Chapter 30: Another failure

"Woah! Have you seen anything so…glamorous?" Ashei asked, amazed as she looked at the mansion.

"By the way—"I started but got interrupted while I tried to hide my snicker. Ashei gave out a yell then fell on the icy floor that was in the middle of the room.

"Ow…" she whined, rubbing at the side. "Link, you big jerk. Why didn't you tell me?!"

I made a small 'o' with my mouth before muttering something nastily so I stomped away only to slip on the icy floor and fell right beside Ashei.

"Monkey see, monkey do!" she laughed while getting up. I eyed the poe that was floating around aimlessly and we quickly darted to the door to open it.

Warmth greeted us the moment we entered. There was a fireplace ahead of us, followed by armchairs and couches that were a few centimeters away from the fireplace. A long red carpet decorated the floor as it matched perfectly with the beige walls while the wooden floor was a nice shade of brown. There were also other things like tables, nightstands, picture frames and chairs.

"Wow." Ashei whistled.

"…Who?" our eyes settled upon another yeti though this one was smaller than the other yeti. She looked like a female since her voice was soft and gentle.

"Hey, look another yeti." Ashei whispered.

"Really? I didn't know that." I replied, sarcastically until my shoulder received another punch. "Ow."

"Uh…Sorry…" she coughed. "I have sickness, uh…Come closer, uh?"

We walked towards the yeti.

"You cute little humans. Husband told me you come."

We both secretly shot a look.

"Yeah we came here. And aw, aren't you just a cute little yeti?" Ashei squealed as she cooed.

I mentally face-palmed though the female yeti seemed to blush at the compliment.

"I thank you, human. Name is Yeta."

Ashei smiled. "I'm Ashei and the reckless kid over there is Link."

I scowled at her before smiling at Yeta. "Hello."

Ashei then left to explore the living room in every aspect as she could. When she was gone, I started to speak in a lower tone.

"Hey um Yeta? Does anything seem strange to you?" I asked, quietly.

She seemed to be in a deep thought before she nodded. "Bad monsters appear…So many bad things happen since mirror…" she widened her eyes then coughed as if to cover up the word she had just said.

"Mirror?"

Yeta looked away, not willing to speak about it.

"Please Yeta. I can help you get rid of it but you need to tell me where it is and what exactly happened."

Yeta stared into my eyes. It was a long silent pause before the yeti had finally given up and spoke.

"Since I get mirror, I get sick so we lock bedroom on third floor where it hangs, uh? I tell you where key is…Fever makes head blurry, but…right now…can't even get up. Would you bring it to me, uh?"

I smiled. "Of course."

"Start with door right here…"

As if by magic, the door that was diagonally behind me got unlocked.

"Hey, Ashei." I called out. "You don't mind if you stay here, right?"

She paused what she was doing and frowned when she turned around to look at me. Her hands were crossed against her chest. "Of course I mind! I want to explore the mansion!"

I threw an annoyed look. "Look: you're still healing and I need you to stay here to rest."

"You're not my mom!" she threw her hands in an aggravated way.

"I don't care, Ashei!"

"Healing?" Yeta asked. "What happened to Ashei?"

"She got injured on her way up here." I told her while flashing a cheeky smile at the glaring Ashei.

"Oh you poor human! Stay here, uh. Do what Link tells you, Ashei. Husband is making soup."

"You heard Yeta. You stay here while I go."

On a journey that could possibly kill me as well. I thought.

"It's not fair!" Ashei shouted. "How come you always get to go? I was the one who found out about this! I should go!"

"For what? You don't even know what I'm looking for."

She narrowed her eyes. "And just what are you looking for?"

I paused in mid-sentence while immediately regretting those words that came out of my mouth.

I shrugged. "It's nothing. You don't need to know."

"Yes I do need to know!" Ashei marched towards me and grabbed my shoulder that made me to whirl around so that I could face her.

"No you don't, Ashei!" I snapped. "What's my business is my business! You don't need to know!"

She looked like she was trying to calm herself down but couldn't since Ashei lashed out.

"You know what? Fine! Be like that! See if I care if you get yourself killed!" she turned on her heels so that her back was facing me and her head was bowed down. Unaware to me, tears were slowly coming into her eyes but she blinked them away.

I stared at her then sighed.

