Chapter 6: Blossom Scout

I couldn't believe this! Riley Biers! One of the last people I'd like to see or hear from right now!

Remembering his jackass of a face from four years ago wasn't what I pictured for my way to end my Saturday. If I wanted to have a reunion then I'd better be dead and him on his way to hell!

"What the hell do you want?" I snarled at the douche-bag I'm faced with right now.

"Ah May, that is no way to greet your old pal huh?" Riley replied in his jackass of a voice. Ugh! No words could describe what a jackass he was!

"First of all you douche, my name isn't May and second I'm not your pal okay! Not after what you did I'm not!" I seethed my voice. I couldn't believe this guy!

He chuckled. "You're still as hilarious as ever Renesmee. So how have you been these past years, I know you must've missed me?" He said making circles around me. I gave him a scoff.

"Oh don't flatter yourself Riley, the only people who'd miss your ass is your damned family when you die!" I growled. He sniggered lowly.

"Still as stubborn as ever," He muttered to himself. I glared at him. "So I see you've made a new life here?" He asked. I didn't answer. "Come on, you can't still be holding a grudge for four years now"

"Oh really?" I questioned. "I can hold it for two more years, or better yet 'forever'!" I retorted.

"Look, it wasn't entirely my fault. Demetri instructed me to, I never meant for things to get ugly-"

"Oh yeah, things like killing my boyfriend in that race car of yours? The one you used to 'accidentally' bump into him?" I questioned. His trembling breaths showed he was on the verge of getting angry.

"Look Renesmee. What happened was in the past, we need to forget-" He said but I cut him off.

"Forget?" I asked. "Forget!" I exclaimed angrily. "How can I forget the moment he crashed and getting the phone call that Rex died? Or better yet, the moment I watched those footages on TV! How can I forget Riley?" I shouted at him with tears threatening to fall.

"Well I'm sorry." He said with no sympathy whatsoever. I scoffed once again.

"Too little to late Mister" I said crossing my arms. "I can't believe you're here to justify yourself after killing your 'supposed' best friend!" I added. His eyes began to blaze. Ever since I met Riley, I noticed he had a tendency to get short tempered. Certainly not related to how Rex was.

"It wasn't my fault okay!" He retorted which caused me to flinch slightly. "Don't you wonder how hard it was for me too? Demetri paid me to crash into him. He's the one that killed him."

"And none of you went to jail for it. Hmm, what has the world come to?" I said to myself. He smiled condescending.

"What's it say? That I was sent by him to check up on the love of his life?" He asked changing the subject and continuing his circles around me. My breathing hitched when he said that.

"He is not the love of my life!" I whispered lowly my voice raspy. I couldn't even stand to hear that man's name. Demetri. The asshole I once almost fell in love with in high school. Until he became a jackass and I leaned onto his cousin Rex. He was my first actual 'guy' best friend since freshmen year. He asked me out to the homecoming dance and I agreed.

He then told everyone that we were together but me being the shy girl I was, I didn't do anything about it. He became all possessive of me and I had to do something about it, but heck was he intimidating.

Rex came to my rescue and beat the crap out of him. I always had a crush on him but was afraid of walking up to him. Demetri was angry when he found out that we were dating and threatened that he'd get me back.

After that happened, it ruined the whole relationship between him and Rex. Instead of being cousins, they were sworn enemies.

Time flew and it was certain Rex and I was in love. Demetri yet again was jealous by it and did everything in his power to get his revenge. And he did by finding out that Rex had the opportunity of his dreams. By that time Rex met Riley and they were almost inseparable. And…and I think we all knew what happened next.

"Mmm of course, Rex was 'your night and shining armor'. I think we all knew you'd end up with him. But doesn't seem Demetri's giving up." He said.

"Demetri didn't love me. He only meant to scare me." I told him. Riley shrugged and nodded.

"You could say that. But I think a better word would be 'obsessed' maybe?" He suggested as he came in contacted with my right ear and with his hot breath vaporizing on my skin. I gasped lowly.

"Why don't you guys just kill me now?" I asked him. He chuckled.

"I don't want to kill you. He just wants to be with you." He told me.

"And if I don't then what?" I asked.

"Well that'll be entirely up to him." He chuckled. I rolled my eyes.

"Well whatever's next you won't touch me!" I replied. He simpered.

"Well I guess we'll see won't we?" He replied. I just stared at his dark devil eyes. "How's your daughter?" He asked. My eyes widened. How did he know about that?

"Is there a problem here?" I heard a voice come from behind Riley who was blocking my way. He was smiling at me as he slowly turned around.

