Bonds of love

Chapter 1: Unrecognizable

Kurt Hummel-Anderson and Quinn Puckerman stood by Quinn's husband, Noah Puckerman, as he lay motionless in a hospital bed, looking unrecognizable. Noah had been MIA for six months when he was found naked and chained between two pillars with blood all over him. His unit had also been found in the same way, but obviously, they had died. Noah was the only one left alive out of fifty men. Nobody could understand how or why. According to the medical examiner, the others died within a week of being captured after suffering the same torture he did. Yet Noah was much larger than them, and he was still alive after six months.

As Kurt and Quinn stared at Noah. Burt Hummel came into the room holding his granddaughter, Liza Marie Anderson. When Liza Marie saw Noah, everyone noticed them clenching their fists. Then Liza Marie looked at Kurt before saying, "I can't believe I had to call General Young to get you two to believe me! I told you he was alive this whole fucking time! Look at him! Look at all those scars! I told you he was being whipped like Jesus! But you wouldn't listen to me! One man out of fifty survived that hell, and you two think he's not like the Hulk! How else do you fucking explain why he is alive? Or the others are dead."

Then Burt puts Liza Marie on Noah's chest as she continues, saying, "I told you Nono was being hurt by bad men who were putting their winkies in his butt! I told you it wasn't a goddamn nightmare! I told you about them trying to break his legs and about him trying to do what Samson did several times! I was afraid to sleep because I would hear him screaming—no, until he couldn't scream anymore! He was bleeding so bad that the blood was running down into his eyes! The bad men had to cut his throat to get him to stop screaming the day before he was rescued! He finally brought the building down the day he was found! I told you all this so many times! I lost my fucking count! I had to tell General Young the numbers of where Nono was so they could find him! Me, not Queenie! Not Aunt Beff! Not Aunt Sarah! I'm the only one who tried to find him! G' Pa Burt helped the first month, but gave up like the rest of you! I didn't give up for six months, and none of you have told me you were sorry! Now, look at Nono! He is asleep like Nana Elizabeth was and might not wake up! You know what? Fuck this! Go! Get out, get out, get out!" Quinn stayed behind as the others left, and Blaine squeezed her shoulder as he looked at Liza Marie.

Liza Marie was asleep on Noah's chest when Blaine and Kurt returned. Then Quinn says, "Beth came in for a few minutes with Rachel but left before you returned. Blaine, I swear, since Liza Marie came in, Puck has moved more in the past hour than he did when he was brought in. I know this sounds crazy, but I think Puck and her have some bond or something."

Noah was in a coma for a month and only moved a hand or raised an eyebrow when Liza Marie visited him. On Noah's birthday, Liza Marie stormed into his hospital room and climbed his bed before screaming, "Nono, wake the hell up, goddamn it! Prove those doctors wrong! Show them you are stronger than Nana Elizabeth! You're Uncle Hulk, goddamn it! I love you, goddamn it, and you are my hero! Wake up! Everyone says you only move when I'm here, and I'm not leaving until you wake up! Do you hear me?" Then she put her head against his as she sang A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes.

Liza Marie then kisses Noah's lips before whispering, "I love you, Nono." Until she cries herself to sleep.

When she wakes up, she feels a hand on her back and looks up to see Noah awake. She just started to kiss his face and say, "I knew you were going to wake up, Nono! It took forever to get anyone to listen to me! I had to call General Young myself. These assholes thought you were dead, and the doctors thought you wouldn't wake up!"

Noah glares at the others and says, "I want to talk to Quinn and Blaine alone, now!"

As soon as the others left, they heard Noah yell at Blaine, "Six months?! You watched Liza Marie have nightmares for six months and didn't check to see if her dreams were real! Do you know how many times I tried to kill myself just to get them to stop? Twenty-four times! It took me twenty-four tries to bring that place down, Blaine! Liza Marie had every right to yell at you! I thought no one was looking for me or even cared about me! Then I woke up to find that only one person gave a crap about me! Your daughter!"

