…..

Dorothy McShane is getting more worried each day for the young woman looking for the lost Time Lord. She keeps calling Graham to check up on her, and Graham keeps making her laugh. "How is Yaz?"

""She is fighting me, I keep trying to get her to eat a little something, but most of the time she refuses."

"I am also getting more worried about her. I have an idea, mind if I swing by?"

She can hear the smile through the phone, "of course not, you're always welcome here."

"Thank you Graham, I will be there tonight," she says her goodbyes and Will Buckland comes in.

"Is this Graham that you are smiling getting off the phone the same one that knows the Doctor?"

"Why don't you head over there now."

"I have a meeting that has been put off one to many times, and you may be my partner in this, but according to Sanaul, the CEO of this charity needs to go. I have been skirting everything since before the Doctor entered my life again."

"I see, do you need help preparing for this meeting," he smiles at her.

"No thank you, I have been reading and rereading these notes since I got back."

"Don't forget spending time with Graham."

"Are you jealous?"

"What no."

Dorothy laughs, "you are, we are just friends, and he needed someone who was close to the Doctor. What Graham didn't realize at the time was Yaz's feelings were different then mine were."

"You two seem close."

"We both know how traveling with the Doctor can do harm to one's mental health."

"Hmm, I thought there was more than one guy could cause."

"There is Will, but that is not something to talk about, and I will have people coming in 10 minutes."

"Ok, I will see you tomorrow?"

"You will."

"Have fun with Graham." Will walks out as Dorothy pushes her glasses farther up her face. After the meeting is done Dorothy gets into her car and drives the few hours to Shefeild.

Dorothy gets out and knocks on the door to hear yelling coming from the backyard as Ryan opens the door. "Will you drive some sense into them, it seems half the time they are arguing."

"I will try." Dorothy walks out to where the homemade TARDIS, "Gorden Bennet you two. Graham, you go back into the kitchen." Graham stalks out, "Yaz," she says her voice going all soft, "if I promise to help you on weekends and see if those two out there," she point to where Ryan and Graham are standing, "will help you from time to time, "will you promise to eat and get some sleep, especially if I get a air mattress for you. I won't ask you to leave this TARDIS, but I don't want you only sleeping on the ground."

"Why?"

"I care about you, and if the Doctor knew you were neglecting your own self-care while looking for her, you know how she would react. I know I have never had that deep of feelings that you have for them for anybody. I mean I have been close a few times."

"What do you mean feelings for the Doctor," Dorothy looks at Yaz whose eyes are wide.

"Your feelings run a little well a lot deeper than one of a friend, or what was my case with the Time Lord daughter."

"You have never been in love?"

"Close, but never to let go of some of my trauma."

"You and Graham would be perfect for the other then."

"Graham is someone who cares deeply for any he meets, and just like Ryan and I worried about you and not eating. I am sure Graham will whip up anything you ask."

"I will eat, as long as you come by tomorrow."

"I will help you tonight too. I have nothing else going on, so I can stay for a while and see if the group of us can eat together." Yaz smiles as Dorothy walks out, "are you coming, I was serious about staying and helping you out." Yaz follows her, they enter the small house. "Graham, can you whip us all up with something to eat? I have promised Yaz that I will be helping her out from time to time, mostly on weekends."

"I can definitely make a family meal give me 20."

"Yaz during that time tell me what kind of air mattress you want. I don't want you killing your back as I know with stubborn women like us when we set our minds to something, nothing will stop us until we accomplish our task."

"I don't care?" Dorothy eyes her as Ryan enters the room Dorothy basically forced her into.

"I do, now what kind would be best for you. I can go high end if you want to."

"You don't need to spend your money on me."

"I don't have anyone really, I have a cat, and my unit at Kirkwood Farms. I have no family, and even when my mother was alive and I was on earth in our time, we were estranged."

"Did you ever want to make up with her?"

"No, there are a lot of things that happened before I was swept away in a time storm."

"For being someone with such a troubled past you sure do care a lot."

"I have always cared about people."

"Dinner is ready, I just whipped up some sarnies. Something small to get Yaz back into eating so she doesn't get sick." Dorothy smiles at Graham as both her and Yaz head into kitchen

"I have been meaning to ask," Ryan starts, "you like being called Ace and Dorothy, but the only person who you seemed ok with calling you Ace was the Doctor. When Chantelle heard us calling you Ace she seemed a little taken aback."

"By the time I had left The TARDIS, I was done with Ace by then."

"So the reverse of Yaz." Ryan says with a laugh in his voice.

"What do you mean?"

"What they meant until I started traveling with the Doctor is I insisted on going by Yazmin, and not Yaz."

"The Doctor gave you that nickname?"

"Yes, she did."

"As you can tell when I saw the Doctor again, they still refused to call me Dorothy."

"You seemed to like being called Ace by them.''

"For some reason you are right Graham, I didn't mind."

"When we were trying to save you three, the Doctor called me Ace."

"I am sorry, I would never think that they would do it. I can assure you The Doctor and I had a different relationship than the two of you. My Doctor was more like a teacher and sometimes father especially when I wanted to drink some alcohol," Ace says with an eye roll.

"They still miss you."

"I missed them at times too. In fact the reason I got involved with everything that happened is because I knew that with UNIT gone, I had to keep an eye on things. Though no one else knows this, I built A Charitable Earth in London to keep an eye on UNIT."

"You did?"

"Yep, also I knew The Brigagear would appreciate me keep an eye on his daughter."

"Who is he?"

"He was a very old friend of the Doctor, according to the Doctor, they met when they were in their second body."

"Now they are in their 13th."

"14th, there is one body they don't count."

"Why?"

"How much of you heard of The Time War?"

"Not much, just that they saved their planet by putting it in a time lock, and the Master was able to get out of one and that is how the Doctor disappeared."

"So the basics, they were in their 9th body then, but didn't count it as they thought they killed many kids."

"You know the Master?"

"If course I do, that man trapped the Doctor and I on a cheetah planet. If it wasn't for me changing we wouldn't have been able to get back. Thanks to the Doctor I never fully transitioned, so I will never be one and hunger for humans." The eyes around the table all go wide at her confession. "You guys know that traveling with the Doctor is dangerous."

"Yeah we know, Ryan and I lost Grace when we first met her." Dorothy's eyes go soft at the mention of losing a loved one.

"I am sorry for your loss."

"We are doing better, aren't we Grandad?"

"We are, our family has grown since then."

"It has. Dad and I are having lunch again tomorrow."

"Speaking of lunch, I will be helping Yaz with her search tonight and during the weekends, I was wondering if any of you would like to help from time to time," Dorothy looks at Graham with a slight nod.

"I can help some days."

"I don't know."

"Ryan we were just talking about how your family has grown. The Doctor has repeatedly called us Fam."

"Ok guess. Look, I need to head back to my own flat." Ryan leaves after receiving a bit of a guilt trip.