"No, there's no problem at all." He replied. He winked at me and disappeared. My eyes were still wide as a window! How could he know about my daughter? Better yet, how could Demetri know?

I finally came back from my transited state to look who came to my rescue. I looked forward to see Sheriff Deaton standing only a few feet away from where I was.

"Are you okay Renesmee?" He asked. Sheriff Deaton has been there ever since I was a child. I've known him for a very long time. As I said before, he was my Grandpa Carlisle's friend.

"Uh-um…yeah I-I'm okay." I whispered lowly not really trusting my voice anymore. He stared at me curiously. I gave him one small smile. "Hey, I thought you were on vacation with your family?" I asked him, trying my best to change the subject. Glad I did!

"Yeah, we just came back. My daughter seemed to have gotten a very strong bug so we took her to the hospital here."

"Oh, I'm very sorry to hear that sir. I hope she'll be okay."

"Yeah, me too" He said sadly. I gave him a sympathetic look. "Anyway, I just stopped by to pick up her favorite toy that she requested for me to get for her." He sighed. I smiled at the grey-haired man.

"I'll keep her in my prayers sir." I told him. He gave me a weak smile.

"Well I'm off now. Greet your family for will ya?" He asked. I nodded at him.

"Will do." I told him.

"And have a good day. Promise not to throw parties like you did all those years ago." He joked as he eyed me. I giggled.

"I'll try not to. Scouts honor." I replied. He nodded and was on his way. I released the breath I was holding in for a very long time. Well today was eventful.

… ….

"Am I getting too close? I'm getting way too closer?" I asked Erica as I stared at the bus that was like a few feet away. Today was Rosie's Blossoms Scouts Camporee. A school event for girl's who dream of being leaders but for Rosie's case; well she's always wanted to be on top. It's like almost a road trip where they do anything to earn badges and this weekend is selling Blossom Scout cookies.

It's almost a week since the encounter I had with Riley and I think I was more cautious and protective then I've ever been with Rosie –and that was saying a lot–I couldn't stand her being in any kind of danger.

"That depends, are you just following the bus or are you planning on mounting it at some point?" Erica asked. Yeah she had a point.

"Yeah I should probably back off." I whispered as I slowed down with the car. She shrugged.

"It also depends…" She began with her brain in thought. "Do you mean the bus or the 3 almost 4 year old daughter you're currently stalking?" She asked. I sighed.

"Well after what happened I'm not letting her out of my sight." I said to her. She nodded as she paged through her iPad. "And by the way, I'm being the protective mother I should be thank you." I said to her.

"That's really, really great Rennie." She replied. "I think that's an amazing example of the perfect 'over-protective' mother you so rightfully are" She said. I just rolled my eyes at my best friend.

"Oh Erica…"

"Hey look at Mr. Harris's profile now! He's still wearing those shitty glasses from High School" She laughed as she showed me a picture of our previous English teacher. I giggled too. He did look funny. The funniness soon died down when I thought of all the possibilities of what could happen this weekend. What if the bus crashed? What if Riley takes Rosie away? Or a bear starts scaring my little baby and all the children? Or some crazy hobo coming out of the bushes drinking all the children's blood like some rouge vampire-

"Is that whole going over-board on being a protective mother literal or more like a general rule?" Erica asked. I frowned in confusion.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"You're running on fumes," She stated. I frowned and checked the gas. Sure enough, the liters were half empty. I gasped. Oh no!

"Yeah, and I'm pretty sure that bus holds a lot more gas than this car." She joked. This wasn't a time for joking Erica!

"What if we stopped?" I said thinking of all the things that could have gone wrong. She just giggled as she paged through her magazine.

"Is that really that big of a deal?" She asked. "So we lose them. We know where they're headed." She told me.

"You weren't there when it happened."

"Yeah but I know what didn't happen." She whispered to herself as she circled some outfits. I stared at her.

"Is that what Nahuel told you?" I teased. She stared back at me?

"Nahuel?" she asked. I shrugged and she chuckled. "Whoa, okay hold on a second. Is that why you invited me on this whole road trip thing?" She asked. I didn't answer. "Omigosh, you're keeping an eye on her and me." She chuckled.

"So there's nothing going on between you two?" I asked.

"I am appalled by the insinuation!" She gasped. I giggled and raised my eyebrow.

"Nothing?" I asked.

"Nothing" She confirmed. I took one good look at her and nodded.

"Alright, if you say so," I replied my voice straining the words. She rolled her eyes.

