Sorry for the huge gap in updates. That was totally lame on my part and no amount of validation will give you guys a chapter any faster. I appreciate the hell out of all of your comments. I love submitting a fanfiction chapter thinking it was the worst thing I ever wrote and then finally mustering the courage to check comments and see you guys enjoying it. I guess we are all on the same page! Sweet. I will try to update a lot and maybe even wrap up the fanfiction within the next two weeks. I am deploying on the 15th, and for some reason I don't think it would be practical to try to write South Park Fanfiction in boot camp. Maybe it's just me…. Anyway
I checked my cell phone a few times and smiled to myself. I would officially show up to Kenny's house twelve minutes late. This would totally show I was not desperate at all. I was totally fine without seeing Kenny. Hell, I bet I could go all day or all week or all-
My thoughts were cut short as a familiar chime on my phone sounded. I quickly looked down to check what Kenny had typed to me.
"Dude, are you on the way? The gourmet buffet I prepared for you is getting cold." I laughed a bit to myself and decided against writing back. I was around the corner when I got the second message.
"Too late, the buffet is closed. You're stuck with hot cheetos." I shook my head and knocked on the door.
"There is no lock!" I heard Kenny's voice through the thin door. I pushed it open and waved a quick hello. All of my awesome greeting lines and conversation starters I had planned on disappeared the second I seen him.
"Hey, sorry for being late!" I apologized. Way to be smooth. Kenny nodded and lifted the bag of chips.
"Not as sorry as you're going to be. At least these are Kosher." He shook his head in mock sympathy. I couldn't help but laugh. I felt much more at ease finally being at Kenny's place. It was the almost perfect escape from everything.
"So what should we do for the presentation? I think we have watched enough movies to at least get started." Kenny leaned over the couch and grabbed at a folder of crumpled up papers. He pulled out one I recognized as the project sheet.
"There was one on there I thought sounded less shitty than the others. I hope I didn't make it up." He hummed to himself as he looked through the list. "Ah, there we go." He pointed to the paper and I leaned over to see it.
"Oh sweet, dude!" I grabbed the paper and smiled.
"I know." He nodded and smiled back.
"How would we make a documentary presentation about movies though without it being totally boring?" Kenny flipped open his laptop screen and pulled up a few movies we had watched.
"I was thinking we could show the 'scary' parts of the movies and try to analyze what makes it scary in regards to the country it came from." I thought it over for a few seconds and nodded.
"That sounds awesome! Good plan." Kenny shrugged and mumbled something about it being just a thought and looking through a few films. He already had the times marked down for the creepy parts.
"It only needs to be ten minutes long. I don't want to make it any longer. Too much work." He slid the computer over to me and lay back in the couch. "Look over the scenes I have pulled up. They add up to five minutes all together, so we are going to have to talk over some parts."
"Ok, this works. I have some good editing programs on my computer for videos, so we can work on that next time you come over. Let's just get the script down and call it a day." We both worked on planning out dialogue after looking up some stuff about the countries of origin and their mythology and stuff.
"I can't do anymore tonight!" Kenny whined after about an hour. "This is supposed to be fun and I am already bored as hell. Do you think we have enough?" I laughed and shut the computer.
"Yeah, it's good enough." I was usually much more thorough in my research and preparation for projects. Kenny must have sensed my discomfort and sighed loudly.
"If you over research this, you'll suck the fun out of it. We know what we need to." I shook my head and grabbed for the laptop.
"I know, but I think if we just put a little bit more-" I was quickly shut up by a pillow being smashed over my face, knocking me off the couch. I heard Kenny's muffled laughter and shot up.
"What the hell, dude?" I yelled and grabbed for the pillow, smiling. I swung the pillow towards him while holding onto the edge of it. He easily grabbed it with one hand and pulled it over his head, knocking me off balance again.
"You suck at this." He laughed as I crashed on the side of the couch. He still hadn't changed positions and tried to maintain a bored looking face. I stood up and brushed the wrinkles out of my shirt. I seen Kenny close his eyes and put his arms over his face, yawning loudly. I quickly grabbed the pillow and tried to hammer it down on him-
"Ouch! Let me go, dude!" I laughed. Kenny had swung his leg out and pinned me to the couch. Even though he appeared to be scrawny, he could easily kick anyone's ass, even Cartman's and especially mine.
