A/N: Heeeey guys! Sorry for the late update; various things happened and well…yeah. There is like one swear word in this chapter, but uh, honestly, I don't think it really matters…? Well, just a heads up anyway. I wrote this on an empty stomach so excuse me if there are any inconsistencies. Enjoy!

Mitsuki sat, kneeling outside her brother's room in the wooden hallway, waiting for Ayaka like someone would wait for a doctor. A couple of hours had passed since Hiroomi had been brought here. She glanced at the clock, fidgeting slightly.

7:24pm.

The Calm was starting in a mere matter of hours. She returned to her prior state of tension, looking down at the floor, recounting each curve, dent and knoll in the wood. Suddenly, the door in front of her slid open and Ayaka emerged, slightly sweaty and a little unfocused with Ai on her heels. Her kimono had a little blood on it.

Mitsuki sprang up.

"How is he?" She asked anxiously, her voice soft.

Ayaka smiled at her. "He'll be fine. I thought he…" She closed her eyes and reopened them. "He's awake now." She said, still smiling.

Mitsuki was so happy she could hardly speak and instead opted for hugging the youmu tightly. Laughing, Ayaka let her through into the room and together with her sister, they walked off quietly.

As the girl entered the room, she saw her brother, eyes closed on his bed with bandages wrapped around him in various places, but a big one across his chest. Making sure to keep quiet, she padded over to his bedside and sat down, a little awkward.

Hiroomi opened his eyes and saw the uncertain burgundy of his sister's and he smiled weakly. "Hey there."

Mitsuki smiled back, relieved. "Hi." A silence settled for a few seconds. "How are you feeling?"

"Oh, you know." He chuckled lightly. "I'm alright."

"What…what happened?"

"From what Ayaka-san told me, there were just a few scratches and bruises. Only thing that did any damage was a piece of metal that got lodged in my chest. Fell out easily enough though." He said, gesturing to his chest.

Mitsuki could only stare. "Are your lungs okay?"

Hiroomi laughed hoarsely. "Yeah. Nothing's…yeah I'm fine. Help me up would you?" He reached an arm out.

"But you should stay lying down," she protested. "It'll help your breathing." Hiroomi shot her a look and stuck out his arm even more determinedly but she didn't budge, instead glaring back heatedly.

Hiroomi closed his eyes and reopened them, cocking his head and giving her his sweetest smile. "Please?"

She grimaced slightly. "Ew."

"Please?" He said again, putting on an appalling puppy-dog face.

She mimed retching but laughed. "Fine."

Putting a hand flat on his back, she slowly lifted him up, careful not to jostle anything. It took a while and he coughed a few times as if on the edge of an attack and she had frozen, not daring to move another millimetre. But eventually they managed and Hiroomi was sitting up, breathing a little heavier.

"I'll go get something you can lean on." Mitsuki said, a little anxious. Hiroomi merely waved his hand dismissively.

"I'm fine, I'm fine." Another silence settled, interrupted periodically by Hiroomi's slight breathing. Mitsuki fidgeted a little. She wasn't used to her brother being so quiet.

"So…what do we do?" She finally said.

"What is there to do? Fujima Miroku wanted something." He flicked his eyes up at his sister then back down. "Information, no doubt. But he won't find it. Not on his life."

Mitsuki narrowed her eyes. "What information do we have that he would go to such lengths to find? We just look after this land." She cast her mind back to her conversation with the man and slowly started remembering. "He said I was kept in the dark…what don't I know Hiroomi?"

The boy stayed silent.

"Answer me!"

Hiroomi sighed, squeezing his hands slightly. "…There are…a lot of things you don't know, Mitsuki. You don't know about the vaults or the cavern or…" He trailed off, contemplating his next words. Mitsuki looked annoyed but anxious. "How we're losing status and…there are just a lot of things."

The girl clenched her hands, casting her eyes down. Lowly, she said, "Tell me about the vaults and the cavern then."

Hiroomi darted a look at her. "Are you sure?"

"Yes."

He started slowly. "…There's a passageway in the hall between the kitchen and the living room and it leads downwards. It's very well hidden," He added. "You wouldn't be able to find it if you didn't know about it." Mitsuki bit her lip. "It's a staircase that opens up to a stone hall. At the end, there's a door locked using a youmu barrier. The only way you can get past it is if you know how to manipulate it." He trailed off, thinking intently.

"What's past the door?" Mitsuki pressed, impatient.

"It's a cavern. Well, there are the vaults first. I call it the vaults but they're really just bookcases. It's filled with everything the Nase family has ever known about anything. It's invaluable. Beyond that is the cavern. It…well, it's not important."

Mitsuki narrowed her eyes, sensing that her brother was holding some things back but she decided to let it go, on account of his injury. "Why have I never known about this?"

Hiroomi looked at her and smiled sadly. "It was on a need-to-know basis. I only knew because I am the eldest son. If anything happened to nee-san, I would have to pick up the slack so of course I needed to know." He looked up and closed his eyes, sighing. "It really is better if you didn't know."

