Introduction
Author's Preamble
So, I first need to explain that this isn't a story, at least not a regular one. It's more like... a fictional history and a series of OC profiles. So, if you don't like that kind of thing, then you don't have to stick around.
So, if you've looked around on my DeviantArt (which I'll shorten to Devi from here), you'll know I like my Gizoids. Gizoids are robots from the Sonic universe, specifically Sonic Battle, Sonic Advance 3, and Sonic Chronicles. They are highly advanced combat androids with the capability to copy the abilities of those they fight. I am fascinated with these things, so I have begun to draw a lot of them.
Now, I started by drawing (and still do) Gizoid Imitators, which are various characters from different games and other series, which I draw as Gizoids, but what's important here are the original Gizoids I draw, robot characters I put a lot of thought into. I come up with designs, abilities, personalities, and more for these Gizoids, but all of that is put in as a summary of the description, and well... I have begun to feel that it isn't enough.
I do write OC profiles for my non-Gizoid OCs on my Devi, but never considered my Gizoid Originals as anything more than art pieces, at least at first. But now, I want to do more, especially to go into detail.
I was also, in my head, coming up with a story for these Gizoids (my Gizoid Originals specifically. I don't have the same plans for my Imitators, probably because they are technically existing characters). And well, it's not a full story, but more of a story synopsis, a history that also set up further journeys. I have no interest in writing a full story, just something to create the world I came up with in my head... And I can work with that.
So, I came up with this, the Gizoid Archives. A place to explain the abilities, characters, and personal stories for my Gizoid OCs.
But first, I need the greater story / history that all these Gizoids share, and their culture, of sorts, which will be done in this "chapter". In the next "chapter", I'll go over the basic abilities of the Gizoids, and then, we'll get into the individual Gizoids.
But before we get started, some important info. First, this does take place in Sonic's world. But I didn't Sonic and his friends to be involved, especially considering how I end this history. So, this new generation of Gizoids was made over a thousand years after Sonic's time, which means that would also take place after Silver's future, which was only 200 years after Sonic's time. So, none of them are around to be involved, much less responsible for what will happen.
And before we go to the next important info, no, time travel was not considered, like Silver would've used. This was done for several good reasons, the biggest one will make itself apparent soon.
I should also bring up Shadow the Hedgehog. Supposedly, he is immortal and unaging, but well... I've never really liked that idea. The idea of never dying, while everyone you cared for passes away and leaves due to the passage of time... it's too depressing to me. Not to mention, Shadow has already gone through much hardship and the loss of loved ones. So instead, I went for the idea that he has aged much slower, probably lived for several hundred years, but has also passed.
The same idea, however, doesn't bother me as much with robots, who also have the potential to last forever. I don't know why exactly I feel that way, but I do have this idea of robots, even the most human-like ones, finding their purpose in life, and when it's done, they start a new journey. So, robots and AI, like Omega, Gemerl, and even Sage might still be around in this time. Heck, Gemerl, an Eggman-built Gizoid, was used as the basis to create the new Gizoids.
Now, onto the second important thing, these Gizoids Originals are art pieces that I still draw, so I come out with new ones every so often. Many Gizoids that I haven't made yet, as in drawn and finished detailing, are important to the story. Now, I want you guys to be surprised with the new Gizoids I make, so I am going to name any Gizoid that comes up in the story, but hasn't been released yet, as "[REDACTED]", to hide their name until they come out. Then, I'll come back to edit in their names once they come out.
But, I'll leave their titles "unredacted", to give a little hint to who they are. Besides that, their abilities might be alluded to in the story summaries where it might be important, they won't be discussed in detail outside of their own profiles, even if those profiles aren't out, so until they're released, you won't get much info.
Finally, I'll still be posting the Gizoid as art pieces first, and then putting up their profiles in the Gizoid Archives. The art piece's descriptions will cover the usual stuff I put in, which is my thought process and work on the piece, but will no longer cover the Giziod's abilities and character, beyond just the basics. That will be handled by the profiles themselves.
I am considering these a step up from my normal OC Profiles, which is why I am putting them up as a "story", and posting them on all of the sites I put my stories up on. Well, that and my Gizoid Originals, as far as my hobbies go, are the most important to me, so could you blame me for wanting to give them a little more exposure online?