"Are you going to quit researching for the night?" I sighed and shook my head, laughing again.
"Ok, ok fine! You win." Kenny promptly let me go and reached for the remote.
"Our neighbor's just got cable." He smiled. "It's pretty great." It took a second for his comment to process.
"You could go to jail for that, Kenny!" I winced mentally as I sounded way too much like my mother with my warning.
"Nah, they wouldn't try it. I have some stuff on them that would keep them quiet." Kenny cleared his throat and shook his head. "I'm joking, it's ours." I wasn't sure whether or not to believe him. He seemed a bit nervous so I grabbed the remote out of his hand.
"Not a bad selection." I said sarcastically, browsing through the channels. "At least it takes longer to see there is nothing on now. Prolonged hope is better than no hope." Kenny laughed and ran his fingers through his hair.
"Put on Comedy Central or something. It's all reruns, but at least they are amusing." I nodded and turned to the channel.
As it got later, we decided to order a pizza for dinner. We chatted for a while about nothing in particular until a comfortable silence fell over us. I stared at the TV, not really hearing anything being said and not really caring. Kenny seemed just as content.
Our veg fest was interrupted by knocking at the door.
"I'll get it." I stretched and stood up. "You can buy next time."
"Cartman warned me." Kenny shook his head. I looked over my shoulder at him.
"What did Fat Ass say this time?" I grabbed my wallet out of my pocket.
"You're a Jew with money." He sighed. I rolled my eyes and laughed.
"What?" Kenny pointed towards the door.
"You're probably going to make me buy steak for next time." I flipped him off and opened the door. I was fiddling around with my wallet, trying to pull a $20 out.
"It's in here somewhere, just let me-" I glanced up to see eyes staring back at me through a mask. I jumped back in surprise.
"Where is he?" The voice sounded distorted and desperate. Not a good combination.
"Who?" I grabbed for the door to shut it but was too slow. Before I knew it a gun was pressed firmly against my forehead.
"Don't be stupid, kid. I heard two voices in here. Where are you hiding him?" I glanced over my shoulder, terrified and searched for Kenny. There wasn't a trace of him.
I felt my heart pounding out of my chest and tears well up in my eyes. I always imagined if something like this were to happen, I would totally kick ass. Instead I couldn't stop shaking let alone will myself to move.
"I don't know what you're talking about." The man swore under his breath.
"I gave you a chance." I closed my eyes before hearing a loud noise. I squinted my eyes open in time to see the man falling towards me. I jumped out of the way and seen Kenny standing behind him. He grabbed my arm and pulled me towards his garage.
"I'm sorry about this, Kyle." He said evenly, too calm for the situation.
"What's going on? Who is that guy?" Kenny just dragged me along and pushed me into the passenger side door. I heard the engine roar to life and looked behind me out of habit to make sure there was nothing behind Kenny. I gasped when I seen two more masked guys running towards the car.
"Close your eyes." I heard Kenny say and felt the car shoot backwards. I didn't hesitate to follow his directions as I felt the car smack into something. I felt like throwing up and screaming all at the same time. A heard the tires screeching against the pavement as we flew onto the road near his house. I opened my eyes as I felt the car lurch to the side as Kenny easily avoided hitting an oncoming car.
I looked in the rearview window in time to see a Dominos car swerve farther away from us before pulling into Kenny's house. I leaned my head against the seat and tried to catch my breath. I couldn't keep up with where Kenny was taking us, and frankly didn't care as long as we were out of that madness.
"Do you want me to call the police?" I asked, my voice still sounding strangled. Kenny shook his head and frowned. I looked over to him quickly. "That guy could have killed you! Who the hell was he?" I tried to sound demanding, but it came out sounding every bit as afraid and confused as I was.
"The bad guys" He said softly.
Cool. I am pretty happy with the way this turned out so far. I am excited to get further into this and hope you guys feel the same way.