"Whatever missy"

… …

I decided to pullover because I knew there was no way we'd catch up with that bus. I sighed as I realized that I had to pray that Rosie would be okay this entire weekend. I mean I trust Ms. Brooks' right? Wait do I?

"So what are we going to do now?" Erica asked as we stood outside the car in the damn sun. I shrugged as I watched the cars passing by.

"I don't know Erica. Maybe we should ask for lifts? Or call a tow-truck?" I suggested.

"Oh no, no truck not even in a million years will get to touch my Toyota." She said defensively.

Yes! I know! I didn't get my car back but the mechanic said that there are only a few more patches before it's as good as new so I had to lend Erica's car for today.

"Yeah, we wouldn't want anyone to touch your pride and joy." I rolled my eyes. She gasped.

"Hey! My Toyota is like my own Ralph Lauren bag, he's like my own driving Cranky!" She gasped like she heard the worst insult ever as she hugging her car. "Don't listen to mean Aunt Renesmee my little woozy fuzzy" She said planting a kiss on the car. I rolled my eyes.

"You look silly. You're even scaring the poor old man driving by." I laughed as I the country looking man with a toothpick in his mouth driving a Bobcat van stared at Erica with eyes of strangeness.

"Hey! Don't judge old man! At least my car is more beautiful than that piece trash!" She exclaimed. His eyes widened and I exclaimed a 'sorry, don't listen to her!' back to him.

"Erica you better stop causing a scene or you'll get us both in jail for hurting someone's feelings." I said to her. She nodded.

"Oh right. Sorry!" She said exclaiming the last part to the old man who was long gone. I giggled at my crazy best friend.

So all we did since then was asking for lifts or any person who could possibly have gas lying around in their trunks. I was surprised when we got nobody!

"We shouldn't have come! I knew it we shouldn't have come!" Erica exclaimed.

"We had to! It's safety in numbers."

"Yes and there's also death and kidnapping in numbers Renesmee. It's called a massacre." She said rolling her eyes. I smiled weakly at her.

"Okay, why don't we just go over to the nearest gas station and we'll take it from there." I suggested and she nodded.

We took one of the longest walks to the gas station downtown and we noticed we were beginning to dehydrate.

"I…can't…breath. Need…water…" Erica said trying to summon those words as she began walking slowly. I rolled my eyes.

"It hasn't even been 20 minutes Erica and you're already acting like you're in the desert." I said.

"Try being in a 90 degree area without self-tanning and sun-protection lotion on," She said.

"I'm sure it's not even 90 degrees!" I said laughing.

"Alright fine, let's make that 95!" She replied. I rolled my eyes.

"You ladies want a lift?" I heard a deep voice exclaim from the road. The voice sounded so familiar and I couldn't help but smile when I realized who it was. We both turned around to see Mr. Black in his cruiser as he took a sip of his coffee.

"I don't know. That's if you'd give us one?" I exclaimed back. We were like 16 feet away from each other so it was quite far.

"Well since I'm a highly decorated TDP police officer, I'm sure I can give a ride to two wonderful ladies like you." He replied. I gave him a sheepish smile.

"Oh no we were on our way to the gas station up front so I guess we're okay-" Erica began and I glared at her. "I'm just kidding." She said.

"Well why don't you come up here and let me take you to it." Jacob said to us, motioning his hand for us to come over. I smiled and walked over leaving a struggling Erica behind. Yes she broke her heel!

"Hey there beautiful," He said coming out of his car looking all so dashing in his sleeves police shirt and pants. I think I liked this uniform of his.

"Hey there handsome," I replied as he gave me a kiss on the lips. It was so great kissing Jacob again, I felt complete whenever I was in his arms again and having his warm lips on mine.

"Oh thanks for helping me up in my time of need Renesmee. You're such a great friend!" Erica exclaimed as she limped her way to the car and opening the door. I smiled as Jacob and I pulled away from our wonderful kiss.

Erica released a sigh as she got into the backseat of the cruiser. "Finally," She whispered. "Hey Jakey, can we head to the station now. I think I need to take a leak." She said.

"Damn it Erica. I told you to pee in the bushes!" I told her. She shrugged.

"Well I'm sorry for trying to be hygienic!" She replied in defense. Jake chuckled and I rolled my eyes. He gladly opened the door for me.

"Ma'am" He said motioning for me to enter. I blushed scarlet and entered the car gladly. He went to the other side of car and drove us to the downtown gas station…

… …

Jacob's (POV)

After my shift, I decided that I'd head to the coffee shop Renesmee and I went to for our first date. I smiled as I watched a mother and her daughter sitting on the exact same table Renesmee and I sat at on that day. It reminded me so much of the relationship Renesmee shared with Rosie. She was an amazing mother and I couldn't be much happier than calling her my wife.

