Chapter 42: Finally
Once I got out of the mini-boss room, I resumed doing the task. I found myself back at the circular room—the one where it was leading me to the mini boss and started to go all the way back up until I saw the beehive. Since I now have double clawshots, it was way easier than it was before.
The beehive triggered the once closed golden gates. Seeing a target, I aimed for it and got yanked in. The door automatically shut itself, having no way out so I went through the entrance that led to a new room.
This room held the pillars which made me to be cautious about them. I panicked when the first pillar started to go down (of course, looks can always be deceiving when you're a Hero) so I quickly darted from one pillar to the next until I reached the solid ground. Like many times, I entered through the door.
The wind whipped at me, causing my hair and my hat to dance around while I was busy targeting the targets that were up on the ceiling. A deku baba lowered itself out of its spot though I killed the evil plant with two shots from my clawshots. The process continued until I reached the end of the line.
This only led me back to the very main chamber. I quickly somersaulted my way on the blue tiles to be in the center of the room before walking straight ahead where I had to use my clawshot on the vine to be able to reach the target (that was above the door) that was far ahead of me.
I then got out of the room and found myself, facing the broken bridge. I looked up to see peahats hovering above me. On the other hand, I bit my lip when one of the Kargaroks started to fly towards me but then changed its route. I breathed out a sigh of relief since it didn't attack me.
I really need to stop saying the good things since it always turns up bad in the end. Yeap, I got chased from a Kargarok…I'm not surprised really.
In this next room (though it was the one where I went before the bridge got broken), there was a lot of clawshotting…I swear it made me dizzy so I had to stop by carefully getting to the edge and waited for the vomit to come out.
It never did and I was thankful for that. I really didn't want to face a person if he or she got struck by my vomit.
Especially if Ashei got hit from it…
The lower I go, there were more targets. Yet again, I really shouldn't be surprised because there were so many gaps which I couldn't make it.
Ah, well.
As I was continuing to clawshot my way, I was also wondering who build this City. I know Shad said that these Sky Beings had built this City (A/N: Skyloft, anyone?) but to me, it doesn't really make sense, you know? I mean, Ooccos do not have any hands. So how can such creatures, such as them, build this City?
It would need a human.
Shaking my thoughts out of my head, I realized that I was out of the clawshoting room. This new chamber had a Big Baba that was placed in the center of the room. Knowing its strategy, it was easily defeated.
This room reminded me of the other circular room—the one that led to the mini boss…I also destroyed the Deku Like with a bomb and now I was able to resume back to my work.
So, I started to scale up the room.
Occasionally, I was looking down below—man, that's high. No I'm not afraid of heights. I bet you anything that people are only afraid of heights because they are afraid to fall. Either that or I'm going paranoid just by looking at the ground. I think I will go with that one.
Sometimes, there would be narrow paths so I was careful on how I would balance on it. Finally, I was at the top by targeting myself to the target that was attached to a pillar which was implanted at the ceiling. Since going down was the only way to go, I descended down to where I was met with a Dinolfo.
They are the creatures that are heavily armed and they can attack by using daggers or by turning around with their tails. I just found that out the hard way…
Out of all the lizard creatures, I think I would stick with the lizalfos.
After a few hacking, slashing and using the ball and chain, the damn Dinolfo was done, allowing me to walk straight ahead to the door. The new room took place outside while there were firm grounds that allowed me to stand on. I looked up to see peahats so I hooked myself on one of them until it was time for me to latch onto another one.
I feel like a dead body whenever I was hanging onto the peahats since I was so still…one person would think that something was wrong with the body…well, hello to you too.
This went one for a while until I got to the door that was on my left when I dropped myself on the upper ground.
Harsh wind greeted me, causing me to nearly be blown off my feet. I waited (for the wind to calm down) by the door when I went back. When it died down, there were another bunch of peahats to tag along; I did just that.
The new room—it doesn't even look like a room as it was outside—was another circular one with bunch of ropes that were tied from one end of the building to the end of the pillars.
I quickly killed the enemies that lingered on the ground and at the top of the pillars. Seeing vines that were at the North section, I targeted the clawshot and got pulled towards it. Walking on the ropes required me to transform into a wolf and it also required me to turn back into a human whenever it is necessary.
A lot of transforming that I was sure my body will go sore from all of this…
I finally got to the door after crossing ropes here and there. I then entered the door to where I was met with two Helmasaurus and a large wind vent with a propeller that spun around.
I tried to not be noticed by the enemies but of course, they spotted me and I went into my fighting stance and started to attack them. There was at one point where everything got crowded since I got cornered. It wasn't fun, needless to say.
I had to use my Iron Boots in order to not get blown away from the wind vent. I then saw an all familiar treasure chest and I knew that in the chest was none other than the boss key.
