Even though it's completed, Need for Speed Most Wanted is STILL getting reviews and favs! I love you guys!

As for this one... 9 Reviews, 28 Followers, 19 Favorites, and 2,426 Views.

I might just upload a chapter of my upcoming Hellsing fic, Operation Combination Safeguard, even though it's not finished (another chapter or two to go (still looking for help with the final fight scenes!)), just to see what kind of response it'll get.

On a side note, the bit about the second part, if you didn't notice in the first Fast, when Brain and co raided the Tran house, there was a child. I was unsure if it was a boy or girl, since they were only shown for a second or two, but I just tossed them in here as his sister's kid as well as giving her a name since Dom told Brian that he had been with Johnny's sister but her name is never mentioned in the movie.

Chapter 7

It had been three days since the decision had been made to hide out with Johnny and his cousin and I was really enjoying myself. My family seemed to have grown to include Johnny and his cousin. In fact, Lance was beginning to be like a brother to me. The goofy, fun brother who'd do anything to get a laugh. And we seemed to have found a gaming buddy in each other as Johnny wasn't much into playing video games while Lance had a Mario Kart addiction. And just like the Toretto household, there were days when we'd actually just goof off and have fun. Most nights, if there wasn't a race, Johnny would take me out somewhere, whether it was to a movie, a club, or just a walk on the beach, it didn't matter. We just got to know each other. I told him my full story and I learned why him and Dom had been at odds. A deal had gone wrong between the two and on top of it, Dom had been caught with Johnny's sister.

"No wonder you fit right in with Toretto and his crew." He commented as we walked along the boardwalk. Night had fallen some time ago and everything was peaceful. Besides us, there were a few couples, just enjoying the night and each other. I actually caught one couple making out against the rail.

I smile. "I get along so well with them. I never really felt like I truly belonged in a family until I met them. They're a rag tag bunch but it's a family."

"Do you ever want to find out about your real family some day?" He asked as we reached the end and leaned against the rail.

I lifted my head to the breeze and inhaled the ocean air, closing my eyes. "Not really. I like the family I have now."

"But what if your real family is even better than the one you have now?"

"Money isn't everything Johnny. Sure money makes life easier, but its not true happiness. It doesn't matter if my real family are movie stars or something like that, I won't trade in the family I have now. Until the day I met Dom, I've been running, with no real friends, no real family, and no real home. Before I met Dom, I lived out of my truck, sleeping in the back when I needed sleep."

"You slept in the bed of the truck?" He asked in disbelief.

I nodded. "It was cheaper than renting a hotel room. While on the run, I saved money where I could. Sleeping in the bed of the truck, eating meals that could be eaten on the run, even going so far as to bathe in a stream." I looked over at him. "I was doing what I could to survive on the run. Until I met Dom and his crew, I was practically on high alert, jumping at every shadow and every noise at night, terrified that they would pounce on me when I wasn't paying attention. Meeting up with Dom and his crew was perhaps the best thing that's happened to me. I got a family and friends out of it. Family who won't turn their back on you and friends who'll always be there when I need it."

"You and Vince seemed pretty close." He commented softly after a few minutes. "It's obvious something was going on with you two."

"He was really against this, you know. Me coming to stay with you and Lance. He finally relented when he realized this may be the only chance we have at making them back off completely." I replied.

He chuckled. "Doesn't like you to be too far from him, does he?" I shook my head with a smile.

"He's protective."

"At least he'd not demanding where you are every second of the day. That'd be a bit too much." He grinned wickedly at me. "And if you're steady with him, there's no way you can still be a virgin."

I glance at him. "And what if I still am?"

"I'd call you a liar." He replied, smug.

"You plan on trying to prove I'm a liar?"

"I know. We're talking about your personal relationship and you're not even blushing." He pointed out.

"It's dark." I shrug.

He snorts with laughter. "Nice try."

I look at him fully. "Why the sudden interest in my personal life? I don't go asking about the girls you've been with."

"I hit a nerve, you're getting upset. I'm sorry, I was poking around where I shouldn't have been."

"Why were you so interested in my relationship with Vince?"

He looks out over the water for a few minutes and I watch him. "Maybe I wanted to see if I could take you from him."

"Why?" I ask, confused.

He looks over at me. "From the moment you beat me at Race Wars, I liked you. It wasn't until you came to stay with us that it hit me just how much." He shook his head. "It seems foolish to say it, but it feels like I'm a teenager again with a high school crush on the cheerleader who everyone knows is off limits, because her boyfriend, who's the varsity quarterback, will murder anyone who makes a move on her."

"I won't be used just so you can get back at Dom for screwing with your sister, Johnny." I warned.