Rosie was far from what I expected as well. She is extremely cute! She has so many ambitions for a three year old and all I can just do is stare at her in amazement whenever I see her. I couldn't help but wonder how I'd be if I were a father.

Today was both Embry and I's shift so we decided that'd we'd take off early. He asked if I'd also get him a coffee so that's what I did. I was on my way back to the station when I saw Renesmee and Erica walking on the sidewalk, Erica looking like she was about to literally fall on the spot. I couldn't help but smile when I saw Renesmee looking as radiant as ever.

I offered them a ride to the gas station and they gladly accepted and we drove all the way to there. Erica went straight to the bathroom inside the second we got there.

"So for the embarrassment…again" Renesmee chuckled as we stood on the hood of my car. I smiled.

"No biggie, I've got way more embarrassing friends than Erica. She's actually quite normal for me actually." I said to her. She giggled. Oh I loved that giggle.

"Yeah well that's Erica." She smiled.

"So tell me, what happened with the whole 'walking on the roadway' thing?" I asked. She laughed.

"Well, our car broke down." She said. I nodded. "And we needed gas to revive it."

"Why couldn't you have just called the station?" I asked.

"You know that's a funny thing actually. Both our phones died." She said. I laughed.

"Okay so I guess you couldn't have called me either."

"Well I wanted to but I thought of how busy you might've been so I didn't." She replied.

"I'm glad you're okay." I said wrapping my arm around her shoulder and bringing her closer to me and kissing the side of her face. She locked her fingers with mine that were dangling above her shoulder.

"I've missed you. I wanted to really put your face on a milk carton so I could see you." She whispered. I sniggered.

"I missed you too Renesmee." I replied. I feel so complete with Renesmee right now.

"Alright love birds!" Erica exclaimed as she came over to us. "Sorry to break this cute moment but does anyone know when I'm getting my car back?" She asked. Renesmee and I chucked.

"My friend's bringing it up." I told her. I texted Embry about the situation almost 10 minutes ago and he agreed to help out.

"I don't trust him already." She groaned. "Nobody touches my baby except for me."

"Oh come on Erie, it's just this once, and didn't I touch it?" Renesmee asked.

"Yeah but that's different, I allowed you too." Erica rolled her eyes. "Now my heel is broken too. Ugh! Could this day get any better?" She said sarcastically. That was when Embry pulled up in his truck with Erica's car behind it. He got out of the car and came over to us.

"Hard pumping this old thing to the truck, shame for the owner" Embry laughed. I gave him a signal to shut up because the owner of the car was standing right next to him. He turned to face Erica.

The moment Erica and Embry stared at each other everything just stopped.

"Hi" He said lowly.

"Um…hey"

"I think it's best if you do not leave your keys in the car." He said staring at Erica like he saw the sun for the first time.

"And I think her day just got better." I whispered to Renesmee who was sat wide eyed at what was happening.

"Um…thanks, I'll make a mental not to myself." Erica replied also staring back at Embry with such intensity. Whilst the tension was growing, Renesmee and I realized that if we let this thing go further then they'd literally jump on each other in front of everyone.

"Um, hey Erica, why don't we charge our phones in the car?" Renesmee suggested as she pulled Erica away from Embry and to her car.

"How ya doing brother?" I asked.

"Who the heck was that?"

"That's Erica. Renesmee's best friend whom we never formally introduced you to" I laughed but he was too busy staring back at her and same went for Erica.

"Oh right…" He whispered back.

"Dude, snap out of it! I hear she has a boyfriend!" I told him flicking my fingers at him. He came back to his senses when I said 'boyfriend'.

"Boyfriend?" he asked. I nodded.

"Yeah, Nessie told me she might be dating some old friend of hers." I told him.

"Who's this douche-bag?" He asked. I shrugged.

"Who knows." I said. He stared back at her and I realized then that something was growing. "Damn it Embry! You're not having a boner over her aren't you?" I accused. He just smiled.

… …

Today both Nessie and I were going to the Karaoke bar next to Macy's called Bloodsuckers. Dumb name but I hear it's one of the most pimpest bars in town so we thought why not. I didn't really know why but Embry and Erica decided they wanted to tag along too so we just invited them.

After Renesmee told me about Rosie being on a camping trip, I was ecstatic that I'd get to spend a weekend alone with Renesmee. Don't get me wrong. I adore Rosie but we've never usually had our 'me' time together.

