Amy glanced out the window, hoping to see the familiar blue telephone box sitting out in their carefully-manicured yard. She wished the Doctor would show up and take her away... but she'd never see him again, she reminded herself. After she and Rory had been touched by the Weeping Angel, they had to give up all hope of seeing their beloved alien friend again.
The fiery red-headed woman let out a soft sigh, her heart yearning to run away with the time traveling man again; to escape the drama and mundane life of being stuck in one place. She and Rory had just gotten into an argument, increasing her urge to leave... but that life was over, she wouldn't run anymore. She had to face what would come, and face it like the strong person she had grown to be.
Thinking about what had been said during their quarrel, Amy closed her eyes and tried not to let the tears escape her long-lashed lids. She regretted the entire conversation, every word she had let slip during it. What hurt even more than the guilt, was what Rory had said to her.
"Why do I even try anymore, Amy? Why do I try with you?" he spat, his words stinging Amy like venom from a snake; slowly processing in her body until she was tingling with pain from head to toe.
She stormed from the room, salty liquid welling in her eyes as she yelled, "Why? Why do you try?"
Amy bent down to the sink in their bathroom, where she had hid herself, and looked into the mirror to meet her own emerald gaze. Her eyes were red and puffy, her mascara staining her cheeks. The ache in her heart grew into a physical pain in her chest, his words ringing around in her head on repeat like a broken record.
Why does he try? she thought ruefully, another round of tears dripping into the sink when suddenly the door opened.
Before Amy could react, she felt his arms around her. His warmth was comforting, but she'd never tell him that.
"I figured it out, Amy," Rory murmured softly into her ear, "I try because I love you."
Amy cried quietly into his chest, taking a breath before saying: "Even after all I've done? Will you still love me after everything I'll do in the future?"
"Amy, I'll love you forever; I'll love you when you grow old, I'll love you when you get wrinkles around your eyes. I'll love you even when you don't think you're beautiful anymore, because to me, you're always going to be beautiful. You'll always be my Amy," he said gently, squeezing her tightly against him, "and that's why I try. That's why I'll keep trying for you."
"I love you too..."
Amy was at a loss for words, but Rory didn't seem to be expecting an answer. He held her in his arms, resting his head against hers and whispering 'I love yous' into her ears until she stopped crying.