"I'm sorry but it's for the best." I whispered, wondering if she had heard it and I walked away to the opened door.

"Uh! YOU!" the husband's loud voice startled me after I closed the door.

"Hi."

"Wife…look bad, uh? Not healthy since mirror…"

Huh; so he knows about the mirror too. I'm glad.

"So I make soup for her. Fish from Zora village are most nutritious! You tired, uh? You have some. It give you energy!"

I smiled faintly at him. "Thanks um…"

"Yeto, friend!"

I chuckled. "Link. My name's Link."

I tried the soup and felt a lot better as I felt the warmth from the soup heating my cold body. It wasn't that bad…it just felt that it was missing something.

Seeing another door, I went towards that door and was now in a new room. This one seemed to be filled with an icy floor (though there were solid ground around the icy floor) and two large crates that were at each corner.

I also noticed a switch that was ahead of the frozen clump so I probably had to move the available crates to that switch in order to trigger something. After much grunts and failed attempts (hey, the boxes were heavy…), a chained gate slid open to reveal the now available door so I went through that one.

I called Midna to transform me into a wolf since there was a hole I need to dig in order to go to the other area. Once out, wolfos started to lunge at me though I swiftly dodged them as I did not want to fight any of them. However, there were ice blocks that blocked the other part.

I dug up a treasure chest and received a key so I spotted two open windows though I chose the one that was closest to me. Of course, there was also an icy path that contained two mini-Freezards so I ignored them as they were not worth my time.

Seeing a locked door, I went back to transforming into a human so that I could open the locked door using the new found key in order to get into the room.

As soon as I entered in, a chained gate slid down instantly locking me in so I knew I had to fight something in order to get the door open once again.

The thing I had to fight were the mini-Freezards which were quickly defeated by a lot of jump attacks, mortal draw and other sword techniques. There was a time when I had been nearly frozen so I jumped out of the way and quickly ended the mini-Freezard with a powerful jump attack.

I got out of the room and into a new room. This one was large and was nearly empty except for another door that was ahead. In that "new" room, it contained a treasure chest.

I jogged towards the door but it got locked. With a hard thud, two Chilfos appeared beside me. They were icy, humanoid enemies that had spears as weapons. I quickly did a backflip to avoid their oncoming attacks. I made them to attack first and when it was my turn, I quickly did a back slice which had the enemies to be quickly killed.

Once the door was unlocked, I went inside the mini-hallway like room to obtain the item that was in the chest.

"What's this? This isn't right!" Midna exclaimed. "She got the wrong location."

"Calm down, Midna. You know, when you're sick, you can't exactly think straight." I mumbled.

"Whatever." she rolled her eyes. "Let's just go back and try to get her to remember where the key is."

I trekked all the way back to the kitchen.

"What flavor…" Yeto suddenly said as he sniffed the air. His eye went wide as he found out what it was. "Uh…PUMPKIN!"

He then turned to look at me who was beside him though I cautiously eyed at him, wondering what he was going to do.

"You have pumpkin, uh?"

Without a warning, Yeto slammed his giant fists at both sides of me which knocked me down to the ground as well as the pumpkin that fell out. I laid on the ground with a dazed expression while having the wind knocked out of me.

Kay, that hurts.

Yeto picked up the pumpkin happily as if nothing had happened.

"Pumpkin, pumpkin, uh!" he then placed the pumpkin into the soup. "Thanks, uh! You taste if you want!"

I muttered something under my breath then went out of the room. Ashei glared at me once I came into the living room so she moved out of the way whenever I came close.

"You find it, uh?" she asked.

I shook my head. "No. It was pumpkin."

"What? But why there?" she then went into her deep thought mode. "No good, uh…Where I leave it?" she mumbled until a spark in her eyes came. "Uh! Maybe in THAT room."

The door that was diagonally in front of me got opened.

This time, I hope that it was the key. If it was something else, I would flip.

It was another room as this one was filled with snow, Wolfos, Freezards, ice blocks and a cannon.

Oh yeah and doors.

I continued to ignore the Wolfos as I jogged on the snowy ground in order to reach the far window. When I had reached it, I climbed through the open window and saw a door which I opened it to get to the next section. This one represented like a mini maze that was filled with ice blocks and mini-Freezards that roamed around the hallway.

I narrowly dodged the oncoming mini-Freezard.

