A/N: Sorry for the late update, haven't been brainstorming much but I'm back now and I'm here to stay. This is the second chapter and the continuation of the previous one

Quick Recap!

Renesmee met Jacob at Greasy Sammy's after dropping her daughter off to school. They immediately clicked and yada…

Chapter 2: Family dinner

The day ended really quickly I might add. After my shift I designated my way to Rosie's school to pick her up and prepare for tonight

Tonight was our annual 'Family' dinner at my grandparents' house, where almost my entire family attends it. I didn't really get it at first, I mean it wasn't like we never got to see each other every day; however, my family insisted that it's a 'Family' tradition. I know I don't make any sense but whatever. So right now I was getting both Rosie and I ready for tonight

"Mommy, can I wear you're makeup?" Rosie asked innocently as her big green eyes bored into mine as they pleaded

"Oh sweetie, makeup is for old people" I told her which made my little girl pout. "Tell you what. I'll spray a little bit of makeup if you promise to eat Nana Esme's homemade veggies tonight is that alright?" I asked and her eyes immediately brightened and she nodded excitedly. I smiled back and began applying light makeup on her petite face, carefully on the cheeks and eyes.

After getting ready for tonight, we did a little homework.

"Okay, I've got one apple in my left hand and three in my right. How many will I have if I combine them together?" I asked. Rose looked in thought for a while before getting the answer

"Four," Rose said proudly.

"Very good Rose, now why don't you write that down?" I insisted and she wrote on her notepad. The doorbell broke us off from our little session. "Why don't you continue while I answer the door okay?" I said before picking myself up and answering the door. There stood Erica with a bottle of Champagne in her hand and she squealed

"Hey girl" She exclaimed as she pulled me in a hug. I chuckled at my best friend.

"Hey Er" I replied

"How are you doing?" She asked as I invited her into the house and hung her coat on the rag.

"Oh I'm good, just working on some homework with Rosie" I smiled.

"There's my little munchkin!" Erica exclaimed as she ran to my daughter and showered her with thousands of kisses. Rosemaree giggled in delight. "I've missed you so much" Erica cooed

"I miss you too Aunty Erie!" Rose said in a cute voice. I smiled at the pair as I finished off with the last few dishes before we leave.

"Do you want something to drink?" I asked Erica.

"I'm actually saving up my thirst for the Champagne tonight, but I'll settle for water" She answered and I laughed. Erica is also tagging along with us. She and I have been friends for quite a while she's practically part of the family too. My family adored her from the very beginning, why wouldn't they?

"Good to know you haven't change since High school" I snickered as I walked up to her with two glasses of water.

"You mean still as hot as ever" she said proudly and I just rolled my eyes. Oh Erica

"Hey baby, why don't you watch a little bit of TV before we leave?" I said to Rose who immediately got up and ran and switched the DVR as she watched her favorite show. The Powerpuff girls, she was too cute

"So tell me?" Erica asked as she stared up at me in anticipation. I knew what she meant but I just didn't wanna admit it.

"About?" I laughed.

"Oh you know what I'm talking about" she said like it was pretty obvious.

"No I really don't" I sniggered with an eye roll.

"Re-re" she warned and I just shook my head. "Did you at least get his number?" She asked and when I didn't answer she gasped. "No way,"

"I just gave him my number and that was it" I answered like it was no big deal. She double gasped if that was even possible

"Omigosh, you gave him the 'my' number card?" she asked. "What did you guys say?"

"We just talked about Tacoma and he just asked for my number there is no big deal" I shrugged.

"You know this means something right?"

"And what is that?" I asked

"That it's meant to be" She simply said and I rolled my eyes at her. "No seriously, Tacoma is the City of destiny; this may very well be your destiny Ren"

"Don't be ridiculous Erica, I'm not looking for a relationship and plus I might not even see him again" I said and she just shrugged.

"Just saying babe"

"We should probably get going" I said dropping the subject completely. She sighed and nodded understandingly. "Rosie, get your coat we're going to Grandma and Grandpa" I told my daughter who beamed up in excitement.

"Ooh, I wanna see Grandparents" she exclaimed running into her room and back trying to zip her coat up. I chuckled and helped her with it. It was a surprisingly cold night.

"Let me help you there sweetie" I insisted as I zipped it up. We smiled at each other and I picked her up from the ground with her legs wrapped around me.

"Ready to go" Erie asked and we nodded before making sure everything was locked and leaving the house.

Since my car is still being serviced, Erica was kindly enough to allow us to take a ride in her car everytime we needed to go somewhere and not wanting to take the bus. I always tried to pay her back for all her generosity but she always insisted on saying 'What are friends for' so I just let it slide from there.

