Well a few people are anxious and I really like waking up to good reviews, so we'll make a deal! I posted now so leave a nice review for me to wake up to!
Spencer's POV
The car explodes with a deafening bang. I hold Aria against my body as tightly as possible as we fly backwards a few yards before smashing into the ground. My body is numb, and my ears are ringing. My arms are still tightly wrapped around Aria beside me. I'm too shocked to move.
"Aria! Spencer!" Emily brings me back to the real world when she kneels beside me. I turn my head to look at her and quickly scramble off of her, coughing on my hands and knees beside her.
"Aria!" Emily sobs, gently shaking her shoulders. Aria's eyes are closed and her body is limp in Emily's lap. Sirens sound in the distance and people from the street above begin gathering around us.
"Aria." I choke, finally done coughing, sitting next to the two of them.
"You're going to wake up right now, and you're going to be fine." Emily whispers, rocking back and forth slightly. My heart falls when Aria doesn't respond. She doesn't appear too injured, just a little blood in a few places, but she doesn't have any sign of life either. I watch closely and intently, and her chest rises slightly. I yank her away from Emily, probably a little too roughly, and begin mouth to mouth, urging Aria to take another breath. Emily stares in shock, even the tears that were rolling down her cheeks are frozen in place.
When I pull away, Aria inhales sharply and exhales as a cough.
"Aria!" Emily shouts. Aria's body jumps violently as she coughs. When her eyes finally open, she stares up at the sky and leans her head back into the grass. I let out a deep sigh of relief and sit back on the grass for a moment as Emily takes Aria back into her lap.
Aria's POV
The first thing I am aware of is that I am in Emily's arms and I can hardly breath. One of the only things I can register is that Emily is sobbing.
"Just breathe." She tells me.
"Don't say anything, just breathe." A new voice tells me.
"Spencer?" I croak in confusion.
"I'm right here." She says. When did she get here? A shiver runs down my spine as I remember a bit. It was like the Jenna Thing all over again. An explosion right in my face.
I sit up, but Emily refuses to stop supporting my body. When I finally catch my breath, I begin the questions.
"Where are we?" I ask Emily.
"We're..." Emily starts.
"How did I get out of the car?"
"I.." Spencer tries to say. I break out into another fit of coughs and Spencer grabs my shoulder to steady me. For the first time in over a year, I'm not feeling a hatred between Spencer and Emily.
"Just stop talking." Emily orders, pulling me into another hug.
Sirens get closer and soon people have their hands all over me, trying to take me places and talk to me.
Emily is no longer at my side, and neither is Spencer. Everything moves so quickly I don't realize what is happening until someone pushes me onto my back and tries to strap me down on what is presumably a stretcher.
When a strap goes across my waist, I am thrown back into the burning car under the seat belt and I begin thrashing to get out.
"Calm down honey! We're taking you to a hospital!" A kind voice tries to comfort me. I'm so confused. I'm in the burning car, aren't I? Or an ambulance? Who is talking to me? What is going on? Without my sight I can't tell which reality is real, I can hear the nurses voice, but I can also hear the explosion just like it's real. One last strap goes over my shoulders even though I try to jerk against it, and a rubber mask is placed over my mouth and nose. It panics me that I don't know what's going on, so I violently struggle.
"You know her?" I hear the nurse.
"Yes, just let me come in the ambulance with her." Emily's voice brings everything back into clarity. I'm on a stretcher in an ambulance, I'm on my way to the hospital, and Emily is here.
"Let me come too, I'm the one that saved her." I hear Spencer's voice. Spencer got me out? The ambulance wobbles slightly as they both get in and they say comforting words and keep physical contact with me as the nurse drugs me and I doze off.
Emily's POV
I sit uncomfortably in a waiting room chair, my leg bobbing up and down furiously. Spencer sits in the chair beside me, shifting uncomfortably in her seat every few seconds. I look over at her and any anger I ever felt towards her subsides. Ash is covering her face, the same as Aria's and possibly mine.
"Thank you." I tell her. She looks up at me in surprise and her eyes look like they're full of joy.
"It's all my fault." I finally break down, putting my face in my hands and letting the tears flow down my face.
"This wasn't your fault." She tells me, rubbing circles into my back.
"Yeah, it is." I argue. "I looked away... I looked away from the road to yell at her." I explain. A look of confusion crosses Spencer's face.
"Why would you yell at her?" She asks. Even though she's not trying, she's making me feel worse than I already do.
"It was stupid." I mutter. She doesn't answer me, but she continues to try and comfort me by giving me a slight hug. I can tell she's walking on coals around me.
I'm surprised she actually stayed and got Aria out. She had a good hold on me, if she wanted she could have pulled me away while Aria got blown up. But she didn't. She stayed this time, and she saved Aria's life when I couldn't.
"I'm sorry." I tell her.
"I already told you this isn't your fault." She scolds me.
"I'm sorry for shutting you out this past year." I blurt it out. Spencer's eyes soften and she turns my head so she can look me in the eye.
"Me too." She says.
"Family of Aria Montgomery?" A doctor in a white coat asks. Oh shit! We didn't call Aria's parents! Spencer and I share a worried glance before standing up and claiming ourselves Aria's family.
"We've checked her out multiple times, she's perfectly fine. She may need this inhaler for a few days to clear the smoke-" He hands me a blue inhaler. "And she had just a few stitches on her forehead and a slight concussion, but other than she's perfectly ok and ready to go home." He tells us. "But make sure you check on her every few hours, ask her what her name is, how old she is, stuff like that to make sure she keeps her memory."
(Don't worry I'm not turning this into a cheesy fic where she loses her memory, those are pretty annoying sometimes.)
"Ok." I answer. I look over the doctor's shoulder and a nurse is guiding Aria towards us. She looks a little roughed up, but a lot better than before.
"Aria!" Spencer and I both call in unison. She turns to face us and we both rush towards her.
"Hey guys." She says. Her voice is a little raspy, but we don't even care as we pull her into a three way embrace.
Review! And I'm going to make sure Ezra is in the next chapter for those of you who are in this story for Ezria!
