By time Wednesday arrived, Henry had gotten Regina to agree to let him miss school for the day. Snow found someone to substitute in for her class and David found someone to work at the station for the day so he wouldn't have to work. Granny agreed to let Ashley cover Ruby's shift for the morning and early afternoon. The hospital waiting room was filled with people concerned about Emma and excited for their baby's arrival. Rumple, Belle, Neal, Snow, David, Ruby and Tink were all sitting in the hard plastic chairs while Regina and Henry paced back and forth in Emma's room, waiting for Dr. Whale to come measure the baby. They didn't have any doubts that the baby would be big enough, otherwise they wouldn't have allowed so many people to skip on their daily duties to be there for the small family.

When Dr. Whale rolled the machine in, he smiled at the trio and waited for Regina to take her seat next to Emma in order to start. Emma pulled up her shirt, not even caring anymore about modesty because she just wanted to know if her baby had grown enough for them to deliver him. Once Victor had the machine set up and the baby on the screen, he offered a wide smile to both women.

"Ladies," he said after several minutes of measurements. "He's about 18 ½ inches long."

"That's good, right?" Emma asked.

"That's remarkable. Somehow this baby is ready to come out and he seems hardly premature."

"How much does he weigh?" Emma asked.

"Well, it looks like he is about 5 pounds, but the machine is always a few ounces off, so he may be bigger, he may be smaller. That's something we will have to tell when we get you into surgery."

"And when are you going to perform the cesarean, Victor?" Regina asked.

"Well, how about after lunchtime? You haven't eaten today, have you Emma?" The blonde woman shook her head no. "Alright, then we'll go for 4 this afternoon?"

"Ok," Emma agreed. Victor began wheeling the cart out of the room and Regina told Emma she'd be right back, following the doctor out of the room.

"Victor," Regina called, causing the man to halt. "What…what do we do about Emma once the baby is out?"

"About her depression?"

"Yes."

"Well, we can put her on some medication, for starters. And her smaller appetite should be less of an issue now that she won't be feeding both herself and a baby."

"Ok, and should we seek counseling? I mean, she hasn't spoken to Archie at all and we've tried so many times."

"Regina, it'll be ok," he soothed, rubbing his hand along her arm. "She's strong, you guys will get through this. Maybe the baby being home will help, maybe she just needs to meet him. Occasionally moms will suffer depression while pregnant, but once they don't have another human inside of them anymore they get better. Sometimes they don't, though. You'll have to keep an eye on her. I won't discharge her until we're ready to discharge the baby though, if that makes you feel better."

"It does. Thank you."

"Regina, you guys will be alright." Regina nodded and headed to the waiting room. Once she arrived, everyone stood from their chairs and gathered around her for the news.

"Dr. Whale is going to begin the surgery at 4 this afternoon. Our son will be born today, and he appears to be at an ok premature weight and height. Hopefully they won't have to keep him here very long." The group cheered and everyone hugged each other. "You guys…I need for you to do your best to cheer up Emma. Dr. Whale said it might get better once the baby is out, but it may get worse, he doesn't know. But we need to do our best to make her happy before she and the baby get to go home." Regina stopped talking, panic setting in. "Oh my god." She began pacing in circles, her hand on her forehead and her other arm crossed with that hand gripping her elbow. "Shit. Oh gods, no. No, no, no." Snow gripped her arms to stop her from pacing.

"Regina, what's wrong?" Snow asked.

"The baby. He's so early and we've been here so long and I've hardly left the hospital except to shower. I haven't even switched Henry's room over to the second guest room so that the baby's room can be closer to ours! I haven't even moved the furniture out of the extra guest room! I haven't done anything! We haven't bought a crib, or a car seat or anything!"

"Regina, calm down, it'll be ok. Do you have a bassinet from when Henry was a baby?" Snow asked. Regina nodded. "Then the baby can sleep in your room in the bassinet until it's all taken care of. Why don't I take you home so you can shower?"

"Let me go make sure Emma is doing fine, first."

Regina checked on Emma, but the blonde was sleeping. She told Henry that she was going to go home and shower quickly and to grab some things for the baby from the store to fill the diaper bag. She went back out to the waiting room and Snow stood.

"Actually, Snow, would you mind staying with Emma? David can take me, if that's all right? I just think that if Emma was to wake up without me there, you are the person she would want to have with her." Snow looked touched by Regina's belief and she nodded, and then headed off to Emma's room. Ruby and David both stood.

"I'll come too," Ruby insisted. "If we stop at Granny's on the way back, I'll insist to Granny that she gives you guys free happy baby day meals." Regina looked at the other brunette warily, but nodded.

When the three arrived at the mansion Regina directed Ruby and David to busy themselves while she showered.