We were on the road not long after in Erica's car and on our way to my grandparents. Their house wasn't far from my apartment, only a five minute drive away. They live in beautiful a triple story house since my grandfather is a doctor at the Tacoma Medical Hospital and my grandmother is an interior decorator so you'd say they're living la Vida loca.

We pulled up the Cullen driveway and walked up to the porch and rang the doorbell. My Grandmother was the first to open as she exclaimed.

"Renesmee" As she pulled me into a tight hug.

"Hey Grandma" I smiled

"Erica" she said also pulling her into a hug. "It's good to have you guys here"

"It's good to be here Mrs. Masen" Erica answered. My grandma's eyes shifted from ours and onto Rosie's who had her thump in her mouth and clinging onto my dress

"Oh my little Rose you've grown so much" Esme gasped as she saw Rose. "Come give Nana a big hug" Esme insisted and she immediately brightened and ran forward into Esme's warm arms

"Miss you Nana" Rose said on Esme's shoulder. I smiled at the scene and entered the house. I could hear most of my family in the kitchen so Erica and I went into it to see my mom cooking. A big smile spread across her face when she saw me walk in

"Renesmee" My mom squealed as she ran forward and hugged me. I chuckled at the sudden maneuver. "I've missed you so much" She acted like she hasn't seen me in years rather than a week but who could blame a mother.

"I've missed you too, mom" I said returning the embrace. While doing so I saw my two awesome aunts behind her and I immediately squealed.

"Aunt Rosalie, Aunt Alice!" I gasped in delight as I ran to them whilst my mom was now hugging Erica.

"Where the hell have you been, it's about damn time you showed up" Rosalie said.

"And it's a good thing your fashionably late" Alice said in awe as she saw my outfit. Well I thought I did look okay but never great.

"Well I'm here now" I smiled at them. I looked around to see that not a lot of people were around "Where's everyone else?" I asked

"In the backyard playing baseball with a friend" My Aunt replied. I moved around to help my mom cook whilst watching my daughter interact with my grandma.

"Which friend?" I asked

"Oh you'll see" My mom said setting the large chicken. Large I might add, into the oven. I looked over the window that led to the backyard to see a tall and strong man standing. He has olive skin, light brown hair but I couldn't see his facials properly but he looked so familiar. Who could that be?

"What?" I asked as I saw my aunts smiling at me.

"Oh, nothing" Alice said munching on her crisps. Not so long after, all the guys entered the house.

"There's my Rene-dong" My Uncle Emmett's voice enter the room as he pulled me into a bear hug. Rene-dong was the nickname he gave me when I was a child and I had a recital to do, I hated it when he called it out in public. Total public humiliation

"How are you baby girl" My dad said hugging me. I smiled up at him and moved onward to Uncle Jasper. After hugging him, was when I met eyes with a green-eyed man.

"Nahuel?" I gasped as I saw him.

"In the flesh" He smiled widely at me. Nahuel was my neighborhood best friend since I was a kid. We used to play mud-pies, heck; we use to take freaking bubble baths together. But when he moved to Canada I was left with no one. I squealed and pulled him into a tight hug.

"How did you get here?" I asked rhetorically

"By foot, man it was a long walk from Toronto to Tacoma" He joked and I rolled my eyes.

"I meant when did you get here?" I laughed

"He stopped by in the neighborhood to visit his family when we met up with him so we invited him over knowing how much you wanted to see him" My dad answered as he pulled my mom to his side. It was true, I always wondered how Nahuel's life was in Canada, how he was

"Well it's good to see you" I smiled at him. He smiled back and he's eyes shifted from mine and onto Erica's.

"Um…hi" He said staring at her intently extending his hand. "I-I'm, Nahuel" he stuttered. She smiled back at him

"Erica" She said shaking it and letting it go. "It's nice to meet you"

"Same here" Nahuel told her. I was completely stunned by this exchange, what the hell just happened?

"Dinner's ready" My mom shouted from the dining room. We walked in and took a seat. Erica on my left with Nahuel on my right and after everyone piled food onto their plates they started their own conversation

"Your mom's a really good cook" Nahuel said looking at me but I could see his eyes slightly drifting to Erica who was having a conversation with my Aunt Alice.

"I know right, she's the best" I smiled. "What's new?" I asked him.

"Oh nothing much, just…you know…same old same old" Nahuel answered completely distracted.

"Like what you see?" I asked as I continued with my meal.

"What? Hmm?" Nahuel asked his eyes focusing back on mine. I just laughed when I heard my daughter run up to me.

"Mommy, mommy, look what I got" She said showing her hand to me which had a tooth in it.

"Oh Rose, is that yours?" I asked and she nodded

"Nana helped me take it out" she said opening her mouth and motioning to her missing tooth. "It didn't even hurt mommy" she said

"Oh what a big girl you are, you'll be getting a treat from the tooth fairy tonight" I smiled at her and she smiled back in return.