I don't know but Renesmee was a little…off today. I wanted to know why, but I couldn't put my finger on it so I was hoping maybe this little Karaoke thing tonight would brighten up her mood.

We were all sat in the bar listening to horrible singers sing country music.

"Ah no!" we all groaned as we watched the fat guy try to dance as he sang Keith Urbans' "Long Hot Summer".

"His whole butt crack is even showing!" Erica exclaimed as she covered her eyes. "Glad little Rosie isn't here to see this."

"I do believe in gyms! I do believe in gyms!" Embry said to himself.

"Okay you guys, it isn't that bad. I mean, people are designed in their own unique way?" Renesmee said more of a question. I smiled at my girlfriend.

"Yeah right, that isn't designed now that is custom made my friend. He did it to himself!" Erica teased.

"Yeah I mean I like fast foods, I really do but doesn't mean I'd devour the entire store!" Embry said.

"I think I'm going to agree with Renesmee right here, people are different we shouldn't judge." I said wrapping my arm around her shoulder. She smiled at me and laid her head on my chest.

"Oh of course you'd agree with her because she's you little 'girlfriend' but come on. You've got to agree with me on this one, plus he's totally off key, it could even scare rodents away." Erica laughed and so did Embry as they gave each other high-fives. "Hey mister, are you an exterminator?" Erica asked.

"If not then maybe you can 'fart' the rodents away!" Embry added which caused almost the entire room to laugh.

"You guys are absolutely silly. You're judging way too quickly, I'm sure not all of you can sing either." Renesmee said.

"Is that a challenge Masen?" Erica stared at her with her eyebrows raised like in those western movies.

"No" Renesmee said shyly. I frowned. "I'm just saying. Don't judge too quickly." She added.

"I think she's calling up a challenge." Embry confirmed. "Hey bartender, give us some mikes!" Embry exclaimed to him. The bartender nodded and handed them to us.

"Guys…" Renesmee said.

"Oh come on Renesmee. Live a little, it's a Karaoke bar for crying in a bucket. Not all of us can sing." Erica insisted.

"If my girl doesn't want to sing then she doesn't want to sing." I defended Renesmee who smiled at me.

"Yeah okay Jake save it." Embry said. "Come on Renesmee. Just one song?" he asked waving the microphone at her. She stared at it contemplating at first before shaking her head.

"Okay fine. Since its ladies first then I'll go first." Erica said snatching the mike and walking up to the stage. I couldn't help but catch Embry staring at her ass. What a perv!

"This song helped me through a very tough breakup in the past" she said. Erica picked her song which was titled You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi

Shot through the heart!

And you're to blame

Darling you give love a bad name…

Oh, oh, you're a loaded gun (yeah)

Oh, oh there's nowhere to run

No one can save me

The damage is done

Shot through the heart

And you're to blame

You give a bad name (Bad name)

I play my part

And you play your game

You give love a bad name (Bad name)

You give love a bad name

You give love a bad name!

Then she ended the song. Everyone cheered for her at the end. I'll admit she wasn't that bad.

"Now your turn missy" She said handing Renesmee the mike. She shook her head slowly. "Do it! Do it! Do it!" Erica said and the entire crowd mimicked.

"You don't have to do it if you don't want to babe" I said to her. She took a deep breath before taking and walking up to the stage.

"This song is for a certain someone…" She stared at me as she said this. I smiled as I applauded for her,

She told the DJ to hit for a song by Sia and began singing.

My love, leave yourself behind,

Beat inside me, leave you blind.

My love, you have found peace.

You were searching for relief

You gave it all,

Gave into the call

You took a chance and

You took a fall for us.

You came thoughtfully,

Loved me faithfully

You taught me honor,

You did it for me.

Today you will sleep away

You will wait, my love

Now I am strong (now I am strong)

You gave me all

You gave all you had, and now I am whole.

She sang wonderfully. This left the entire crowd speechless with me included. I didn't think she sang that well? Soon enough, we all erupted in cheers and applauded her in standing ovations. She smiled and stepped off of the stages and walked up to us.

"You were amazing." I said to her. She blushed.

"Thanks."

"How come you never told me you could sing like that?" I asked. She shrugged.

"It was nothing really."

"That wasn't just 'nothing' Ness. You were incredible."

"Well my family is quite talented so I guess it's a family thing." She said lowly. I smiled at her.

Renesmee kept surprising me all day. I couldn't help and I know I might kick myself afterwards but I think I've just fallen more in love with her after today. I am in love with Renesmee Masen.
