Author's Note- This won't be daily. Release will be random
On a dark green planet there were a vast array of tunnels built into massive piles of junk. In one of these tunnels a very strange looking female Pronghorn with one arm larger than the other led a female chipmunk to a platform. Next to the platform was an old looking rabbit with one black ear and both his feet were left feet. The chipmunk looked scared "Will it be me, Uncle?" "Yes, it's going to be you. I only wish I could go in your place, Idris". Uncle laughed "Nah, I don't actually, cos it's really going to hurt". A Mecha Sonic with glowing green eyes came up behind Idris and moved her to the platform. She gasped "It's starting. What will happen?". The Pronghorn stepped forward "Oh. Um, Nephew here…". She gestured to the Mecha "Will drain your mind and your soul from your body and leave it empty". Nephew put his clawed hands around her head "I'm scared" "I expect so, dear. But soon you'll have a new soul".
Knuckles was standing in front of the Master Emerald with his arms crossed. Amy was standing in front of him trying to convince him of something as Sonic impatiently leant against the Master Emerald. Amy spoke "Come on, Knux. It'll be fun" "I've left too many times recently, Amy. I'm not leaving". Sonic rolled his eyes "You've left on missions. You need to relax for once" "Get off the Master Emerald". Suddenly there was a knocking sound coming from the Master Emerald. Sonic backed away "I swear that wasn't me". They all stared at it "You heard that too, right?" Sonic said. Knuckles stared at the Emerald curiously, "Is it maybe Tikal?" Amy asked. Knuckles shook his head "Tikal and Chaos are at the Chao Garden on the other side of the island". There was a flash and a letter appeared in Knuckles' hand. "What is it?" Sonic asked. Knuckled stared at what was in his hand "I've… got mail". He opened it and it was covered in symbols that Sonic and Amy didn't understand. Knuckles seemed to and his eyes widened as he read it. Sonic noticed "What? What's it say". Knuckles grinned "There's another Echidna out there". Sonic and Amy looked at each other "What?". Knuckles showed them the letter "These symbols were the ancient language of my clan. And look". He pointed at a snake symbol at the bottom of the letter "That is a tattoo that one of the clan's families had" "But if any echidnas left Angel Island we would know. They wouldn't stay hidden" Amy said. Knuckles ran up to the Master Emerald "They're not on Mobius. There in a pocket dimension. And I could use the energy left on the letter to find which one". He put his hand on the Master Emerald ready to go when Sonic and Amy did the same. Sonic smirked "You're not going alone, buddy". Knuckles nodded and closed his eyes. The Master Emerald starting pulsing before *BANG* a flash of light, the Master Emerald and our trio were gone.
They reappeared in a small clearing on the dark planet. There were piles of junk around them. Amy was shaking "Let's never do that again". Sonic looked around "Where are we? What'd you mean by pocket dimension" "There's tons of them that the emeralds are connected to. It's like Null Space with Infinite. Usually we can't get to them". He held out the letter "But with this I had a trace". Knuckles looked smug but then the Master Emerald staring pulsing again "Uh, is that supposed to happen?" Amy asked. It's light died and it turned black. Knuckles ran up to and placed his hand on it but nothing happened "Knux, what is it?" Sonic asked. Knuckled stepped back "It's draining. All the energy is gone. That's impossible. Where could it all go?".
On the platform Idris' dead body lied still when it suddenly shot up gasping. Her mouth opened wide and a strange aura entered her body. Her eyes flashed and she smiled. She looked down at her hands amazed as Aunt and Uncle watched her.
