect). The bus stopped just near the park and Anthony's house was just two blocks down the road. I walked down the road towards the small house located near the city's borders with the woods close to Anthony's backyard. It was a cute, blue house with a small garden of red roses. Anthony's mother, Lily, was just outside the house standing nervously like a deer in a lion's den. Fear and worry clouded her brown eyes. "Hi, Lily,'' I said starting to get concerned.

"Oh, hi, Larraine,'' she replied trying to smile a small smile. "Something bad has happened. It's about Anthony.'' My eyes widened in fear and my heart felt like it stopped for a second.

"What's happened?'' I asked quickly.

"Anthony fainted at school for some unexplained reason,'' Lily answered getting more worried. "But after he was taken to the school nurse's office, he vanished without a trace!'' I was perplexed. How does an unconscious person disappear like that? "I was about to drive to Anthony's school when I got the news of his disappearance.'' Lily's eyes started to moisten but she tried to hold back to tears. "I-I don't know what could've happened to him! First, my husband dies. Then, Napoleon gets kidnapped. And now, Anthony disappears!'' She fell to her knees with her hands over her eyes sobbing. "I can't all this loss in my life! If I really lose Anthony for good, I'll just…just…''

"Lily, calm down,'' I said getting down to her level.

"How can I stay calm at a time like this?!'' Lily shrieked eyes flowing with tears.

"The police are investigating this aren't they?'' I inquired further.

"W-well yes but…"Lily responded.

"Try to remain positive,'' I said encouragingly. "I'm sure there's an explanation for all this as strange as it sounds. Don't give up hope.''

"I-I'll try,'' Lily said quietly as she dried her eyes.

"Good,'' I said smiling. "Want me to keep you company?''

"Yes, please,'' Lily said. "You're such a sweet girl, Larraine.'' I giggled at the compliment as I helped Lily up and we made our way to her house. Even though I was keeping Lily calm, I was just as worried as her. How could Anthony have disappeared like that? There's got to be a reason for this.

*Anthony's p.o.v*

It was the middle of the night. I was sleeping soundly when a strange dream came to me. I was in a rainbow-colored room. It was a beautiful, albeit strange, sight. I felt a feeling of overwhelming peace like I was in heaven. "Where am I?'' I asked no one in particular. Suddenly, a ghostly, feminine figure appeared in the distance. "What's that?'' I approached the figure. "Do I know this person? I'm not sure…It sure doesn't FEEL familiar.'' Then, the dream just…ended.

The next morning, I woke up. "That dream was so…strange,'' I commented.

"What dream?'' Squirtle asked as he, Riolu and Zorua entered the base surprising me.

"Uh…nothing,'' I said nervously. My friends raised their eyebrows quizzically at my shyness. They wouldn't understand, I thought. I'll just keep the dream to myself for now.

"Anyways, we've got a rescue request,'' Riolu said raising an opened letter.

"What's the request?'' I asked intrigued.

"A Magnemite pair is literally stuck together in a place called Thunderwave Cave,'' Riolu answered. "As you can probably tell, it's going to be FILLED with Electric-type Pokémon.''

"Ugh…no need to tell ME twice,'' Squirtle said shuddering.

"We should stock up on some Cheri Berries to heal Paralysis among other things,'' Zorua suggested.

"Right,'' Riolu said. We walked out the door and back towards the Square. We came upon a shop ran by a pair of Keckleon, one on the left being green and the other being purple.

"Hello, boys!'' the green Keckleon said merrily.

"Hi, guys! How're you?'' Squirtle asked.

"Just peachy, Squirtle!'' the purple Keckleon said. "Business is booming as always! Congratulations on saving little Caterpie!''

"Aw, it was nothin'! Those Wurmple were a piece of cake!'' Squirtle boasted. Says the guy who was almost killed, I thought dropping sweat. Riolu just grumbled at Squirtle's bragging.

"Can we get you anything?'' the green Keckleon asked. "Provided you have the MONEY?'' The Keckleon's sudden glare ran a shiver up my spine.

"Please get me some Cheri Berries, Oran Berries, and a few Reviver Seeds,'' Squirtle requested fearfully putting Poké (gold coin-like objects) on the table. The purple Keckleon quickly scooped up the money, counted it EXTRA carefully and put it away in a giant sack already filled with the coins. The green Keckleon ran kneeled down behind the counter.

"Here you are,'' the green Keckleon said happily.

"Thanks, guys!'' Squirtle said more relaxed in tone.

"Have a good day!'' the two Keckleon waved as we walked away.

"What was with those two?'' I whispered to Squirtle when we were out of the Keckleon's range of hearing.

"They REALLY hate getting ripped off,'' Squirtle whispered back. "The last guy who tried to gyp them was sent to the hospital.''

"It was…pretty scary,'' Zorua said sweating.

"Well, they didn't freak out this time so think nothing of it,'' Riolu said seriously. "Now come on, let's go!''

"Alright, keep your fur on,'' Squirtle said annoyed.