He shook his head again. "It's not like that, I swear. Because of you, we actually called a truce. Before, it was 'you stay off my turf, I'll stay off yours and everybody's happy'. Now, it's like that doesn't even exist anymore. We both come and go as we please. As if like magic, you changed the status between our crews. We're not friends exactly, but we're not enemies either. The past is past and there's nothing good in holding a grudge, I know that. I've let it all go."

"What's wrong with all the racer chasers that hang around you guys?"

"That's all they are, racer chasers. They may be pretty, but they know absolutely nothing about a car. You and Dom's girl Letty are two of the few. You both are lookers and you're not afraid to race with the big boys. You racing me at Race Wars proved that. I've never seen you in a fight, but from what I can tell, you wouldn't be afraid to throw down either."

"Actually, I don't know how to fight. My adoptive brother, and now Dom and the guys, defend me when it's needed." I admit. "Though I would like to learn."

"Toretto probably wouldn't like it if we taught you how to fight, but he probably won't mind if we taught you self-defense." He mused, tapping the wood.

"What's the difference?"

"Fighting is where you actually hit the other person and they hit you. Self-defense is where you're trying to keep the other person from hitting you."

"Oh."

"When you call tomorrow, we'll see what he thinks. Come on. It's getting late, let's get back." With a friendly arm around my shoulders, we walked back to the beach where I had a sudden surge of mischievousness. Pushing Johnny, I take off laughing, running down the beach. A confused minute and then I hear a laugh and know he's after me. A few minutes later and he tackles me from behind. We wrestle around in the sand for a few minutes, laughing, until he finally pins me.

"What was that for?"

"I like to have fun." I panted grinning.

"And now we're all covered in sand." To make his point, he brushes some sand from my cheek.

"That is easily remedied." I reply.

"Oh really. How?"

"Let me up and I'll show you." I reply with a devilish grin. If Vince knew I was flirting he would kill me, but I was having fun. Johnny moves back and giving him another shove to send him back to the sand, I jump up, shimmy out of my shorts, since I was wearing my bathing suit under it, and race for the water, diving into an oncoming wave. I pop up and grin at Johnny. "Come on Johnny!" Laughter and he's joining me in the water where we laugh and play some more. I don't know exactly how it happened, but one minute we were just messing around, and the next, he was kissing me. It wasn't like the way Vince kissed me, but it felt good all the same.

As the days pass, he noticed a change in Kira. Little by little, she seemed to be getting more affectionate with him. He had a feeling he knew why. At first, he had wanted to seduce Kira away from Toretto's boy, just to get back at Toretto for messing with his sister, but now… that had changed. He wanted her for himself. She was a racer with an adrenaline addiction and even though she tended to act childish at times, she knew when it was time for business and time for fun. It was a combination he liked.

He was currently watching her teach his niece how to catch fireflies in their backyard. The child was thoroughly enjoying the attention from Kira. Even though Kira would prefer to play around with him and Lance, she did take time to pay attention to the little girl. His sister, Michelle, had taken it upon herself to change Kira's look so she didn't look like she used to. Her outfits blended with the society she now mingled with, making her appear more Hispanic than she used to. To add to her new look, Michelle had dyed Kira's hair. Instead of brown, it was now black and it had been cut in a stylized cut which Kira seemed to like. Where she had blue eyes, she used contacts to turn them green.

He had to give his sister credit, she had done a good job with remaking Kira's look. She now looked better than she had before, making him want her even more. Now if the goons came back looking for her, Kira could walk right by them and they'd never know it. Because of her Hispanic features and her new look, she could blend perfectly with Hector and his crew.

Kira makes a grab at a firefly and opens her hand only to frown. She'd missed. After a few more failed attempts, he decided to tease her.

"I thought you'd said you were good at this." He called. She puts a hand behind her back where the child couldn't see and flipped him off. He laughed. "We'll see about that when you get back here."

He hears footsteps and knows Michelle had joined him. "You've got it bad brother." She commented with a smile in Chinese, not wanting to alarm Kira to the conversation.

"And what makes you think that, little sister?" He asked in the same language, knowing it was hopeless to talk about Kira in Chinese. She knew about his attraction to her. It wouldn't take her long to figure out they were talking about her and his attraction to her when they spoke in Chinese and mentioned her name.

"You've got it bad for our pretty guest." She grinned back, smiling as she watched her daughter with Kira.

"You deserve credit for changing her like you did. She could walk by them and they wouldn't know it."

Michelle preens in pride. "I did do a good job, didn't I? But then, it was fairly easy to bring attention to her Hispanic features when she wasn't before. I see in the way you watch her. You want her like you haven't wanted another woman before."

"As much as I want her, she's off-limits. She's the girl of one of Toretto's boys."

