Author's Note: So after browsing on Zelda section fanfics, I couldn't help but to laugh when I saw mine being place in third for the most update date XD If you want to see this, this is how: By going to the Legend of Zelda section and then playing with the filters so that all languages, ratings, and all that are allowed (to make sure I'm getting all 25,000+ fics in there) and then sorting them by reviews, counting how far down the list I am, and then doing the same for favorites and follows as well as update date. I just find that funny XP and we're finally off to visit the very painful pain in the butt (that is most hated by all fans well…) the Lakebed Temple…

Chapter 17: Expect the unexpected

"Well, it's a good thing you found all of your friends and picked up that nifty Zora armor…" Midna spoke after quite a long time. But my eyes are still puffed and red from crying. "But aren't you forgetting something kind of important? That last Fused Shadow…Remember what Faron the light spirit said…He said you would need the Fused Shadows to defeat the dark overlord Zant and save the world…"

"There's no way in hell I'm using those cursed things!" I hissed.

I didn't know if this had fazed Midna but if it did then good.

"So even if you go back now with all of the people you saved…The whole tragedy would just repeat itself…" she continued, probably unfazed of what just happened. "So let's go get it! We need to go to the temple on the lake bed of Lake Hylia."

A sudden growl came though I gave a sheepish grin as Midna raised an eyebrow…if she had any…

"First things first, I'm going to eat."

"What?!" Midna screeched. "No! Absolutely no way! We have wasted enough time as it is! And we are going to go now!"

"Alright then. What would happen if I die of starvation? And whose fault will that be?" I glared accusingly at Midna who seemed to twitch. "We also know how long those temples are. And—"

"Goddesses damnit! ALRIGHT! GO and eat!" she screamed, earning a smirk from me.

I then jumped into the water to get out of this place.

And yes I'm still mourning over my lost hat. We had good times…

"Link!" Talo exclaimed.

"Hey there, fella. What have you been up to?" I asked, ruffling the young one's hair who grinned.

"Ah, same old. There's nothing really to do here." Talo mumbled.

"Oh?" I thought about it. "You could always play games you know…" I trailed off, giving him a look.

His eyes instantly got widened with excitement. "Yeah! Let's do it!" he started to run but halted. "Um…what are we supposed to do?"

I chuckled before eyeing the humming Ilia who came out of the Inn as she carried laundry.

"Here's what we will do." I grinned, evilly.

"Is she out yet?" Talo whispered.

We were currently on the on the top of the Inn. And between us was a medium size wooden bucket and was filled with something.

I'm not telling you what it is…you will just have to find out and yourselves…hehehe.

"She's out!" Talo whispered, furiously.

I peered over the wooden fence and there she was, getting out of the Inn.

"Perfect. Are you ready?"

Talo nodded. "Aye aye, cap'n!" he grinned.

"Three…two…one…LOOK OUT BELOW!" we yelled which caused Ilia to look up at the sudden loud voice but instead of seeing us, all she saw was a huge waterfall of water that poured down on her.

She gave a gasp when she felt the water splashing on her, making her to be completely drenched.

"Mission accomplished!" I high fived Talo.

Unfortunately, Ilia had to look at us…and she wasn't happy.

"LINK!" she screamed. "I swear to the Goddesses that you had wished you had never been born!" furiously, she stomped back into the Inn and slammed the door shut.

Talo and I both looked at one another before giggling madly.

We then entered back in the Inn for lunch. I kept on eyeing at Beth on Ilia who somehow seemed…off…no lunch wasn't ruined—that much I was grateful since I was hungry and I could literally eat a horse…poor Epona—and the two girls kept on whispering back and forth while occasionally including Luda.

Poor girl looked like she didn't want to be in part of whatever Ilia is planning.

Once everything was cleaned, I announced that I had to go to the bathroom…you know, to refresh my face and all…and definitely shower. I hadn't shower since…

That's another story…

I still eyed the two girls who both were giggling madly when I announced the bathroom which made me to suddenly be scared.

