Chapter 12: The trail that led to Death Mountain

"You again?" the same Goron shouted once he spotted me.

"Yeah, me again." I replied, rolling my eyes at the Drama Queen.

"I told you that no humans may pass under the orders of Patriarch!"

"Well you can tell your Patriarch to change the damn rules!" I growled.

Angered, he rolled himself into a ball. It was a good thing that I had worn the Iron Boots before coming here or otherwise we will be back to the beginning. The angry Goron rolled down the path, furiously but I was ready. Like before, I spread out my heavy legs as well as my arms.

When it was the right time, I grabbed the Goron. Of course, he had to struggle a bit but at the second try, I gave out a grunt and swung him out of the way. The surprised muffled yell from the Goron came and I watched him rolling down the path.

"That oughta teach him." I muttered before painfully walking up the path.

Of course, there were many Gorons rolling down the path each hoping that they could knock me down but of course, with the help of the Iron Boots, nothing can bring me down…

Except for the large falling rocks that nearly squashed me to my doom…

Wondering why there was a shadow that followed me, I looked up but I wished I didn't since my eyes went wide. Above me, was a gigantic flaming falling boulder that was falling down. Fast.

"Move you idiot!" Midna hissed, annoyed at my lack of intelligence…

Gasping, I dived for the ground by doing a somersault just in time since the large boulder smashed heavily at the ground, creating the same size as its base was.

"Whoa…This looks dangerous…" Midna replied, coming out of my shadow.

"You don't say!" I hissed. "I was almost killed!"

She shrugged, carelessly. "Not my fault I lack of brains." she added a thoughtful look. "Is this the traditional Death Mountain welcome? Eee hee!"

Twitching, I stomped away while "defeating" a Goron by knocking him with my shield which forced him to go into a rounded ball. I climbed on him (not in the way, you sick minded people!) and he launched me up.

The path that led to the Mines was a royal pain in the butt since it practically forced me to change into my Iron Boots 24/7.

Oh the pain!

I finally reached the entrance that led to the main chamber but something told me to put my Iron Boots on which I did and I heavily dragged myself inside…

Only to meet with six rolling Gorons that started to charge at me who had eyes wide as I realized that I was going to be trampled badly since there was no way I could throw them out without getting major injuries.

But…I still prepared myself, watching them rolling closer to me until a loud commanding voice boomed which caused them to stop as the voice spoke.

"ENOUGH!" the commanding voice boomed.

The six charging Gorons stopped at the command. I eyed the two Gorons that seemed to be the body guards of the entrance—that may be the entrance to the Mines. They then shifted themselves sideways to reveal another Goron but this one was probably their leader or whatever.

"Is this young on such an imposing enemy that you must all gang up on him? I think now, Little Brothers." the Goron replied with a calm voice.

I breathed out a sigh of relief, walking towards him. "Hey, thanks for the…"

The first body guard Goron loomed over me, threateningly as it fixed his eyes on me, challenging me. The eyes bore an expression that said: do not come any closer.

"Step back, human." the Goron spat, crushing my hand that was meant for the Goron leader to shake it.

I cringed, biting out the urge to yell from the pain.

The leader saw this and commanded him to release my hand which now hurts very bad!

"Sorry about him, human. He gets a little…" he paused, trying to find the right word. "Wary when it comes to humans."

I grunted.

"So that being said, what brings you here to this Mountain? I must admit that you have the courage to get here so far. Aren't you the people from below?"

I nodded. "Yes I am one of the people from below. I am here because I need to go to the Mines to cleanse the evil that plagued it…Also, a friend, the shaman, was surprised to see how such a noble and the proud creatures suddenly changed."

The Goron nodded. "Ah yes; Renado, is it? Well, I'm terribly sorry to say that the Mines beyond here are sacred to my tribe. Outsiders are not allowed." he said, sternly.

I stared down at him, creating a challenging look.

That earned him a smile.

"Unless…I could make an exception…but you would have to beat me in a contest of power. Are you willing to try that, little human?"

"First off, I'm not little. My name is Link and I'm a Hylian. Second, I don't back down from a challenge." I smirked.

The Goron did whole-heartedly laugh. "I'm starting to like you, kid. If you are so confident, then let's get started."

Indeed we did.

I just hoped that no one will notice the Iron Boots. They didn't since they are probably way too busy focusing on the battle. The Gorons, of course, are waiting to have their leader to knock me out. But that will never happen; I tried to keep my signature smirk hidden but I just couldn't.

Oh, how blind they all are!

Erm right…back to the wrestling thing…

We both waited for the signal and when it did, I miraculously dodged the Goron's slap in a flash, earning stunned faces from the crowd.

If I hadn't dodged it, I would have a bruised face…

I struggled when he kept on pushing me back. It wasn't a lot but he still managed to move me somehow. But I had on the Iron Boots! The Iron Boots! On the third push, I forced myself to use all of my strengths to get me off me which he did.

I then started to push him back so that he could be off the ring.

This took a lot of me since halfway through the wrestling, I was panting with exhaustion.

Finally, with all my strength, I pushed the Goron out of the ring earning complete stunned faces from the Gorons.

"Fine traits…Want to see how well you can use them?" the Goron asked, having a smile on his face.

I stiffened. You mean it isn't…over…?

I groaned, inwardly.

But, it didn't seem like we were going back to the ring since the leader was going at the stairs that led to the entrance to the Mines. Of course, it took a while for me to get there since I still had the Iron Boots on. I can't take them off here; it's too risky.

"You have seen it, I would bet…The mountain, erupting without pause…" the leader told me once I got there.

"Oh yeah, I've seen it no doubt. The flaming rocks tried to kill me." I stated with a bitter voice.

He chuckled as if he found it amusing. Oh it wouldn't be soo amusing if you went out there…

"When the mountain began to rage, all four of us elders and Darbus, our patriarch, went inside to investigate its anger. We have a treasure that was entrusted to us by the spirits, and we must protect it. Do you understand?"

I nodded.

"But the moment Darbus reached out and touched the treasure…everything went wrong."

"That sounds like the Fused Shadow." Midna hissed.

I covered it up with a cough, earning a erm…raised eyebrow from the leader.

"That sounds terrible." I added.

He nodded, gravely. "He collapsed…and before our very eyes transformed into an unspeakable monster!"

I gasped. "No!"

"He began to rage through the mines, trailing ruin behind him…and the eruptions grew more frequent and more severe." he continued but I could tell that he was deeply worried for Darbus.

I mean who wouldn't be worried that Darbus who was once their patriarch suddenly changed into an unspeakable monster…

"We used all of our strength to seal him deep inside the mountain…It…grieved us to do this to our patriarch…but we had no other course of action. I ask this favor of you, young warrior…Go to the aid of Darbus!"

"Me?" I squeaked before clearing my throat. "Um yes! I will help you in every way I can."

He seemed to be grateful for that. "Thank you, human. I really appreciate it. And make no mistake! The spirits have guided you here. I, Gor Coron, need your help…On behalf of my entire clan, I ask you for your aid!" he then turned to the body guards. "…You two! Let the young warrior pass!"

The two shifted sideways, creating an entrance.

I gulped.

Oh I'm going to get myself killed…

Author's Note: I know it's short but I felt that it would be silly if I continue on. So it ends here…Ohhh I'm SUPER EXCITED FOR THE FINAL BATTLE! IT'S GOING TO BE EPICCC! LIKE YOU HAVE NO IDEA! And you won't be disappointed! Along with Snowpeak! Oh and apparently the tittle that's called the Cursed Twilight it's supposed to be chapter 4 not five…so um…yeah…
