((Hi Guys! I know it's been a while since my last upload, but I didn't have a reliable computer for the past couple of months or so. However, I'm back and hope to finish this story. I'm excited to see what I decide to do with it. c': I had a lot of plans and I need to do some revisions because being a perfectionist, I'm NEVER happy with my own work. So, Sorry for the long message but thank you for supporting me by reading! I appreciate comments and constructive criticism as well. :3 And of course, don't be afraid to inbox me or anything, I don't bite!))

A few days have passed since I last saw Rat, and I can't stop thinking about him… I don't know what it is about him that seems so intriguing, but he makes me want to get to know him. I've never met someone so mysterious. I mean, every day since I met him I wake up and have hope that I'll see him again. That's why I'm here, sitting on an empty bench at the park. Curiosity killed the cat I guess… Actually this park is kinda mysterious too. It doesn't even have a name. Or maybe it does, but most residents just don't know it? Around here, everyone just knows. Maybe that's what Rat's like. I wonder if he has a name, or if he's just hiding it...

"What could you possibly be thinking about so hard?" A silky voice cooed from behind me.

I jumped in my seat. I knew that voice!

"Rat!" I grinned and shifted my body towards him. "Where have you been? I haven't seen you for a long time!"

"Pff," He scoffed. "It's only been a couple days. What's with the fuss?"

He paused, then smirked devilishly. "... Or have you been looking for me, flower boy?"

I blushed. "N-No!"

Rat shook his head. "I don't believe you, but it doesn't matter anyway. Don't get too attached to me… You'll only get hurt in the end." I saw the twinkle in his eyes disappear and my curiosity flared. What's his problem…?

"... I better go now."

"Wait!" I grabbed his wrist and looked up to him with pleading eyes. "I wanna talk to you!"

He stared almost emotionless back at me, but you could tell he was interested. He's not as good at hiding emotions as he might think. "About what?"

"Uh…" I looked down at my lap. What exactly did I wanna know about Rat? Just a minute ago I had tons of questions but it's like they all suddenly vanished. "Um… What's your favorite color?" I stumbled out.

His eyes widened and his face tinged pink. He masked his amusement horribly with a crooked smile. He combed his free hand's fingers through his hair and took a second to think over the question. "... I dunno."

I tilted my head, confused. "... You don't know?"

"Yeah…" He looked almost embarrassed. "Never thought about it I guess."

I smiled, "That's so… weird."
He wrestled his wrist out of my grip and stepped back, as if he was deeply offended. "Whaddaya mean it's 'weird'? Are you making fun of me?!"

I shook my head furiously, "No, no! I-I just wanted your opinion!"

"Hmm…" Rat crossed his arms over his chest. "Okay, well as of now, my favorite color is blue."

"Why blue?"

He avoided eye contact with me. "Because I said so, that's why."

"... Just asking…" I mumbled and rolled my eyes. The sudden silence made the atmosphere heavy. I don't like the quiet.

"I'm leaving." He cracked the silence, as if on cue. I looked up as he was walking away.

"Will I see you tomorrow?" I asked sheepishly; I almost wished he didn't hear me.

He paused and I could sense an oncoming smirk creeping onto his face like a snake. I didn't even need to see his face to know it was there. I just knew.

"...Sure."

And that's when I decided to go home. In these parts it's best to be home safe by dark. You never know what could happen. I just hoped Rat would and could keep his word.

That night I worried myself to sleep. He was my first and only friend, and I needed that.

I needed him.