Of course, I closed the door and did the stuff I needed to do but when I wanted to get out, I found out that I couldn't.

"What the…?" I tried again but then I realized that I was locked in the bathroom.

"ILIA!" I boomed. I just found out that the doorknob was reversed, having the lock on the outside.

The two girls cracked up as they exploded with laughter. Oh Goddesses…

"IF YOU DON'T LET ME OUT OF HERE, I'LL—"

"You will what Link?" Ilia called back. "How can you do stuff if you're locked in the bathroom?" they laughed.

I growled, banging my head against the head.

"That was a good prank…" Midna replied, cackling. I glared at her.

"Whose side are you on?" I demanded.

"The girls of course. Eee hee."

"Oh that's just cruel."

Renado shook his head with amusement before he decided that it was time to unlock the door. I couldn't tell you just thankful I was to get out of there.

"Oh Link!" Beth said in a sing-song toned.

"What?" I asked, sharply. She then smiled before showing something I had dearly missed. "Oh sweet merciful Din!" it was my hat. "My hat!"

Of course being the blind idiot, I didn't know what was inside of it.

"Do you think we should tell him that it's a fake one?" Talo whispered.

"What?" I asked, more sharply than before.

"Nothing!" the kids smiled as if nothing had happened.

Shrugging, I started to place my hat on until something gooey fell on my head. I started to be stiff…I darted my eyes to the kids and Ilia who tried to stifle their giggles but failed miserably.

"This better not think what I think it is!" I snarled before lunging at them which caused them to shriek.

"Ahh!" they shrieked, running away from the now stinky me.

I chased them out of the Inn and into the spring where I knew they will be trap. Of course, I just had to trip on the water which caused them to have the upper advantage. Unbeknownst to me, Midna was watching the scene hiding behind the shadows.

(A/N: Midna's POV time!)

She looked at the scene longing as she felt a deep pang in her chest. She didn't know what it was though. Maybe she could talk to Link—no forget it. He would probably say something cruel or whatever. Well she knew Link wasn't the type of person to say something cruel but the imp just can't find the right word.

She sighed. She had longed to have friends like that…all laughing and talking, smiling as if there was nothing to worry about. To be honest, she actually felt jealous of Link.

Of course, she had some friends back in her home but it wasn't the same thing. She sighed again until an idea popped into her head. If she could just show herself and, and…

No! Stop it, Midna. What are you doing? They will probably think of you as a monster. Nothing more and nothing less.

It was cruel but it was the plain truth.

"Damn it! I can't find them!" an angry, growling voice came.

She looked to see Link, slumped with defeat and was sprawled out on the path.

(A/N: back to Link)

"Damn it! I can't find them!" I growled, being angry. They somehow just vanished—not like poof!—and now I can't find them.

Midna looked to see me, slumped with defeat and was sprawled out on the path.

"Aw poor little wolf now helplessly lost." she taunted, cackling.

I sighed until an idea popped into my head which caused me to grin evilly which also caused to have Midna eyeing me suspiciously which also caused—

Huh? Oh right…ahem.

"Say Midna…" I started, casually.

"What?" she asked, suspiciously.

I chuckled. "I was wondering if you could do me a simple favor…" I began as I looked at her.

She raised an eyebrow while studying me. Her eyes went wide as she realized what I was going to do. "No! Absolutely not! I refuse!"

I whined. "Please? Pretty please with a cherry on top?" I batted my eyelashes which probably looked scary as hell.

Midna groaned. "NO!" she said, coldly.

I pouted then got up and sadly walked away until I got another idea. I really wished I didn't have to this but I got no choice.

I turned around and…gave her the puppy eyes! Cue the dramatic gasp.

She stared at me and sighed and stared at me. "No!"

