I watched Kenny relax more as we got farther away from South Park. He had been very cryptic in any answers he gave. So far I had gathered- nothing. He gave me a bunch of meaningless words. I figured there was no use continuing to push the issue until he was ready to talk. If he had managed to keep all of this a secret for this long, he wouldn't be quick to give it up.

I leaned my head against the seat and sighed quietly. My heart was finally starting to slow down, but the more my body calmed down, the more wild my thoughts began to run.

There were always rumors going on about Kenny and his private life. His parents had been arrested a few times for making, selling and using drugs. His brother had also been in and out of jail for similar activities. Karen, his younger sister, seemed to be the only one free of speculation. She pretty much lived with her friends these days. She was a smart and well behaved girl. And then there was Kenny.

I looked over to him shortly. He was always seemingly laid back. He was not the center of attention, but everyone thought they knew everything there was to know about him. In reality, no one knew anything for sure because he never had anyone close to him. Hell, the closest person to him was usually Cartman. No doubt he kept Eric as close as he did because Eric wouldn't realize the truth even if it was punching him in his fat face.

"Kyle?" I jumped upon hearing my name. Kenny laughed a bit as he switched the car off. I only noticed we had pulled into a parking lot near a movie theater. I looked around us and frowned. Of all of the locations to go to, this one didn't make much sense to me.

"Kenny, I'm really not up for seeing a movie right now." The look on his face made me realize I said something dumb. He put his head in his hands and began laughing at my expense. I couldn't help but laugh a bit too, even if I was embarrassed and confused.

"Oh, darn. And here I was thinking I'd finally be able to see the new Twilight movie. I guess I will have to continue reading fanfiction to get my fix until someone will take me." He sighed dramatically.

"Ok, smart ass." It seemed like now was the best time to try to get any answers out of him, "What is going on?" Kenny took a deep breath and looked out the window for a few seconds.

"Those guys won't come after us in public. I doubt they were able to follow us, but if they did it is better to be in a place like this. Hide in plain sight, you know?" I frowned and nodded, even though I had no real clue what he was talking about.

"I haven't seen this happen since your days being Mysterion." Kenny nodded.

"Old habits die hard." He laughed a bit.

"Damn it, Kenny." I gasped. "What now?"

"I found out some dumb asses decided it would be a great idea to start selling shit in South Park. This town is already full of idiots, not a good idea to combine that with drugs." He seemed satisfied letting that be his answer. I pushed him again for more details.

"How does this lead to what happened tonight?" Kenny frowned, but continued talking.

"I found out where they were keeping most of their supply. So I burned the place down. No one would miss it. It was an old abandoned store front that hadn't been used since it was still cool to have an afro." My mouth dropped.

"You caught a building on fire that you knew was being operated by dangerous people?" Kenny nodded.

"In my defense, I didn't think they were that dangerous. They started out selling less serious stuff. Hell, your brother even bought from them. Kid friendly." He laughed again.

"How could you! Why didn't you tell me?" He continued laughing, somehow amused by my irritation.

"Relax, it's not a big deal" I reached my hand out to back hand him but he caught my arm easily. "Calm down, I put a good scare in him for you. He'll be a perfect little saint for you."

"Let me go." I tried to pull my arm free. Kenny pulled my arm so I fell on top of him. He put his other hand on my head.

"Don't you want me to tell you what happened, or what?" I sat up quickly and sighed loudly. "I don't want this in our lives anymore than you do." I calmed down, realizing he was making a point by mentioning Ike.

"Why didn't you just tell the police or something? Why did you have to do this on your own?" I shook my head. He was too reckless.

"There were too many people who would have been hurt if a full investigation was launched. Good people would have gotten in trouble trying to defend others."

"I thought it was over." He continued after a few moments passed. "I figured they got the message and left. It was a clear warning that they had been found out. As much as I would have liked to watch the scum bags go down, they got a second chance too so that the ones who deserved it could get off free."

"Then they showed up tonight." I finished for him. Kenny nodded.

"I wouldn't be worried for half a second on normal occasions. But there is a big problem now, something I had not counted on."

"What's that?" I was confused. What trouble could he not have expected after burning down a drug factory?

"They seen you." I put my head down feeling guilty.

"I can take care of myself." I stated indignantly.

"I'm sure you can." Kenny said softly, the seemingly simple statement seemed to bother him a lot. He glanced at the theater and smiled.

"Let's stop in really quick and grab something to eat. I'm starving." I was happy for the excuse to end the conversation. There was a lot still left to be established, but the idea of spending normal time with Kenny was nice. Like a break from the craziness.

"Yeah, that sounds great." Kenny pushed the door open and slid out, stretching a bit before walking towards the door. "Oh." He reached in his pocket and grabbed my phone and tossed it at me.

"Thanks." I said, scrambling to regain my composure after nearly dropping it.

We got in the theater and seen a pretty large group of people still inside. I checked the time on my phone and seen it was only around ten. It felt much later.

"I am going to run to the bathroom really quick. Order whatever you want." Kenny said, slipping a few crumpled dollars into my hand. "Get me some pretzel M&Ms too."

"Gross, dude!" He laughed and disappeared into the crowd. I waited in line for a few minutes and picked some candy for the both of us. I waited on a bench in clear sight so that Kenny could find me easily. I opened my candy while waiting for him.

After about ten minutes and no sign of Kenny, I decided to look for him. I walked past a few people in the bathroom but seen no one in any of the stalls.

"Kenny?" I called out. No response. I frowned and walked back out, I could have missed him when I was walking in. I heard my phone chime and grabbed it out of my pocket.

"Your mom is on the way to pick you up. I'm sorry." The text message read. I tried calling Kenny at least ten times, but it went straight to voicemail.

I seen my mom's car pull up and walked out towards her.

"Hey, honey!" She waved frantically to me and called loudly like she was afraid I wouldn't see her. I laughed a bit and slid into the car. She did the same thing since I was a kid. I left a message for Kenny, feeling a sinking feeling growing in my stomach.

The night passed in a series of nightmares and restless sleep. I woke up early and waited in the hallway outside Kenny's locker until first period's bell sounded. I pushed past a crowd of students and snuck out the doors.

I tried calling him again and again as I made my way to his house. I pushed open the door to find the house completely empty. I checked every room thoroughly before sitting on the edge of his bed, burying my head in my hands and fighting back tears. This couldn't be the end of him.
