Hey guys! So, I missed last week, but I did warn you a while back that I'd have trouble getting things up and there wouldn't be a schedule. I am trying to get things on as often as I can, I really am, but a lot of things are keeping me from doing that. Like I've said, school, drivers ed, family, random things that come up... Yeah.
But I can talk more at the end of the story. For now, enjoy this odd little story I came up with and all the friendship that goes with it!
WARNING: Very cheesy. I was very tired when I wrote this. So.
Disclaimer: No, I really don't own rotg and it depresses me every time I have to say it. But these OCs are mine. Yay OCs!

I'm so bored!" Violet moans from her position sitting backward on a couch, with her head touching the ground.
"Okay. So what are you going to do about it?" Aaron asks, not even sparing her a glance. He's too engrossed in a book to pay her any heed. Aaron himself sits cross-legged on the same couch, leaning back, completely relaxed.
Violet groans, banging her head lightly on the floor. "I don't know! Seriously, we're sitting in the biggest, most amazing toy factory in the world, and there's nothing we can do."
Aaron chuckles. They'd been playing hide-and-go-seek in the Warren, but Bunny had sent them away about an hour ago. Easter is nearing, and he needed to focus on painting eggs and making last minute preparations. The two had come to the workshop in the hopes of finding something to do, but North had sent them away, too busy taking care of some heating issues. He'd told them to stay in the library, the only place with enough fireplaces to stay warm even without heaters. It's an endlessly large place, but when they'd tried exploring, they'd realized it's only warm next to the fireplaces. Now they're lounging on some couches. Aaron had told Violet to go find a book, but she'd been extra hyperactive today and couldn't focus on reading. So, of course, she'd been bothering Aaron about finding something to do.
Out of the corner of his eye, Aaron sees Violet push up on her elbows and look at him. "Come on, help me! If we don't start doing something fast, I'll die of boredom!"
Aaron rolls his eyes, taking them off his book for the first time since he'd picked it up (he'd gotten surprisingly good at multitasking over his time of knowing Violet). Really, the girl is way too melodramatic for her own good. "I already gave my opinion on what you can do."
Aaron smirks as he hears her grown again, head flopping back against the floor. "I can't! Come on, there has to be something!" She exclaims.
Aaron shakes his head once more before going back to ignoring her. Therefore, he doesn't notice when Violet leaps to her feet and is completely surprised when she grabs his arm and drags him off the couch. The book slips from his hands and he gives a yelp as he lands quite ungracefully on the ground.
Aaron blinks slightly in disbelief before glaring up at Violet. And then cringing at the look on her face. Oh, gosh. She's smiling that way. That way that always means she's planning something, and whenever she's planning something, somebody gets hurt or something goes wrong and they get in trouble.
Aaron sighs and lets his head fall to the ground, eyes briefly slipping shut. Why am I always the one with the crazy friends?
Aaron feels a small kick to his side, but only lets out a small groan in response. "Come on, Aaron! Get up! We're going to do something!" Violet whines.
It's takes all his effort, but Aaron pushes down his smile. No, he won't give the girl the satisfaction of dragging him into one of her stupid ideas, not yet, anyway. "But why? I'm at a really good part in my book!" He complains, putting as much whine in his voice as Violet has in hers. It isn't a lie. He really is at a good part in his book.
It takes all his control to keep down a smirk as Violet gives an almost animalistic growl. "I'm sure it's not that great!" She pauses a moment, before adding, "and I wouldn't care if it was. You're coming whether you like it or not."
*(spoiler alert for Maze Runner)* Aaron shoots into a sitting position and stares at Violet with wide eyes. "How can you say that?! Thomas just ran into the maze after Minho, and he's trying to tie Alby up with vines to keep him out of the grievers' reaches, but the grievers are coming closer and closer, and even if he manages to save Alby, how will he ever save himself?!"
For a moment, Violet just stares at Aaron, one eyebrow raised. "You're reading The Maze Runner?" She says more as a statement than a question.
Aaron nods, picking up the book and holding it to his chest. "Chuck, Minho, Thomas, and Newt are my favorites, and I absolutely hate Gally."
Violet snickers and turned away walking over to a row of books and examining them. "Just wait until you reach the end of this book. And then when you get to The Death Cure..." She whistles and snickers again, looking back at Aaron with what can only be described as pure evilness.