I deepened my puppy eyes. She tried to look away but inside, I was grinning like a maniac as I knew that she would be defeated.

She groaned. "Alright!"

"Yes!" I cheered but then regained my composure. "Uh I mean…yeah that's cool."

"I just hope I won't regret it."

"Oh you won't." I grinned like a maniac before whispering on what to do.

By then, it was her turn to grin like a maniac.

-Sometime later, twilight-

"Do you think we lost him?" Beth whispered.

Ilia shrugged even though Beth couldn't see. "I don't know. Hopefully we did."

They were currently in a dark abandoned house.

Ilia sighed before she spoke. "Come on. We should probably get back to the Inn before Renado is worried."

"Yeah." the second they started to move, they heard something that sounded like footsteps.

They froze, allowing fear to come across them. Well, Beth showed fear; Ilia however just stared at the dark area.

"Ilia…" Beth whimpered.

"Shh, it'll be alright. Follow me." she said. Beth grasped Ilia's hand tightly as the two girls followed their way to get out of the house until…

Ilia and Beth gave out a gasp of fear as they heard something break followed by some more footsteps. Ilia turned her head around since she thought she felt someone was following them but the minute she turned her head around, she gave a scream which also caused Beth to scream.

There, in front of her, stood a scary floating face that had light flashing under its face. The two girls quickly darted out of the house only to have the exit blocked.

"Ilia!" Beth whimpered, raising her shaky finger. "It's coming!"

She turned around and indeed saw the scary floating figure.

"I'm trying to open but something is blocking it! I—"she stopped in mid-sentence as she could've sworn she heard laughing, causing her to growl.

"We're not going anywhere!" she stated, firmly.

"But—"

Ilia cut her off. "I know a certain person who's going to be in so much trouble!"

She started to run but the ghostly figure halted her in her tracks before gesturing to follow her. Curiously, they followed her until they met a rusty old door though Ilia knew that wasn't the exit. She then opened the door only to find a large wooden bucket that was filled with something.

She grinned and turned around. However, it was only her and Beth.

Weird.

"Beth, I just got an idea."

Out of the abandoned house, there was me, who was laughing uncontrollably at the ultimate prank.

"O-oh m-man! Did you see the look on their faces when you showed up? I died laughing!" I laughed, uncontrollably.

"Yeah, real witty." Midna stated, flatly though she couldn't help but to hide a smile that was trying to sneak its way in. Poor little me is totally unaware of what was going to happen in the next few minutes.

"Oh come on. Admit it: you had fun." I pointed accusingly.

She just gave me her infamous blank emotionless face that made me to sigh.

"Alright then…" I mumbled and then started to walk my way back.

"By the way, Link…" Midna started but before she could finish, a smile was placed on her face as she a heard an ear piercing scream.

"THE HELL!" I screamed, an ear piercing one.

My eyes darted towards the two girls who snickered. They just pour something down on me…I didn't even know what it was: I just hope that it was mud.

"You girls are gonna get it!" I yelled, chasing them once again. I chased them out of the roof top and finally into the spring where I had at last caught up to them.

They shrieked as they felt some of the um...whatever it was fell on them. Midna smiled from ear to ear as she realized that the two girls had followed her idea.

She was debating on whether or not if she should tell me but decided against it. I don't need to know just yet…

Sometime later, the shaman called us to go back in as I motioned Midna to follow us but she had to hide in my shadow. The shaman shook his head when he saw us and instructed us to go take a shower (again not that I mind) before going to sleep.

After that, I let out a long sigh as I was sprawled on the bed while I just watched the ceiling.

"Long day, wasn't it?" Midna asked, sitting on the top of nightstand.

I nodded. "Yeah but it was fun, right? Am I right?"

Midna cracked a smile. "Alright I'll admit. It was fun." she admitted.

I smiled. "Goodnight Midna."

Midna got thrown off from that but she couldn't help but to smile. "Goodnight, Link." she whispered.