On some of the sites where I upload stories, I can't seem to reorganize chapters, at least not easily, so instead, the order in which I upload each pre-existing profile will be based on when I first uploaded their original piece. In story, you can consider this to be relative to the order of their initial activation dates, and not reflective of achieving their in-story ranking, or importance to the story. And as I release more Gizoids, this will also be true for them (even if you find a level of unfairness based on their experience, but there isn't much I can do about that).
This will not apply to Kronos, for reasons you're about to see. Also, Cobalt's upload will be based on the release of his redesign, not his original design.
And as a fun fact, the model numbers are based on their release date. It'll be "Model NG-[year ##][month ##][day ##]", with NG standing for "New Generation" or "New Gizoid". For a better example, Cobalt's model is "Model NG-210502", 210502 is combined from "21", the year 2021, "05", the month of May, and "02", the date. However, this will have no bearing on the story, as in-story, the model number system is just a simple numbering system with nothing special to it.
Oh, and as a warning, when I say "going into detail", I mean REALLY going into detail. Especially for their abilities. It's just how I am, I have an active mind, and I want to put all of that out there, explained as closely as possible to how I imagined it. That's why I started art and story-making in the first place, to get my ideas out of my head and into the world. But be prepared for LENGTHY descriptions. Again, if this is not your cup of tea, do not feel obligated to stick around.
Fanfic Readers: So, if you are reading here on Fanfic, you should know that this site has some disadvantages. One, I can't put up images on images, so while I intend to put the images of the Gizoids I draw for their profiles, as well as images of their weapons, I can't do that on this site. I also can't put links in the text, as they won't work on Fanfic, so, my alternative to just link to the images on my Devi also won't work.
If you just want to enjoy reading, then the images aren't necessary, I suppose. But if you want a visual of what I am describing, I would recommend looking up the Gizoid Archives on my Devi at "Cobalt-Gemini", or on my other publishing sites, Wattpad and Archive of Our Own. Otherwise, I'll do my best to describe how everything looks.
Now, let's get started.
The Ancient Weapon's Reawakening
The original Gizoids are ancient weapons, created by a civilization that was thousands of years far beyond their time in technological developments. One day, their civilization vanished, and it was believed that one of their own creations lead to their destruction.
While later records reveal that their disappearance was actually caused by a form of divine intervention, as a consequence of their own avarice for conquest, the destructive power of the Gizoid was also found to be true, nearly destroying their original civilization before they vanished. That same Gizoid, dubbed Emerl, the original Gizoid, nearly destroyed the world for the same reasons, again caused by the greed of controlling the ultimate weapon.
But this story... happens after the vanishing of the Gizoid's home civilization, a story never recorded in history, until now. The story of survivors who managed to escape the fate of their people.
Scientists and roboticists of the Nocturnus Clan of echidnas, the creators of the Gizoid, were stationed just outside of their home of Nocturne, for testing weapons safely away from the rest of civilization, when it was torn from the ground and pulled into a rift that opened in the sky. They barely escaped simply by being in the right place at the right time...
And they wasted no more time trying to undo what happened.
But in doing so, they created the most dangerous weapon in the world: a time-manipulating Gizoid with the goal of ending the flow of time itself. And through great sacrifice, one of them fought to undo their greatest mistake, and finally sealed him away.
But of course, it didn't last. After thousands of years passed, after many eras of heroes, in an age of peace, Kronos, a god-like Gizoid, reawakened, and began his conquest once more, with the intent to end the law of time and destroy the universe. But this time, he played it smart, hiding the shadows, and making small subjugations, as he began to regain the power of his past.
In ages past, the Chaos Emeralds were used to stop threats of great magnitude, but they were used by heroes that could handle power. And such heroes were not around when Kronos reawakened.
So, they decided to make some heroes. If they were facing a Gizoid, then they would make Gizoids of their own. Fight fire with fire.
A New Generation of Gizoids
Using the Eggman-built, modern Gizoid, Gemerl, as a basis, along with many records of past Gizoids and their own ingenuity, roboticists of the era began to develop a small legion of Gizoids to combat the Black Gizoid, Kronos.
Since the Gizoids' ability to copy the abilities of their opponents is based on the means to grow and learn, they would prepare these Gizoids to leave on their own journeys, while they made countermeasures to slow Kronos's rise to power. After all, these journeys took take years, and their weapons against this ancient threat needed time to become strong enough to face him, before he made his big move.