Sonic and Amy were looking around the junk "What is all this stuff?" "Sometimes things fall into the pockets" Knuckles answered bluntly still staring at the Master Emerald. Suddenly "Thief! Thief! You're my Thief!". Idris suddenly ran out of the tunnel entrance with Aunt and Uncle chasing after her "She's dangerous! Guard yourselves". Idris ran up to Knuckles "Look at you! Goodbye! No, wait, that's not what they say". She suddenly kissed him and then backed away laughing. Knuckles was wondering what just happened when Uncle got between them "Welcome, strangers. Sorry about the mad person". Knuckles stared at Idris "Why am I a thief. What've I stolen?" "You stole me". Auntie sighed "We are so sorry, my doves. She's off her head". Idris went up to a nervous Amy and started playing with her quills. Auntie and Uncle shook Knuckles' hand "I'm Auntie" "I'm Uncle. I'm everybody's uncle. Just keep back from this one, she bites!". Idris tilted her head "Do I?". She ran back to Knuckles and bit his neck "OW!" Knuckles threw her off. She got right back up unhurt "Oh, biting's excellent. It's like kissing, only there's a winner". Uncle pulled her back "Sorry, she's a bit nuts" "No I'm not. I'm… I'm... I just had a new idea about kissing. Come here, you". She went for Knuckles who ran behind Sonic and Amy. Idris stopped and looked sorrowful "Don't look". Knuckles didn't understand "Don't look for what" "Don't look for the letters. This body's seen them. The letter's will make you angry".
Knuckles stepped closer "What? Letters?". Idris laughed "You're head is very funny looking". Auntie took her hand "Idris, I think you should rest" "Oh, yes, yes. I'll just see if there's an off switch" she collapsed. Knuckles caught her. Uncle half heartedly sighed "Is that it? Is she dead now. Oh, so sad" "She still breathing". Uncle rolled his eyes "Nephew, take her somewhere she can not bite people". Sonic looked where they were speaking and saw Mecha "Whoa!". He was about to fight it but Knuckles stopped him. He recognised this Mecha, it was the same one he fought on Angel Island. Auntie stepped forward "He came through a while ago. House repaired him. House repaired all of us". A voice came from Mecha "Please help me" "I'm still alive" "I don't know where I am" "Something happened on Angel Island". Knuckles looked around and then back to Aunt and Uncle "Who else is here?" "It's just what you see. It's just the four of us and House. Nephew, will you take Idris somewhere safe". Nephew nodded and picked up Idris taking her back into the tunnels. Knuckles narrowed his eyes "What's House" "House is all around us, my sweets. Would you like to meet him?". Uncle laughed "This way. Come, please". The trio followed them "I don't think they're all here" Sonic joked. Amy was watching Knuckles "What were those voices? Knuckles?" "Echidnas. Echidnas who escaped Angel Island when Chaos attacked".
Idris was lying in a cell "I'm… I'm… A big word, a sad word. Why is that word so sad?". She leaped up and grabbed the cell door "Thief! Where's my Thief? Thief!".
The trio were brought to a room with a vent on the floor that had glowing green smoke coming out of it "You can see the House and he can look at you and…" she just stopped talking. The three of them looked down the vent "The planet's alive?" Sonic asked. Auntie nodded "We walk on his back, breath his air. Eat his food" "AND DO MY WILL" a booming voice came from Auntie and Uncle. The trio backed away from them as they spoke "YOU ARE MOST WELCOME, TRAVELLERS. MANY TRAVELLERS HAVE COME THROUGH HERE, LIKE AUNTIE AND UNCLE AND NEPHEW. I REPAIR THEM WHEN THEY BREAK". Knuckles stepped forward "So have any echidnas come through here?" "NOT ANYMORE, SO MANY BROUGHT ELEMENTS OF CHAOS. SHARDS. DRIVES. SO MANY STILL REST UPON MY BACK. ECHIDNAS UNDERSTAND THEM MORE THAN ANYONE". Knuckles shrugged "Won't be anymore. There aren't anymore echidnas too bring things through" "A PITY. YOUR PEOPLE WERE SO KIND. BE HERE IN SAFETY, KNUCKLES. REST, FEED, IF YOU WILL". Auntie and Uncle returned to normal. Sonic shrugged "Yeah. I'm not staying on this planet any longer than I have to. It's very boring". Knuckles ignored him "Can I have a look around" "Of course. Look, all you want". Auntie cupped his face "House loves you". The three left the room and got out of ear shot "Go back to the Master Emerald". Sonic and Amy raised their eyebrows "You're not getting rid of us that easily" "I have to do this on my own" "Why?". Knuckles sighed "Because… I just have to. I need to find them". Sonic saw the look in his eyes "Okay, bud" "Try not to lose your temper" Amy said.