Aaron stares at her with wide eyes, clutching the book tighter. "What happens?" He whispers, almost afraid of the answer.
Violet's menacing smile widens and she laughs maniacally. "Oh, I won't tell you. You'll have to read to find out!"
If it's possible, Aaron's eyes widen even more. The next second, he has the book open again and is reading it as quickly as possible, desperate to reach the end. But Violet's cruelty apparently hadn't ended. Suddenly, the book is pulled from his hands, and he finds himself staring up at Violet's triumphant face.
"No, I have to reach the end!" He cries out desperately, leaping to his feet and grabbing for the book, but Violet pushes him back with her free hand, holding him and the book as far apart from each other as she can.
"No, you have to come with me and find something to do! You can finish it after I'm not bored anymore." She says, and Aaron immediately knows that there's no questioning her. She'd probably throw the book in the fire if it means not being bored.
He sighs, giving up his mad grab for the book and crossing his arms with a huff. "Fine, but if I get no sleep tonight trying to finish it, I'm blaming you." He grumbles angrily.
Violet lets out a cheer, grabbing her staff and flying up to lay the book at the very top of the skyscraper-like book shelves. Then she grabs his arm and starts pulling him deeper into the library. He quickly pulls away and stares at her oddly.
"I thought we already decided that it's a bad idea to explore. It's too cold around here." He says, truly debating if his friend is sane.
She frowns at him and crosses her arms with a huff. "Well, do you have any better ideas?" When no response comes, she sighs and looks around. Her face lights up and she flies back to the couch, reaching into a basket beside the fireplace and pulling out... Two blankets.
"Look, we'll just wrap ourselves in these blankets and we'll be just fine! Surely it isn't that cold!" She reassures.
Aaron frowns, going through any possible issues in her idea. It's highly possible that the blankets won't be near enough to keep the young spirits warm, but otherwise... They might as well try, right?
After a few more minutes of debate, Aaron gives in with a shrug and a nod, raising another cheer from Violet. She quickly wraps him in his blanket, make sure he's completely covered before wrapping the other blanket around herself. Aaron watches her carefully, making sure she wraps herself as well as possible. The girl is extremely prone to the cold, being a spring spirit and all. She'd have more trouble if she was a summer spirit, but luckily, she's not.
"We stop if we start feeling too cold." Aaron states, and Violet nods in agreement. Satisfied, Aaron allows the team to begin venturing deeper into the maze of shelves. It doesn't take long for the chill of the air to start reaching their skin through the blankets, and it sends both spirits into shivering wrecks.
After just a few minutes, Aaron turns to Violet, ready to send them back to the warm fireside, but the look on her face stops hims short. She seems so happy, so excited. Her eyes are filled with that wonder and curiosity that Aaron just can't seem to say no to. He loves to see that excitement and liveliness in her eyes. It gives him a look at the true child she holds inside, and he loves it.
It makes her even more like a little sister, along with a best friend.
Taking a deep breath, Aaron forces himself to stay quiet and allows the pair to continue on. He does move closer, though, trying to give Violet a tiny bit of his body warmth. She happily nestles into his side, gripping his arm tightly in an attempt to calm her shivers.
Aaron smiles softly at her, but doesn't say anything about it.
It isn't long before they find themselves lost.
"Seriously, Violet? Now look what you've done! We're lost in a giant library in the middle of the biggest workshop in the world while the heaters aren't working." Aaron rants, looking around carefully in an attempt to find where they came from.
"Oh, it isn't that bad!" Violet argues, but her face shows the same amount of worry as Aaron's.
Aaron stares at her, shaking his head slowly. "We're going to freeze to death! And no one will be able to find us because we don't even know where we are!"
Violet frowns, squeezing his hand as if to make sure he's still there. "Hey, it'll be fine. We'll just... We'll just go back the way we came."
"And which way is that?" Aaron asks a bit frantically, looking around desperately in the hopes of finding some sign of the path they took.
Violet bites her lip and looks around before pointing in a random direction. "Why don't we try that way."
Aaron sighs, but doesn't argue. He doesn't really have any other ideas, anyway.
Another hour passes, and they don't find their way back. All of the bookshelves look the same, and in all truthfulness, Aaron doesn't even know if they've made any headway.
Needless to say, they don't find the way out.
"I told you this was a bad idea." Aaron murmurs for the umpteenth time. Violet, yet again, sighs and rolls her eyes, done with lavishing him with responses.
