I'm writing this on my phone so I apologize for the errors I am going to make.
When Bolin finally entered the building, he never expected it to be, well, so dusty. Really, it was only a few weeks since he was here, maybe this part of the build wasn't used like the rest.
"This place looks old," Jinora said, looking around.
"yeah, maybe we are in the wrong place," Bolin asked, turning to face Verrick. Verrick shook his head.
"No, this is the place, I'm sure," Verrick said, nodding his head slowly. Dispite all of the horrible thing his brother and friends say Verrick did, Bolin trusted him. After all, he was always in Mako and Korra's shadow, but with the help of Verrick, he became one of Republics cities biggest stars.
Bolin walked down a seemingly endless hall, looking around. The doors were closed, or partically open. Inside each room was different science tools. It looked like a normal research lab. Huh.
"Why is it so dusty?" Jinora asked, coughing and swatting the air. Bolin shrugged.
"Maybe they didn't use this part," Bolin suggested, fighting down coughs himself.
They walked somberly down the hall, no one finding words to say. Bolin was replaying in his head want happened to him in this very building. This is were he merged with Ben Dan. This is where he emerged from the shadows. Sad really.
Bolin was suprised when Verrick and Juile, who were walking in front of them, turned sharply to the left. Bolin turn to Jinora, then walked ahead. This hall was cleaner, by far. The smell of bleach flooded Bolin's nose as the continued to walk. He liked the smell of bleach, it reminded him of the arena.
"I never told Mako where we were going. I was worried he might stop me," Bolin whispered softly into Jinora's ear. She turned to him and said, "I figured, this was something you needed to do."
Bolin wasn't sure Why he told her, but he did.
You are unsure of this, are you not? Ben Dan asked, still trying to get Bolin to turn back. Bolin wanted to do this, though. He didn't care if Ben Dan could no longer take control of him, he was a pain and Bolin wanted him out.
No, I want this, Bolin answered. He was slowly learning how to talk to the voice inside of his head wothout getting any strange looks from those around him. Especially Jinora, he didn't want to scare her off.
Do you really want me gone. I gave you so much power. If you get rid of me, you will go back to how you were before, a nobody.
"I want you out!" Bolin growled, causing Jinora, Verrick and a few guards to turn and look at Bolin.
"Who do want out?" Jinora asked. A few guards shifted akwardly on their feet.
"No one, sorry," Bolin answered, he face heating up, turning an almost crimson red. The other shook their heads and walked on, dismissing Bolin and semi-crazy, but not Jinora, nor Verrick for that matter. Where Jinora looked at Bolin with almost a worried look, Verrick looked at Bolin with a look of hunger in his eyes, causing Bolin's heart to speed up the slightest amount.
There was something off with Verrick, Bolin could feel it, he could feel Verrick's eyes trained on Bolin when he thought Bolin wasn't looking. In a way, it unnerved Bolin, he didn't like it, but Verrick never gave Bolin any reasons to distrust him. At least not yet.
We're close, Ben Dan hissed inside of Bolin's head. This time, Bolin could feel it too. There was something ahead that almost radiated power, drawing him to it like a moth to flame. It worried Bolin. Whatever it is, it wasn't friendly. That didn't, as much as Bolin wanted it to, stop him from positly shaking with anticpation.
The group entered a room that which Bolin reconized as the room he was experimented on. His heart was no beating so loudly he could hear it in his ears. In fact, it was the only thing he could hear. His heart was going to jump out of his chest any minute now.
Bolin could see Verrick talking, his lips were moving, but no sound came out, at least as far as Bolin could tell. He could see the othera nodding, looking somber as Julie grasped the handle to a large, metal door that Bolin would be suprised if she was able to get it open.
She did, though, with only the slightest almost of problem. A blast of cold air shot out, chilling Bolin to the bone.
"Bolin?" Verrick asked stepping forward. Bolin looked up, his arms wrapped around himself in an effort to stay warm.
"Yes, Verrick?" Bolin replied, trying his best not to allow his teeth to knock together. The were chattering from cold and nerves, and Bolin was worried that they were soon to bite off his tounge.
"You should be the first to look inside," Verrick said, looking at Julie, who moved aside, allowing Bolin to walk forward, take a deep breath and gazed at whatever was inside.
The first thing Bolin notice was how cold it was and the ice formed from the frozen water in the air, covering ever avilible space in the small ice box. He then, Bolin was still unsure how this wasn't the first thing he saw, was a gaint, blue, frozen, carcuss of a dragon. The be more exact, the corpse of the last lighting dragon in existence.
Ben Dan.
"Is that you," Bolin asked, his voice barely a whisper, unable to be heard by anyone near him.
Yes, Ben Dan replied, his voice full of awe, but a little bit of worry and shock mixed in as well. Bolin breifly wondered what it would be like to see your dead body. Not very pleasant, he imagined.
The body was large, whoever put it here had to almost curl it in a position that looked unnatural, the back bending in ways that were positivly bone-breaking. The scales were a light, eletrifing blue that almost seemed to glow. Bolin was suprised about how beautiful Ben Dan was in life.
Now, though, Ben Dan was just a broken soul in his head.
"What are we going to do with it?" Bolin turned and asked Verrick.
"We need blood samples, you know, to help us find a cure for you. And make sure it never happens again."
We need to leave, Bolin, please. I don't want to watch them take apart my body, please, Ben Dan pleaded. Bolin nodded, he didn't think he wanted to watch it either.
As he walked out, Bolin heard Jinora following.
"Where are you going?" she asked.
"Just to get some air," Bolin replied. Jinora started out to the ocean, visible from the outside. The sun was just setting, causing the sea to reflect the sun as it set and the clouds, bathed in orange, purple and pink. It was beautiful.
"I always liked sunsets on the sea," Jinora said, not taking her eyes off the sun as it began to disapear, inch by inch. Joking didn't speak just nodded. There were some silences you don't break.