The two mini-Freezards were still there and I defeated the two horrid enemies with a quick spin attack.

I gave out another shiver before continuing through the mini maze while occasionally defeating the mini-Freezards. But, when I reached at the end of the first path, I picked up a heavy rock boulder and decided that I probably need it.

I finally arrived at my destination which was arriving at a cannon. I rotated the cannon so that it was facing the ice blocks after putting the boulder in the cannon then I took out a bomb and placed it inside the cannon.

After a few minutes of waiting, the bomb was exploded sending the rock to smash through the ice blocks and landed on the opposite side of me. I went to the available path and went through another door after opening it where I found a new room.

I peered down below to see a very deep chasm while studying the ledges. Before I went even on the ledges, I quickly killed the mini-Freezards and then I continued do the things I needed to do.

I then got out of this room by going back through the same door and then got out of the room by entering the old entrance.

I was back in the room that had snowy ground and a Freezard while it also had ice walls. Once I obtained the item (which was a key) from a hidden chest that got dug up.

I used the small key on the locked gate that was to the east and headed through it. After spotting a lever that was on the left side of the door, I pulled it down so that I could place one of the cannon balls in the handle.

I got out of the door and turned to the right since I saw another mechanism and of course, I pulled down the lever to reveal the cannon ball. I picked it up and headed my way to the cannon so I could kill the Freezard.

Once that was done, I headed through that door and went inside another room.

I entered a hallway that had "statue" of knights so I walked towards the end of the hallway but suddenly stopped since I thought I heard something. Something like an object being swung.

I turned around and somersaulted just in time while the swinging object smashed the knight statue that was behind me.

Once up, I drew out my sword and gaped at the moving knight that dangerously held a large ball (that looked like it could smash a person into pieces) with a chain being attached to it. The figure—which I just realized was a Darkhammer—pulled back its ball and glared at me.

The Darkhammer was completely covered by armor but the more I look at it, the more I observed that its tail wasn't protected so I knew that it was its weak point.

The menacing enemy swung its deathly weapon while I quickly looked up to see that there was a target up at the ceiling so I quickly used my clawshot to get myself to the other side of the beast.

The beast then threw its ball but I avoided and I took this time to viciously attack the vulnerable tail. The Darkhammer protested and let out a roar of pain before it pulled back its weapon and started to swing it again.

I spotted a spot—it was a narrow one—so I thought I could move to the other side by rolling through it. Once the beast turned around to the other side, I hurriedly made my move by starting to do a somersault but the creature had spotted this so its weapon rammed painfully at my ribs, sending me to fly through the air a bit.

I grunted uncomfortably when my head struck the long, metal bar but quickly ignored the pain and this time, I avoided the deathly attack by doing a somersault. After waiting for two seconds, I grabbed the ceiling with the clawshot and I was at the other side.

Like before, the monster launched its weapon and I started to attack its tail furiously until it picked up the ball again. However, I made a stupid move in which I was sure to get scolded by Midna. I accidentally waited for too long and the beast rammed the ball hard at my stomach.

The hit made me to fly through the air until I skidded on the ground. I suddenly found that it was very hard to breathe so I slightly made a choking sound as I tried to get some air in.

I didn't had the time to get myself in order since the beast was starting to come closer to me. Because of that, I timed it right and it was about to be successful until the ball painfully struck me at my shoulder (just as I was being lifted off the ground), forcing me to stumble down to my knees.

I swiftly somersaulted to the side when the monster threw its ball to the floor.

Picking myself up, I hacked away the tail as many times as I could until the Darkhammer had finally succumbed itself. It slowly dropped to its knees until it clumsily plopped itself down onto the floor, unmoving.

I gave out a happy laugh at the accomplishment even though I practically had cracked ribs (probably) and a broken shoulder for sure.

Joy.

After picking up the extremely heavy weapon (which made me to fall several times), I got out of the long, narrow hallway and into a new room. There were ice blocks that blocked my path so I tried to use the Ball and Chain. Because of the broken shoulder I had, it was very difficult to use it.

"Aw, food again?! Yeah, I had a bad feeling about this. She didn't seem very sure of herself…"

I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, sure you did. Let's go back again…"

A/N: Aw, poor Link. He's injured. Ooo, Ashei's gonna be in big trouble in the next chapter. You'll see. Toodles and R&R!