Aaron sighs yet again, eyes roving the shelves nervously. There are no signs of where they are or where they're going. Well, except for the extreme amount of dust covering the books. Obviously, people haven't been to these parts for a long time.
By the time they reach the open space, Aaron's fingers have gone completely numb. And sadly, nothing in the clearing can help with that fact. Well, there is a fireplace off to the side, but it isn't burning. And there's also a large white blanket covering an unseen object in the very center of the area.
"What's that?" Violet immediately asks, pulling away from Aaron and walking straight over to the hidden object. Aaron shivers from the sudden lack of body heat, glaring after Violet. Her curiosity would be the death of them.
"Can't we just focus on getting out of here? The longer we're here, the colder we get." Aaron says, already very annoyed with everything. He's cold, and thirsty, and hungry, and why couldn't she have just let him finish his book?
Aaron could practically hear her rolling her eyes as she examined the covered object. "The only reason we even got lost was because we were exploring. If we don't find out what this is, all of it was for nothing." Violet says matter-of-factly. "Now come help me with this."
Aaron sighs and mutters a few more grumbles before walking over to where Violet stands. Of course, if Aaron were being honest with himself, he's just as curious as Violet. He hadn't followed her out hear just because she asked. Though part of the reason was because she took his book, the other was because he couldn't deny himself of an adventure. And sadly, this is an adventure.
Under Violet's instructions, Aaron moves to the opposite side of the hidden object and grabs onto the edge of the blanket.
"Ready?" Violet asks. Aaron nods, and she counts off. "One... Two... Three!" Together, the two young spirits pull on the blanket, sending dust into the air as it slides gracefully to the floor.
Aaron coughs on the dust, using his arm to bat it out of his airspace before looking at the now-uncovered object. His jaw promptly falls open, quickly causing him to cough on dust yet again.
Sitting in front of them is an elegant, black grand piano. Having been covered by the blanket, its surface is completely free of dust. The elegant black wood is well-preserved, as beautiful and shining as the day it was made. The three feet are etched in a shimmering gold, whose designs run in swirling patterns up a ways towards the body before stopping. The fall board covers the keys, but Aaron expects that they're a beautiful rich ivory and midnight black, maybe with imprinted fingerprints from much use. The bench is pulled out ever so slightly, as if it had been waiting years for a master.
"Well, that was a let down." Violet mutters, frowning in disappointment as she examines the instrument. "I was hoping for something a bit more worth it."
Aaron watches her wonder off, frowning slightly himself. How is finding a piano hidden deep within a never-ending library not exciting? Aaron thinks to himself. I think it's great! He shakes his head, turning back to examine the beautiful instrument.
Gently, he lifts the fall board. Just as he'd guessed, the keys are colored in intense blacks and whites, slightly worn with fingerprints from use. Slowly and carefully, he sits down on the bench, making sure that it will take his weight before sitting on it fully. His hands run over the keys, and he's surprised to find that they feel as if they were made from real ivory. They feel absolutely perfect under his fingertips, and he finds them settling themselves into first position. They fit absolutely perfectly, like pieces in a puzzle. A smile flits across his face and he closes his eyes, letting his fingers press down delicately on the antique.
In seconds, a beautiful melody fills the room. Aaron's fingers move completely on their own, while their master sways to the music, eyes still closed and smile still gracing his face.
The boy finds himself sitting at a different piano in another life time. He, only a five-year-old child, sits on the lap of an older man. His fingers don't touch the keys here, keeping a decent distance away, allowing the man's fingers to create the beautiful melody. His fingers fly across the white and black expanse, barely touching one before heading for another. The boy's eyes follow the fluttering fingers, trying to keep up with the movements, memorize every last second of this. It seems like both seconds and ages before the fingers finally lift from the keys. The boy looks up at the older man, who smiles down at him, slipping his arms around the boy's small form in a hug. The boy doesn't hesitate in returning it, struggling to turn around and give him a decent hug.
Aaron's eyes slip open as his fingers lift off the instrument, having already pressed down on the last ringing note. But the smile doesn't leave. No, it could never leave, not with that memory.
"I never knew you could play." Aaron turns his head to see Violet standing behind him, a small distance away, as if afraid to approach and ruin the moment. Aaron smiles and scoots over, patting the empty part of the seat next to him. She pauses a second before flying the short distance over and slipping onto the seat.
