Alright, here is your last story before I leave for vacation! I've found out that I will be gone for at least ten days starting on Thursday. We will be driving a lot and doing absolutely nothing, so I WILL have time to write! Which means you'll have new stories immediately!

Now, before I start, I want to know which you prefer: past tense like how I did this chapter and the last one, or present tense like I usually do? I need to know so that I know how to do future stories. You know, so I'm not jumping back and forth. I'll fix whatever stories that are not in your chosen tense and put them in that tense. I just need to know what your guys's opinions are so that I can decide. I'll bring this up again at the end, but please remember to let me know!

Warning: If you are deathly afraid of tornadoes like me, I suggest you skip this story, or are careful to realize this isn't real. I cried a bit while writing this because of my fear, so... Yeah. Now you know something else about me!

Disclaimer: I'm going to take a page out of sparkles888's book and have somebody else give the disclaimer after this story. It seems like a lot more fun than saying this myself repeatedly. So for the final time, I will say that, no, I do now own rotg. But I do own my wonderful, beautiful OCs.

~*~*~*...*~*~*~

It was a nice day, not too warm but not too cold, as Violet flew over the midwest area of the United States. She was clutching her staff in a death grip, holding on for dear life. After almost a week of fighting, she'd finally calmed the cold north wind that was continually tormenting the southern portion of the states. She wanted to bring warmth to the rest of the country as well, but she'd have to deal with them later. She was far too tired right now. In fact, she was heading back to the Warren right this second for some much needed rest.

As she flew, the air seemed to get colder and colder. She shivered, quietly urging to the wind to lower her into the atmosphere, where it was sure to be warmer. The wind obliged, dropping her below the cloud coverage so she was flying in the same space as the birds. Oddly enough, their were no birds in sight, but she didn't dwell on that fact. These areas were still suffering from winter weather.

She closed her eyes, taking in a deep breath. The air was fresh up here, where pollution didn't reach. It felt wonderful, even in her severe exhaustion. She would never get past her love of flying.

Violet frowned and opened her eyes as the wind shook a bit, growing a bit fiercer. She shushed it and calmed it down, sending it soothing words through her thoughts. Well, she thought that's what happened. Honestly, she didn't know how this interaction stuff with the wind worked. All she knew was that it worked. It didn't really matter how.

Still, even after the wind calmed, it seemed anxious. She frowned at this, confused by the winds cautiousness. It was usually cautious and careful, what with its very gentle and caring nature, but it was usually cautious in a think-before-you-act way, not a fearful way. This attitude was worrying her. Her wind was supposed to be innocent and childlike. It's never supposed to be afraid.

She was so caught up in her wondering that she didn't even notice the clouds darkening around her, and she definitely didn't notice the other spirit flying towards her until they practically ran into her. Violet let out a cry, reeling back, her wind swirling around her in a protective embrace. But the other spirit didn't seem to notice. The other spirit's hazel eyes stared at Violet for a moment, the kaleidoscope of warm, comforting colors swirling as much as her emotions seemed to be. Then she reached out a hand, grabbed Violet's arm, and dragged the other girl in the direction the former had come from.

"Hey, what are you-" Violet began, but was cut off by her own yelp as the other girl's long, extremely curly brown hair smacked her in the face, along with the strands of red that added to the crazy swirl of hair. The girl glanced back at her for a moment, eyes giving an apology, before they focused back on the flight ahead of them.

Violet looked up, trying to see where they were going, and was surprised to see that the sky was already a dark gray, almost black. And, for some reason, it was tinted with a touch of green. For a moment, Violet could only stare. What in the world...

"What's wrong with the sky? Where are we going?" She asked, looking to the girl in front of her. "And who are you?"

The girl glanced back at her again, quickly, before returning her gaze to the world ahead of her in worry. "If you don't have the answers to those first two questions already, then I can't answer them for you. At least, not until we get there. But my name is Harvey." She said, glancing back at Violet yet again. "And what about you?" Her voice sounded nervous, as if she was only conversing right now because she was afraid and needed relief of some sort.

