Author Note: Hello! I'm excited to share my new fic with you all. Unlike my other fics, this story will follow a darksider four years after the end of the war. They'll be going against Team Avatar and trying to take over the world. This fic will blend political drama, romance, and war story elements. I'm also planning on incorporating references to my other fics, including Outcast, The Meetra Chronicles, and Legacies of the New Jedi Order. While this story isn't canon in the Outcast timeline, it will include references. As for the main ship, I'm open to suggestions. Please follow, favorite, and review if you enjoy the story - it greatly motivates me! Thanks for reading.
Chapter 1
The world was at peace, but beneath the surface, tensions simmered. It had been four years since the Hundred Year War had ended, and the Avatar and his friends had all grown up. Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko were now young adults, but the scars of war still lingered. They had seen the best and the worst of humanity, and they knew that peace was always fragile.
It was during a trip to the Earth Kingdom that the group stumbled upon something that would change their lives forever. General Iroh, the grandson of Fire Lord Zuko, had discovered an ancient structure deep within the earth, made entirely of metal. He had no idea what it was or where it came from, but he knew it was important.
Iroh asked for the help of the Avatar and his friends to investigate the structure, and they agreed. They could feel a strange energy emanating from it, and they knew they had to uncover its secrets.
Appa touched upon the clearing within the Earth Kingdom. They were miles away from Ba Sing Sai. Completely surrounded by the vegetation and dense mountain ranges that made up the Earth Kingdom.
"This better be important," Snarked Toph. The young earth bending masters lounging lazily along Appa. "The studies of my students are getting neglected for this!" She whined.
Appa groaned as the large bison rested his head along the dirt. Team Avatar disembarking. "I am sure your metal bending students are going to be fine." Katara spoke.
Aang with an air augmented jump, leaped off his bison. The fully trained avatar held a smirk along his features. "Trust me, Toph," He said. "If you trained them like how you trained me. I bet there really going to enjoy this vacation!"
That caused the group to laugh as Sokka slid off Appa's tail. Sokka untwirling the map that was tied along his waist as he laid it on the ground. The group surrounding him as he observed the map.
"Alright," Sokka muttered. Tracing his finger along the parchment. "Let me see."
"I know that this is kind of random, guys," Aang paused as he smirked. "But it's kind of nice to do this again. It kind of reminds me of old times."
That thought caused them all to take a moment to sigh and reminisce. Four years ago, they had been on a journey to rectify balance within this world. Dodging Azula and her friends and the fire nation. Likewise, any other threats that had plagued their journey.
"If you want to call dealing with Zuko's lighting shooting sister a good time. Then, I guess you could say that" Sokka spoke. However, a second later his eyes widened as he planted his finger squarely on the map. "Okay, I think I know where we are and where we need to go."
The gang nodded as they packed up their equipment. "Sorry, Appa. But where we're going you're not going to be able to fit."
Appa let out a groan, but a couple of pats from Aang swiftly silenced the large bison. The young airbendor and friends making their way through the forest. It was five to ten minutes of walking until Toph felt it.
"It's…here."
Toph had paused, ceasing her movements as the rest of the gang realized that she was deathly serious. There had been something that took over her. The usual lazy and carefree Toph was now gone.
Her pale eyes fixated underneath her as her bare feet lightly dug into the soil. "Twinkle toes," She called out. "You feel it to?"
Aang took a deep breath, utilizing the same earth bending technique as Toph, however, the young airbendor's eyes widened a second later. Taking a couple of steps backwards as Katara and Sokka ceased the young man.
"Aang," Katara cried out. "What's wrong?"
Aang shook his head. "I don't know what that is?" He spoke the question out loud, not aiming it towards everyone in particular.
"Woah," Sokka called out. "Alright, can you explain this to the non-earthbendors. I would really appreciate it if you could tell me and my sister what you're seeing."
Toph sighed as she whirled towards the siblings. "I understand now why the earthbenders alongside Iroh were so shocked by this," Toph planted her foot, nodding along as she whirled back towards her friends. "Right underneath us. There is a structure completely enclosed with metal."
Sokka and Katara's breaths both hitched. "What?" Katara spoke up.
