Chapter 3: Meet the Author
Len stared at Miku for about thirty minutes. He observed every part of her face as if he needed to memorize the paleness of her skin, the firmness of her lips, the length of her eyelashes, the shape of her nose and the sculpture of her jaw. The moonlight seeping through the windows reflected Len's cerulean orbs sparking like a starry sky. His face was too close to Miku's that he could even feel his warm breath even though it was a terribly cold night. He leaned closer until his nose touched hers. His heart pounded inside his chest like a wild animal being chased. He gulped, knowing that his actions are unjust but just by looking at her face once more, he stopped making any hesitations. He leaned closer, his lips about a millimeter away from hers. Len closed his eyes and leaned a bit closer.
A rock-hard object punched him on the stomach. Len flew a feet high above the bed and landed at about five meters away from the bed. He opened his eyes, clutching his punched stomach, and found a very furious Miku sitting on the bed, her eyes turned to slits, her hair rising in anger and her tongue looking very much like a snake's. Len's face turned to purple. He gulped since he could see that his master is really angry at him. He was sweating as he tried to gather all his courage to explain it to his Mistress Miku.
"WHY YOU! PERV!," Miku shouted angrily, pointing her finger at Len. Purple flames of hatred surrounded her and it frightened Len a lot.
"Let me explain, Miku-sama!," Len begged nervously as he knelt in front of Miku. Miku's rage did not lessen but instead it burned brighter. The hair on Len's arms prickled and goosebumps appeared all around his arms and legs.
(To all readers: Please imagine this part. Further description will ruin the beautiful image of Miku.)
"I DON'T NEED AN EXPLANATION!"
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! Forgive me, Miku!"
"YOU! WHY WOULD I FORGIVE YOU?!"
"I... You look exactly like the maid in my grandpa's painting that's why-"
"THAT'S WHY, WHAT?!"
"I really like that painting that's why I almost did that."
(Thank you for imagining. Anyway, Miku looks like a demon when she's angry in this fic so I didn't put any details.)
"Huh? What painting?" Miku asked, her hair falling back to the bed like
soft silk threads, her eyes turning back to normal and her aura became a bit calmer.
"My grandfather made a painting of my grandmother when she was younger and I promised myself that if I'm going to find a girl like the one in the painting, I would never let her go.," Len explained, feeling relieved deep inside.
"Was your grandpa's name Len? Was the name of the girl in the painting Miku also?" she asked, getting more interested yet frightened of what was happening.
"Yes, you're absolutely right Miku-sama. I really am named after my grandfather.," Len answered honestly, still clueless about what Miku was thinking. Miku's eyes sparkled.
"It all fits! Do you know anyone who knows about your grandparents' love story?!" she asked enthusiastically, her surroundings sparkling.
"Well... Asides from me, uhm... The only person who knows about it is my sister. Actually, my sister loves that story."
"Really? Can I go meet her tomorrow? Could I also see the painting?" Miku squealed, rushing towards Len with a shimmering aura. Len gulped, unsure of what to say.
"U-uh... Sure."
(The next day)
A Len with dark eye bags slowly fluttered his eyes open after hearing a Miku with a megaphone calling out loudly next to his ear. He sat up and rubbed his eyes, finding a grinning Miku in plain, casual clothes. He looked up with sleepy eyes.
"Good morning, Miku-sama...," he greeted in a monotonous voice.
"What's with the dull mood this morning? Hurry up! I want to go see her now!"
"Huh? But... I'm still sleepy.," Len said as he lied down and hugged his soft pillow tightly. Miku raised one of her brows.
"If you won't stand up in three counts, I'll fire you!" Miku warned as she went off the bed with her arms crossed across her chest.
Upon hearing this, Len opened his eyes wide.
"One..." Len grunted and tried to rise up even though his eyes were about to close again.
"Two..." Len took off the blanket away from him.
"Three!," Miku said as Len finally stood up, his hair all messed up, his eye bags dull and heavy and his mouth had a trace of his saliva.
"Very well... Then you must fix yourself in five minutes, if not-" Miku was disrupted by the sudden walk out of Len to the bath room. She stood there dumbfounded by how fast Len went to the bathroom. Miku blinked and found Len standing in front of her, already dressed up and neat.
"Now, shall we go, Miku-sama?"
Miku and Len went to the Kagamine twins' apartment using Miku's black limousine. Along the way, Miku discovered that the twins no longer have parents and are living independently on their own. She also discovered that Len was the younger sibling and he's working for his sister to finish school.
"I never thought that you are a kind person, butler-san." Miku said, smiling sarcastically. Len looked at Miku dully after hearing her call him 'butler-san'.
"I'm not that kind... It's my sister that's demanding. She forced me, her younger brother, to work for her sake. She's such a demon." Len said in a dull tone, his face gloomy. Miku looked at him cluelessly. The limo stopped in front of a condominium.
"Here we are, Miku-sama." Len gloomily said as he went out of the car and reached out for Miku's hand. Miku accepted it and examined the condominium with one of her eyebrows raised. She went out without saying a word. Len guided Miku to the second floor, to the last room on the right. Len sighed before twisting the door knob to open it.
"Rin, I'm home!," Len called out in a monotonous voice and sighed. It was a complete mess. Chips everywhere, books laid open on the floor, crumpled paper scattered all around and soda bottles and cans spilled on the floor. A blonde haired girl with sparkling cerulean orbs like Len was sitting on the bed found near the window. She had her laptop placed on her lap as she busily typed something. She looked up, her face displaying innocence and sweetness.
"Oh... Lenny, you're here and you brought a pretty girlfriend. Did you bring any oranges?" the blonde sister said, her aura looking so angelic and innocent. Miku twitched.
"Is this the demon sister you talked about?"
"Yes, she is. Don't be fooled."
