Pre-Epilogue
Renesmee's POV
After almost three and a half days in the hospital, Rosie's discharge was finally announced. The doctor says she'll recover more when she's in an area that she's happy around, all she really needs to do is take her medicine and get some rest. The doctor said she could go to school as soon as she got better but I'm not risking another incident like this so I'll just be homeschooling her from now on.
I'm sure she wouldn't be able to face the outside world just yet after what almost happened to her and what she saw happen before her eyes. She needs to calm down even if it's just for a while, maybe two-three years.
The atmosphere was a little dull as soon as I walked out of the door with Rosie sleeping in my arms. The people waiting on us were my parents and Erica who stayed the whole time. They stood up as soon as they saw us.
"You guys ready to get outta here? Hospital food stinks!" Erica said throwing her plate into the trashcan and sanitizing her hands. I gave her a small smile.
"How's the little baby-bug?" My mother asked in complete concern as she walked towards me with her arms wrapped around her body. She extended her hand to stroke Rosie's cheek softly.
"She's better I guess. Just a little tired." I said feeling my daughter stir lightly at my mother's touch but not disturbing her deep sleep. Poor baby had one hell of weekend.
My mom smiled warmly and rubbed my temple softly. That's when my dad came into view.
"Are you okay baby?" He asked. I nodded. "You're one strong woman my child." He said kissing my temple. I smiled.
"Rosie's actually the superwoman now." I chuckled. He smiled back.
"I know it's all tense and everything but will somebody tell me what the hell happened?" Eddy said coming into view. I stared back at Erica who had wide eyes then back at my parents who were also interested. Great timing bro!
Embry volunteered to answer but I stopped him.
"Um…well a mug who wanted the money kidnapped Rosie and Jake and Embry were there to save her, then the fire started. It was a total misunderstanding." I said. God! Lying to Jake is one thing but to my family…I just hate it!
"Renesmee, this isn't some 'misunderstanding'. This is something serious; you and Rosie could've died back there." My dad Edward said a little angrily.
"But we're not so…" I said.
"Renesmee, you have no idea how worried we were for both of you." Bella said. "I don't wish obliteration on anyone but I'm glad that person's dead!"
"Nobody's arguing with you here sweetheart but Renesmee, you have to hold up a court case. You need to get your revenge on this person's family or whoever was involved in all of this."
"Hmm. says the person who always taught me to never seek vengeance on anyone but to reward them for having the time to care about me." I laughed.
"You were like 14 when you had a fight with Erica."
"Yeah I can't believe you sprayed me with cream how could you do that? Even if it's the lamest prank anyone has ever committed!" Erica laughed.
"You squirted her with cream? How dare you!" Embry joked pulling Erica to his side. I chuckled softly.
It was fun to know that my family could make me laugh and be happy at a time like this.
"Look the point is. Everything will be okay, Rosie and I will recover from this and I know things will get better."
My parents looked hesitant at first before nodding convinced my choice of reasoning.
"We'll take your word for it but if things get rough. You consult us first from now on right?" My dad said.
"Yes. You're father's right. Don't hide things from us ever again. Understand?"
"Yes mother." I smiled.
"Okay. So how about we get outta here and get you back to your room or are you going back to…?" My mother trailed off. I gave her 'the look' and shook my head. She nodded understanding.
'The look' was a look I'd always give her when things didn't work out, especially relationship wise. She understood that Jake and I just broke up and needed some time to heal from that as well.
"Uh…I think she'll be better off with her best friend don't you think?" She asked no one in particular as she stared back at Erica who was giggling at what Embry whispered in her ear. She nodded. I smiled.
My family soon squirmed out of the hospital after much convincing that I'd be okay. I was now standing with Erica and Embry in the parking lot.
"Um Er, may take Rosie over to the car?" I asked Erica.
She nodded.
"Sure," She replied taking her from my arms and giving Embry a small nod before walking over to his car.
"You lied again." He simply said. I sighed.
"I know and I feel terrible but there's a reason why. I foresaw a whole lot of drama. My dad could seem like a chill dude now but he's one of the most over-protective people on this earth and if he found out Riley had everything to do with it. He'll turn his head over to me then Jake for not protecting me and I'm pretty damn sure he'd kill him. He would literally overlook the fact I caused the mess and slash Jake's throat even though he was also left out of the dark. I love Jake too much for him to suffer that." I confessed with a small chuckle at the end. He nodded understandingly.
"You really love this dude don't you?" Embry asked.
"With all my heart but…" I said and trailed the words away.
"You cannot be with him anymore." He finished the sentence for me.
"He doesn't need me anymore. He'll be fine I'm sure of that." I said. I truly hope I was right. "You promise not to utter a word to him right?" I questioned.
"My lips are sealed baby." He said. I smiled. I could honestly say I approved of Embry already, he was one of my best friends and I know is perfect for Erica.
Embry dropped us off at Erica's. Erica told him to stay the night. Let's just say, I had to close my bedroom door and put ear puffs on Rosie and I and put hoodies on because...you really don't want to know.
The next day I decided I'd head over to the grocery store to pick up some things then it hit me. Riley said something about Rex's death not being real...whatever that meant. And I then I thought, maybe he meant Rex's dreams weren't fulfilled that's why he said it wasn't real. I had to change that.
