Castiel led Sam to the water and Cas ran in till his ankles were in the water. As Cas threw a rock in Sam watched in confusion but was shocked seeing a gold tail swish upwards and a figure pulled itself up onto the rock. Gabriel saw Cas and smiled but froze seeing Sam and than to his brother.

"Cas! What the hell?! Gabriel asked and Cas waved his arms a bit trying to explain with his hands and Sam stepped up into the water before Gabriel.

"He told me what was going on. I'm here to help.. He told me he was a day and night left." Sam said and Gabriel squinted his eyes and Balthazar pulled himself up.

"What's going.. Whose the jolly green giant?" Balthazar asked and Sam sighed.

"Sam.. My name's Sam.." Gabriel leaned over and cooed over Sam as he curled his long golden tail.

"Well where can I get some legs~?" He purred and Castiel frowned and glared at his brothers, "Alright alright Cas! We'll figure something out what to do."

"Why not seduce him the way merfolk do?" Balthazar suggested.

"How does that work?" Sam asked and Gabriel sat up and smirked, Cas looked around for some things around him.

"We'll show you. Just lemme ask you something."

"Anything."

"Is there a good spot to decorate near a lake?"

"Where are you taking me?" Dean asked as he and Cas were in the row boat and Sam pointed to the other side where the willow tree hung into the water. Dean rose a brow and than to Sam.

"Row there. Trust me." Dean sighed hearing his brother and began to row to the willow tree. Dean didn't get what was the hoopla about this but he did it anyway. Under the boat Gabriel and Balthazar swam by, careful not to hit the boat and moved the vines so the small ship can go into the cover area. Decorated with beautiful lights and flowers. Dean blinked looking around. Lanterns decorated the tree and near shore. Dean looked to Cas and he felt his breathe hitch. Castiel was wearing just a simple black t-shirt with a red jacket and jeans with his converse. But his eyes. The most beautiful blue he's ever seen before. Reminded him of the look he got from him on sunset. Gabriel looked and pouted and bopped the boat a bit causing Cas to fall onto Dean. Dean of course catching him. As the two moved back looking into their eyes. Speechless Dean cleared his throat and Cas took the male's hands.

"I think their gonna kiss!" Gabriel whispered to Balthazar. They smiled to one another but Balthazar sped past Gabriel seeing Crowley's eels going to the boat. The two mermen fought the two eels but one beat Gabriel to the boat and knocked the two over. Hearing Dean curse the four scattered and swam off. Dean helped Cas stand in the water and creased his brow.

"You okay, Cas?" Dean asked and the shorter male nodded. As Dean helped Cas to shore Cas felt disappointment. He had tomorrow. Tomorrow left! He curled up next to Dean on shore, trying to keep warm. Feeling a peck on the forehead Cas smiled a bit. Even though he had tomorrow left. He could spend it with Dean.

Castiel sat staring out into the water. He couldn't sleep. It was his last day on land. No more gooy waffles from Benny's cafe and hot chocolate, no more hearing Bobby calm the boys down after a fight. He sighed and closed his eyes, he was sad. He and his brothers.. Sam.. They worked so hard to try and seduce Dean the merfolk way. But nothing... He quietly cried as he curled up. He had till dusk to kiss Dean. Or he'll get his tail back. And something horrid would happen.. Gabriel spoke with Crowley to find out WHAT would happen.. Poor Cas would die.. Not said by how or by who... But the deal was for Cas to kiss Dean within the span and he'd live.. But die?

He couldn't imagine living without Dean, people believe that love can't happen within a few days. However for Cas.. It did. Did Dean feel the same? Hopefully. Cas jumped hearing someone sit next to him. It was Sam. He looked as upset as Cas was. He heard what happened and knows Cas has a few hours left. Sam sighed and rested his head on the railing.

"I'm sorry Cas.. We tried.. And I can't tell Dean yet it's.. How am I gonna tell him..?" Sam said sighing. A splash was heard bellow them and the two looked down. Gabriel had pulled himself up and grabbed at Sam's foot.

"Hey Cassie and gigantor! Why not tell this Deanie?" Cas shook his head and stared down, "Cas he's gonna find out.."

"Where's Balthazar?" Sam asked raising a brow. Gabriel relaxed in the water again with a heavy sorrow-some sigh.

"Home.. He's updating daddy dearest on what's happening.." Gabriel frowned.

"Take it not to well.." Sam sighed and looked to Castiel. He was rubbing his eyes with his sleeve, "Hey Cas.. We'll figure something out." Sam soothed, "Promise.."

"Sam! Cas! You here?" Dean called and Gabriel made himself scarce and the two looked up. Dean had entered with a bag of food and a tray of drinks.