Sokka was far more hesitant. Shaking his head with the pairs assessments. "Come on," He spoke up. "That has to be impossible. Where would anyone have had the time to build a bunker completely out of metal, especially out here?"
The assessment was well placed. What would be the point of it?
What would be the point of a metal room, practically the only real assessment could be a bunker. Yet, the only real people that could do that would be the fire nation and they knew Zuko wouldn't have done this, so it had to be during the war.
Yet, why would Fire Lord Ozai make a fire nation bunker so far away from any proper battle zones?
The questions were raised by Sokka's own voice and words. The rest of the group only stared and nodded along with his assessments.
"Is it possible that they could've used it as a mobile base?" Katara questioned.
Yet, both Aang and Toph both shook their heads at that. Aang answering. "There isn't any proper way that me and Toph could find. It's just underground and there is just a major blank that we can't see. A complete area fashioned by metal."
There was a chill that rode over the group's spine at that somber and eerie thought. A room made of metal that no one could escape from. No way in, and no way out. But what would even be the point of doing something like that?
"Well," Toph broke through the atmosphere. Her smirk etching along her features. "How about we stop talking and see what's down there."
"Woah," Rose Sokka's hands. "Maybe, we should think about this. We really don't know what we're getting into Toph."
Yet, Toph waved his concerns aside. A second later she pounded her feet and in a blend of hand movements bent an opening. A large chasm in the shape of a solid hole opened deep within the earth. Easy enough for the gang to traverse through.
Toph followed suit, not bothered by the darkness, and feeling the way through her feet and senses. Aang shrugging his shoulders as he gazed towards Katara, the young couple both sighing with a smile as they traversed into the darkness.
Aang sparking a flame with his hands as the trio went down. Sokka was the last one down as he sighed. "Why do I even speak sometimes." He muttered to himself as he raced down the deep expanse of the tunnels."
It took them between ten to fifteen minutes of walking to make their way towards they suddenly stopped. "That's where it ends." Toph spoke.
Aang flashing his palm of fire around their surroundings as he was able to spot the opening in front of them. Aang approached it cautiously, his eyes widening as he realized that it was some kind of crashed spaceship. The others gathered around him, staring in disbelief.
The spaceship was like nothing they had ever seen before. It was made of a shiny metal that reflected the sun's rays, and it was shaped like a giant egg, with strange, angular designs etched into its surface.
As they drew closer, they noticed strange markings on the side of the spaceship, markings that they couldn't understand. Aang reached out to touch it, and as his fingers brushed against the metal, he felt a strange energy flowing through him.
"What is this?" Sokka asked, his voice full of wonder.
"I don't know," Aang replied, his eyes still fixed on the spaceship. "But whatever it is, it's been here for a long time."
Toph stepped forward, her keen senses attuned to the vibrations of the earth. She placed her hand on the metal surface of the spaceship and closed her eyes, concentrating.
"It's been here for a very long time," she said finally, her brow furrowed in concentration. "Years, maybe even decades."
"But where did it come from?" Katara wondered aloud.
"I don't know," Aang admitted. "But there's something... off about this place."
As they studied the spaceship, they noticed a strange hatch on the side. Without thinking, Sokka reached out and pulled it open, revealing a dark, cavernous interior.
The group exchanged nervous glances, but their curiosity got the better of them. They cautiously stepped inside, peering into the shadows.
As their eyes adjusted to the darkness, they began to make out strange shapes and objects scattered throughout the spaceship. There were strange machines that they couldn't begin to understand, and glowing screens that displayed unfamiliar symbols and languages.
"This is incredible," Sokka breathed, his eyes wide with wonder.
Something was waiting for them, something that had been dormant for years. And as they drew closer to the truth, they realized that their discovery could change the course of history, for better or for worse.
It was Sokka who first noticed the strange insignia on the metal wall of the spaceship. He squinted at it, trying to make out the intricate lines and shapes.
"Hey, guys, come look at this," he called out to his friends.
As they gathered around, Sokka pointed to the mysterious symbol etched into the metal. It was unlike anything they had ever seen before, a strange design that seemed to be made up of sharp lines and circles.
"What do you think it means?" Aang asked, his curiosity piqued.
