Chapter 38:

I gave out a yawn, rolling my head to the side a bit. Man, it feels nice to have the world being taken off your shoulder for just one day. I wrinkled my nose then scratched my back since it was itching me. Again, I scratched it.

What…?

Why is it so itchy?

Muttering, I rolled on my back and slowly opened my eyes halfway seeing something blurry on my stomach.

Oh look it's a Walltula…that's nice…

My eyes closed until I automatically made them to fly open.

A WHAT?!

It was then that I gave out a scream…

"Do you think he's awake now?" Beth asked, annoyed. "I'm hungry!"

A sudden ear-piercing scream filled the place, making everyone to freeze what they were doing. All eyes were laid on Talo who was shoveling food into his mouth. He was about to have another spoonful of porridge until he looked up.

"What?" he asked, his mouth full of food.

"What did you do?" Ilia asked.

Talo shrugged. "Nothing. I only put a Walltula on Link since you asked me to wake him up."

Stares.

"What?!" he demanded.

Thundering footsteps ran down the stairs and everyone whirled around to see a very heated me who was trying to breath properly.

"Who…in their…right…mind…put a WALLTULA ON ME?!" I shrieked, making them to cringe.

Breathe, Link breathe

Everyone landed their eyes on Talo. My eyes sharply moved its way towards him.

"Talo…" I said through my gritted teeth.

Talo swallowed his food. "Oh hi Link."

"Hi Link?! That's all you have to say?!" I screeched.

"Link…take a deep breath and sit down to eat breakfast." Ilia replied, calmly.

Twitching, I reluctantly did so while at the same time giving Talo a death glare look. I stared at the food before grinning widely.

Better watch out Talo, I'm gonna get you!

After breakfast, I helped Ilia with the chores that pretty soon broke into a water fight. I, of course, had won but when playing with girls, they would always have some type of trick up their sleeves. So when I wasn't looking, Ilia dumped a whole basin of water on me…Needless to say, Renado wasn't happy but I could tell that his mouth was twitching with amusement.

Everything in the kitchen was now neat and tidy and all that stuff.

It still pains me to see the golden barrier that covered the castle. I just hope Zelda is okay.

But a sudden horrible feeling in my gut told me that she wasn't.

I flinched at the barrier so I turned around as I could no longer look at it.

"What? I said we're closed…now scram!" the annoyed woman replied.

Geez, someone's grouchy…

"Did you not hea—"

"I came to help." I abruptly cut her off. She blinked, gazing at me as if I was suddenly fascinating then rolled her eyes.

She scoffed. "Why should I believe that? How can you help? There are boulders that are blocking the river's path and you need bombs to destroy it."

"I've got bombs and arrows."

"Right. Look kid, can you just scram? I'm busy since I'm trying to figure it out on how to open up my business. Now, shoo!"

I gave out a huff, pinching the bridge of my nose before stalking away while muttering. Suddenly, loud THUDS snapped me out of my muttering state and I just realized that I was penned in again.

One thing's for sure: I can't transform into a wolf…

The woman screamed, snapping me back to reality.

"GET THEM OUT!" she screamed.

I chuckled inwardly. Not so tough are we now?

The first beast came at me so I swiftly did a mortal draw, knocking it out of the way. I then quickly went towards the two beasts that were close to the frightened woman and just like that, the monsters fell down once I did the spin attack.

And I left without a scratch.

"Whoa, that scared me…Who…are you?"

"Link." I offered.

She nodded. "Well Link. Thank you for saving my life. But I have to ask you."

"Go ahead."

"How can you keep your cool fighting monsters like that?"

I grinned, broadly. "I've dealt with them before."

Her eyes widened with shock. "You mean…there's more of them?"

"Yup!" I paused. "If you know where to look for them."

She gave me a stunned look. "…You're crazy! Why would you want to look for them!? But anyways, come on inside!"

We were at the store which wasn't much except there was a wide river that flowed down the path. The woman, who introduced herself as Iza, explained to me how things have been getting pretty crazy around here.

"So thanks for earlier…" she replied.

I shrugged. "It was nothing. I'm just doing my job."

"Still…" she responded then went back on the subject. "I rent boats here as you probably have already figured it out…well, I used to rent boats here, but then we had a rockfall and it dammed the river up. Yeah…I could sure use a helpful guy around at times like this…Yup, a handy guy would sure be a big help around here…"

I rolled my eyes. "I'll help."