Violet was happy to try to help. "My name is Violet. I'm the spirit of Spring, and I kind of just finished up warming up the southern portion of the US and was heading home to rest. So..." She paused for a minute, trying to think of a polite way to say it. Thinking of none, she blurted out the first thing that came to mind. "What's going on that I, um... That I have the pleasure of meeting you?"

Harvey bit her lip, looking back with an almost fearful expression. "Well, that's wonderful. Now we have all four seasonal spirits on the scene. Nice and dandy." She muttered sarcastically. Violet gave her an odd look, and she sighed. "Sorry, it's just... What's going on... Again, if you don't have the answers yet, I won't be able to give them to you." She looked forward again, and her face dropped with a newly ignited dread. "Of course, it shouldn't be that hard to guess now."

Violet followed her gaze, and her heart just about stopped. Up ahead, swirling down from the sky, was a ginormous funnel cloud. It hadn't quite touched down on the ground, but it was so close that it might as well have. Screeching sirens filled the air, warning farmers of the danger the two girls were staring in the face. How had Violet not heard them? And how could she have not noticed the green hue that the gray sky had taken? And the way her wind had reacted...

It was so obvious. Violet didn't know how she could have just bypassed all the facts.

A tornado was about to touch down.

Violet immediately went into survival mode. She moved her arm so that she was holding onto Harvey's wrist rather than Harvey holding hers. Sh ignored the other girl's protests and started pulling them away from the danger.

"Come on, we need to find cover and hide! There's no way we'll survive that monstrosity out in the open!" Violet said, desperately trying to pull Harvey away, but the other girl would have none of it.

"No!" Harvey practically screamed, desperately trying to keep moving towards the funnel of destruction. "No, we have to help them! That's no regular tornado, my friend got in a fight and it started up around them! Please, we have to help them!"

That stopped Violet in her tracks. She let go of Harvey's arm, watching as the other girl flew a few feet away before turning around to stare at her with desperate eyes. Her hand went up to finger at a pennant that hung around her neck. "Please. He's my best friend. I only left because I needed to find someone to help. I don't know what to do, I don't want either of them hurt..."

Violet flew forward and grabbed Harvey's arm with her free hand, squeezing it comfortingly. "Woh woh woh. Rewind and start from the beginning. Where did all of this begin?" She asked, watching the funnel cloud carefully. "And please hurry. We don't have much time."

Harvey didn't even pause a second before delving into her story. "Well, Luke's been my friend for a long time. As in, he found me just after I was created and was there when I opened my eyes for the first time. He was there when MiM told me everything about myself, and he's been by my side ever since. Well, as much as he can be. We both have jobs that we have to attend to. He's actually the spirit of Summer, and I'm the spirit of Autumn. Really, it's odd that we get along so well, seeing as I'm the one that sends him away each year you know, Jack Frost? "

She didn't get to finish her thought. A ripping sound cut her off, and the two girls looked up to find a horrible sight. The tornado had touched down, if it could even be called that. It was huge, monstrous. Within seconds, the farm house sitting just a few yards away was torn off the ground and pulled into the twister. Violet prayed that the family that lived there was safely tucked away in the cellar. If they had been in that house... No. She couldn't even think about it. They had to be okay.

Violet felt Harvey's hand grab onto hers, squeezing it tightly. She squeezed back just as tightly. Who she was comforting, she couldn't say, but at that point, it didn't really matter. They were both scared to death. Violet watched as the twister tore through fields of crops, destroying everything in its path. As it picked up shrapnel and debris, it grew in size. Harvey and Violet were still dozens of miles away, but they could feel the suction of the winds pulling at them.

Violet bit her lip. In all truthfulness, she had no clue of what to do. Really, what could she do? The tornado had touched down. It was a horrible size, tearing up fields, moving at terrifying speeds. How do you stop a monster like that? How do you fight off an uncontrollable being of nature?

And that's when Violet knew. She knew exactly what she had to do, no matter how terrifying it was. Before she could second-guess herself, she was flying directly towards the heart of the twister. She ignored Harvey's terrified scream behind her, and fought against her wind as it desperately tried to pull her away from the source of destruction. But as soon as she was within a hundred yards of the twister, there was no going back. The winds of the twister latched on to her and yanked her towards the eye of the storm.