Mitsuki contemplated his words. It was obvious that this hall and vault and whatever were things that brought Hiroomi no joy. Was she really better off not knowing?

Well too late now. A voice inside cooed. You know.

"How are we losing status? I thought we were always..."

"Yeah. So did I." Hiroomi said. "But Izumi nee-san told me once that we're quickly losing favour with the Society. Only thing that's keeping us standing is our heritage."

"...Why?"

Hiroomi shrugged. "Izumi nee-san didn't tell me. It happened within the last 20 years though."

Clicking her tongue, she asked, "And what about the Beyond the Boundary?"

Hiroomi looked slightly confused and shook his head. "I don't know anything about that. That's top secret, I would think. Why?"

Mitsuki looked up, a little startled. "Didn't I tell you? Fujima Miroku said that the Beyond the Boundary had surfaced, well, one part of it has. And he said that the Nase family had information about it."

Hiroomi's eyes widened. "I've never heard of that." He looked down, serious.

"I…oh." Mitsuki murmured, a little uncertain as to how to answer. A few seconds passed before Hiroomi looked up suddenly.

"Could you get Ayaka-san please?"

Mitsuki nodded, getting dumbly to her feet and walked towards the door. She was about to leave before catching herself and turned back around, darting a look sideways. "I'm glad you're okay."

Hiroomi blanched for a few seconds, his sister's footsteps in the hall, before laughing.

Akihito flopped back uselessly on his chair. The other person stared at him strangely, uncomprehending.

"I knew it..." He muttered. The green eyed blond furrowed his brows.

"Knew what?"

Akihito flicked his eyes up unenthusiastically up at his, anger flaring in its honey depths. "That I've been here before. I got such a dizzying sense of déjà vu last time and…" He trailed off and suddenly stood up, pacing up and down.

The other Akihito merely watched on. "And you feel…dread?" He cocked his head.

"Yes!" He said hotly. "Of course I feel dread! Last time I came, I…last time…" His eyes clouded over before widening and he gave a shuddering gasp, pointing at the other male. "You! You're not supposed to be here…I…"

The other Akihito sighed. "I was hoping you wouldn't remember that. It makes everything so awfully complicated."

The blond narrowed his eyes. "Complicated?! It keeps things safe." His tone turned icy. "Why are you here? Why aren't you in the castle?" He bit out. "Who let you out?"

The green-eyed Akihito blinked slowly. "You let me out." He said simply.

"I didn't let you out." He said lowly. "I locked you up in the castle to keep people safe!" His voice rose dangerously.

The other Akihito only laughed, a dead, hollow sound. "Safe? Who do you think you are? You will never keep anyone safe. You're a monster." He seethed.

"I'm…" A hint of uncertainty tainted his voice and he cleared his throat, his anger lending him strength. Slamming his hand on the table, he said, "I'm not a monster. You're the monster."

The green-eyed male stood up abruptly, the chair clattering on the floor and he circled Akihito, snarling. "I'm the monster? Me? Who was the one who hurt those two boys? You. Who was the one who hurt dear, precious Hiroomi? You. Who almost killed cute, pretty Mirai? You. Don't pretend like this was my entire fault because you know it wasn't. You know it wasn't."

Akihito could barely see straight, his vision was starting to get red-washed and he struggled to stay calm. "I only did those things because of you! You're the reason I hurt my friends! You're the reason I hurt myself! You're the reason my life is a MESS!" He was shouting by now, the edge of his vision red. Tears had sprung to his eyes.

"You think I want to be here?" The other blond snarled. "Of course fucking not. And on top of that, I'm shoved in a stone prison and I get blamed for all of this?! No, this isn't my fault. Who wants to be a monster? Nobody-"

"Well if I can't blame you, who can I blame?" Akihito cut him off, his voice breaking slightly. He sat back down, drained and put his head in his hands. "I didn't ask for this either. My life is a mess and all because of you."

The other Akihito still seethed, though his anger wasn't as red-hot as before. "Be glad you have a life at all. All I can do is wander around those Memory Fields, watching you live your life while I'm stuck in here. If you really want to blame someone, blame your mother."

"My mother?" He looked up with a tear stained face. "Why my mother?"

"Because she put me here. Didn't you know?" The green-eyed Akihito's tone turned taunting. "Oh, poor, poor Akihito. He doesn't even know! And all this time he's been killing himself over how he has hurt people! How tragic." He leaned in close, his face right up against the blond's. "I have witnessed hundreds upon thousands upon millions ofdeaths." He sneered. "I've seen wars and loss and disaster. You've had such a good life and yet you're still drowning in your pathetic self-pity. Well guess what?" He grinned, putting a hand on Akihito's forehead.

"Wha-"

"Shhh…It's my turn now."

And all at once, he lost consciousness again.