Then he yells at Quinn, saying, "Look at me, Quinn! I heard what you said to me when we were alone! I want a divorce! There is no way in hell I want to be married to someone who tells me to die! You know, I used to think we were like Kurt's parents. Now, I think you are the same bitch you always were! I can't believe Liza Marie is the only one here that cares about me, and right now, she is the only one I want to see!"

As Blaine and Quinn leave, Liza Marie says, "I didn't tell them what you said the first time you tried to bring the place down, Nono. I didn't tell them that you asked the bad men to cut your throat or that you were praying to die. Or that you were crying out for Aunt Beff every night. Or about you saying my name the day they started poking you with needles. I didn't even tell them you weren't getting any sleep the whole time."

Noah hugs her and says, "I saw a little girl that looked like you and thought it was you. I hate that you had to dream about what happened to me, and I hope you find a boy like me that will make all your dreams come true."

Liza Marie elbows Noah and says, "I hope Queenie says she's sorry, and I know you don't want her to leave you. Nono, if Queenie hated you, she would never have come to see you. I might love you more, but she is your person, and you know that! You are my first crush. I know she is your soulmate." Soon Quinn comes back in and finds them asleep, holding hands. Then she sat in the chair by Noah's bed and drifted off to sleep.

When Quinn woke up, she could hear a guitar playing. She sees Noah, setting up with his guitar before singing Billy Currington's She's Got A Way With Me.

At the end, Noah takes her hand and says, "I know it's going to be hard, babe, but I'd rather do hard with you than do easy with anyone else."

The others chuckle, and Santana says, "Well, Puck, I guess you still think Quinn is like Kurt's mom, and you are like Mr. H."

Then Burt looks at Carole while saying to Noah, "Puck, I'm glad Kurt never had a crush on you and that I'm not with Norah right now."

Carole elbows Burt as she says to Liza Marie, "Well, I guess I owe you twenty dollars, and I hope Uncle Puck's son helps your dreams come true."

Quinn got pregnant a week before Noah went overseas. Now she is almost eight months pregnant. As Noah touches her belly, he looks at Burt and Kurt, then says to Liza Marie, "If my son is like Dada Kurt, I bet you will be like Auntie Tana was before she liked girls."

Liza Marie glared at him and said, "Queenie is my role model, not Auntie Tana, Nono, and if your son is like my Dada, we all know you'll be worse than G' Pa Burt. Papa and G' Pa Burt teased Queenie, saying that you are like Rambo. If one of the bad men hadn't sneaked up behind you, I know you would have killed all those bad men. I didn't tell the others, but I dreamt you took down a thousand men alone and were the last one caught. I didn't even tell General Young that."

Then Blaine says, "Puck, I chose you as Liza Marie's godfather after hearing stories about Burt. I want you to know that, after I heard Beth was your daughter, I thought about how I would feel if Liza Marie was taken from me."

Then he tells Quinn, "No, Rachel isn't happy that her daughter wants to be like you, and she is more hormonal at six months than you are at eight."

This makes Quinn laugh and say, "Jesse posts videos of her on Facebook and told me she rants all day about me. He knows it's the hormones causing her to act like that, but he can't believe Finn could handle her when she was like that in high school. He is also surprised Liza Marie didn't make her act like that." Then Quinn's face goes white, and Noah sees a puddle of bloody water under her before Blaine goes to get a doctor.

As Quinn awoke in the O.R., she heard and felt a baby but couldn't see anything. Someone soon performed a CT scan of her brain. Then, after she returned to Noah's hospital room, another doctor informed them she had suffered a stroke. Liza Marie soon comes in, climbs into Quinn's hospital bed, and says to Kurt, "Dada, we're moving in with Queenie and Nono."

And Blaine whispers in Quinn's ear, "So glad you asked us to already, and no, I haven't told Puck yet."

Then Noah says, "I heard that from here, Blaine. Kurt, you know I'll be an overprotective uncle when she is thirteen, right?"