Outside a green smoke began to envelop the Master Emerald. It disappeared and the Emerald glowed just as Amy and Sonic arrived "Sonic, look, it's back up again". They got close "Good, I wanna go somewhere more exciting". The emerald glowed brighter. Sonic and Amy cautiously backed away and there was a bright flash. Amy and Sonic were gone.
Knuckles was wondering through the tunnels "Where are you?". He reached a small stop where there were eight ways to go. Above them were signs "Kitchen" "Washroom" "Mailroom". Knuckles guessed that was the best bet and went down to the Mailroom. He found a large door. He slowly opened it and discovered a table covered in pieces of paper. He looked through the pile, they were all letters to different echidnas asking for help. They were signed by different symbols of different families within the clan. Knuckles started to scowl as he realised Auntie and Uncle were behind him "I really thought I'd find them here. But that's what you wanted. You sent a letter from the long dead". He turned around "How many echidnas have you led here before me. And what did you do to them". Auntie looked afraid "House is kind and he is wise" "House repairs you when you break, I know!" Knuckles spat. He got closer "And how is he repairing you". He looked at Uncle "Your ears don't match. Your left arm is longer than your right. And you have two left feet". He turned to Auntie who was hiding her left arm. Knuckles pulled it out revealing it has an echidna spiked hand and had a snake tattoo on the wrist "You've been repaired with parts of other people". Auntie casually nodded "This arm's done good for me. He was a strong lad, wasn't he, uncle? I got the arm and then Uncle got the spine and the kidneys". Knuckles clenched his fists and breathed heavily "You gave me hope and then you took it away. That's a dangerous move. Run… RUN!". They left the room and he heard Uncle laughing "Poor little Echidna. Too late! House is too clever".
Knuckles ran into the cell room where Idris was waiting sitting on the floor "How did you know I would care about the letters" "Ah, it's my thief" "Who are you?". She smiled "It's about time" "Who are you?". She tilted her head "Do you not know me? Just because they put me in here?" "They said you were dangerous" "Not the cage, stupid. In here". She toughed her face "They put me in here. I'm the… Oh, what do you call me?". She tried to think "I'm green. I glow. I have this beautiful shrine I sit on". Knuckles sceptically smirked "The Master Emerald?" "Yes, that's it. Names are funny. It's me! I'm the Master Emerald". Knuckles rolled his eyes "No you're not. You're a crazy chipmunk who bites people. The Master Emerald is outside". He turned to leave but "I remember the first time you saw me". She smiled "You were so young. Your parents finally brought you up to the shrine". Knuckles stopped but kept his back to her "You put your hand on me and said-" "I said you were the most beautiful thing I had ever seen" he was amazed. She nodded "And then you stole me. And I stole you". Knuckles was broke out of his trance "I didn't steal you. I'm your guardian. I protect you". She laughed "You weren't supposed to protect me. Your parents told you on the night they died to break me apart and scatter me across the world so that nobody would ever get me. You were supposed to keep only one piece of me on Angel Island to protect". Knuckles turned around "I was going to" "After so long? I doubt it. What makes you think I would ever leave you". Knuckles narrowed his eyes "You're the Master Emerald?" "Yes. Now, if you would be so kind. Please open the lock". Knuckles slowly stepped forward and broke open the lock with his bare hands. Idris stepped out and the two circled one another. Idris suddenly groaned "Oh, what is that word. It's so big and so complicated. It's so sad" "Why? Why would someone take your mind out and put it into a Mobian? What does it want you for". She shook her head "It doesn't want me. House feeds on Chaos Energy and I'm an all you can eat buffet. He put my consciousness in this body so there was nothing stopping him from taking the shell and all the energy inside". Knuckles' eyes widened "Sonic and Amy are standing right next to it". Knuckles ran outside towards the Master Emerald shell when there was suddenly a flash. The Master Emerald was gone "Sonic! Amy!".
Sonic and Amy woke up in what looked to be the old Echidna Temple on Angel Island "What the?" "How did we get here". Torches were illuminating the room except the flames were green. They heard a voice "OH, THIS IS A FUN ADVENTURE. I SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS HALF A MILLION YEARS AGO. SO, AMY, SONIC, WHY SHOULDN'T I JUST KILL YOU NOW?".
