WATCHER REPORT- ANDRZEJ STANIEK # 361

At times like these, the scale of our operation shows its merits. Upon my arrival at London Heathrow I collected the package left for me at the counter as requested.
The information on Staniek's arrival has proved invaluable. Given recent events it may have proved impossible to locate him otherwise. For obvious reasons I took a separate flight to him, but reckoned without the four-hour delay and divert to Paris.

Ordinarily, Paris is one of my favourite cities, but not at this moment in time. My assignment is so important that any delay threatens to disrupt the Chronicle, potentially disastrous the way events are unfolding. Staniek is up to something. What exactly, I don't know. I am sure that it has something to do with his meeting with Krannix/Koren, but I do not think that he is headhunting, at least not in the conventional sense. DuBois was different- He hunted (or at least attempted to hunt) Staniek, and ultimately lost.

Stateside, he purchased tickets for the Chicago Bears-Green Bay Packers game, but did not show up. The same weekend, Petrov, a scientist at the educational centre turns up his toes. Is this a coincidence, or was Staniek involved? I am unsure. If so, what would Krannix/Koren want with him? From what we know of his behaviour, Koren is usually one to despatch them himself, and not necessarily swiftly. Yet, the autopsy report (of which I have included a copy for reference) revealed that Petrov died of a spinal fracture, consistent with a fall. It also confirms the presence of alcohol in his system, in a concentration expected from drinking spirits. It sounds like Staniek's handiwork, making something appear to be something else, but yet it equally could be a tragic accident. I suppose time will tell.

I referred earlier to a package I collected regarding my assignment. This was an audio report compiled by a colleague working in the airport. I will forward the audiocassette to Watcher HQ (Europe) for transcription.

In summary, Staniek reported to the Lost Luggage desk, regarding a missing item. My colleague was unable to find out what this was at the time. We now know this item to be his sword. Needless to say Staniek is less than impressed. To lose such an item is quite literally a matter of life and death.

He has left as a forwarding address, the details of a hotel in Taplow, a village some 20 miles from here, should the package be recovered. In the meanwhile he will doubtless make arrangements vis-à-vis weaponry. Armed or unarmed, he is the consummate warrior. As yet Staniek has given no indication nor left any clues as to his motives for travelling back to Europe, merely stating his purposes as being here on business. The next few days will be very interesting indeed.