And Quinn says, "Puck, shut the hell up! I don't want to hear another word from you! I want to hear Liza Marie, and the rest of you can stand outside or leave! I don't care!"

Burt takes Quinn's hand as Carole puts Junior in Quinn's arms, and Noah whispers, "Blaine, do you remember that song you sang to Kurt when he was in the hospital after being mugged?"

Blaine says nothing as Rachel comes in, followed by Mercedes and Sam, before they sing "Not While I'm Around" to Junior and Quinn. Then they are shocked when Noah sings the last verse.

Soon Quinn is asleep, along with Junior and Liza Marie. Then Noah says, "I watched Sweeney Todd with Quinn once, and Quinn told me the movie was based on a Broadway musical. I promise I didn't know that was the song you sang to Kurt."

Kurt looks at Quinn as he says, "I didn't know about that either, Puck, but Quinn told me you have every movie Johnny Depp was ever in. Would that include Cry-Baby, which was turned into a musical?"

Noah chuckles and says, "Yeah, I used to tease Quinn that we were like Cry-Baby and Allison." Then Noah got quiet as he looked at Quinn and Junior. Soon, Burt has the others leave and sits between Noah and Quinn's beds. Then Noah says, "Mr. H, don't let Mrs. H or Kurt make Quinn feel like she can't do anything and stay out of my beer in the fridge in the garage. I used the same lock you did, so I'm telling you now: stay out! I don't need Kurt or Mrs. H yelling at you or me! And don't say it! I see that look!" Soon he throws things around before he falls out of his chair.

Noah has Burt help him into his wheelchair and says, "My guns are in my Navy locker in the garage. Quinn had me move them after she found out she was pregnant, and the key will be under a cap in our closet. You'll know which one it is when you see it."

Burt looks at Quinn and says, "She found it when you went missing, and we had to hide it several times. I put it back after you woke up."

Noah wheels to Quinn and whispers, "I'm sorry, babe."

Then he looks out the window and says, "They had me so drugged up, I didn't know if it was day or night. Like I said to Blaine and Quinn. It took me twenty-four tries to bring that place down. All I thought about was getting back to Quinn and our baby." Noah soon starts throwing things around before falling out of his wheelchair. Burt tries to help him up, but he refuses his help and tries to get back into the wheelchair himself.

As Noah returned to his wheelchair, he said, "Mr. H, you better be glad Quinn can't see anymore and that I'm in this goddamn wheelchair." Then he sighs as he hears Quinn and Liza Marie cry before he wheels himself over to Quinn's bed.

He tries to take Quinn's hand, but Liza Marie slaps him away. Then she yells, "Nono, don't you ever say that again! You are my hero, goddamn it! So, you can't fucking walk, so Queenie is blind! But you've got friends that will help you, you big dummy!"

Then Quinn says, "Puck, I think what Liza Marie is trying to say is that we're a family, and it's okay to ask for help. By the way, I heard what you said to Mr. H, Puck. I hate that I can't see Junior and will never see him take his first steps. But I won't dwell on that, and I believe you will walk again. Just don't scare me when you do."

Soon, Liza Marie giggles and is about to say something. When Quinn puts her hand over Liza Marie's mouth and says, "Kurt, I know you're outside that door, and I don't want to hear that from you or anyone here,"

As soon as the others enter the room, Noah tries to stand up without holding on to anything. Then Liza Marie says, "Grandpa Burt, hold Nono's hands as you did with me. Everybody else, please. Give Nono room to walk and Auntie Tana room to keep."

Santana interrupts Liza Marie by saying, "Streaming, Little She-Hulk. Quinn, I'm friends with your dad, and he is watching. Puck, your mom had to go back to work." Noah only took ten steps before his knees buckled. Then Sam ran in and got Noah's wheelchair before Noah sat back down. This makes Quinn cry, and then Burt takes Junior and puts him back in his incubator.

Chapter 2 should be up soon.