"I have no idea," Toph replied, shrugging her shoulders. "But it doesn't look like anything from our world."
Katara nodded in agreement. "It's like something from a different galaxy altogether."
Sokka couldn't shake the feeling that he had seen the symbol before, but he couldn't place where. "Whatever it is, it's definitely not from around here," he said finally, stepping back to admire the strange insignia.
The group had paused. Their gazes and directions piqued as they each were interested in different portions of the spaceship.
As the group explored the interior of the strange spaceship, they were unsure of what to do next. Sokka was the first to speak up.
"Guys, I think we should just leave this thing alone. We don't know what it is or where it came from. We should tell everyone about our discovery and wait for the White Lotus to do a formal investigation."
Toph, however, had other ideas. "Hold on a minute, Sokka. I've been tutored by some of the greatest minds within the Earth Kingdom, and I can tell you with certainty that this is something that definitely did not come from this world. Metal forging is still pretty new, and for this to be in the Earth Kingdom should be impossible."
Katara wanted to stay and investigate more, believing that there had to be more to learn from this place. "We should lead the charge because we are far more skilled," she argued.
Sokka shook his head. "No way, Katara. We don't even know what we're dealing with here. This could be dangerous."
Aang, not wanting to take sides, suggested they take a vote. But as they were distracted, Toph quietly made her way to the control panel and started messing with the controls.
As they continued to argue, tensions grew increasingly tense. Sokka became more and more frustrated with Katara and Aang's insistence on staying and investigating, while they remained firm in their beliefs that they had a responsibility to explore the ship.
"Just because we're skilled doesn't mean we should throw caution to the wind," Sokka said, his voice growing louder with each word. "We don't even know what we're dealing with here. This could be dangerous!"
"I understand your concern, Sokka," Aang replied calmly, "but we can't just turn our backs on this. There could be valuable information here that could help us in the future."
Toph, meanwhile, continued to explore the control panel. Suddenly, she pressed a strange button and the ship roared to life. The bridge, which had previously been dark and lifeless, was now illuminated with sparking energy.
The group gasped in surprise as they looked around at the destroyed bridge. It was clear that this ship had been through some kind of catastrophic event. Wires hung from the ceiling, sparking with electricity. The walls were charred and blackened, and pieces of metal and debris littered the floor.
As they took in their surroundings, the group began to feel a sense of unease. They knew they were in uncharted territory, and the unknown always came with its own set of dangers. But despite their fears, they all shared the same sense of curiosity and excitement at the prospect of uncovering the secrets of this ancient, otherworldly ship.
The door of metal was still sealed shut. Yet, there eyes were directed towards something else in entirely. In the corner section of the ship…
"Oh my god," Katara murmured. "There is someone in there!"
The gang's eyes widened as they saw it. In the corner of the bridge, right next to the door they had tried to budge open and further explore. There was a pod that was once dark, but now it was freshly illuminated.
A lone figure moved within the water…
As the ship roared to life, the group's attention was drawn to a large pod at the back of the bridge. The pod was lit up from the inside, and they could see the faint outline of a figure lying inside.
"What is that?" Toph asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
Katara, who had been busy exploring the control panel, moved closer to the pod. "It looks like some kind of sleep chamber," she said, running her hand over the smooth surface. "But it's like nothing I've ever seen before."
Toph, with her acute senses, moved closer to the pod and placed her hand on its surface. "Hmm, I can feel vibrations coming from within. Whatever or whoever is in there is still alive."
Sokka's eyes widened in surprise. "You mean someone's been sleeping in there for all these years?"
Aang nodded, his face serious. "It looks like it."
The group stood in silence for a moment, each lost in their own thoughts. They all knew that they had stumbled upon something incredible, something that could change the course of history. But they also knew that they had a responsibility to handle it with care.
As the group discussed what to do with the sleeping figure in the pod, Aang couldn't help but draw parallels to his own experience of being frozen in ice for a hundred years.
"It's just like finding me again," Aang said, his voice filled with wonder. "I can't imagine what it must be like to wake up after so long and find that the world has changed so much."
Sokka placed a hand on Aang's shoulder, a sympathetic look on his face. "Yeah, I know what you mean, buddy. It's gotta be a shock to the system."