Knuckles returned to the cell room "It's gone" "Eaten?" "No, it left. Hijacked! I didn't see Sonic or Amy". Idris tried to think "They are inside" "What?" "Inside the shell. Like Tikal and Chaos were". Auntie and Uncle came in "It's time for us both to go and keep together" "Where are you going?" Knuckles asked. Auntie shrugged "Well, we're dying, my love. It's time for Auntie and Uncle to pop off". Uncle nodded "I'm against it" "It's your fault, isn't it, sweets? You told House you were the last echidna. No one else knows about our little part of the Multiverse. He can't feed on any more Chaos energy if none more is coming". Uncle wrapped himself in a blanket "So now he's off to your universe to find all he can". Auntie suddenly fell over dead as Uncle stood up "Actually, I feel fine" he then fell over as well. Knuckles tried to help them as Idris stayed calm "We need to go to where I landed, Knuckles. Quickly" "Why?" "Because it has what we need". She stood up and held her stomach "Ow! How long do these bodies last" "What's wrong" "I'm dying. I don't belong in a flesh body. I could blow the casing in no time". She noticed Knuckles looked worried "No, stop it, don't get emotional. Focus" "On what? I'm stuck on a damn junkyard at the end of the universe!". He realised "Oh" "What?" "It's a junkyard full of pieces of Chaos. Come on!". He was about to leave but then turned back to Idris "Oh, sorry, do you have a name" "17 years, finally he asks" "What do I call you?" "What was that word you called the Bat… Sexy?". Knuckles eyes widened and looked back making sure no one heard that "One time. And I'm not calling you that. Something else" "Uh, Me. Call me Me".
Sonic and Amy were looking around the large stone room trying to find the origins of the voice "I HAVE SO MUCH TO LEARN ABOUT MY NEW HOME. BUT YOU HAVEN'T ANSWERED MY QUESTION, CHILDREN. TELL ME WHY I SHOULDN'T JUST KILL YOU BOTH NOW?". Amy gulped "Well, because… Sonic, why?". Sonic stayed his confident self "Well, what's the fun in that? You look like a guy who wants to be entertained. That's what Auntie and Uncle were for, wasn't it? Someone to make suffer". There was a pause and then "SO ENTERTAIN ME. RUN". They both quickly legged it out of the room through the vast caverns of the temple.
Knuckles and Me climbed to the top of a large junk pile and looked down at glowing lights in a valley in front of them "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" "There's still such little traces in all of them. Together… Maybe it'll be enough".
Sonic and Amy were now somehow in the Labyrinth "SO ARE WE HAVING FUN YET? I'M RATHER ENJOYING THE SENSATION OF HAVING YOU RUNNING AROUND INSDIE ME". They turned a corner and were now in Station Square on the room of a building "THAT FALL WILL KILL YOU SO DO BE CAREFUL".
Knuckles and Me were collecting all the shards and drives they could possibly find "You know what they look like, right?" "Yes, I know what they look like thanks" Knuckles replied frustrated. Me shrugged "You're not very responsible when it comes to this" "What?" "How many times have I broken at this point". Knuckles sighed "I'm the Guardian. It's my job to protect you. I can do it how I want" "I can do what I want. Do you have any idea how childish that sounds?". Knuckles rolled his eyes and walked away "You are not my mother!" "And you are not my child". Knuckles turned back "And you know what, since we're talking I just want to say you were never reliable". She looked insulted "Like when" "When the Death Egg crashed you just dropped the entire island into the ocean. You didn't need to do that. You weren't damaged?" "It wasn't about what I needed. It was about what you needed. Friends". Knuckles paused and realised what she meant "You… You did it because…". He laughed making Me tilt her head "What're you laughing at" "We're talking. I'm talking to you. Wouldn't it be amazing if we could always talk?". She shook her head "I'm an emerald. I don't talk. You talk and punch and fight that bat over me". She suddenly fell and Knuckles caught her "You okay?" "One of the kidneys has already failed. It doesn't matter. We need to finish gathering enough energy".
Sonic and Amy were now in the Ark. Sonic passed a pair of open doors which closed behind him "No!" Amy yelled before she could get through. Sonic hit the doors trying to force them open "Amy? Amy, you okay?" "Sonic!" he heard behind him. Sonic slowly turned around and followed the hall until he turned left and found Amy leaning against the wall with her face in her hands "Amy?". She got up looking scared and ran up to him "Where have you been?" "How did you do that. The doors are back there". Amy looked close to tears "You've gone for hours" "What? No, I haven't. It's House. He's messing with the Master Emerald". He took her hand "Come on". They started running again, they found themselves inside the Death Egg and another pair of doors closed separating them "No!"