During these journeys, Gizoids would develop their own identities, and become their own person, and while each remembered they were combat androids, they began to view themselves as more than simply machines, as equals to the humans. And while at first, the Gizoid's developers weren't very fond of this, they were convinced that it would be for the better, as it gave the Gizoids a reason to care, plus it would be inevitable throughout each journey.
Each Gizoid would be informed that their journeys are to prepare for Kronos's eventual arrival, but should a Gizoid, during their journeys, decide to place their alignment elsewhere, precautions are taken. They are often removed from the program, relieving them free of the responsibility to face Kronos and his followers, and allowing them to follow the life they choose, typically with the intent to protect a different part of the world, that they have chosen. But it's rare for this to happen, as Gizoids are more than ready to face Kronos.
The real threat the Gizoids are watched for is if they begin to become a threat to humanity or the world, either beginning to view them for either subjugation or destruction. If this happens, then the Gizoid gets decommissioned and remoted self-destructed, frying their electrical component and severing the connection to their energy cores.
And the other Gizoids aren't so much warned to not threaten the world, but encouraged to learn the positives of humanity, as well as the negatives, and understand why they should be protected. Although, they still keep dangerous Gizoids around, as long as they prove to follow orders and not put lives in danger... on purpose.
The Gizoids who learn to enjoy the world will also learn much in their journeys, as well as become powerful warriors, ready to defend their home from the threat looming over them. Eventually, the Gizoids of the New Generation saw each other as brothers and sisters, and promised to protect what they cared about.
Gizoid Duels
Gizoids will often return home, a.k.a. their headquarters, for reports and to showcase their progress. But by doing so, they often meet up with other Gizoids. Gizoids can even run into each other on their journeys, either by coincidence, or as planned meetings. And in these cases, they would like to test each other's strength, with a bit of a... sparing match. So, the Gizoids themselves, not their developers, created a set of rules to keep these matches from going out of control, to a point, creating the concept of the Gizoid Duel.
Rule 1, Gizoid Duels are strictly one on one. It's the best way to judge strength, and if there is more than one Gizoids involved, they'll use a round-robin tournament, with ample time to recover between matches.
Rule 2, when you announce a Gizoid Duel, you must allow time for both Gizoids to prepare, so they can fully recharge their energy, and make any repairs possible at the time, so the Gizoid can be at peak performance during the Duel. This is also the time to select a proper battleground, away from any civilian life. The allotted time is typically six hours, but it can differ.
Rule 3, you can receive no outside help during the Duel. No person, including robots, can help out. Remember, these Duels are to test your own strength. Exceptions can be made if the person is somehow more of a tool, like a robot that provides support weaponry or energy. So long as they are okay with being viewed as a tool, not a person. Of course, this has yet to happen, as both people and robots are not viewed as tools by Gizoids, which is for the best.
Rule 4, there is no holding back, and any tool that Gizoids use for fighting is acceptable. The sole exception, which must be upheld to the best of their ability, is to try to prevent serious damage or destruction. Damages are to be expected in such battles, but decommissioning, i.e. killing, is not something they want to cause, even if unintentional.
Rule 5, as per Rule 4, no "Awakening energy overload" should be engaged on purpose, and any unnecessary access energy should be vented prior to the Duel, to try and prevent such an occurrence from happening.
The Gizoid Duel has become a key part of the learning process between Gizoid, a way to test each other and encourage continued growth. Once the developers heard the rules, they immediately sanctioned the Duels, so long as the rules are upheld, and that the Duels are not used as a way to destroy rival Gizoids.
The Elite Gizoids
While building a legion of Gizoids to combat an ancient, time-manipulating Gizoid is good and all, if they intend to use the Chaos Emeralds specifically to combat him, then they need to consider one thing: there are only seven Emeralds.
So, the plan was to select the Gizoids who have proven to become the strongest in their journeys, and give each of them a Chaos Emerald as a primary power core, as well as expensive upgrades to their frames. Then they can lead the fight, and challenge Kronos directly. These would be the Elites, the best of the best.
The first Gizoid to be selected was Chrome, the Prismatic Sword. Early in his journey, he found methods to travel through dimensions, and used this to spar with benevolent beings of divine power, and Capture their power. He also used this as a chance to maybe see things from a different perspective, so he can understand the world from not just the level of humanity, but above them, and see the flaws and benefits in both.