Toph, who had been quiet until now, spoke up. "We should probably try to wake them up gently. Who knows how they'll react if they suddenly wake up and find a bunch of strangers standing around them."
Katara nodded in agreement. "I'll try to access the controls and see if there's a way to bring them out of sleep slowly."
Sokka paused at that. Turning towards his sister. "Don't do it like last time, Katara," He whirled towards Aang and Toph. "Did my sister tell you that she used my club to beat Aang out."
That caused Toph to break out into a sudden laugh. "Wait," Aang whirled with an open expression. "I was frozen in sleep for nearly a hundred years. And you used a club to get me out!"
"Welp, it worked." Katara simply responded. Her dark blue eyes lighting up as she glanced at the strange symbols on the console.
Katara couldn't resist the urge to touch the random keys on the pod. She pressed them haphazardly, not really knowing what she was doing.
Suddenly, with a loud hiss, the pod opened and revealed a young man inside. The gang couldn't help but stare in amazement and curiosity.
"What did you do, Katara?" Aang asked, a hint of worry in his voice.
"I don't know!" Katara exclaimed, holding her hands up in defense. "I was just…going with the flow."
Toph couldn't help but let out a laugh. "Katara's always breaking things," she teased.
Sokka joined in. "Looks like we found another popsicle, guys," he joked, referring to the time they found Aang in the iceberg.
Even Katara couldn't help but chuckle at the lighthearted banter. That was because the man was standing straight up, but as they thought he was coherent and could walk. They thought they could joke, that was furthest from the truth…
The young man from the darkness and the pod was hard to see through. Yet, they saw him as he collapsed onto his knees and then fell straight onto the slick metallic floor of the ruined ship. The gang scrambled unto him.
"Oh my god!" Katara cried out. The healer rushed as the gang surrounded him. "Give him space."
Katara grabbed onto the young man. First off, he was bearing the ruined clothing of some old flight suit uniform. His skin was slick with the strange waters that were scented like healing ointments.
Katara eyed his skin and checked his pulse. "I don't…"
Water spurted from his lips. His back arching within her grasp as tired and heavy breaths unloaded from his lips. His eyes were still closed as he shivered underneath their touch. Katara held him for a bit until he stabilized. That was when she spoke again.
"Hello, who are you?" Katara slowly murmured.
The figure moved closer to Katara's ear. Then, his lips slowly opened. His eyes crashed back close as his body slumped back into her arms. For a second they thought he had slipped into death's embrace, only if they didn't see the rise and fall of his breath.
Katara continued to hold the young man, now knowing his name. "Darovit Nadd," she repeated softly. "Captain of Revan's Revenge of The Sith Empire."
The gang looked at each other, unsure of what to make of this new information. They had stumbled upon a mysterious spaceship and now they had found a young man who claimed to be a captain. It all felt too surreal.
But as they looked around the destroyed bridge of the spaceship and felt the ominous energy that surrounded them, they knew that something dark and sinister was at play. The feeling was palpable, like a thick fog that was slowly closing in on them.
Sokka was the first to break the silence. "Guys, I think we need to get out of here. This place is giving me the creeps."
Toph, always the skeptic, chimed in. "You think? I'm pretty sure we stumbled upon some intergalactic horror show here."
Aang, who was still in shock from the discovery of the hyper sleep pod, added, "We need to figure out what's going on here. Why was this ship here? And who is this Darovit guy?"
Katara nodded in agreement but couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. She felt like they had just opened a Pandora's box and didn't know what was going to come out of it.
As they prepared to leave the spaceship, the gang couldn't help but feel like they were being watched. They quickly made their way back to Appa, with the feeling of impending danger following them like a shadow.
The journey back to the Earth Kingdom was filled with silence, each member lost in their own thoughts. The discovery of the spaceship and Darovit Nadd had left them all shaken to their core.
As they landed back on solid ground, the gang made a pact to investigate the matter further. They knew that they couldn't let this go and had to find out the truth about the mysterious spaceship and the young captain.
But as they walked away from Appa, the feeling of darkness and malice lingered in the air, a foreboding sign of what was to come next.