Hooray.
Hmm…I wonder how many days I had been in here.
Up above me, I saw another one of those beehives so I got to work by pulling it down and felt that the wind vent stopped blowing wind. I also saw a hole at one of the corners but I quickly disregarded the thought of jumping down and I really don't feel like spraining or twisting my ankle.
These targets things are everywhere and I probably just said the most obvious things…didn't I?
I grabbed onto another target and descended myself down until it was safe enough for me to jump. I also noticed that this propeller stopped moving so then I made the clawshot to target the "fence" from the wind vent above and lowered myself yet again.
However, I didn't jump down since I just barely spotted a beehive that looked like it was trying to hide itself. So, I pulled the beehive.
Which activated the wind vent that was straight at me.
And like many times, I entered the door after I went down.
I heaved out a sigh when I saw that I had to more clawshotting since there were a couple of propellers up above; I started to do the exhausting work. When that was done, I entered yet another door while feeling a Kargarok flying behind me.
They're annoying really.
I felt my eyebrow twitch since in this room, there were many targets such as those propellers and the all too famous normal round targets. With a few minutes, I heard flapping noises like wings and of course two Aeralfos welcomed me as they were flying above the air.
As if one Aeralfo wasn't enough…
Since I knew what their tactics was, they were easily killed…if one of them would stop ramming into me! Damnit!
On the other hand, one of the Aeralfos started to sneak up behind me but I reacted quickly enough to do a mortal draw before ending the second creature. The first one had been killed by having a lot of scratches and bruises and sore muscles and…
You get the idea…
I did a jump attack on the last winged creature. It turned out that it wasn't dead. How can that be, I have no idea. I then quickly did the fatal blow on it, ending it instantly.
Wiping the sweat from my forehead, I started to aim all those targets…
I gave out a frustrated sigh when I had missed yet another of the target so I sat down when I was in one of those holes that was implanted at the walls.
"Missed again?" Midna came out but I could see her trying to stifle her snicker.
I nodded, having a glum expression. "It's just so frustrating!" I cried out as I sprawled myself on the cool ground while I let my legs dangling off the edge.
Midna rolled her eyes. "Well maybe if you timed it right and take it slow instead of hurrying things, you wouldn't keep on missing it."
I scowled at her, closing my eyes. "Aren't you the smart-alec?" I grumbled. "Screw this. I'm gonna take a nap."
"In this cold room?"
"It's not that cold."
She raised an eyebrow then smirked when I felt a chilly breeze entering through my body.
"I'm sorry. What was that?"
"Shut up."
With that, I got transformed into a wolf since that would at least keep me somewhat warm and fell asleep. Midna came in, leaning at the side of my body as she snuggled against me to keep herself warm.
After the nap, I reluctantly took Midna's advice by taking things slow and all that stuff.
At last, I made it to the top…to where the locked boss door was. I opened it and went through the door.
"S-u-c-c-e-s-s. That's the way how you spell success." I mumbled as trudged through the place that would lead me to the boss.
"Bored much?" Midna muttered.
"Sure."
When I reached the battling area, at first everything seemed quiet which made me to feel uneasy. As I walked further into the battlefield, I couldn't help but to feel that something was watching me as I took every step.
The large prey circled around me up above before it zoomed into the arena and I just narrowly avoided the dive. The armored creature went back up, hovering diagonally above me and then it released a loud terrifying roar that caused me to go into my fighting stance.
Those four tall, huge pillars weren't standing around for nothing. So I took out my clawshot yet again so that the claw can grab the target. I then started to attach myself to the next pillar and waited for the dragon to come by. Quickly spotting the weak point, I grabbed the object that looked like a handle and flew myself towards it.
Since my weight wasn't heavy enough to pull down the dragon, I paused since I didn't know how to get on my Iron Boots.
"Um Midna." I called her, sheepishly.
She smirked. "You want me to materialize the boots?"
I nodded, earning a laugh from her. I felt the magic wrapping around my feet and instantly, I felt the heavy boots on me. I tugged down the dragon which earned a painful roar until the beast smacked itself on the ground, causing some of the armors to fall off.
This seemed easy enough.
I continued the same process until the third one. On the third try, I pulled down the creature's tail to have the armors to fall off completely. However, this pull seemed to slightly knock the creature out as it laid still for a couple of minutes.
I drooped my head down since I just now noticed that a medium size jewel was shining brightly. The dragon shook itself to get itself to get back in order then it flew itself up into the air to release yet another roar. The animal shook itself again—this shook was a bit powerful than the other one—and all of the armors was fallen off.
It flew in the air for a bit until it unleashed another roar to indicate that the battle was not over yet.