Chrome's quick growth of power, as well as his understanding of humanity and willingness to defend them, made him a clear choice to achieve the Elite ranking, and be given a Chaos Emerald, and the Elite Rank of "Elite-G1-GRN" ("Elite Gizoid 1, Green", as in the green Chaos Emerald he was given). And as the first of the Elites, he was made to be their leader once all of them were gathered, and was involved in the process of picking the rest of the Elites.
The second Elite was [REDACTED], the Trinity Tactician, hand-picked by Chrome for the very reason he was given the title of tactician. With [REDACTED]'s skill in both combat and battle tactics, Chrome figured he would be helpful in coordinating a team, so he was made second-in-command.
Next, Reverie, the Reality Weaver, was picked. Despite her sadistic character, her power, as well as retrieving the lost Phantom Ruby, made her a good pick, as long as she was watched. Cobalt, the Hyper Vagrant, was picked next, for his command of Hyper-Go-Ons and variant combat style.
[REDACTED], the Ringed Celestial, wasn't sure why she was picked. She was always more of a healer than a fighter, and taught everything she learned to students at a monastery of fellow healers. But as Gizoid, she had many combat Skills already Captured before she choose her different path. Plus, Chrome felt that her knowledge in healing and automated repair made her more than valuable as the Elite's support.
Argentum, the Silver Winter, was the second-to-last pick. Another risky choice, due to his taste for death, but he proved to hold loyalty above all else. Plus, his cryokinetic abilities are unrivaled, and his skills in stealth would be a useful asset.
And finally, Parallax was the final pick. Despite having yet to receive his title, and seemingly very cold in his character, he was powerful, almost on the same level as Chrome himself, and proved to be loyal to the cause.
After many years, the team was finally assembled, and the final battle against Kronos could begin.
End of the World
As Kronos grew his power and influence in the shadows, he heard of the new Generation of Gizoids, including the Elites, as they were being picked, especially the Prismatic Sword, Chrome. Knowing these Gizoids would be used to stop him, he decided it was time to pull the strings from behind.
Back at the Gizoid's headquarters, Parallax, after becoming the final Elite Gizoid, he began bringing up concerns of... what they were. They were combat androids, built as tools, weapons. They were to be used, with a single purpose in mind. So, what would happen when their purpose was complete?
Chrome, Cobalt, and [REDACTED] attempted to reassure Parallax that while they were built with a purpose, their creators knew and supported the value each Gizoid had in their identity. Then Parallax brought up all of the Gizoids that got decommissioned. Chrome reminded him that those Gizoids were too dangerous. Parallax countered that they still had dangerous Gizoids, even among the Elites, such as Reverie and Argentum.
Chrome then reminded Parallax that they were supposed to learn the value of the life they were tasked to protect, and Cobalt and [REDACTED] agreed. Parallax said that they were forced to see that value, as it was their purpose. And soon, they might all be discarded, despite that. Seeing no resolution, Chrome ended the conversation, and began to question if Parallax was a smart choice for the Elites.
But he wouldn't get the chance to make any kind of change. Kronos had reappeared to make his move.
Kronos came with his followers, to announce his end to the "Cycle of Strife", and his goal to end the law of time itself. He knew of the Gizoids made to stop, and called on them to meet him at the Little Planet, to try and stop him from getting the power he needs to succeed, and prove their part in the Cycle.
With no other choice, they did so, and the Elites met Kronos in the final battle. Even without a Chaos Emerald, or the power he was seeking, Kronos was incredibly powerful, and only Chrome seemed strong enough to face him one on one, but with the help of the other Elite Gizoids, they had more than enough to beat him.
If only that happened... as it was now Parallax betrayed them all. He took down Chrome, for a moment, and revealed that Kronos approached him, and told him the truth. They were made for the Cycle of Strife as weapons, perpetuating war and conflict, and once it was all over, they'd have no place in it. So, he kept to himself, hid his true feelings, so he could become an Elite, and help his fellow Gizoids, his brothers and sisters see the truth.
Cobalt angrily said that he understood where he was coming from, but that there was more than just conflict, but people, friends and family that cared for each other, stood by each other. Only for Chrome, still trying to recover, to find himself at the mercy of his second-in-command, [REDACTED], who found himself agreeing with Parallax. Meanwhile, Argentum had to come in and defend Cobalt from a surprise attack from Reverie, also joining Kronos's side.