"Which one?"

"Driver of the blue Nissan Maxima. And from what I can tell, he's had her already."

Michelle gives a snort of laughter. "And that's stopping you? If having her makes you happy, go for it."

He looked over at her. "Even if she belongs to another?"

Michelle nodded. "Seduce her. If you do your job good enough, she'll choose you when the confrontation happens between you and her current lover."

He shook his head. "I'm not going to do it just to get back at Toretto for messing with you."

"I'm not asking you to. You really want her, try your hand at her. I just want you to be happy."

"Remember what I told you when we had taken a walk on the boardwalk?"

Michelle nodded. "About a week ago, right?" He nodded. "What about it?"

"She got playful and made me chase her down the beach."

Michelle nodded. "You caught her, you two wrestled in the sand and then ended up in the water."

"I kissed her then."

Michelle looked at him then. He'd never told her about it, it had been his secret. "Oh? How was it?"

He shook his head, confused. "It was different. I've kissed women before, but this time was different. I'm still trying to figure out why."

She put a hand on his shoulder. "Pursue her, figure out what confuses you." They hear a squeal of laughter and look into the backyard to see Kira flip Sarah to her back and start tickling her. "She'll make a good mother. You see how she acts and plays with your niece. She's got a natural maternal instinct." She nudged him. "You know father's been hinting at it since he first saw Kira interact with Sarah."

"I only agreed to let her stay with us as I wanted my Honda back. We help her through this and she'll give it back."

Michelle looked at him. "Just like that?"

"She's got a little Mitsubishi Eclipse that has some serious power under the hood. It's how she beat me at Race Wars a month ago. I wanted her ride and we raced for slips. I just never imagined she'd be able to beat me. Knowing I'd want it back, she offered it up as incentive. We help keep her alive and I get it back, free and clear."

She chuckles softly. "So brother finally got beat. And by a girl at that." She smiled happily. "I knew I liked her."

"Father liked her too, the moment I told him she had beaten me." He replied.

"Of course he would. It brought you down a few notches. You had been acting a bit cocky lately and it was annoying him."

"Why didn't he tell me?"

"Truth be told, he was waiting on Karma and I guess Kira beating you at Race Wars was it." She replied, smug. Just then, Sarah came racing up to them brandishing a jar proudly. Several fireflies fluttered around in it.

"Mommy! Mommy! Look at what I caught!"

Kira was right behind the child, smiling. "I told her if it was alright with her mother, she could keep them in her room tonight but she'd have to let them go in the morning." She told them.

"Can I mommy? Can I?"

"Before you go to summer camp, you have to let them go, alright?" Michelle told her daughter. Sarah eagerly nodded and her mother giggled. "Alright, let's get you to bed then. It's past your bedtime." With Sarah clutching her prize to her chest, she followed her mother inside, leaving him alone with Kira.

"She enjoyed that, you could tell." He told her as she lifted herself up onto the rail. She had taken her contacts out and her blue eyes seemed to glow under the light of the moon. She had tied her hair back at the nape of her neck to keep it out of her face as she had taught Sarah how to catch fireflies.

"Most kids love learning how to catch lightening bugs. They're nature's night light. But you never want to hold one in your hand for long, or even have a handful for that matter."

"Why?" He was both curious and interested.

Kira grinned and held up the hand she had used to catch the nocturnal insects with. "Your hand starts to stink." She looked at her hand and made a face, scrunching up her nose. "I think it's like a defense mechanism or something."

"If your hand stinks, why keep doing it?"

She shook her head with a smile. "Luke got me started doing it when I was a kid and I guess I never really grew out of it. It's fun to do in the summer."

"Most females I know wouldn't be caught dead playing with bugs." He commented.

"If you haven't noticed, Johnny, I'm not like most girls. I can race with the big boys."

He nodded. "I'm aware of that, since you still hold the pink slip for my Honda."

She grinned proudly. "Racing you was one hell of a rush. After you get it back, do you think you'd want to race me again?"

"As long as it's not for slips." He countered.

"No slips need be involved. Just for fun. Just because we can." She replied, lifting her head to the night sky. Wanting to see her hair down, he raised a hand and removed her hair tie. Free from its confines, her dark hair tumbled down her back, settling easily into that layered cut. A few strands framed her face and curled under her chin, softening the planes of her face. She looked at him, curious.

"I like seeing your hair down." He told her, running a hand through her hair to remove some of the tangles. He might like the color and style, but he loved the feel of it even better. It was like silk gliding through his fingers. Taking her hair down had been his excuse to let his fingers run though it.

The lightning bug making the hand smell thing? It's true, I've caught enough of them to know. But it's still fun! .
