Chapter 3
The next time I woke up I heard a knock on the door "Um…Come in" I said and the person came in and it was Annabeth "Well good morning Nico" She said and I smiled at her "Good morning Annabeth" I said back to her and she handed me two apples "Here's breakfast sorry Its not fancy" she said and I shook my head "No it's fine thank you" I said and she nodded before sitting next to me on the bed "So you asked Percy to teach you how to sword fight hue" she said and I looked down but nodded "Yeah…hey Annabeth can I ask you something?" I asked and she nodded "Is Percy bipolar?" I asked and she looked at me like I was crazy and shook her head "No, why?" she asked and I looked down 'I guess it is me' I said in my head 'told you' the other me said.
Before I could reply to myself I looked at Annabeth who was still waiting for an Answer "Um… I ask because the first time I actually talk to him he was nice and kind of sweet but…the next time he just seemed like he hated me" I said taking a bight out of the Apple while Annabeth was thinking "Hum… well I've never seen or heard Percy do that to someone so there has to be a reason" she said and all I did was take another bight out of the Apple "Well I'll talk to him later about it or do you?" she asked me but I shook my head "You can do it…I'm not really sure what he sees me as so you can ask" I said and she nodded before heading out "Oh and Nico we'll be docking in about ten minutes so get ready" she said before leaving.
I was thinking to myself until the other me started talking 'So should you tell Jason your final wishes before dying' he said and I just signed 'He's not going to kill me…if he was he would have done it by now' I said back to him 'hmm you do have a point but still there are always accidents' he said laughing.
Before he said anything else I got up and went outside were I saw everyone getting ready to get off "Ok everyone you know what you're getting, Right?" Annabeth asked "Right" Everyone said "Good we'll have three hours this time" she said and I heard some of them say yes "So first get the stuff then you can do whatever you want to do just don't get cot, got it?" she asked "Got It" the said "Good, Dismissed" she said and everyone left to get ready and Annabeth went up to talk to me "Hey Nico you ready?" she asked and I shook my head "Truthfully no" I said and she laughed "So are you the first mate?" I asked and she looked at me "What?" she asked "Are you the first mate… I mean you do give orders so…are you?" I asked and she shook her head "No I'm only in charge until seaweed brain chooses someone to be the first mate" she said and I was confused "Seaweed brain?" I asked and she nodded "Yeah that's what I call Percy but the only reason why he lets me call him that is because I was one of the first people that was his friend before doing this pirate thing" she said and I nodded "Who was the other?" I asked "Grover" was all she said.
After she said that I looked at her "Wait Grover… as in Grover Underwood?" I asked and she nodded "Yeah…how did you know that?" she asked "He was a family friend along with his wife Juniper" I said and she laughed "What?" I asked "Nothing it's just me and Percy thought he died two years ago" she said "That's around the same time he came to Tartarus" I said "Well Percy's going to love hearing that" she said but before I could say anything else we saw that everyone was getting ready to dock "Well see yah later Nico" she said and I waved at her and she left.
After everyone got off I saw Percy come up from down below with two sword. When he was about to get off he looked at me "Are you coming or what?" he asked getting off and I quickly followed him. After what felt like an hour but was only ten minutes we stopped at a felid and Percy handed me a black sword "I figured this one would suit you fine" he said and I nodded "Thank you Percy" I said and I saw him look at me for a second before turning around and nodded "Your welcome" he said walking forwards then turned to me "Ok so I'm just going to teach you the basics first got it?" he asked and I nodded. For the past two hours it was like that.
After that I sat down totally exhausted that's when I saw Percy handing me a cup "Thank you" I said and he nodded and I drank. When I gave it back to him we just sat there in silence. After awhile Percy broke it "Listen Nico I'm sorry for snapping at you last night it wasn't right of me to do that to you" He said and I looked at him "It's ok you were probable under some stress" I said and he looked at me then at the floor and shook his head "No it's not that it's just…" he said "just" I said waiting for him to continue.
He signed "It's just that every time we save someone they always think we're going to kill them and always call us mostly me 'the pirate' or 'the monster'" he said looking down. When he said that I felt sad for him "I must be hard for you" I said even thou I already knew the answer. All he did was nod "Yeah but you know as time goes on you get used to being called things like that" he said before laughing.
I looked at him confused "Why are you laughing?" I asked and he stopped and looked at me with a sad smile "Nothing it's just everyone says they have feelings right?" he asked and I nodded "Well why are we different?" he asked and I didn't know if he actually wanted me to answer that or not.
Apparently not because he started talking again "To top it off they always kill themselves and I'm always call me a murderer when I only ever fight to defend myself but NO everyone still calls me that" and he continued on like that for about twenty minutes before he stopped and looked at me "Sorry, didn't mean to talk that much" he said looking down but I shook my head and stud and put a hand on his shoulder "It's fine it's hard being the strong captain when in fact he has feelings and just needs to let it out" I said smiling at him and he smiled back and grabbed both my hands and we just looked at each other for a few minutes before he spoke again "I don't know why but I feel like I can trust you Nico" he said brushing my hair out of my face with one of his hands "Hmm well I can tell you this much Percy I promise I won't call you anything you're not and I'll try not to hurt you" I said and he nodded "And I'll do the same" he said before I remembered something "Oh yah Percy was your first mate someone named Grover Underwood?" I asked and he was surprised "How did you know that?" he asked "Annabeth" I said and he nodded "Figures… anyway yes he was my first mate until he disappeared" he said looking down "Well he's actually on Tartarus" I said braising myself for whatever Percy was going to do.
To my surprise he didn't do anything he just looked at me "Are you serious?" he asked and I nodded before he smiled and hugged me and I was lucky my face was hiding because I swear I was blushing like mad "That's great Nico you truly just made my day" he said before we looked into each other's eyes again and that's when we realized how close we really are and we separated quickly "Sorry" we both said and then laughed. After that we just talked about our kingdoms and our family's that when we decided to head back so we did.
When we got back everyone else was also coming back "Annabeth" Percy called out and Annabeth showed up "Before we leave please make sure everyone's hear" he said and she nodded "Sure thing seaweed brain" she said looking at me and winking and I smiled back at her then she left to go count and Percy took me back to his cabin "Um Percy can I ask you something?" I asked and he nodded "Um why am I sleeping in you cabin? Not that I'm complaining I'm just wondering" I asked and he looked at me "Um I'll give you an answer to that later for now rest" he said and I nodded "Ok but first" I was taking a big risk by doing this but I just had to.
I kissed him on the check and I saw he was shocked and blushing "Thank you for everything…I'm going to take my nape now" I said then walking into his room and laying on the bed smiling 'maybe he does like me' I thought but It was ruined by the 'other me' 'doubt it' he said and I frond 'oh what do you know' I asked and I heard him laugh 'oh more then you' he said 'well you were wrong about the training so you have no right to-' I was starting to say but he cut me off 'sure but doesn't mean I'm wrong about him not liking you' he said and that's when I decided to ignore him and sleep.
Hoping that the voice in my head would go away someday.
