Chapter 1: I Hired A Specialist
It was a sunny Saturday at noon in Amity Park. Our favorite couple was currently hanging out at Star's house.
They were on the couch, talking about recent events.
"That was one heck of a night last night, huh?" Danny asks.
"You mean with that giant plant monster that looked like Cthulhu if Lovecraft based him on a salad bar?" Star responded.
"Yeah…" Danny responded with a light laugh.
"He seriously looked like an eldritch horror." Star said.
"Granted, he's not as cool looking as the real thing..." He joked, making his girlfriend giggle.
"True..." She admitted.
Once she was done, Danny wrapped his arm around her, earning a smile from her.
"That homework is all done..." Danny said.
"So… we got your house to ourselves since my dad's out of town with Solene." Star said.
"Where'd they go?" Danny asks.
"Some big lawyer convention that's being held at the state capital. To be honest, I don't completely care since I got you all to myself now…" Star said, hands snaking their way to Danny.
"Well, seeing as I didn't see Colette yesterday, I'm in a very happy mood." Danny responded.
"Same here. I'm glad my mom and Jean Puke dragged her during their trip to visit my great aunt and her family. My mom's cousin apparently hates Jean-Luc's guts, so I gotta remember to send the guy a Christmas card." Star said.
"Glad to see that he's a good judge of character..."Danny said.
"I'll say..." Star said, before placing her hand on his.
This earned a flirty smile from the ghost boy.
The two proceeded to start making out when a gagging sound caught their attention.
"Can you please do that when I'm not around?" Sam asks.
It took the lovebirds a moment to recall they had invited Sam, who sat across from them, and Tucker, who was raiding the kitchen, over to do some homework. Despite this, Star sent a disapproving scowl at her.
"No offense, Sam, but it's my house. If I want my boyfriend and I to stick our tongues in each others' mouths, so be it." She responded.
Sam rolled her eyes and picked up her book.
"Well, I'm done with history. May as well finish math in the bathroom, where I at least have a place to vomit into." She said.
That's when Tucker sat next to her, holding a comically large bag of potato chips.
"Learn to lighten up, Sam." He said before opening the bag and taking a handful into his mouth.
As he chewed with his mouth open, Star scowled at the mess he made.
"And he wonders why I, Ashley and all the other girls turned him down…" She said.
30 minutes later
After the group finished the remainder of their homework, Star and Danny got all cuddly again.
"All done! Now…" Star said as she inched closer to Danny.
"Ugh…" Sam went, looking away.
Star leaned into Danny, ready to kiss him.
"Now now… don't give your father grandchildren so quickly." A woman's voice chided playfully.
Star gasped, getting back up as she saw who was watching them from the kitchen.
"Georgia?!" She questioned loudly.
"Hello, everyone." She said.
"Hi Georgia." Danny and Tucker went in unison.
"Hey…" Sam went, more neutral sounding than the rest.
"What are you doing here? Isn't today your day off?" Star asks, getting up and walking towards her.
"Just came to grab a few things I left behind. I need them for tonight." Georgia said, gesturing to a suitcase filled with clothes, knick knacks, and a few of her cookbooks.
"What's tonight?" Star asks.
"I need my cookbook to make something for my sister and her guests. You see… I just found out that my sister's house may be haunted." Georgia said.
"It is?" Star asks.
"Sí, lo es." She responded in Spanish.
Danny, joining Star with his two best friends, wrapped an arm around his girlfriend as he spoke to her housemaid.
"Well, no worries. If you two need help, my parents can step in." He offered.
Georgia gave a nervous chuckle.
"Uh… no offense, Danny. Your parents are wonderful people, and I like them as friends… but they tend to cause more property damage than most ghosts." She responded.
"They don't cause that much property da-" He stopped himself, realizing he was about to tell a lie. "Actually… never mind."
"Right… so… to avoid any risk to my sister's home which she is still paying off, I decided to get someone else. I had to work overtime a month to handle it to help her pay for half the fee." Georgia said.
"I was wondering why you pulled those extra hours." Star said as he realized what Georgia was earlier talking about. "So, those guests are the ghost hunters?"
