The time between their Christmas/One month celebration and New Year's Eve flew by and in no time they would be together again. The Torres family was set up in their penthouse suite and were enjoying the company of their friends and family. Callie was looking out the wall of windows that faced where the ball would drop when she felt a pair of arms snake around her waist.
"Deana quit it. My girlfriend will be here any minute." Arizona turned Callie around in her arms and tilted her head to the side as she raised her eyebrows. "Oh, it's you! Whoops!" If Arizona didn't know Callie was completely kidding she probably would've killed her right about now.
"Very funny Calliope. You better hope there's no one named Deana around here because if there is she might get beat up at the expense of your little joke." Callie leaned in to give her a peck for a real greeting but Arizona backed away. "Oh no, that joke cost you. No kisses, and there's no way I'm going to be unpacking my sexy lingerie tonight." Callie pouted for a second before a sly look came onto her face and she leaned in just slightly.
"That's okay; it comes off in a couple seconds anyway."
"I meant no sex, but good try." Callie didn't falter for even a second.
"If you don't want sex, that's fine. It's not going to stop me though."
"We're sharing a bed Calliope you're not going to masturbate with me lying right next to you." Callie raised one eyebrow and gave her a look that said 'You wanna bet' and Arizona could feel herself caving at the image. "Ugh! You don't play fair." The smug look on Callie's face did not help her feel any better. Callie leaned in and gave Arizona a light kiss which she barely responded to, but didn't pull away from. Callie took it as a win.
"You know you're my girl. My one and only for as long as I live, now where are your parents? I want to see them." Arizona wanted to talk some more about what Callie had said but she took the hint from Callie immediately changing the subject that she just started to lead the way.
"I haven't seen your parents yet, but I should say hi to them. I'd like to thank your dad for sending you up for Christmas too, that was really generous of him."
"Uh, yeah. I mean they're probably busy mingling right now, but later okay?"
"Okay."
They went over to Arizona's parents and talked for a while before Callie's parents walked over to them.
"Calliope there you are, and Arizona, it's nice to see you again. These must be your parents?"
"Yes, Daddy, this is Barbara Robbins and Colonel Daniel Robbins. Of course you know Arizona already, my girlfriend." She figured since she was already doing introductions she would officially introduce Arizona to her parents as her girlfriend even though they already knew. Then she turned to Arizona's parents. "This is my father, Carlos Torres and my mother Lucia Torres."
They made quick introductions and Callie stood with her arm around Arizona waist. As their parents got to know each other a little Callie and Arizona played with each other's hair or hands and whispered back and forth often laughing or giggling. Lucia who had been almost completely silent the whole time suddenly spoke up after watching the girls interact. The three other adults were in the middle of talks so they were a little thrown by the interaction and honesty a little nervous as to what she was going to say since she was looking straight at Arizona.
"Arizona, it's a pleasure to meet you as Callie's girlfriend. I'm so glad you could join us with your family." Everyone except Arizona stayed still waiting for the other shoe to drop or Lucia to walk away, something, but nothing happened.
"Thank you. We really appreciated the invitation and it's lovely to see you both again."
"Good. I'm hoping we'll see you girls around the house once in a while when school starts back up. You should both feel free to stop by or spend the night any time." Whatever happened in the past week Callie didn't want to know. She guessed her father and some time brought her mom around so she was just going to appreciate it.
"We will Mama. Thank you." The rest of the night went smoothly and they all enjoyed each other's company. When it was close to midnight Callie and Arizona secured a semiprivate spot by the windows so they had the perfect view of the ball. "I'm so glad you and your parents came. We've gotten to see each other for two holidays in a row and I feel like they're the first of many we'll be together."
"Me too. And hey, your mom? How great was that? She's like all for us now."
"I know! Our parents get along too."
"Mhmm. You know who gets along even better?" Callie got where Arizona was going with this right away and leaned closer.
"I think I have an idea." Arizona moved closer still.
"You and me. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me and I want to be with you for a long, long time." They shared a quick kiss then locked eyes as the countdown lowered. 10..9..8..7..6..
"I want that too." 4..3..2..1. "Happy New Year Arizona."
"Happy New Year Calliope." They leaned in together and kissed as everyone around them was cheering and wishing each other a happy new year. There were noise makers going off and yelling from the streets below as confetti rained down everywhere. Callie wrapped her arms around Arizona and surprised her with a dip causing Arizona's arms to grasp her neck to stop her from falling. Callie brought her back up on both feet as they both started laughing. It was easily the best New Year either of them had ever had. After a respectable amount of time they went down a few floors down to their room and really brought in the New Year.
The few days they spent together after that were some of the best they've had. The day after New Year's they woke up and ordered breakfast from room service and got ready for their day together. In the early afternoon they were going to a basketball game at Madison Square Garden and then they went bowling after dinner that night. The day after that they laid in bed most of the day and had a Disney movie marathon upon Arizona's request followed by some TED Talks upon Callie's. That night they went to a Feist concert that Callie had bought tickets for Arizona for Christmas/their one month. The day after they went to Central Park and the Museum of Modern Art most of the day and that night saw Wicked which was coincidently what Arizona had bought Callie for the same occasion. They were exhausted from their eventful days and late nights together, but wouldn't change them for a thing. One of their nights there when they were out it even started raining so they got their kiss in the rain and when Callie started singing in Arizona's ear they slow dancing in it until they were completely drenched. After a couple days together they didn't want to say goodbye, but were able to since they would see each other in a couple more days.
