A/N: Okay, I lied about being able to update last time, and I know I may have lost some of you who are reading this. But please, give this chapter a chance. I have mentioned at the beginning of this story that I'm a very busy senior student and I still am. But the wait is almost over and I'm graduating in exactly 24 days. So please bear with me. I also edited some of the previous chapters, not too big of a change, just some of the time when some events happened.

Disclaimer: I do not own Les Misèrables or its characters. I also do not own any songs mentioned or sang in this story.

Chapter 4

Jehan won a poetry contest and Grantaire, being Grantaire, found this as a reason to celebrate. So Éponine found herself sitting in one of the karaoke booths of the Corinth. Grantaire and Courfeyrac just ended a very drunk rendition of What is this Feeling? from Wicked. Everyone erupted in applause. The two bowed down exaggeratedly and returned to their seats.

"You make a fine Galinda, 'Taire" Éponine said laughing.

"Why thank you Nina." Grantaire bowed down again.

"Hey! What about me?!" Courfeyrac said pouting. Èponine laughed once again and complimented Courfeyrac too.

No one took the microphone after that and they all just chatted away. Some of the others are doing other things like Enjolras who is reading, Joly's inspecting the table, and Jehan is braiding Éponine's hair.

Èponine looked at her watch. 7:56pm

"You can go now if you want 'Ponine, I understand." Jehan said as he finished the braid and laid it on her left shoulder. Èponine glanced at Jehan and he gave her a gentle smile.

"Thank you, Jehan. I'll make it up to you tomorrow." She stood up and gave the poet a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Congratulations again "

Éponine put on her coat, grabbed her satchel and slipped out of the noisy bar quietly.

Unbeknownst to the two, a pair of piercing blue eyes took note of the entire exchange and followed the brunette.

Enjolras bid goodbye to his friends and went out to follow Éponine. He followed her through every turn and was wondering if she was going to walk home on foot but she suddenly turned to a dark empty alley so he stopped and hid behind a parked car. A figure emerged later wearing a newsboy cap with strands of hair sticking out the bottom. Eponine.

Enjolras continued to follow and they soon arrived at the park where some people are sat on the benches and standing around the fountain. Eponine went inside a small store and went out with another girl. The two went inside the crowd and Eponine emerged and stood on the side of the fountain.

"Good evening everyone!" The crowd clapped and cheered.

"Well sorry for being a bit late, but worry not for I prepared a lot of songs for you. Since it's Musicals Night, do you want me to sing something from Wicked?"

The crowd cheered and some random guy yelled,

"Who will be singing with you?" Èponine let out a melodious laugh.

"Well, that would be Cosette. She would be singing as Galinda tonight. Cosette, come up here please." Enjolras saw the blonde girl stood beside Èponine.

The two began singing 'What is This Feeling?' Reminding him of his two drunk friends earlier. They sang pretty good and the crowd became larger and larger. Enjolras stepped back and settled on a low branch of a nearby tree and away from Èponine's line of sight.
The two are singing so beautifully and the crowd became silent to hear the two clearly. They don't have microphones or whatsoever.

"Enjolras? Is that you?" The said boy jumped from his seat he almost fell. He turned to see a familliar child with dirty blonde curls."

"Gavroche? What are you doing here?" He questioned and moved over to make space for the boy.

"Just strolling around." He replied. "What about you? What are you doing here at my spot?"

"Well..." He trailed off a little. What is he going to say? That he just followed his friend and figured she's the one singing here? That would sound very creepy. He knows Gavroche thinks way too old for his age and wouldn't put it past him to tell that bit of information to the rest of the Amis.

"You're watching her?" Gavroche asked gesturing to Èponine who is now singing the 'Wizard and I'.

"Well, not really, I just became curious to why there is a crowd here. It's bigger than when we're having our rallies." He said a part of why he's really curious.

"Oh! That's because she's been singing three or four years now. The crowd loves her so much." Gavroche explained.

Three or four years? That's a long time. She doesn't need the money obviously but why's she doing it?

"Because of the kids she support." Gavroche said.

"What?" Enjolras asked, confused. Then he realized that he must have muttered the last part out loud.

"You asked why she's singing here. You know that children's house a fifteen minute drive away from the Musain? The very big three storey apartment of sort? She supports the kids there. Their schooling, food, shelter, all their needs, basically." Gavroche explained.

"How did she know those children?" Gavroche shrugged.

