Arizona moved away from Callie as she lowered her arms. They both slipped on cover ups Callie, thankfully, thought to bring out as Callie moved towards her approaching father.

"Calliope, mija. It's so good to see you again so soon." He enveloped his daughter in a tight embrace and kissed her cheek.

"You too Daddy." They stepped back from each other and he glanced towards Arizona who wore a dimpled smile but was shifting in place a little bit.

"To what do we owe the pleasure?" Callie had been so happy to see her dad she momentarily forgot the situation until Arizona came and stood next to her and gave her an encouraging smile.

"Oh- Daddy, this is my friend Arizona. We go to school together. Arizona- this is my father Carlos Torres." Arizona stuck out her hand.

"It's so nice to meet you sir. You have a beautiful- um pool house." Callie looked at her questioningly. Arizona had been so wrapped up in how Callie would do around her family she hadn't thought about how intimidating it would be to meet her girlfriend's parents, even if they didn't know about her.

"Thank you, if you like that you should see inside the actual house." Arizona's cheeks went pink and she laughed more than the light joke called for. Callie's dad teasing her ironically made her feel less embarrassed. They sat down and started talking and Carlos and Arizona got to know each other. Callie would chime in here and there, but mostly let them get acquainted. Without realizing Callie and Arizona would subtly touch each other on the thigh or lower back or arm, Callie would brush a fallen piece of hair behind Arizona's ear, or they would communicate without actually saying anything. That part was almost eerie. They hadn't realized they'd formed these habits, but Carlos Torres picked up on them and the more he watched for them, the more he saw. He excused himself to talk to the chef about preparing a lunch for them and the rest of the family.

When he was gone Callie and Arizona decided to go in the pool and try to maintain a platonic distance. This lasted a few minutes as Arizona talked about how nice Callie's dad had been and how they had gotten along really well. Callie was very grateful for this because she figured if he already liked Arizona before he found out about their relationship it would help. When Callie was tired of talking about her dad she moved closer to Arizona and put her hands on the blonde's hips.

"Calliope I thought we were keeping things friendly?" Callie moved closer still and bent her knees.

"Oh, we totally are."

"Really? Because-"

Arizona squealed as with one quick motion Callie had tossed her in the air and she was falling back into the water. This started a splash war which turned into them trying to dunk each other. Arizona was on top of Callie piggyback style trying to push her shoulders down when they both froze at a voice next to the pool saying Callie's name. They looked over at the same time. Lucia Torres may be petite in stature, but something about her just makes her insanely intimidating.

"Callie, when you and your friend are done here lunch is served on the patio." Arizona removed herself from Callie and swam over to the steps.

"Okay. Thanks Mama. We'll be right there."

Lucia turned and walked to the patio at the back of the house while Arizona and Callie toweled off before putting the cover-ups back on. They started toward the table when Arizona looked up Lucia was already staring at her. The look was cautious, as if she were studying an animal in the wild to see if it would attack. Callie and Arizona made their way over to the table and sat down in the two empty seats left which were across from each other. Carlos came outside and sat at the head of the table with Lucia and Aria at his sides. Arizona sat next to who she presumed to be Aria figuring it would be best to be farther away from Callie's mom even if it left her open to any looks or staring that was sure to happen. Arizona really wanted this to go well at least for Callie's sake so she decided to really try. She looked at Lucia, who was already looking at her again, and took a breath and put on the biggest smile she could muster.

"Mrs. Torres you have such a beautiful home. Thank you for having me for lunch." Lucia finally looked away and started putting food on her plate.

"It's no problem dear; you were already here, weren't you?" It was perfectly clear that it was a statement, not a question, and the term of endearment sounded more condescending than anything. Lucia started eating while Aria tried to move things along.

"Hi Arizona, I'm Callie's sister Aria. It's a pleasure to meet you." She threw a pointed look at her mother.

"It's super great to meet you too. Calliope's told me so many great things about all of you, I'm just glad I finally got to meet you all."

"Aw Callie, you talk abou-" Lucia dropped her fork as she cut Aria off and at Arizona.

"Calliope? You call her Calliope?" Not even Lucia called her by her full name. When she was made fun of for it in her younger years Callie threw a fit any time anyone except her father called her that. Lucia couldn't remember ever hearing anyone out of their family use her full name and it was the first time since she was very young that someone called her that and she didn't react negatively.

"Yes. It's such a beautiful name. I assume it's after the muse of epic poetry?" Lucia eyed Arizona suspiciously, but at least Carlos looked impressed.

"That's correct. Lucia and I actually met in college in a Greek Mythology class. We got partnered up for a project on the muses and were assigned Calliope. We got to know each other as we worked and when it was done I asked Calliope's mother on a date which she agreed to go on. We dated and got married years later. When our first child came we named her after the Calliope who originally brought us together." He leaned over and kissed his wife chastely. The story had softened her and put her in a better mood immediately. "The meaning of 'beautiful-voiced' just happened to work out by chance." Arizona looked over at Callie.

"I didn't know you sing." At this Aria stated full out laughing.

"Are you kidding? Callie used to 'perform' at every, single, family party. And in the shower. And while she got ready for school. And when she did homework. And- you know what? I think you get the point."

"I think I do, but thank you for telling me. Calliope, I can't believe I didn't know this about you. You have to sing for me sometime soon."

"I will. Promise." She moved her finger in an x shape across her heart and discreetly winked at Arizona. Carlos spoke up again.

"So Arizona, is your name from anything in particular?" Aria spoke next.

