My stomach dropped and my head instantly cleared. I knew he would never leave permanently (it just didn't make any sense), but I didn't realise that he could've came back at any time. It didn't feel real to me; none of this did.

"Shiiiiiion… C'mere."

I shook my head, a weird nostalgic feeling coming back to me. It made me sick. I backed up into the doorway and held a hand up to my chest. It felt like someone just ripped my heart out. I was in a stupor, why did this feel so unrealistic to me? He coughed violently, and it scared me into a full blown sprint to my room.

"HEY! SHION, GET BACK HERE YOU LITTLE BRAT!"

I heard his voice and footsteps booming across the wooden floors. I slammed my bedroom door shut and grabbed my backpack. I unhooked the latch and shook it upside down, emptying its contents as fast as I could. My eyes watered as my head raced. I tried to focus on Rat, as if everything would be fine as long as I was with him. I grabbed all the clothes I could find in my room, dirty and clean and shoved them into the bag. I could barely close it, it was so full of clothes. I had to make sure I grabbed everything I needed, who knows if I'd ever come back to this place? I wrapped my blanket around myself and dug in my bedside drawer, remembering one thing I could never live without. I grinned when I saw what I was looking for, Rat's locket shimmering in my hand. I dashed to the window and barely got both of my legs over the windowsill before my Foster Father burst in.

"Shion… You better come back here right now." He warned.

I shook my head and glared at him intensely. This could be the last time I see him and the only thing I could think of was how much I despised him for everything he's ever done to me. He stole my innocence and abused me, treating me like dirt.

"I hate you!" I shouted and slid down the side of my temporary home. I ran and never looked back, no matter how loud my Foster Father yelled for me. The only energy I needed was the thought of Rat smiling, waiting for me and calling my name.

I ran towards the place Rat and I promised to meet, the locket jingling in my hand.

We needed to leave, fast.
