*Bows on hands and knees*
I am...so very sorry...its been about 5 months since my last update...and all I give is this...
The only excuse I have is that I had MAJOR writers block...again. Also I got distracted by other fanfictions i wanted to write.
I actually started 3 other stories instead of trying to do this one...I'm so sorry T.T
Well there's only a little more until the 3 year gap and then the real drama will start XP
Enjoy!
Chapter 12
Setting off again
Alexis watched as the sun rose about the rooftops. The clock across the room told her it was 5:46 am.
She could hear Roy tossing in his sleep, no doubt plagued by memories.
She knew not to go there, previous experiences told her she would only be hurt by her brother.
He was an extremely light sleeper, despite how loud he snored. He had learnt to sleep light or die when he was stationed in Ishval. She had tried to help him before, shake him out of his nightmares. She still had the scar. Alexis would never let him know he had scarred her though. She made him think it had healed without a mark, not that another one would make a difference.
She caressed below her ribcage on her right in memory. Of course it would still be there, he was aiming to kill after all.
She snapped from those dark thoughts and rose from her seat, joints popping from sitting for so long.
Roy's eyes flew open without a sound. He had to be quiet in case the person in his tent spotted him and attacked. Roy wouldn't let them get close to him.
Light flooded from the opening in his tent, a silhouette stood in front of it.
His hand crept toward the side of his mattress.
"Don't even think of it, Roy Mustang, You know you're safe at home dummy" A light voice chided.
He blinked. The tent was suddenly his room and the silhouette holding a weapon was his sister with a tray.
He forced every muscle in his body to relax as he sat up.
Alexis crossed the room in large strides, gently placing the tray on his bed before throwing the curtains open.
Roy rubbed his tired eyes.
"Alexis, you're going to get hurt one of these days" He sighed. I'm going to hurt you... a voice in his head cringed.
"Don't be ridiculous! If I don't wake you up then I'll get Riza storming the building, guns loaded. You always forget to set your alarm" She laughed.
A warm smell floated to his nostrils and he peeked at the tray through his fingers. It wasn't much, just pancakes and some -slightly burnt- bacon. It had taken her months to master the pancakes and many blackened pans.
Roy had been the taste-tester, much to his horror, but now he was all too happy to eat them...the bacon, however, made him nervous.
Alphonse's routine morning was similar to Alexis', only he brought his brother food from the military cafeteria.
Ed lay sprawled across his bed, automail leg hanging from the side, hair splayed over the pillows and his mouth wide open, drool trailing down his cheek.
Al sighed as he spied the small puddle of saliva next to his brothers face.
"Brother, you need to stop sleeping with your mouth open" He muttered to himself, knowing his brother wouldn't wake unless there was a loud noise or he was pulled out.
Alphonse had found another solution.
He put the food on his brother's bedside table and pulled out a hand-held fan, wafting the smell to Ed's face.
His nose twitched before he frowned, eyes opening blearily. His stomach growled.
"Al, my hero! Food!" He cheered, throwing himself into sitting position and
snatching up the meal.
Al rolled his glowing eyes with humour.
Ed and Al met Alexis outside Roy's office, she had her hair in a plait to the side, rather than down her back and all black clothing as usual.
"You took your time" She grinned at them, a nervous thump in her chest.
"Well, we don't have a brother that can drive us around, do we?" Ed shot back, a smirk on his lips.
Alexis relaxed.
"Good morning Alexis!" Al smiled.
Alexis sent him a smile "And to you too Alphonse! Well, shall we see what my brother wants then?"
Al waved as the shorter two entered the office. He wasn't allowed inside, officially he wasn't allowed inside the building. Ed had ranted at Roy until Al had been given special permission. He was only allowed so far though; otherwise he would have been seen as a security hazard, with all the secret documents and such around.
Alexis sent him a wave back before she closed the door behind her.
The whole team was already there, signing paperwork as fast as they could while Riza stood watching them, hand over her gun holster.
The blonde woman looked over to the teenagers and her eyes softened.
"Alexis, Edward" She greeted, sending them each a nod. "Are you feeling better today, Alexis?"
"Yep! It's like I was never wounded at all!" She reassured the woman.
Ed had already turned to Roy's office door, having a greeted everyone. Alexis simply watched with amusement when he lifted his leg for a kick.
Roy had told her of this annoying (to him) occurrence.
A loud bang of boot-covered metal foot on wooden door and an annoyed groan later, Alexis was still chuckling as Roy sent her a look.
Ignoring the Blonde's insults, the Colonel cleared his throat.
"Now, I have your next mission here, unfortunately this is for Alexis-"
"Yes! No more bodyguard!" Ed yelled, throwing his fists in the air.
"-So you will be joining her, Fullmetal" Roy finished.
Alexis snickered behind her hand at Ed's disappointed look.
"Oh come on, I'm not THAT bad to be around, am I?" She asked.
Ed quickly waved his hands around, trying to deny his previous behaviour.
Roy cleared his throat again, amused by how they act together, but also annoyed.
The glare he sent to the young alchemist confused the poor blonde.
"Anyway, you guys have to go to Leighberg, there's an informant there. Apparently he has some information on some terrorists."
"Why is this my mission? There are missions that Fullmetal could be going on that are more pressing." Alexis asked, turning professional as she did.
A vein popped out of Roy's head as he replied "This guy will only talk to girls, he requested you specifically..."
Alexis' eyes widened in surprised and she blinked.
"Erm, I guess that's fine, when are we leaving?"
"In about an hour"
Alphonse stood patiently in front of the doors to the office.
I wonder where we'll be going next. He thought, waving politely to everyone that passed.
Sometimes he still got strange looks but most of the people in the East City Command Center knew who he was and some stopped to chat when they could.
All in all the Elric brothers were well-liked in East City.
He looked up when the doors opened. Ed looked annoyed, his hands shoved into his pockets. Every time he glanced at Alexis, he would glare slightly.
Alexis had a professional look on her face that resembled Hawkeye's.
Al wondered if that was where she learnt it.
When her eyes met Al's glowing ones, a grin appeared on her face, making him want to smile too.
"We gotta get packing again Alphonse!" She told him. "We're going to Leighburg."
Well, hope you enjoyed that.
All my assignments for uni should be finished soon so i will probably be able to get another one out at that time.
Also, I discovered that i REALLY like writing Roy and Alexis' sibling relationship. :D
And I watched an Royai AMV with the song Angel with a Shotgun and completely fell in love with it. The song suits them so well! :D
Till next time!