"Hey Dean. What's that?" Sam gestured and Dean rose the bag.

"Breakfast." Dean said and Sam got up following Dean inside. Cas just stared back out to the orange sky. Hoping that this would be the day. Even though it's his last.

It was four hours till sun down. Sam was determined to get Dean to kiss Castiel. Sam just looked insane since Bobby nor Dean knew why. As the time ticked Cas wasn't feeling that good. Cas kept looking to Dean with worry and Dean didn't understand. Sam did though. And he wasn't happy... Gabriel informed Sam ways to help Cas get a kiss but none helped. And Gabe kept him updated. Sam was very worried, Cas had to be carried by Dean because he couldn't walk. Could that be a sign he was going to be in the water soon?

When they returned to the hotel finally it was an hour before the sun set. And Sam pulled Dean aside to talk to him. Cas sitting on the balcony.

"Dean... I swear look at this paper and tell me you believe him!" Sam showed the paper Cas wrote. Dean shook his head.

"I don't know two shits Sammy... He's not moving... We need to take him to the hospital.."

"We can't do that?"

"Why because he's a merman? I won't believe it till I..-" SPLASH! Sam and Dean ran out to find a pile of Cas' clothes on the balcony. Ripples in the water.

"What the...?" Dean blinked and Sam creased his brow.

"We gotta go to shore!"

Castiel fought the tentacles around him as Abaddon smirked to him, "Looks like you haven't gotten your kiss Cas~" She mocked and Cas looked away, "Gotten used to being mute~?"

"Shut up..." He kicked his tail and swam away, "I know my fate..."

"Where are you going than~?" She asked, "To dry on shore? Oh I wanna see that. Even though your daddy's throne would be a better offer for your life."

"What?" Cas looked over in shock.

"Hmm? Oh I just want your father's throne nothing much." Abaddon waved her hand and smiled, "Besides; your daddy already knows. However I think I'll get that Dean boy for myself~" And so Abaddon swam ahead and Cas close behind. No way in HELL she'll get a hold of Dean!

"NOT ON MY WATCH!" Cas said and kicked his tail as hard as he could.

On shore Dean ran into the water, in his jeans, boots, and t-shirt. Looking around and he was calling for Cas. Praying he was alright and well. As Cas started to yell it started to rain. Sam opened an umbrella as Bobby called for Dean who still shouted for Cas. But within a blink of an eye Dean was gone. Abaddon had her tentacles around Dean and Cas grabbed a sharp silver dollar and cut one around Dean's throat, helping him to get air. Dean coughed and looked to Cas and smiled.

"CAS! Thank god you're alright!"

"You too Dean.." Cas said and the said male blinked. Woah did Cas JUST talk?

"Did you?"

"Not enough time go!"

"Not without you!" Dean said and Cas swam away. Dean didn't get it what was happening?! Abaddon went to grab Cas but he kicked her away. As the storm raged on Dean was swept away back to shore. Last thing Dean saw was the ocean turning red bellow him. But the level of salt water caused him to black out. Whatever happened Cas was on his mind.

When Dean awoke he sat up and rubbed his head. Sam was there and he sighed happily.

"Thank god you're alive!" Sam said and Dean sat up looking around, "You okay?"

"Where's Cas?" Dean asked and Sam creased his brow and looked to Bobby. Who sighed and helped Dean stand and led him to the other side of the beach. Dean's eyes were wide when they arrived. A long dried tail was on the shore. As Dean looked up seeing how the scales faded to skin he recognized the face and figure. Running over he rolled the body a bit seeing it was Castiel. Eyes closed and all dried up.

"No... No no no...!" Dean picked the dried body up and ran into the water with him, "WAKE UP DAMMIT WAKE UP!"

"Dean!" Sam ran over and went to grab his brother but Dean ignored, holding the cold limp body in his arms. No breathing, no movement. Dean shook his head and was led back to shore holding the merman close, cradling him close as he fought the urge to just sob. Sam rubbed his back as Dean ran his fingers through the corpse's hair. Bobby frowned and sighed.

"We found him like this before we found you... Sam told me and well.. Let's say daddy dearest won't be happy.."

"Can I be left alone please..?" Dean asked and Sam and Bobby left agreeing. Dean looked to the body in his arms and looked to the scales than to Cas, "I hope you don't mind.." Finding it kind of difficult he was able to peal a few strong scales from Cas' tail and placed them in his pocket. Than to Cas, "I'm sorry.. I should have listened... I'm so sorry..." And as he kissed Cas' sun warm lips, not even caring that the merman was dead for the last three hours still looking fresh. He whispered in a sorrowful tone as he cradled Cas in his arms.

"..I love you.."