"She's so precious" Nahuel said in awe as he smiled at her.

"Yeah she is" I smiled back.

The dinner ended and we were all doing our own thing. I was in the kitchen washing the dishes with my dad and the topic of discussion was of course my love life and the ever so popular my job.

"I still think you should look for other jobs" he said. "You know, I can hook you up with a friend of mine in the dance business, they offer good money too" he suggested. I sighed

"Dad, I get that your trying to help but I can find my own job myself" I said. "And besides, it's not like I'm gonna stay a waitress forever"

"I really hope so sweetheart" He sighed. "And you'll probably get married soon enough" He said in dreadfulness

"I won't" I laughed. I turned to see Nahuel and Erica having a silent conversation together and they both looked like they were interested. "At least I won't be the first one anytime soon" I said. "I promise I'll give you more grandchildren in the future but for now you're stuck with Rose" I said to him. To say my parents were thrilled of becoming grandparents was an understatement. Yeah sure at first it was a rough start where it got to a point where they didn't talk to me for a month, but it soon shifted when Rosemaree was born and she had them wrapped around her little finger.

"I love you Rennie" He said pulling me into a hug. I hugged him back and said the same.

Erica and I said our last goodbyes to my family and thanked them for the wonderful meal.

"Before you go to work tomorrow may you please give these documents to the Sheriff Deaton?" My dad asked handing me sets of paperwork. The Sheriff of the Tacoma department was a close friend of our family and my grandfather Carlisle.

"Um yeah sure" I smiled as Erica zipped Rosie's raincoat. Nahuel was standing by her as they also said their goodbyes.

"Okay, drive safe guys" My mom said.

"And we love you" Carlisle and Esme said in unison

"Oh and don't forget to watch the superbowl tonight" Emmett said and immediately ran to the living room. I laughed at my goofy uncle.

"Bye guys" I said and we left the house.

"Well that was fun" Erica sighed happily.

"Yeah, it was fun wasn't it Nahuel?" I teased and she let out a blush.

"Don't start Ren" she warned and I laughed as we got onto the road and drove away.

The Next Day

After dropping Rose off to school, I took a bus and went to the TPD station downtown. I called my boss and informed him that I'd be coming to work a little late for personal reasons and seen as he loves me so much, he allowed me to.

I walked into the station that smelled like papers and ink. The typical office as I called it. I walked up to the reception and asked if I could see the Sheriff.

"Right this way Miss" the reception lady motioned to his office. I thanked her and knocked on his door.

"Come in" A husky voice replied and I opened the doorknob and walked into the office to see a man all in uniform working on a computer.

"Um, I came here to give these documents from Mr. Carlisle Masen?" I asked as I looked through the papers I was carrying.

"Renesmee?" I heard the beautiful deep voice ring into my ear. I looked up to see the one man I met not so long ago. The beautiful man I met at the restaurant.

"Jake?" I gasped as I saw him. He immediately got up from his seat and almost trembled. I suppressed a laugh. "I didn't know you work her?"

"Um…yeah I do, I've been working her for 3 years, what are you doing here?" he asked still in bewilderment. "I mean scratch that" he said nervously and I laughed.

"Just came to give some documents"

"Oh right yeah," He said taking a quick sip from his coffee and walking up to me. "The Sheriff went on a vacation so I'm taking over for a while" he said as I handed him the documents and he paged through them.

"Oh that's cool, so you're the boss man now" I laughed.

"I wish" He laughed along. I watched as he paged through the pages with his huge hands and the way he walked up to his desk and the way his muscles flexed when he fiddled with the mouse of the computer. Did I mention how hot he looked in his uniform?

I didn't realize he was talking to me when he called my name.

"Hmm?" I asked.

"Are you heading to work?" He asked with a light laugh. Did he catch me staring at him?

"Um yeah, I just did a favor for my grandfather"

"So you're Carlisle Masen's granddaughter?" He asked.

"The one and only" I laughed.

"Well that's good to know" He smiled at me. He was about to answer when I quickly checked the timer on my watch to see that I was about to be late for work. "Holy shoot I'm going to be late"

"Oh you're leaving?" He asked slightly disappointed,

"Yeah, I got customers to waiter" I chuckled

"Oh, I've also got work so" He said walking up to me. "Hey, how about we go for coffee some time?" He asked

"Yeah sure that'd be great" I smiled back

"So I guess I'll call you?" He confirmed and I nodded. It soon became slightly awkward when we had no idea what to do next. He then laughed which caused me to do the same "It was great seeing you again" He said hugging me. I returned the embrace

"Same here" I replied and all too soon after I left the station.

Maybe all this was some meaning as Erica would say it but what the heck. I'm not looking for love or anything, we're just friends and I really hope it can stay that way…