"Actually, Regina…do you want to show me which room is supposed to be the baby's really quickly and I can start getting things moved around for you…if you would like," David offered with a smile. Regina nodded and motioned for him to follow her upstairs with Ruby tagging along behind. When she arrived at Henry's bedroom door, she pushed it open and almost fainted at the sight. The room had been painted in soft greens and yellows, brightening it from the old blues that used to cover the walls. There was a chestnut sleigh style crib along one wall. A matching diaper changing station was underneath the window against the connecting wall. A tall 5-drawer dresser that matched the other furniture was on the wall she was standing next to, just aside the light switch. In the left corner of the room was a beautiful rocking chair with green cushions. The bedspread for the crib was yellow with horses all over it and the mobile above the crib had horses.

"Look in the dresser, the closet and on the changing station," Ruby directed. Regina stepped into the room and opened the first dresser drawer to find several plain white onesies and many tiny pairs of socks. The second drawer held shirts and colored onesies, and onesies with silly sayings like "Mommy's handsome man." The third held pants and shorts. The bottom two drawers held several receiving blankets and burp cloths. When she opened the closet she found a diaper bag on the shelf. There was a car seat, still in it's box on the floor of the closet. There was a little newborn coat hanging beside several nice baby shirts and clothes that were too big for the baby right now. There were also several packs of diapers, sizes 1-3 sitting in their boxes on the floor next to the car seat box. She pulled the chocolate and green diaper bag out of the closet and went to look at the changing table. She pulled back the small curtains that covered the shelves and found several packs of diapers in preemie and newborn sizes on the shelves along with several packages of wipes.

Regina stood with tears in her eyes and looked at the two people standing in the doorway. "What is this? Where did it all come from?" she asked in a low voice.

"Snow and David bought most of it, but Gold actually contributed a lot, said he owed you and there would never be a better way to make it up to you. David and Neal, even Victor on occasion did the heavy lifting, moving the furniture from the guest room into the basement and moving Henry's room into that room and this stuff into here. Henry told us which rooms you would want moved," Ruby explained.

"And Snow, Belle, Tink and Ruby did most of the shopping for the baby. Snow said that she hadn't heard you or Emma thinking of a theme for the room but that she would bet you would love a horse theme. Granny made a blanket like Emma's, but she hasn't been able to embroider the name because you guys haven't told us his name yet," David added.

"Yeah…we…we don't have one yet," she said slowly, stunned at everything that had been done for them. Out of character, she reached out and hugged David, and then hugged Ruby. "I cannot possibly thank you guys enough for this."

"We know. It's not a big deal. Actually, it was Snow and Henry's idea."

"Thank you." The two nodded and walked out of the room, leaving Regina some time for herself. She gathered things she would need for the diaper bag, which included diapers, wipes, preemie outfits, receiving blankets, and burping cloths. She made a mental note to stop at the store on their way to the hospital for bottles and formula.

She left the room, after spending nearly half an hour in it, and took her shower. After she was ready, David grabbed the car seat to put into the trunk so he could install it into her car and they went back to the hospital.

When they arrived Emma was still sleeping, so Regina went around the waiting room and thanked everyone for helping set up their house in preparation for the baby. Ordinarily, the thought of so many people being in her house without her there would piss her off, but she was so touched that she couldn't find it in herself to be even a little angry. When she came to Gold, she asked him to walk with her and the pair moved down the hallway away from the rest of the group.

"Let me pay you back, Rumple," she insisted.

"Not at all, dearie."

"But why not?"

"Because, though I may not have treated you like it, I have always thought of you as the daughter I never had. I may have used you to cast the curse, but I was always fond of you and enjoyed my time with you. Think of it as my apology for hurting you so deeply and giving you false hope." She nodded.

"Thank you," she whispered, tears brimming her eyes.

"You're very welcome, but no thanks are necessary. I'm glad you think they did well with the room."

"It's beautiful."

The next person she spoke to was Snow, outside of Emma's room.

"Snow, I can't thank you enough for the beautiful job you all did on the baby's room. And thinking to theme it with horses was wonderful."

"Regina, after everything we've been through, and our making a truce, I think that the room was an easy way to show you that I mean it. I can see how much you love Emma just by how you have been by her side through this entire ordeal and I couldn't have asked for a better partner for her. I'm glad it's you, Regina. I am glad that you and I get to be a family again…in a less painful way than the last time." Both brunettes smiled at each other and hugged before Regina excused herself to check on Emma and Henry.

When she entered the room, Henry was holding Emma's hand and talking to her, even though the blonde was sleeping.

"They said they have to come do the spine thing soon," Henry whispered.

"The epidural?"

"Yeah."

"Ok. We'll let her sleep until they come to do that."

"Did you like the room?"

"I did. Thank you, my little prince. You know me very well."

"Of course I do," he said in a tone that sounded like the was saying 'duh.' He smiled at his mom and continued, "You're my mom, I know you better than you think." Regina chuckled at his response and she ran her fingers through his hair, straightening it.

"I love you, sweetheart."

"I know mom, I love you too."