How I wish it was…
The once cloudy sky instantly became darker and unfriendly as it had storm clouds which indicated that a storm and rain will come.
When the creature flew into the air, rain started to pour as it immediately made me to shiver from the cold.
I was about to get the clawshot to attach one of the pillars but before I could even do it, something seemed to be struggling underground. Curiously, I walked towards it until at last, it emerged out of the ground.
It was peahats that came out of the ground.
The peahats flew into the air until they were the same height as the pillars.
Since I knew what to do, I began to grab from pillar to pillar until I reached a peahat. It wasn't easy to do this through the rain since the rain would continuously blurry my eyesight as they would fall onto my eyelids so I try to blink them away.
I reached at the top of the pillar but the creature gave out a roar, indicating that it was going to attack. Just in time, I yanked myself to a peahat just as when the dragon breathed out fire. When I got tugged, I could feel its hot heat, brushing against me.
The winged creature still continued to breathe fire, hoping to burn its prey alive since it would go around in circles in the same path as I am who was currently trying to avoid the fire by going from peahat to peahat.
The dragon finally stopped breathing out its power but I still continued to go around so that I can be behind him and then I will latch onto him so I can hack away the jewel; I did just that.
When I was on its back, I continued to slash away at the jewel as many times as I can before the creature started to fall down. I clung onto the edge of the jewel for dear life until at the last moment, I jumped off the dragon and did a somersault to save my fall.
The creature landed with a hard THUD. Not wasting any second, I automatically started to climb up the pillars. It was then that the creature came around since it was facing me. However, when I reached at the top of the column, the wind blew me, knocking me away but I grabbed the edge of the pillar just in time, letting myself to dangle until the wind would stop blowing.
It stopped blowing a little, allowing me to resume my task. Of course, the creature breathed out its fire when I latched myself onto the second column. Before the fire could even reach me, I instantly grabbed on a peahat and started to go around.
Things got a little complicated when the creature started to become smarter. Instead of going around in circles, like it had before, the animal had now stopped halfway and changed its direction, forcing me to change my path by going the other way.
I was finally behind its back so I quickly grabbed onto the jewel and started to hack away until the dragon began to fall. Like before, I jumped off the dragon when it was time.
And I repeated the process.
There was this one time where I had missed it completely. As a result, the fire scorched my palms, forcing me to take off my clawshots.
Metal and fire does not go so well…
Wincing, I pouted at the ruin clawshots. Because they are not that good as they were used to, it was getting a lot difficult. Eventually, the dragon was defeated as it let out a long agonizing roar, releasing its fire everywhere while I was clinging to the dragon with dear life as it thrashed itself around.
It continued to fly higher and higher until it couldn't, dropping itself. I gasped when it started to drop at full speed though the only thing I could do was to cling myself against it.
"Link…"
"I know. I know. Give me a moment."
"Don't play heroic when you are going to get yourself killed! Drop now!" Midna hollered.
"It's still too high and I would want a safe landing." I muttered.
"Link—"
"Alright!"
When it was a few centimeters (more like ten though it felt more than that) away from the ground, I jumped out, feeling myself flying for the next few seconds. Like I said before, my landing wasn't that great since I sprained my ankle.
I shot Midna a dirty look as I limped towards the Mirror Shard that had been formed into the air. She shrugged while her eyes contained eagerness and happiness.
"Better late than sorry." she said, nonchalantly. "But there it is! The final shard! Link, it's the final shard!" she screamed, causing me to jerk my head up.
"I'm awake." I mumbled but I couldn't help it but to grin like an idiot. We had finally got the last Shard.
Finally.
"Now we have them all!" Midna replied, excitedly as she grabbed the shard with her…hair. But she suddenly changed her reaction as she stared on the ground so I knew something was up.
Before I could even say anything, she beat to me first.
"Hey, Link…" she spoke, quietly.
"Yes?"
"The words of the sages…Do you remember them? Only the true ruler of the Twili can destroy the Mirror of Twilight. Zant could only break the Mirror of Twilight into shards. He couldn't utterly shatter it. That's proof of his false kingship."
I could almost feel Midna smirking. She then gently flew away to create a portal.
"Link, we have to hurry! To the Mirror Chamber! After all, a fake is a fake…and no matter how much you dress it up, the real thing always win!"
The wind gently blew as I walked towards Midna.
"I'll get you out of here. You're sure there's nothing else you need to do, right?"
"Just take me home. I'm done here."
Nodding, she vanished and I stepped into the familiar portal that warped me out of this place. I'm just glad that this is done.
A/N: *gasp* can you believe it?! We're actually getting close to Palace of Twilight! My favorite dungeon of all times! Except for that floor master thing…those things are the pain in the butt =.=