The Gizoid's alliances were now split in half, and what was meant to be seven of the most powerful weapons to stop the world-ending threat, was now a four vs. four fight.
Chome was the only one strong enough to face Kronos had on, forcing the allies who remained on his side to fight their traitorous siblings. Cobalt, in his anger, chose to face Parallax himself.
But the allied side was losing, and then Parallax fully announced his loyalty to Kronos, and was pleased to see the dread in everyone who would dare take the side of the Cycle, and those who chose to be tools in it. Kronos, giving Parallax the title of Dread Zealot, granted him a boost in power, allowing Parallax to unleash his apocalyptic Skill, the Devastation Storm, across the planet.
With no other options left, Chrome made a desperate play. He entered an Awakening, and fused the divine energy he gathered into his Chaos Emerald core, in order to force the rest of the Emeralds to answer his call, and charged Kronos in one last clash. And in this clash, Chrome used the power of all seven Emeralds to bind them to Kronos time energy, and seal the Ancient Weapon in prison of his own power.
The rest of the Elites lost much of their power when their Emerald cores sent everything to Chrome's call. This left Parallax unable to continue fueling his storm, but the storm itself was already surging across the world, and Little Planet was beginning to collapse. But despite their own loss of power, Cobalt made one last desperate play himself.
He began to absorb the negative energy of the Devastation Storm, used it to fuel his Hyper-Go-Ons, and engage a Purple Frenzy, charging the traitorous Parallax and leaving him broken, to fall alone. Meanwhile, Argentum and [REDACTED] stopped [REDACTED] and Reverie, also leaving them to fall.
In his fury, Cobalt was left broken and corrupted. But Argentum ran up to pick up his broken friend, while [REDACTED] got Chrome, and they all left the falling planet.
But even with Kronos sealed away, and the other traitors defeated, the damage was done. The Devastation Storm had destroyed their world, and everyone who was still alive... wouldn't be for long, as the storm vaporized the very atmosphere.
Argentum believed that their traitorous siblings might've survived Cobalt's fury and the destruction of Little Planet. He wasn't positive, but he felt they were still functional. They would have to lick their wounds, and with no one left alive to fix the major damages, they would be down for a while. But they would return.
Chrome had used the power of the Chaos Emeralds to seal Kronos within his own power. He alone would be unable to break it. But the Emeralds, too, could be used to unseal him. And with three of the Emeralds in ownership of powerful Gizoids who aligned themselves with the Black Gizoid, they were already almost halfway to already undoing the seal and bringing about the destruction Kronos promised.
Kronos talked about destroying time itself. It wouldn't end with the destruction of their home world. It might not even end in this dimension. So, Chrome stated his final resolve. He would leave and find means to seal himself away, and in doing so, seal away one of the seven keys needed to free Kronos.
With Chrome leaving to regain his power and make his seal, treading across the destruction as the storm faded, the rest of the Gizoids decided to see if they could find the power Kronos was searching for. It took time but they found it... gemstones with the power to command time. The fabled Time Stones.
They knew that with these, Kronos could get the power he wanted to destroy the law of time, as he put it. But there was a problem, there were supposed to be seven Stones. And they only could find six.
Argentum took this as further evidence that Parallax had indeed survived, and he must've gotten the missing Time Stone. So what would they do now?
Cobalt was the one to make the proposition. Chrome was able to travel through different dimensions, and Cobalt liked to travel, as his title suggests. So, with their world gone, he intended to follow in the Prismatic Sword's footsteps, and travel to worlds that were still alive. He would help the three of them learn how to breach through dimension barriers, and then hide and seal six of the Time Stones on dead worlds, then wipe the locations from their Data Drives (but not what the Stones are, and that they'd hidden them), all to make sure no one can find them. Then the three Gizoid siblings would split up and make their own way through the worlds.
And this is how Kronos and Parallax brought an end to an entire world, how weapons, no warriors, that were meant to stop him were split by differing views, and how they all began to find their own paths. This story isn't over, but the battle has concluded... in failure. But they would not fail again.
Author's Note: I think you can see why I wanted to put this in the future and make sure Sonic and his friends couldn't be involved. This is supposed to be about my OCs alone, and the crazy stories I created for them, especially since it ends in failure, but a new beginning follows in its wake.