"I hired a specialist." Georgia responded.
"Who? The Guys in White?" Danny asks.
"The Extreme Ghostbreakers?" Tucker asks.
"The Groovy Gang and Scaredy Cat?" Sam asks.
"The huntress in black and red?" Star asks.
"Mr. Drew Myrtles." Georgia responded.
It was a name known only to Danny and his two best friends, all of whom raised an eyebrow each. Star, however, looked lost until someone spoke up.
"That TV guy?" Sam asks.
"Who is that?" Star asks.
"He's a ghost hunter, but not like my parents. He's more the "aim a camera" and try to call out the ghost kind." Danny said.
"He's got all sorts of cool tech, but he's clearly not what television makes him out to be. 90% of the internet swears that he's just using special effects and smoke and mirrors on his show." Tucker added.
"He's a snake oil salesman, an out-and-out fake." Sam said angrily.
"Oh no, he's very good. He offered to help us for half the price he'd offer, $5,000 instead of $10,000." Georgia said.
"Uh… you wouldn't have to pay that much if you asked us." Danny pointed out.
"Again, no offense, but I cannot risk any damage to my sister's house. It's been in our family since our papa came here..." Georgia said.
"When does he and his crew show up?" Star asks.
"Around 6." Georgia said.
Sensing something amiss, Star thought what to say next.
"Maybe I should come? Ju-just for kicks." Star said.
"I'll come too." Danny said.
"Me too." Sam went, sensing something wrong.
"Sure… I'll go along. Got nothing else to do." Tucker said, eating more chips.
"Okay, the more the merrier." Georgia said as she nodded and headed to the door.
Once she was gone, the four turned their attention to one another.
"You're thinking Georgia's hired a fake, right?" Sam asks.
"Definitely, I don't want her to get scammed by someone. I get the feeling this guy isn't what she needs." Star responded.
"Not at all in the least. Dude more than likely faked all of his supposed encounters with the paranormal in the past 5 years." Tucker said.
"When you've dealt with real ghosts, you do a better job of telling apart the fakes… well, unless you're my dad and it's Halloween and you get on Chief Boyle's bad side…" Danny said.
"So, we're all in agreement? We go, keep Georgia from being conned and take care of whatever ghost is around ourselves?" Star asks.
All of them nodded, doing a four person group fist bump to show they mean it.
4 Hours Later
Danny had gone home to get some extra thermoses, Fenton Phones and other gadgets for this night, hoping he wouldn't need them but figured that was pointless to hope for.
Got what I need. I just hope we can get this done before Georgia and her sister lose their money… He thought, concerned for the idea they were being scammed.
Georgia has always treated him kindly since he started dating Star and her sister Alyssa is nice too. While he could understand their fear of property damage, he didn't trust who was supposedly helping them..
Once he had everything, he was about to leave home.
"I'm heading out!" He said as he was making his way downstairs.
However, just as he was heading out the door, that's when he heard them.
"DANNY!" His parents went, sounding upset.
Turning his head, he saw his parents racing towards him before going past him and blocking the door.
"Uh… yes?" Danny asks.
"We know where you're going!" Jack went.
"Where?" Danny asks.
Jazz, reading a book on the couch, lowered it to see what unfolded.
"We know that fake Drew Myrtles is in town and we know from Johnathan that the neighborhood he's currently seen in is the one Georgia's sister lives in. You're going with Star there, aren't you?" Maddie asks.
Seeing that he was caught, he groaned and rolled his eyes
"And if I am?" Danny asked.
"Then you are in serious trouble for keeping that from us." Jack said, looking angry and insulted.
Danny shook his head, knowing this won't be fun as Jazz sent her parents a flat look.
"Mom, Dad… are you really that competitive with other ghost hunters?" Jazz asks as she gets up.
"We are when they're fakes!" Maddie said.
"So he doesn't shoot lasers at them…" Jazz said with an eye roll.
"He also doesn't even deal with real ghosts!" Jack said.
"S-Sorry Dad. But… right now… Georgia and her sister just really need someone who can handle a ghost more… delicately." Danny said, trying to avoid more conflict.