"You never asked, and I've never had a reason to tell you." Aaron answers simply, sending her a small half-smile.
Violet's fingers run across the keys, her eyes fixed on them in wonder before she looks back at him, eyes glittering the same way they had earlier. "How long have you... You know. Been able to play?" She asks, and Aaron finds himself completely melting under her innocent gaze.
"Ever since my last life. My grandfather loved to play. I watched him play when I was a child, and as soon as I was old enough to press down on the keys, he taught me. It didn't take long for me to become a master, not with a great teacher like him." Aaron explains, letting his fingers trail across the keys, playing a light tune.
"What happened to him?" Violet asks, watching Aaron's face carefully.
His fingers stop and his smile wavers slightly. "He died. Just after my tenth birthday." He whispers, closing his eyes against the sadness he'd worked so hard to bury.
"I'm sorry." Violet whispers, wrapping her arms around her friend. He leans into the touch, taking comfort in the warmth, but he keeps his fingers on the keys.
"It's fine, it was in another life time. I moved on a long time ago." He says softly, allowing himself to continue pressing against the white and black expanse.
"Just because you moved on doesn't mean the pain is gone. You can still miss him, and find comfort in friends." Aaron looks over at her, at her reassuring smile and comforting eyes, at the kindness written into every feature of her face. She he knows she's right. Of course, he knows. He'd always known. But it seems so much more true, coming from his best friend.
"Yeah. Yeah, I know." Aaron says softly, smiling and reaching out a single arm to hug her back before returning to the piano.
Hours pass before the Guardians find them. By then, Violet had long since fallen asleep, head leaning against Aaron's shoulder and blanket wrapped around her shoulders as her friend continued to play with outstanding talent.
Tooth is the first to find them. As soon as she flies into the clearing, her mouth opens to cry out in excitement, but she's quickly shushed by Aaron.
"Don't make so much noise, Violet's sleeping!" Aaron hisses, shaking his head at her before returning the the piano. Tooth just stares at him for a second, stunned, before sitting on the floor to wait for the others.
She doesn't have to wait long. The other Guardians are quick to follow the sound of music, and as each appear, they receive the same treatment. After Bunny arrives (the last one, as it were), Aaron continues sitting there silently for a few moments more, finishing off the song with a light sweep of his hand. He lets the notes ring for a moment before gently turning to face the Guardians, moving Violet so that her head rests in his lap. The girl lets out a soft sigh and snuggles closer to Aaron before calming again.
There's a moment of silence before anyone speaks. "Aaron... I did not know you have such talent." North says in a quiet voice, glancing at Violet to make sure she hadn't woken up before focusing back on Aaron.
The boy shrugs, absently stroking Violet's hair. "No one ever asked." He answers simply.
"Well, now we know, and you'll have to play for us more often." Tooth decides excitedly, though quietly, a huge smile on her face.
Aaron chuckles and shakes his head. "Sure, why not? I don't really mind. I'm a bit rusty, though. It's been a few decades."
Sandy scoffs and forms pictures above his head, showing Aaron playing a piano with a beautiful array of notes coming from them. From the looks of it, he's saying that Aaron isn't rusty in the slightest.
"You said it, Sandy! Yer a natural, kid. Neva heard anyone betta." Bunny agreed, moving forward and gently picking Violet up, cradling her in his arms. "Now let's get outta here. My tail's freezin' off."
"Finally!" Arron sighs happily. "I've been waiting to finish my book!"

So... How did you like it? :)
I know, I know. It was WAY too cheesy. But I was really tired when I wrote this, and it just sort of... Happened. So. Yeah. Anyway. I like the idea that Aaron can play an instrument, because, you have to admit, music just makes romance that much better. And he is the spirit of love... Fits, doesn't it? I may give him a natural talent with other instruments as well, but I think the piano will be the only that has to do with his former life.
And also, that was your first look at Aaron's former life. Bet you didn't think about that, huh? ;D
By the way, who's excited for the Divergent and Maze Runner movies? I am!
Well, no one told me their favorite color, but I did get a few more favorite cookies. I guess none of you really care about my questioning. I just thought it'd be fun. For anyone who cares, my favorite color is rainbow. Yes, it's a color. :P
So! This week's question: What is your favorite animal? I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours!
Please review, tell me what you think, what I could improve on, what I'm doing well, ideas you might have, requests, say hi... I don't care. But do review, please!
Ta for now!