"Like the state?" Callie scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"No way would she be named after a state. She's in a Marine family. You must be named after the battleship right?" Callie had never actually had the name conversation with Arizona before today. Callie had poked around on the internet and came across something about the U.S.S. Arizona. That plus Arizona's Marine family background she figured it was a possible reason. Funnily enough Arizona had done the same thing and that's how she knew anything about the muse Calliope.

"Yup. My grandfather was serving on the U.S.S. Arizona when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. He saved nineteen men before he drowned. Pretty much everything my father did his whole life was about honoring that sacrifice. I was raised to be a good man in a storm. Raised me to love my country. To love my family. To protect the things I love."

"That's quite a history to live up to. I'm glad our Calliope has found company in someone so honorable and kind."

"Thank you, sir. I'm glad too."

For the rest of lunch they all spoke amicably and told stories. Arizona especially like one Carlos told about Callie knocking a girl out in a high school lacrosse game. Lucia even told a couple herself and asked Arizona an occasional question about her or her family. Once they got over the little awkwardness at the start they all really enjoyed their afternoon. Callie and Arizona went into the pool house to get there stuff before they went back to school.

"Thank you for today Arizona. You were amazing with my family."

"You're welcome. Besides there was a lot less pressure meeting your parents as your friend than your girlfriend. Also, I got to hear all those stories about you and learn more about you so in my eyes it was a total win. I especially liked learning that you were a total jock in high school. Did your uniform have a skirt?" That was how Arizona had been picturing it since she heard that story.

"Sorry to burst your bubble, but we had shorts. I think I still have some old gear in my room actually. The school keeps the actual game uniforms to use again but we got to keep our practice pinnies and shorts. Did you play any sports in high school?"

"Nope. We moved around so much that Tim and I never really joined anything. Don't think you can just slip in there that you still have your old uniform and then try to change the topic. Before we leave we're going to have to make a stop in your room so I can see it." Callie found Arizona's focus on her old uniform quite amusing. When she was playing she felt anything but sexy and Cameron had never showed an interest in her in it. In general Arizona constantly seemed a lot more interested in everything about her than anyone ever before.

"It's really not that exciting. It's probably all stained and worn out. I played on defense and would get a little more physical than necessary at times."

"I like picturing you getting all dirty and competitive, knocking girls around on a lacrosse field. I'll give you a kiss if we go get it…" Arizona moved right in front of Callie and leaned in until their noses were touching. "If you wear it back at school for me, later on of course, it would make me very happy." Callie tried to lean in to kiss Arizona, but the blonde pulled back. "Uh-uh." Callie let out a whiny growl and pulled Arizona back in by her hips.

"Since you like compromising on clothes so much, how about I'll give you my practice uniform and my sweatshirt in exchange for a kiss now and a make out session in my room tonight." Arizona squinted up at the ceiling pretending to consider the offer.

"Hmm. That depends. Does the sweatshirt have your last name on the back?" Arizona always thought it looked really cute when girls in high school would wear their boyfriend's sweatshirts or would wear their jerseys during school on game day. She never thought she'd get that opportunity, but like so many other things, Callie was giving her what she always wanted.

"Not only does the sweatshirt have my last name, but also the pinny. And they both have my number on them." Arizona leaned in and kissed Callie's smiling lips.

"Perfect." Callie leaned in and kissed her again before Arizona took her hand. "C'mon. We're grabbing some stuff from your room and then we're going back to school." Callie and Arizona let go of each other's hands as they went outside and into the main house and up to Callie's room. It was on the second floor and was really nice, but a little dark for Arizona's liking. Callie sat on her bed as Arizona went into her walk in closet. "Geez Cal, this closet is huge! Where did you say- oh I found them!" Arizona came out with a huge grin on her face. "Your number is 27?"

"Yup. I don't know why, I just liked that number." Arizona looked down at the sweatshirt in her hand and ran her other across the number.

"Today is the 27th. Your number is the same as the date we became girlfriends." Arizona put the clothes down and sat next to Callie on the bed. They laced their fingers together and looked at each other. "It scares me sometimes…how it seems like we're so destined to be together. All these things just seem to work out for us." Arizona didn't think she would ever get married or have serious long lasting relationships when she was older and definitely not when she was this young, yet here she was almost telling Callie she thinks they're soul mates. Not to mention that it was only the morning after their first date.

"It's kinda weird, but it's kinda great." Arizona's eyes glistened as she took the moment to completely take Callie in. She couldn't believe that she found this stunning woman who was her perfect counterpart. They had almost polar opposite personalities, yet they worked. They were like yin and yang. They got up, grabbed their stuff, said their goodbyes, and left. They grabbed a quick dinner on their way back to school and talked about how nice the day had been and more about each other's families. When they got back to school they parted ways to shower and put away their stuff in their own rooms; Arizona taking Callie's old pinny, shorts, and sweatshirt with her. Since they lived in the same building they weren't apart long and soon enough Arizona was knocking on Callie's door. Callie called for her to come in and when she did she saw Arizona with her damp curls loose with Callie's pinny and a pair of plaid pajama shorts on. She wanted to remember Arizona like that for the rest of her life. Arizona had looked beyond gorgeous on their date last night, but this was even better. Callie was already in bed under the covers but when Arizona went closer she lifted them up for Arizona to get in, simultaneously showing off the tight tank top and short shorts she had on. Arizona lowered her shorts slowly until they reached the floor then got into the bed. Callie was wrong. Arizona with curly hair in her pinny and underwear was the how she wanted to remember Arizona forever. They had their make out session as per their deal and went to sleep snuggled into each other.