Me was picking out a few shards from a pile "Do you ever wonder why I chose you all those years ago?" "I was the only one you could chose. I'm an only child" "I could have still denied you. Refused to work. But you were so lonely". Knuckles dropped another handful onto the pile "There. That's enough. What could possibly go wrong?".
Sonic was cautiously searching the Death Egg when "Sonic". He turned around, crouched down in the corner was a crying elderly pink hedgehog "Oh, Gaia. Amy" "It won't let me starve. So many years because you left. But why wouldn't you? You ignored me all the time of course you'd just leave me here". Sonic kneeled down and stared horrified at her. Her fur was mostly grey, her clothes were old and tattered. Her quills had all fallen out "I trusted you". Sonic reached out for her "Amy, I didn't leave you. I'm here". Amy screamed and grabbed his throat. Sonic broke free and crawled backwards. Amy lied on the floor watching him "Every night they come for me. They laugh and hurt me. How could you!?". Sonic backed away as Amy got to her feet "HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO ME!?". Sonic backed through another pair of doors which separated them.
Knuckles kneeled down and put his hand on the pile "Okay, let's go". He closed his eyes and all the shards glowed but then stopped "Aw, come on!" "What is it?" "There's not enough power. We've gotten every shard here and still nothing!". Me smiled "Oh, you beautiful idiot. You have what you've always had. You've got me". She kisser her hand which began to glow green. She then touched the pile and they glowed brighter. It flashed and disappeared taking them with it.
Sonic kept searching the Death Egg and turns a corner. To his horror there was writing all over the walls "Hate Sonic" "Hurt Sonic" "Kill Sonic" "Die Sonic". On the floor leaning against the wall was a skeleton with ragged pink clothes. Sonic fell to his knees "No. No!". He rested his head on her shoulder and he cried "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry" "Sonic?". Sonic looked up and turned to see Amy, alive and well staring at him concerned "Are you okay?". Sonic looked back at the wall, the body was gone as was the writing. Sonic got up and hugged Amy who surprised hugged him back. Sonic stepped back clearing his throat "I- I think this place is messing with our head" he put on a brave face. Amy could tell something was wrong but didn't push it "Come on". The two kept running until Sonic started to get a head ache and saw Me inside his head "Hello. Good. I've still got a small connection to the Emerald. Listen. I'm sending you to the safe room where we will appear. Get there. Tikal used it when Chaos was still angry. I'll give you the passkey". Sonic shook his head gaining his senses "I know where to go". Amy looked concerned "What happened?" "It was that crazy lady. She was talking to me". He led Amy and every turn he reached he knew exactly where to go. Amy stopped and froze in place. Sonic stared at her wondering what she was doing "Ames, come on" "What happened to the lights?". All Amy could see was pitch black "Amy, the lights are fine" Sonic said. He turned around and noticed a light coming from a corridor on the right "Stay here". Amy didn't want to be alone and tried to follow his voice "Don't leave me" "AH!". Amy jumped back "Sonic? Sonic!" "I'm fine" a strangely calm voice replied "Follow my voice". Amy reached out trying to find something "Sonic, what happened?" "I just hit my head. Keep coming".
She reached out as far as she could and felt something cold and metal. Her eye sight returned and Nephew was standing in front of her. Sonic appeared and pulled her back. They were both ready to fight but Nephew suddenly turned a Golden Super colour "Run!". They kept going until reaching a silver door "This is where she said to go. She said something about a passkey". His head hurt again "Crimson. Eleven. Delight. That last one means the smell of dust after rain". Sonic repeated it out loud "What do we say it? Uh, crimson. Eleven. Delight. Petrichor" nothing happened. Sonic tried to force it open as Amy thought "Wait. She told you what it meant. If you had to say it you wouldn't need to know. Maybe you're supposed to imagine it". They both saw Nephew coming at the end of the corridor. Amy closed her eyes and tried to think "Crimson. Eleven. Delight. The smell of dust after rain". She imagined it "Crimson" a red flag. "Eleven" an eleventh birthday cake. "Delight" first meeting Sonic at Palmtree Panic. "The smell of dust after rain" watering plants at her home. She kept repeating it until the doors finally opened. The two ran through, they were back on Angel Island at the Master Emerald shrine. They heard House "HOW DID YOU FIND THIS PLACE? I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THIS WAS HERE. I HAD HOPED YOU TWO COULD JOIN NEPHEW AS MY SERVENTS. BUT YOU ARE BOTH NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. NEPHEW, KILL THEM". Nephew appeared through the door and approached. Despite Nephew being in super form Sonic and Amy got ready to fight to the bitter end.