She gasped with delight as her eyes shone with happiness. "Oh you will?! You're a lifesaver! Well, do you think you could do something about that rock? I'll give you some bombs and arrows, so you just put 'em together and shoot bomb arrows at that thing."

I got out my arrows and attached the bombs at the arrow tip. It's pretty risky and tricky since I have to time it right so I wouldn't get blast.

"Stay back." I told her.

Aiming it, I pulled the string back then released it. The bomb arrow collided with the rocks, forcing the rocks to tumble down into the water as the water current was now flowing freely and faster.

"Yay! You did it! Well, my gal tells me there are still some rocks blocking the way along the river, so you should take care of those, too. Here's the boat…Hop in!"

I opened the closed gate and descended down the ladder in order to get into the small boat. The boat wobbled from my weight so once it was steady, I sat down and placed my bomb arrows at the seat in front of me. There was also a paddle that was sitting across from one end to the other side.

"Now…it's a teensy bit dangerous downriver of here, so don't leave the boat, ok?" she called out.

"Don't worry! I've been in a life-threatening situations many times!"

I smiled, paddling away while leaving a baffled Iza. She also shouted that I can keep the bomb bag and everything in it as a token of her appreciation and her gal would be waiting down the river.

Riding down the river proved to be quite difficult as there were narrow paths here and there and the current kept on being faster and faster so I had to carefully steer the boat since I definitely didn't want to lose the bomb arrows.

Heavy water poured down on me when I entered through the waterfall after I destroyed the pieces of scattered wood. But other than that, I actually enjoyed riding the boat. Another waterfall soon came into the view and the boat and I plunged down, creating a medium splash.

While going down the waterfall, I could see the great bridge that stood way above us out in the distance but it was soon washed away as I descended further down.

Turning the boat got a bit harder since everytime I tried to steer in the direction I wanted to go, it would turn in a semi-circle but after paddling left and right, I got the boat back in its track.

"Ah!" I looked ahead and saw a Zora floating in the water. I tried to halt the boat but it wouldn't work since the water current was still running.

"Ack! Look out!" I closed my eyes, waiting for the impact but it never came.

Curiously, I opened one of my eyes and there was the Zora who was not injured. Her hands held the boat as she looked at me.

"I…um…hi…?" I awkwardly said.

She giggled. "You've come at the request of the shop owner, haven't you?" she asked.

I nodded. "That is right."

"Well, I'm in her employ…part-time for now. I'm sorry we've troubled you so." she apologized.

"Oh no! It's okay. This is not a trouble for me." I insisted. "I chose to do so."

"Oh?" she asked, surprised. "Then you have my thanks." she then turned to the boulders that blocked the path. "As you probably know, the boulders are blocking the natural flow of the river. All you need to do is use your bomb arrows to destroy the blockage."

I did just that.

"You did it! Thank you!" she exclaimed, excitedly. "Ahh…And the water has already begun to flow. Then I shall guide you to the mouth of the river. Follow me!"

She released the boat so she can swim away. I let the current to carry the boat while I occasionally have to steer it. Things got a bit trickery down the river when I came across a stalagmite that was hanging down from the rock ceiling. I grunted when the boat rammed itself into the stalagmite, nearly throwing me off the boat from the collision.

After I steadied myself, I resumed my paddling. We soon arrived at Lake Hylia so I just let the huge waterfall to descend me down.

"Good job out there!"

"Thanks." I smiled, paddling away so I can get out of the boat. I reached the platform and got out.

"You have truly done us a great service. Now the shop can finally reopen! When we were closed, my boss's temper only got worse and worse…it was a rough time for us all…"

Now why does Iza remind me of Midna…?

"Oh, and another thing…I don't suppose she promised you anything special for doing this, did she? Just that bomb bag, right?"

"Yeah."

"Yes, she tends to bribe people with whatever's lying around…So stingy, really." she muttered, earning me to crack a smile. "It's alright. I'll let her know you kept it when I get back."

She then dug out the item out of her pouch and threw the bomb bag in which I caught it.

"Now, if you'll excuse me…Come visit at the shop sometime!"

"I will." I called out as she swam away.

Too bad I couldn't keep the boat…

A/N: I wish we could've kept the boat XD it would've been so much fun having that with us…Sorry for the chapter being…a bit short and sorry for the delay. I had to work on my other stories DX so I'm sorry if you think I had abandoned this but I didn't! I'm still working on it…
