The next morning, Sam was awoken by a pair of warm, familiar arms snaking around her waist. She looked over her shoulder, seeing her new husband's eyes slowly opening.

"Morning," he mumbled, holding her tightly against his body.

"Hey," she smiled.

"You feel any different?" he asked, sitting up. "You know, waking up married and all?"

"I feel hungry," Sam grinned.

"Wanna go get breakfast?" Freddie laughed.

"Nah," Sam said, craning her neck up to kiss him. "Let's stay in bed longer. We're not gonna have the place to ourselves for much longer, might as well make the best of it."

Carly and the twins had spent the night in a hotel to allow Sam and Freddie to enjoy their first night as husband and wife together without any interruptions.

"Good thinking," Freddie agreed, kissing her back passionately.

"You know," Sam said when they broke apart. "I've never been a big fan of fancy ceremonies or anything, but our wedding was actually pretty fun."

"I love the tone of surprise, baby."

"Shut up," Sam laughed.

"I still can't believe we're married," Freddie said, rubbing small circles on her back. "This is such an amazing feeling. We get to live our entire lives together, Sam."

"You've been living here since we got engaged," Sam chuckled. "We're not exactly new to that."

"I know, but now it's official and stuff," Freddie shrugged. "We're one real-life family now!"

"Yeah, it's only a matter of time before you start breaking out the dorky dad shirts," Sam said. "The ones you have now aren't to far away from them."

"Ha, ha," Freddie said rolling his eyes. "Wait…Sam? Do you realize what we forgot?"

"Um, no?" Sam said.

"Our honeymoon!"

"Oh…" Sam nodded. "That."

"That?" Freddie frowned. "Don't you want to go on one?"

"Yeah, of course I do, baby," Sam said quickly. "It's just…now may not be a good time."

"Why not?" Freddie asked. "What's wrong with-oh."

"Let's just, you know, wait until after the trial with Marshall and get everything sorted out," Sam said. "Is that okay with you?"

"Absolutely," Freddie nodded. "Sorry, I should've realized."

"Hey, stop apologizing, you sound like a bigger dork than usual," Sam said, kissing him again. "Now come on, like I said, we won't have the place to ourselves for much longer. Let's at least do a little more than just sit in the bed."

"What else can we do in here then?" Freddie asked, raising an eyebrow seductively.

Sam rolled so she was now on top of him, leaning down to kiss him hard on the lips.

"That give you any hints?" Sam smirked.

….

"Okay, I've got the papers!" Freddie said excitedly a few days later, coming into the house.

"What papers?" Sam asked, looking up from the box she had been rifling through.

"The adoption papers to start filling out," Freddie replied. "What's in that box, by the way?"

"Oh, I just went down to our storage until and found some stuff from when the twins were first born," Sam said. "I thought it would be a good idea to start getting some stuff set aside for the new baby."

"Wow, they're really that tiny?" Freddie said, sitting down next to his wife as she pulled out a very small onsie.

"Yeah, well the twins were a month early, so they were extra small," Sam explained.

"Wait, I never knew they were a month early," Freddie frowned. "Isn't that pretty dangerous?"

"A little, yeah," Sam sighed. "But luckily at that point the doctor said they had had all their vital organs developed and stuff so they were just growing. They were fine, just small. Besides, once I found out I was having twins, the doctor told me I was likely not to make it to the full nine months."

"Um, when did you find out you were having twins?" Freddie asked.

"When I went to go find out if I was having a boy or a girl."

"So…at that appointment we have tomorrow, right?" Freddie questioned.

"Yeah," Sam nodded. "Wait…baby, are you hoping for twins?"

"Nah, I was thinking more along the lines of triplets," Freddie chuckled.

"If I'm having triplets, you're done for," Sam said.

"Relax, I'm kidding," Freddie said. "But I mean…twins would be kind of cool."

"Yeah, until you have to give birth to them…" Sam mumbled darkly.

"Where are the twins anyway?" Freddie asked.

"Carly took them out shopping since she's leaving tomorrow," Sam replied. "Oh, and her and I were gonna hang out tonight. You cool watching the twins?"

"Yeah, no problem," Freddie nodded. "Hey! We can start filling out the adoption forms together. They need to sign a bunch of things. So do you, actually. I need their birth certificates too, but I'll make copies of those later. I'm hoping this whole process can be done as soon as possible."

Sam sighed. "Freddie?"

"What's up?"

"Obviously I'm so happy you want to adopt them and have them be your own officially," Sam said. "But, um, I just wanted to let you know that you might hit a few bumps along the road with this whole thing. You know, since-since Marshall put in that custody dispute."

"Oh," Freddie said slowly. "Oh, I-I hadn't even thought about that. Yeah, I guess you're right…It's probably not going to be able to get done until this thing gets settled."

"I have that court date in three weeks," Sam reminded him. "If everything goes our way, we can get the adoption done right after that."

"Yeah," Freddie said. "Yeah…Listen, baby. I know you didn't want me there when you met with the lawyer, but I really think it would be good for you if you had me there at the court case."

"Freddie, I don't know if-"

"I'm your husband," Freddie said gently. "I want to be there for you. I know you can handle yourself, but-but maybe it'd be nice to have support."

Sam looked over, giving him a small smile. "Fine. If you want to be there…whatever."

Freddie chuckled. He wasn't fooled. He knew Sam was glad to have someone there while she faced her ex-boyfriend for the first time in ten years.

He was just anxious to get this all done and over with. It seemed like only when Sam got complete assurance that the twins would never have to see their father again would they ever officially get to begin their new lives.