Within seconds, she found herself completely surrounded by darkness.

Violet took in a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself, but found herself coughing and choking on the dust-filled air. Her heart beat faster as she tried to find her breath. Oh, no. She thought, her mind suddenly overcome with fear. Oh, this was a horrible idea. I really should start thinking before acting. Sadly, there was no going back.

She closed her eyes and forced herself to think. Okay, what can you use to filter the air you breathe? She wasn't wearing anything too helpful in that area. She could always pull up the collar of her shirt, but that wouldn't help much. Plus, that would leave her stomach exposed to... Well, everything.

What else? Come on, think. You're going to survive your stupidity. Oh! That bandage around her upper arm! She'd injured herself earlier and had wrapped it up to wait for her to check on it. She reached under her sleeve and deafly untied it, quickly pressing it against her lips. She took in a deep breath and found it slightly easier to breathe. Not by much, but it was enough.

Okay, what else do you have to work with? She took inventory of what she had. Shoes and socks, a comfortable pair of jeans, her favorite lavender shirt, a comfortable cardigan, the bandage, another bandage around her left wrist, and, of course, her staff. Well, that wasn't much to go off of, but it would have to be enough. She was about to work on finding her bearings when a giant... Something flew out of nowhere and whopped her in the head.

For the next few seconds (or hours, as Violet deemed it), object after object came out of nowhere to knock into Violet, sending her reeling back and forth, trying to regain control, but completely unable to. She held onto her staff for dear life, knowing how easy it would be for a piece of debris to just knock it out of her grip. It really was a miracle that she held onto it, what with her being thrown around like a rag doll.

When Violet finally regained her senses, she found herself opening her eyes to an eerie light. It wasn't eerie because it was dark or shadowy; it was actually incredibly bright. It was eerie because, on every side of her, the storm continued to rage. The walls surrounding her were churning, twisting, and pure darkness. It was eerie, and so terrifying. She stood and flew into the air, moving with the tornado. If she stayed in the same place, she would again be caught in those dark, churning walls, and that thought was terrifying above all others.

A scream of pain caught her attention. Violet spun around and watched as a figure was swung around the center of the tornado, carried along the walls. It looked like he was trying to get into the center with her, but he couldn't. The twister moved with him, refusing to let him have rest. His hair was covered in dirt, but it looked as if it used to be pure white, just like his pale, dirt covered skin. His brown cape and puffy white shirt were torn to shreds, and his bare feet didn't fair any better. He held a shepherd's staff in his hand, and Violet was surprised it was still in tact. He let out another cry before disappearing back into the darkness.

Another cry caught her attention. She turned to find another boy being thrown around through the darkness, his state similar to that of the other boy's, the only difference being his appearance. His skin was very tanned, made even darker from the dirt covering him. His hair looked like it was supposed to be a dirty blonde color, but it looked almost black from the dirt covering it. His shirt was in such tatters that Violet couldn't even tell what color it was, let alone what it was supposed to be. His shorts faired slightly better, but his legs were torn and bloody. His deep blue eyes met hers as he flew past, and she almost sobbed from the pain and fear in them. Then he was gone as well.

Violet took a deep breath and adjusted her grip on her staff. If she was to be truthful with herself, she had no clue what she was doing. She's gone in with no plan whatsoever, and she was quickly regretting her decision. How does one stop an EF5 tornado? It can't be an easy feat. But she has to find a way. Those must have been the two boys who had gotten into a fight and started the twister. And as much as she wanted to leave them to solve their own problem, she couldn't. It just wasn't the right thing to do. Plus, something told her that this twister wouldn't meet its end without her help.

Okay, think. A tornado starts when cold meets warm. So how would it stop? The obvious answer was when cold and warm were pulled apart, but that was easier said than done. She took a deep breath, and realized she still had the bandage pressed against her mouth. She pulled away and dropped it. She didn't really need it in the eye of the tornado. That left her a free hand, which she used to run her fingers through her hair, taking another calming breath.