Sonic's head hurt again "Move out of the way when we land. If you don't we'll be atomised" "Where are you landing?" "I don't know". Sonic rolled his eyes "Oh, great, thanks". There was a bright flash. Knuckles, Me and the pile of shards appeared in front of them. Sonic laughed and gave Knuckles a fist bump "Good to see you, man". Amy hugged him. Me took deep breaths "Not good. Not good at all. How do you walk around in these things". Knuckles helped her sit down and turned to the others "Uh, guys, this… She's the Master Emerald. Except she's a woman. She's a woman and the Master Emerald" he said awkwardly. Amy narrowed her eyes and pointed at her "She's the Master Emerald?" "Did you wish really hard?" Sonic added. Knuckles frowned "Shut up! Not like that". Me got back to her feet "Hello. I'm… Me" "ENVIRONMENT HAS BEEN BREACHED. NEPHEW, KILL THEM ALL". Sonic then realised "Wait, where is Nephew? He was standing right where you guys appeared". Me nodded "He was probably been redistributed" "Meaning?" "We're breathing him". Amy looked disgusted and covered her mouth and nose. Knuckles looked up at the sky as House spoke "ECHIDNA, I DID NOT EXPECT YOU. THE BIG QUESTION NOW IS HOW TO DISPOSE OF YOU? I CONTROL THIS LITTLE WORLD. I COULD PLAY WITH THE GRAVITY". Everyone was suddenly pushed down feeling like they were about to be crushed. It stopped "I COULD REMOVE THE AIR AND WATCH YOU CHOKE". Everyone started to suffocate "You really don't want to do that!" Knuckles yelled. The air returned "WHY NOT?" "Because we're the trace you need to find our universe. The one with the food in it. Without us you won't ever find it". Amy realised Me was still lying on the floor and went over to help her. Knuckles heard her "Hang in there, old girl. Not long now". Knuckles looked back at the sky "We'll help you get there if you give your word you won't kill us" "YOU WANT ME TO GIVE MY WORD? EASY. I PROMISE". Sonic grabbed Knuckles' arm "You can't help him" "Trust me. House, just the three of us are radiating the energy you need. Follow the scent". A small aura surrounded them and then disappeared "WHY WOULD YOU HELP ME?" "Because we want to get back to our universe as badly as you do. and I'm nice" "YES. AND NOW THAT I HAVE THE SCENT I CAN RID MYSELF OF VERMIN. THANK YOU, KNUCKLES. VERY HELPFUL. GOODBYE". There was a bright flash destroying the safe room.
Inside the centre of the Emerald's world in the echidna temple the four of them appeared. Knuckles laughed "It's called a safe room for a reason. Anything alive in there gets sent back to the centre if it gets destroyed. But thanks for lift". House laughed "I AM IN YOUR UNIVERSE NOW, ECHIDNA. WHY SHOULD IT MATTER TO ME WHERE YOU DIE. I CAN KILL YOU JUST AS EASILY HERE AS ANYWHERE. FEAR ME. I'VE KILLED HUNDREDS OF ECHIDNAS". Knuckles looked up fearlessly "Fear me. I'm the one that survived". Knuckles smirked "But in the end you're right. You've completely won. You could kill us easily. But before you do". He grabbed Sonic and Amy and made them stand next to him "Allow me and my friends to congratulate you on being an absolutely worthy opponent". Knuckles started clapping. Sonic and Amy looked confused but did it anyway "Congratulations" "Good job, sir". Knuckles seemed to be waiting for something "Not just us but you beat the Master Emerald herself. Right here.