"Delicately?" Maddie asks.
"Well, there's a reason 99.99 people on the street this week say they'd rather Danny Phantom deal with a ghost than you." Jazz said, recalling a poll she read.
"They'd rather a filthy ghost deal with ghosts than us?!" Maddie asks.
"Well, at least .01% is smart." Jack said.
"Actually… no one asked this week said they want you to save them from ghosts." Jazz said.
"Then who got the other .01%?" Jack asks.
"That red huntress…"Jazz said, earning shocked looks from her parents.
"That amateur?!" Maddie shouted, sounding a mixture of being upset and possibly even jealous.
"I don't think an amateur is capable of capturing more ghosts than you guys, and with less property damage..."Jazz pointed out.
"And yet they'd rather her and that Phantom punk than us!" Jack pointed out.
"Though, to be fair, I think it was a bunch of teenage boys who really wanted a date that said they wanted her to save them. Still, she has been known to get the job done more delicately" Jazz said with an eye roll.
"Hmph! Delicately?!" Jack went, pulling out his blaster. "You can't handle a ghost delicately! Watch, I'm going to march over there and get rid of Georgia's ghost right now!"
"Jack… we have a job tonight at the art exhibit." Maddie reminded him.
"Actually, they called. They said they want you as far away from the exhibit as possible. The allegedly haunted relics they have are a necessary evil after what they heard happened at that abandoned hospital last week." Jazz said.
"It was an accident!" Jack said.
"Dad… you almost destroyed half the block when you forgot to bring something with less firepower than a tank. There's a reason OSHA threatened to take the RV away until you complied and added safety features.." Danny said.
"Come on!" Jack went as he pet his blaster like an animal. "Jack Fenton isn't afraid to get dangerous, he laughs at the face of death!"
"He also speaks in the third person too often…" Jazz grumbled.
"My point is, I'm not afraid to take risks, but I'm not super clumsy as to cause property damage in an instant." He said as he accidentally pulled the trigger of his blaster.
That was a mistake that ended up ruining his night, as the blaster ended up going off and broke throught window. That wasn't the end of it, however. The sound of something getting hit by the blast caught their attention.
"FENTONS!" A voice familiar to the parents shouted.
Both the patriarch and matriarch of the household slowly turned to face each other, realizing fate had dealt them another terrible hand.
"Oh… please don't tell me that was Chief Boyle and I hit his cruiser again.." Jack begs as Jazz looks out the window.
She saw a certain officer well acquainted with the Fentons over the past year marching towards their house, away from his car with a hole in the side that was both leaking water and releasing smoke.
"Oh, it was Chief Boyle and you hit his cruiser again." Jazz said with a flat tone.
"Uh… y'know what? I'll spend the night in… I converted one of the stockades into a fridge, I'll be in there!" Jack went as he dropped his blaster and ran for it.
"Jack! Get back here right this moment! Take responsibility for your actions!" Maddie scolded him as left the room.
A loud series of knocks was heard, almost breaking the door open, causing Maddie to gasp and step back.
"OPEN THIS DOOR NOW OR SO HELP ME THAT YOU WILL FIND A MUCH FRIENDLIER FACE FROM THE DEVIL HIMSELF!" Boyle shouted angrily.
"Oh, is he mad? Don't open it…" Maddie said nervously with a finger by her mouth as she inched away.
"I HEARD THAT! OPEN THIS DOOR!" Boyle shouted, terrifying Maddie even further.
"I'll be in the stockade with your father." Maddie whispered as she ran in the same direction as Jack.
Jazz groaned as she offered a hand to Danny.
"I'll come too, anywhere is better than here for the next few hours." Jazz said.
Danny nodded, taking her hand as the two turned invisible and left.
"FENTONS!" Boyle shouted as he kept knocking hard.
New side story for the Stranded series.
Made with help from Flower princess11.
I based this on the The Real Ghostbusters episode "The Spirit of Aunt Lois".
For those who don't know, Chief Boyle was a character I helped to create, named after Bob Boyle, art direction from the animated series. Now I get to use him.
