A/N: Greetings everypony, and welcome to New Life in Ponyville. Sorry for the wait, some things keep coming up. With my summer suddenly turning busy and year two of college starting soon, I need to get my mind back in the right place. Summer is just a quick breather for me now. I will not abandon my readers, however, so expect me to keep coming up. I realize that I've posted updates on Dark Vengeance and Starswirl's Nightmare, but nothing here. I'm hoping to change that starting now. I gotta get this complete and Starswirl's Nightmare is one chapter away from completion. I have plans.

Fluttershy: …

Me: Please Fluttershy, just say hi. Nopony can see you

Fluttershy: Umm…hi *eep*

Me: Don't be afraid

Fluttershy: I'm probably ruining the introduction, I'll just go

Me: Fluttershy, wait!

Me: She left. Umm, I have no idea what now. I'd chase after her and ask for another take, but she just flew into Cloudsdale. Anyway, I should get this started. Rainbow may think I scared her off and I don't want a Sonic Rainboom up my plot. Let's go

Disclaimer: All I own is my OC, all canon characters belong to HASBRO.

ONWARDS!

(Anyone getting tired of me saying onwards? Just wondering)

Scribe Featherhart,

We at the Department of Housing have finalized all the paperwork necessary for your cottage on Horseshoe Parkway, and you are approved. Please come down to Mayor Mare's office to sign the official lease and your 300 bit deposit. All financial information will be discussed tomorrow afternoon at 3:00. Be prompt and dress neat.

-Ponyville Department of Housing

I finally have my cottage? Yes! I mean, yeah Twilight is a good bunkmate, but her recent flare up was just a sign that said 'You better be out of here!' I got the message alright. With Twilight mad at me still, and my first day at Sweet Apple Acres starting tomorrow morning, I needed to be ready to move out. I didn't have much to begin with, so hopefully I can be out of here. I was happy that my cottage was finally ready and the Department of Housing wasn't being a big pile of manure.

I sighed as I placed the letter down on the coffee table in the middle of the room. Twilight was finishing up something in her loft and I was not allowed to go up there until I was given Divine Permission. Spike laughed at me when Twilight mentioned that. Next she will demand that I make a blood sacrifice to please her.

Spike better not laugh.

"Ahem!"

I turned around, and there was Twilight. "Ok, you can go now," she said with a sour expression on her face.

"Look, I am really sorry for making you late to the picnic, but I am out of here tomorrow. I won't be a bother to you ever again," I said.

Twilight sighed. "It's not that. I mean, yeah it is, but not the main reason. I have to be in Trottingham next week and I really don't want to go. The whole problem with the mirror a few months ago and the 'Nightmare scare' really put Trottingham on edge." She paused. "I probably should not have mentioned the mirror." She cursed at herself.

"Don't worry, I'll pretend I overheard you reading an urban legends book. I better get some rest, I have to be at Sweet Apple Acres by sunrise tomorrow." I yawned when I mentioned rest.

Twilight gave me a dirty look. "Just don't do anything to make her upset, if you know what I mean. She's had enough when Trenderhoof came to town and tried moving in because of her. Just keep to yourself and don't do anything stupid."

"Something stupid is going to happen to me either way, but you have my word."

She smiled a little bit. "Besides, I didn't get the message until I was almost done cleaning, but the picnic was canceled. Apparently Pinkie had a problem with the new oven at Sugarcube Corner so she had to take care of it. In fact, if I was on time, I would've been there for hours before I found out."

I chuckled to myself. "Just don't push your luck next time, OK? You are always welcome here."

A few months later, I notice that the library was burned down, but that's for later.

"Thank you," I said. I cracked my neck before I walked past Twilight, wishing her a goodnight's rest. I walked upstairs and rested my head on the pillow. Tomorrow, I get my own place and my first day on the job. It's nice of Trenderhoof to cause trouble for all writers in Equestria. I think I will be watched the whole time I'm working there. I turned off the light, and before I knew it, I was asleep.

I grunted as my hind legs impacted the apple tree behind me. My legs were wobbily from the first time I tried bucking a tree, and Applejack was standing off to the side laughing. "Ah should've known unicorns can't buck apples. Mah little sister can buck better, an' that's the honest truth," she said.

I chuckled to myself as I tried again. As my hind legs hit the tree, an apple landed on my head. I think somepony replaced those apples with rocks. I picked it up with my magic and continued working. More apples came crashing down, but they all kept hitting me in the head. My skull will have a dent by the time I go to sleep tonight. Applejack started laughing.

I sighed as I magically picked up the apples. After the basket on my back was filled, I dropped it next to a set of 3 baskets and picked up an empty one. The south side of the orchard was finally clear, but I still had more to get to. I started trotting to the north of the farm.

"Ya know, yer not as irritatin' as Trenderhoof," Applejack said. "Yer actually workin'."

I smiled. "Umm, thanks. Listen, you don't mind if I head home a little early today, do you? I have to get my cottage from the town," I asked.