"Heard she had known them since she was young."

"And how do you know all that?" Enjolras asked raising an eyebrow.

"You know me, Enjolras. I know my why around." Enjolras just chuckled and ruffled the boy's hair. He looked at Èponine again and she's now singing I'm Not That Girl. He went down the tree in one swift jump and Gavroche followed his actions.

"You better go home. Your parents must be worried for you." He told him.

"Nah, they don't mind."

"Where do you go home anyway? I'll drive you there." He asked casually. The boy never told him his home address or mentioned his family when he pops in the Musain.

"You don't need to, Enjolras. I know what you're trying to do." He stopped, crossed his arms over his chest and glared at him, his eyes piercing straight through his.

"I'm just worried for your well-being, Gav." He explained and leaned in front of the boy to reach his eyes. Gavroche stared and stared at him until his gaze soften, finding the sincerity in the older man's eyes.

"Okay. But you don't need to worry 'bout me. Like I said, I know my way around. Au revoir, Monsieur." He then turned around and walked away and out of the park. But not before turning back and giving him an enthusiastic wave.

He noticed that Èponine and Cosette are in the middle of singing For Good . After singing, Èponine thanked the crowd for coming and they dispersed after that. He looked around the crowd trying to find Èponine but to no avail. Then he remembered that she doesn't have her satchel with her when she went out of the alley, so she must have left it there.

He traced his way back and hid behind a car with plain view of the entrance to the alley. Just as he expected, she went back in and came out with her things and her braided hair out of her hat. He let her walk a few more meters before following her.

Èponine went in the alley, took off one of the large bricks on the far left corner and grabbed her satchel. She wore her coat, took off her newsboy cap and removed the hairpins she used to put her braided hair up. She wanted to show it to Azelma when she got home.

She went back to the park and crossed the street to the parking lot. She almost reached her motorcycle when someone grabbed her arm making her wince slightly because there's a bruise there.

"What the f-" She stopped when she saw who it is.

"Enjolras?" She tried hard to hide her shock and panic but failed. "What a coincidence meeting you here."

"I saw it Èponine. I saw what you're doing."

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I'm talking about."

"I don't know what you're saying." she replied, voice raising.

"For goodness sake, Èponine! I'm not a fool! Just admit it!" He raised his hand to run it through his golden curls in frustration but Èponine suddenly ducked with her hands covering her head. He was confused at first but paled when he realised his mistake. Èponine still hadn't moved from her spot.

"Oh my god Èponine, I'm sorry." He kneeled beside her and lightly touched her arms.

"I won't hurt you." He said and felt she was shaking. "Èponine? I'm sorry I overreacted. I-"

"I know." He heard her say softly. She stood up and turned away from him.

"I-I'll explain it... But tomorrow, okay? He... He'll be home soon."

"Okay." He replied feeling guilty.

She wore her helmet and zoomed out as soon as the engine started. Zooming past all the cars and barely staying on the speed limit she was in Montparnasse's garage in 15 minutes. She ran home and slowed down when she's just two houses away. She climbed the tree and entered her bedroom window. After quickly cleaning herself up and changing to her night-clothes before going to her sister's room.

"Hey 'Zelma."

"'Ponine! Thank goodness you're early. Wow! Did Grantaire do that?" She stood up and hugged her older sister before inspecting the intricate design of her hair.

Eponine laughed. "No 'Zelma, it was Jehan who did that. Grantaire's the one who drinks too much." She explained

"Oops... Sorry. I still can't match who's who until I met them. When can Gavroche and I meet your friends 'Ponine? They sound really awesome."

"I feel like you'll be meeting them soon enough. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, 'Ponine." She planted a kiss on her sister's forehead before proceeding to Gavroche's room.

Gavroche was fast asleep when she got there so she just planted a kiss on his forehead too before proceeding to her room, missing the mischievous smile that her brother let out.

She stared at her ceiling waiting for sleep to come, but it didn't. She just laid there on her bed contemplating what happened today and the inevitable happening tomorrow. She still can't believe that she became so reckless and that she got caught. By Enjolras of all people! She turned to lay on her stomach and buried her face on her pillow before letting out a frustrated groan. She stayed like that for a few more minutes before going back to staring at the ceiling, this time sleep slowly overtaking her. Before she fully drifted to sleep, memories of the blonde haired boy helping her flooded her mind, and deep inside her mind she realized something.

Maybe he can help them.