Her eyes widened as she felt a wisp of her wind circle around her. It was gone the next second, but it had been there, even if it had just been a split second. She took a deep breath and held it, looking around for a possible route for her wind to have gotten in. There wasn't any clear path. Which means... It must have fought the winds of the tornado to get in. Which meant that it could fight the winds of the tornado. Her eyes lit up as an idea formed. It was crazy, insane even, and it was a long shot, but it might just work.

Violet took a deep breath and flew towards the ground. The twister got thinner the lower she went, and she soon found herself fighting not to get dragged back into the darkness. The sound was horrible, like a dozen trains blaring their horns right in your ears. The spirit winced against the noise, but refused to give in. She moved as close to the bottom as she could, then took a deep breath, closing her eyes for a moment, trying to steel her nerves.

The sound of screams was enough to spur her on. Without a second thought, she threw herself into the darkness, into the storm. The storm reacted immediately, relentlessly throwing her around. She didn't fight it, just pushed herself closer and closer to the ground. Something slammed into her back, and she screamed as she felt something (or multiple somethings) break inside of her. She ground her teeth together, forcing herself to ignore the pain. Another something flew past her, scraping across her side. An animal-like sound escaped her throat as she felt the thing slice through her flesh, but again, she forced herself to ignore it.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she felt the ground beneath her feet. The billowing wind tried to rip her back into the air, but she didn't give it a chance. Without even the slightest hesitation, Violet slammed the butt of her staff into the ground, letting out a cry as she did so. Her staff began to glow a violet color, starting where her hands touched it and spreading out before erupting in streaks of lightning through the storm.

Violet screamed, her eyes squeezing shut as she felt the power of the earth and the power of spring shooting through her. She could feel her wind surrounding her, caressing her, begging her to be okay. It pushed its way through the other winds of the tornado, creating a speed bump.

Within seconds, Violet could feel the tornado winds slowing around her, slowly but surely letting up. But she wouldn't let up. She kept her staff firmly planted in the ground, her eyes firmly shut.

She couldn't tell how much time went past, but suddenly, she felt something large and heavy slam into her. She felt a few more somethings inside her break, but that wasn't all. She felt her grip on her staff loosen, and the next second, she was again being thrown through the twister, this time without her staff to keep her in control.

She was alone.

A horrible pain, worse than any she had experienced before, shot through her, cutting into her soul. And with that, the darkness took her completely.

... I'm sorry?

Don't worry, there will be a part 2! You won't get it for, like, ten days, but... Hey, if you're mad at me, you should send me some hate mail in review form. ;D

Okay, okay, sorry. I know, I'm mean. But I will let you know, I'm not going to kill Violet. I was thinking about it, but my friend convinced me not to. This is the same friend who convinced me to give Lacy a beard, by the way. So... Thank her for all that. And then me for writing it. Yeah. :)

Okay, so back to the thing that I asked before I started this story. Do you like present tense or past tense for writing? I don't really mind, but I want to know what you guys like. Whichever you prefer, I'll write in that tense. So I REALLY need your opinions!

Also, I leave THURSDAY! Or, as it just so happens, TOMORROW! There is still time to send me your story requests, prompts, and ideas! I want lots to write while I'm gone! So please review and send me some ideas! It can be a story idea, or a character idea, or whatever! I'm not picky! Make it as precise or as lenient as you please. I don't really mind! I just want ideas so I won't run out!

Anyway, this is my first arc. I will do a part 2, as well as have a Harvey's point of view. Speaking of Harvey, how did you like my new character? Or characters... But you didn't really get to know Luke. Oh, but Jack Frost was in there! Yeah, it's his early years of being a spirit, just like Violet and Harvey and Luke... *cough* hint for future *cough cough* Oh, gosh, I think I'm catching a cold...

Anyway, I'll see you guys again soon! I'll have a new story posted as soon as I get back, or earlier if I get wifi in the New York airport! Hopefully I won't get carsick/airsick by writing... It's known to happen.

Anyway, I'll miss you guys! See you soon!

Ta for now!