"Sure thing, just remember that you are working till sunset," Applejack reminded.

I nodded. "Fer now, its break time."

I silently praised Princess Celestia as I followed Applejack to her barn. She went in alone and came out with three mugs of apple cider on a silver platter. She set them on a crate in front of me. She offered one to me while she took the other. "Ya first day working with the Apple family."

I smiled as I raised the mug. "Cheers."

We both took swings of the cider. I immediately felt a little woozy afterwards, but that may be from the heat. I took another drink when I felt something speed past me. My spit-take may not have pleased Applejack, but if something startled you while drinking a cooling mug of apple cider and you had no way to react but spitting it out, it was going to happen. All I saw was cyan and a rainbow. I had about a 50/50 chance that I would get my guess right. I turned, and there was a rainbow pegasus.

Applejack smirked, despite being in the line of fire of the cider I spat out. "Rainbow Dash, how long were yew watching mah barn?"

"Oh, you know, a while," she said without trying to fib her way out.

Applejack laughed. "If ya wanted some cider, all ya had to do was ask. Ya scared the nightmare out of mah new friend."

Yay, I'm a friend. Rainbow turned to me, looked back at Applejack, and laughed. "He spit on you! Hahaha, oh that's rich!"

"Do ya want the cider or no?"

Rainbow stopped laughing. "Yes please." Without warning, she took the mug.

As Rainbow was chugging the cider, Applejack turned to me and whispered. "She has a cider problem."

"I do not!"

"Do to! Last Apple Cider Season, ya took two mugs of cider and tried stealing a whole barrel! Ya have a problem!"

Rainbow put the mug down. "For the record, I returned the barrel—"

"Empty, if ah may add," Applejack said.

"—and I apologized. Besides, at least I got one instead of Pinkie! Pinkie has a problem compared to me!"

I took another sip when the crate with the silver platter exploded. Pinkie Pie had a spider in her mane, otherwise she was fine. "Somepony said my name!"

After my heart attack, I picked up my mug. "Pinkie! What the hay are ya doing in mah crate?"

"I was playing hide and seek with Applebloom when I heard you say my name," she said.

"But-Applebloom is in school," Applejack said.

"Aw man, now you spoiled the game!"

Rainbow and I started laughing. Pinkie bounced out of the crate and disappeared inside the barn. That was the last time I heard anything from inside the barn. I sighed as I looked up at my boss. "Break over, huh?"

She bit her lip and nodded. "One more hour, and ya can go to yer cottage meetin'. Ah'll take care of yer duties until yer done."

I nodded and trotted off into the fields.

I never did get to finish my cider.

I sat silently in the office of Mayor Mare while she was going over my paperwork. I found the vest Rarity made for me, and with some help from her, I looked like the model pony. Mayor Mare's secretary peered over me when I walked in, ensuring that no princess would make a fool out of her this time. She growled at me when I walked in, but she and I both knew this would be the last time I would ever see her, granted my application goes through.

Mayor Mare looked up at me and back at her papers. "Well Mr. Featherhart, it seems as though everything is in place. You clearly check out on our background checks and you have a letter of recommendation from your old neighbor from Appleloosa," she said.

"Which one?" I asked in fright.

She looked back at the papers. "From a Ms. Whinnicorn, I think that's her name. She wrote that you are a silent pony and you don't disturb your neighbors that often."

"That often?"

Mayor Mare shrugged. "I didn't make the letter. Anyway, everything is all set." She passed a paper across the desk. "Just sign here and initial here, pay your deposit and I will give you the keys."

I smiled as I magically pulled out the quill Rarity gave me. I signed and initialed and paid the deposit with a wide grin on my face. "Congratulations Mr. Featherhart, you are the proud owner of a small piece of Ponyville. Treat it with respect and it will be safe to say 'welcome to the neighborhood'."

She moved a pair of keys and the deed over to me. She signed the deed, sealing the deal. I smiled as I shook her hoof. "Thank you Ms. Mare. It means a lot."

"It is no problem Mr. Featherhart, just one thing I ask from you."

She caught my attention. "What's that?"

"Why not mention Ponyville in your next book?"

I mentally facehoofed. "Um, sure. Are you a fan?"

"No, but I know some ponies are, and when they hear that you are staying in the most beautiful town in Equestria, they will want to move here too," she said.

I chuckled. "I will remember that when I get back to work. Thank you again."

I rolled up the deed and placed the keys in my pocket and headed out the door. Mayor Mare's secretary glared at me, but I only responded the most mature way possible: I stuck my tongue out at her. She gasped, but I didn't care. I finally got my cottage. I can move out of the library and move into…my empty house.

Maybe Twilight can let me stay one more night.

A/N: Alrighty bronies, I hope that update covers my plot for the time being. I'll begin working on the last chapter of Starswirl's Nightmare probably within the week. Peace out my friend, and Flutter On!
