Testing track nine was almost exactly how Shade remembered it, the only two things different were its size compared to her and all the overgrowth around the chambers. Shade opened up the small relaxation chamber and stepped in. "It's the first time I've seem my track from a test subjects view." Shade said. "I thought I had control over this section, remember, you and Alicia went through chamber fourteen, I think." GLaDOS said. "We went through testing track nine, version three, chamber fourteen. The track has several versions." Shade said. "Why?" GLaDOS asked. "One for me, version one, which we're in. One for the scientists, which is mostly gone now. One for you." Shade said. "No, one for the central AI, I'm not that AI anymore." GLaDOS said sadly. "Cheer up, unless I want to harm you, or Sadistic core managed to break the firewall to the controls, we shouldn't worry about it. Either of you thirsty?" Shade said. "I could go for some juice." GLaDOS said. "Tea." Alicia said. "Okay, then give me a second." Shade said as she closed her eyes, a moment later three stands rose from the floor, each with a drink on it. "Here you go Gladdy." Shade said as she handed a glass of fruit juice to GLaDOS. "Thanks, what else can you do here?" GLaDOS asked as Alicia and Shade took their drinks. "Everything except activate a lift to the surface, or control the rest of the facility." Shade said. "Wow!" GLaDOS said with shock. "I'm surprised that you don't come here often." Alicia said. "Too many bad memories." Shade said.
The three decided to look for, or rather take an elevator to , a turret chamber the next day as they were all a little sleepy. "Here you go Alicia." Shade said as she opened the relaxation pod. " What about you two, where are you going to sleep?" Alicia asked. "I'm going to open a den and bring in a bed for me and Gladdy from one of the long-term stasis rooms." Shade said. "If you want, I think Shade can bring you one too." GLaDOS said. "No thanks, I've slept in these relaxation pods for too long, I wouldn't be able to sleep easily on a normal bed." Alicia said. "Okay." GLaDOS said. "But if you want me to come sleep with you two sometime in the middle of the night, then I'll be glad to do so." Alicia said. "We wont likely be able to sleep either way, we're both at least half machine and so we have a lot of trouble sleeping." Shade said. "Okay, then how about you two try getting something like a teddy bear to sleep with." Alicia said, it was a joke, but GLaDOS and Shade didn't care. "We might." Shade said. They did, and that night they slept great.
"How did you two sleep, and I see that you took my advice?" Alicia asked GLaDOS and Shade the next morning. "Better than usual." Shade said. "Yea." GLaDOS said, she was still hugging her teddy bear, though she clearly didn't notice. "Well we should head off. Gladdy?" Alicia asked. "Yea?" GLaDOS asked. "If you want, you can bring your teddy since you haven't stopped hugging it yet." Alicia said. GLaDOS noticed what Alicia and Shade had already noticed after that comment. "Oh, n-no I think I'll leave it here." GLaDOS said, puting the teddy bear down. "It's natural for a child to want to hang on to their teddy bear, if they have one, I wont judge you on it, you're mind seems to be more childish anyway." Alicia said. "No, we should leave them here and I'll set up a portal-only storage so we have them when we're sleeping. We don't need to give Sadistic core any satisfaction after all." Shade said. "Yea." GLaDOS looked to Shade "Portal-only storage?" she asked. "It's basically were I set them in a sealed area that has a portal spawner in it, the spawner is set to an unused portal ID so that only I can open the portal to retrieve them, and no one else can even find the area on any of Aperture's maps." Shade said. "You can do that?" Alicia asked. "Please, I left the facility about ten years ago and brought back a vehicle, which I stored for a few days, then wrecked in a pool of neurotoxin." Shade said. "Why?" GLaDOS asked. "I was bored and couldn't find anything else to use." Shade said. "Okay, then could you store my teddy?" GLaDOS said, giggling at her childishness. "Sure." Shade said.
A few minutes later, the three arrived at the turret chamber, chamber four. "A little early to have turrets don't you think?" Alicia asked. "It's never too early to have turrets." Shade and GLaDOS said. "Right, I forgot that I'm with two sadistic little girls that love neurotoxin." Alicia said. "Hey, I'm not sadistic." GLaDOS said. "Sure you're not Gladdy." Alicia said. "Hey I found the turrets." Shade said as she rounded the corner and came face-to-face with at least forty active turrets, she quickly dodged back around the corner. "where'd you go?" one of the turrets asked. "What are you hiding from Shade?" GLaDOS asked as she rounded the corner to find out, a moment later she ran back around and sat next to Shade. "Deactivate those things." Alicia said. "On it." Shade said, a moment later, the lasers of the turrets went out and they went offline. "wow, I never thought that turrets could seem so big." GLaDOS said as she looked at the turret she had walked up to, it was about three inches taller than her. "Isn't perspective wonderful?" Alicia asked mockingly as she picked up one of the turrets, then GLaDOS and Shade. "Shade grab a few with a magnetic field." Alicia said. "Okay." Shade said as she did just that. "I think we have enough, let's take a lift to our meeting place." Shade said.
A/N: sorry for the wait, and the fact that I doubt that this is all that good.
