Kai POV: I groaned loudly as I woke up not feeling the best. My head was achy and I felt sore all over. I might be sick, but it could also be nothing. Thank goodness that it's Jay's turn for patrol tonight and I can just relax. But I still have other things to do.
I pushed myself up and crawled out of bed. I cleaned up and changed as quickly as I could and left. Zane was in the kitchen, cleaning up his breakfast with Cole at the table. I wasn't hungry so I didn't enter.
But he must have sensed me because Zane said, "Kai, you should eat."
Busted, "I'm good, thanks"
He looked at me and frowned, "Are you okay? You looked a bit pale." Cole looked at me too when he said that.
"I'm fine, really. I just didn't get as much sleep as I could have."
They didn't look completely convinced, but they didn't say anything. And I took that as my opportunity to leave.
I went to the deck and found Jay on the stairs, moping.
Curious, I walked over and asked, "Something wrong?"
"I'm patrolling tonight, of all nights." he mumbled, but I wasn't seeing a really bad problem.
"I know, not the easiest thing, but you gotta do it." I said, going to stand in front of him.
"But I already have plans tonight, and I can't really change them because…"
"What?" I asked, but I had a feeling.
"...It's date night tonight, and both Nya and I were looking forward to it." I groaned internally.
Nya was more than capable of making her own choices, but I still wasn't sure if I could trust Jay completely.
"She isn't the type of person to get mad over a canceled date. You'll be fine." I said, reassuring him.
"I know, but we were going to the aquarium that she's been wanting to go to since coming to Ninjago City. I don't want to disappoint her." he said, quietly.
Of course it was there. But unlike what Jay knew, I've known that Nya always wanted to go there since she was a kid. However, Cole patrolled last night and Zane is going to help Borg. Which means…
I sighed and said, "I'll cover for you tonight, so go on the date."
He perked up immediately and asked, "You sure?!"
"Yeah, but make sure she has a good time." I said, glaring at him.
But he ignored that and said, "Thank you so much! I promise she'll have the best time ever."
He then ran off and I sighed again. I really wanted to relax tonight, but whatever. I just hope tonight is easy at least.

I just had to jinx myself. Only an hour in and it starts raining up a storm, and of course I didn't look at the forecast and didn't wear my rain proof uniform.
I groaned loudly, and I really wanted to punch myself for my stupidity. Jay and Nya were probably already there. She must be having fun, so that's the only reason I could tolerate this.
Fortunately, it seems like the rain was putting off criminals, so I just had to run across the rooftops and make sure that nothing was wrong.
But Ninjago City wasn't called the biggest city in Ninjago for no reason, and it took me several hours to patrol carefully before going home.
And right as I was about to go back a couple of idiots decided to try and break into a shop.
Right in front of me.
I watched in shock of their stupidity as they tried to break the lock with their hands. Nothing, just their hands. And they weren't even covering their faces. They had hoods on, but I could easily see their faces. How can anyone be this dumb, and then meet someone else just as dumb?
I jumped down, surprising them, and quickly took them out. They tried to fight back with their fists. But they had no training whatsoever and that made it a whole lot easier. I tied them up and waited for the police to show up.
But they weren't close at all and because of the rain they got delayed by an hour. And there wasn't any good cover so we had to wait right there in the rain, which got worse.
I was extremely tired by the time I got back to the Bounty, and everyone was in the living room chilling out. Lucky.
I crept into my room and quickly changed out of my drenched uniform. I didn't feel like taking a shower so I just dried off and changed into some warm pajamas. I felt so much better after that.
But right as I was climbing into bed someone knocked on the door, of course.
I got back up and opened it, and found Nya smiling.
"What?" I asked, confused.
"I just wanted to say thank you. Jay told me you covered for him so we could go tonight. Thank you so much." She answered, looking and sounding really happy.
Well, if she was this happy then I guess it was worth it after all.
I ruffled her hair and said, "Anytime, Sis."
She waved away my hand, but smiled. Then she left and got back into bed. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was out.
Hopefully, tomorrow is not as chaotic.
