Chapter 4: A Trip To The Past
"Lenny, is it true you're calling me a demon?," the blonde girl asked as she stopped typing. She placed her laptop on the bed and held her fist high enough for Len to see. She looked at Len with a deadly glare, her ends of her hair suddenly rising up, and two small horns started to appear on top of her head. (well according to what Miku and Len saw). Miku gulped as she noticed that she's already sweating because of fright. Len's eyes looked dully at her as if he's used to it.
"N-nice to meet you! I am Miku Hatsune, Len's master!," Miku said as she bowed down in front of Len's blonde sister. She swallowed hard, realizing how embarrassing that was. The blonde girl turned to normal, her frightening aura suddenly switched to a sparkling and flowery one. Len's sister smiled sweetly at Miku, radiating a very bright light. Miku looked up, amazed as if she had seen an angel.
"Oh dear, you shouldn't bow down before me. You are, after all, the master of my pathetic little brother. By the way, I am Kagamine Rin. Nice to meet you, Hatsune-sama.," she spoke sweetly as she bowed down before Miku. Miku stood up properly and took a step backward. What a weird sister, she thought. Rin raised her head and placed one hand on her hips as she looked at Len with an eyebrow raised.
"So what do you want, pathetic butler little brother?," Rin asked, her glare still deadly. Len was taken aback by her words which directly hit him hard. Miku wanted to laugh, seeing her prince-like butler looking so...pathetic.
"Actually... I-I was the one who wanted to meet you, Rin-san. You... You're the one who wrote Reaching You, right?" Miku exclaimed like a fangirl.
"Yes, I am the one."
"Really?! I really wanted to meet at least one fanfiction writer! I'm so glad I finally get to meet one!" Miku said happily as she suddenly hugged Rin.
"Y-you read my fanfic? Really?" Rin asked, looking so surprised and happy. Miku nodded.
"Yup! I really love it!" Miku answered cheerfully. Rin and Miku screamed loudly and happily like idiots, talking about things like the romantic scenes of the fanfic that Rin made. Len watched them, looking so out-of-place. Len slowly stepped backwards but Rin caught his wrist.
"So, Rin-san, is there really no continuation of Reaching You? Like some sort of wedding or something?," Miku asked after calming herself.
"The continuation is already happening... At this very moment." Rin answered, winking at Len. Miku and Len looked at her cluelessly.
"So... You wanna see the painting?" Rin asked as she stood up and combed her hair.
"It's really real? Where is it?," Miku asked excitedly, observing the room, looking for the painting.
"It's in our old house. In the old mansion found in the Vocaloid Hills subdivision.," Rin answered, looking at Miku with a smile.
"WHAT?!" Miku loudly shouted after hearing Rin's words.
Miku, Len and Rin went to the Kagamines' old mansion using the Porsche car of the Hatsunes. The car stopped in front of an old and abandoned mansion which is located two or three blocks away from the Hatsunes' main residence. The three of them went out of the car, staring at the mansion. The walls were dirty and cracked, the grasses surrounding the mansion reached their knees, the pillars were covered with vines, there were cobwebs found on every corner, and the front garden was filled with dried leaves from wilted trees surrounding the mansion. A tear fell from Len's left eye which Miku quickly noticed.
"Le-Butler-san, are you... Crying?" Miku asked in a soft voice. Rin bit her lip.
"This place used to be so grand when our parents were still alive. Everyday there were parties. We had so much fun and we were loved by everyone. That's what we thought... But then, one day, our parents died in a car accident. Everyone abandoned us now that we have nothing but our parents' fortune that was taken by debt and tax collectors. That's why now... We...,"Rin began to sob. Len closed his eyes and let the tears flow down his cheeks as memories of the past flashed inside his mind. Miku stood between them and patted their backs. She bit her lower lip as she felt the twins' sorrow and pain. Warm tears suddenly escaped her eyes. Len and Rin looked at her with a surprised expression on their faces. Miku wiped her tears and forced a smile.
"Let's go in, shall we?" she said as she held Len's right hand with her left and Rin's left hand with her right. Len looked at Miku's hand holding his and blushed. Rin noticed him and laughed. Miku just looked at Rin cluelessly. The three went inside and headed to the attic of the house. They went up a trapdoor on the ceiling of the fourth floor and reached the attic. A large, life-sized rectangular figure was covered in white cloth.
"This is it.," Len sighed as he walked over to the rectangular figure.
"Miku, meet Miku, my grandmother when she was alive and young.," Rin stated as she gave a go-signal to Len. Len took the white cloth off, revealing the astonishing beauty of the maid in the painting. Miku gasped as she went near the painting. She examined all the details of the girl's face and realized that she exactly looked like her. Probably, the only difference she found between herself and the Miku in the painting was her smile. The girl in the painting has such beautiful smile that showed the kindness and love probably found inside her heart and Miku knew that she could never have such smile. Ever since her parents got divorced...
"Miku-sama, are you alright?" Len asked softly, his voice sounding so worried. Miku nodded and snickered.
"Of course, I'm fine. After all, I am Hatsune Miku, heiress of the Hatsune Group of Companies. Butler-san, I'm tired. I want to go home." she said as she turned around on the last part, flipping her long, teal hair. Len nodded and followed Miku as she walked away.
"If you're having problems talking to Len about your problems, then please talk to me. But please, if you could, Hatsune-san, open up to my pathetic brother like he did to you. He's pathetic but he's a trustworthy guy. He'll protect you no matter what.," Rin said before they could leave her. Miku smiled a real smile that no one noticed, even her herself.
"I could feel that." she whispered to no one as she continued on walking.