I didn't belong here. I mean not the grocery store but here in Tacoma...I needed a fresh start and I was hoping to start somewhere new.
It seems like every second that I'm here, I'm not fulfilling the dream Rex wanted for Rosie and I. He's always wanted us to be happy and right now we're completely opposite. I really hoped moving from here would change that.
So without consulting anybody, I packed Rosie and I's things the moment I got to Erica's and drove to the cemetery where Rex lay and we paid our respect and love to him.
"Mom, why are you crying?" Rosie asked.
All of this was getting emotional to me. Not only because we'd be leaving Tacoma and Rex but because Rosie won't be able to understand why we're leaving since she loves this place so much.
"No reason baby," I said to her as I kissed her head. I've started getting used to the fact that my four year old daughter has the mental capacity of a 8 year old. People can't fathom how her speech adulation's so matured for her age, but me, I take pride to say 'That's my daughter Rosie for you'.
After a few more minutes at Rex's grave, we got into the care and was back on the road.
I just needed to make one more pit stop before we left.
I took the keys out and unfurled the door when I realized Jake wasn't around. All I wanted was to pick up some things for the move. And I had to do it fast because I really didn't want to have a reunion with Jake any time soon. I don't want to feel even worse then I felt now.
"Mommy, where's Uncle Jake?" Rosie asked as she noticed he wasn't around. I sighed and bent down to her length.
"He'll be back but…we won't be around when he gets here." I told her. She frowned.
"Why mommy?" she asked.
"You'll understand later in life. Okay now let's get going." I told her.
After leaving the note on his kitchen counter with the locket my mother gave me as a child, Rosie and I left. It'll get me in trouble because my mom got me it for Christmas and it was very special to her. But I thought Jake needed it more than I did so I gave it to him. I really hope he likes the one piece he can hold on our relationship, just to give him a sense of assurance that I do still love him and always will and that I was sorry for the wrong I've done to him.
After a few hours on the road, we finally reached Forks Washington. The traffic was crazy today.
I pulled up the driveway of the one place that could possibly take my mind off of everything.
Rosie and I got out of the car and sauntered our way up to the houses porch. I rang the bell and the person opened the door a minute later. I smiled widely.
"Renesmee?" my Grandfather Charlie greeted me in shock.
"Surprise!" I said.
… …
Jacob's POV
Embry and I drove back to my house after a long night shift and by night shift I meant the sheriff asked if I could at least do one more shift since he offered my job back after saving two lives three days ago and I declined it and the only way I could make him feel better was doing my last case. I was hesitant at first but I was like 'What the heck! It's not like I have any meaning in life right now so why not?' and I accepted it gruffly.
I remember it vividly…
Flashback (To 23 hours ago)
"Dude, I heard y'all broke it off!" Embry said entering my house. I rolled my eyes as I lay on the couch on my bare chest, eating a bowl Cheerios and watching some sad love story called Pretty Woman. Sure Embry, why not come in however you'd like! I thought to myself.
"Gee dude! You look like you just woke up on the streets." He commented looking at my physical state. I just sighed.
"What do you want?" I replied gruffly. "You should've just left me alone in my state."
He snickered.
"I should probably call your girlfriend Nessie to give you one hell of a shower because dude you stink!" He teased. I just rolled my eyes. "Oh wait, you don't have one anymore!" He said in utter shock. I skimmed my eyes angrily at him then widened them.
"Have you heard from her?" I questioned in hopefulness. I haven't heard from Ness in the past day. She hasn't returned any of my calls, I mean I get she broke up with me but you could at least return my calls and texts so you could give me a sense of assurance that you're okay!
He just shook his head and took a seat on the couch. I sighed in disappointment. His expression told me otherwise, he was hiding something but I didn't have the energy or good will to say anything about it.
"You grew a beard already!" He exclaimed in shock. I moved hand to feel my jaw and I could feel the rough hair growing. I shrugged. "Dude this breakup thing's really hitting you hard. I mean I don't think its work appropriate you know. Sheriff's going to freak."
"News flash dude but I don't have a job anymore."
"I don't know dude. The Sheriff was persistent you get back on board tomorrow. He wants you back and won't take no for an answer. You'll make him happy at this state…" He replied sadly.
The Sheriff's daughter died not so long ago and I couldn't imagine how he'd felt losing his child, I mean I should know. Yes! That psychopathic dude Riley was right about my past. Leah had terminated our child just out of being afraid of being a mother at a young age. But who gave her the right not to consult me first! That's the reason why I needed a change and why I needed to leave, so I went to college a few months later and found myself her in Tacoma a few years later.
"I can't," I simply replied as I turned back to the screen and my meal.
"I get that you're still trying to recover your breakup dude but come on, if Erica and I broke up right now I wouldn't be sulking like how you're showcasing at this moment!" He said.
I didn't answer him as I just continued eating and taking a drink of my whiskey. I never drank but who the fuck cares now!
He sighed.
"You always felt good saving lives dude why the sudden change now. You can hate me for saying this but screw Renesmee Fucking Masen! You're Jacob mother-fucking Black for crying out loud. You never miss an opportunity for looking good. So we're going to get you in a shower, get that ugh off your face and get your shit together and have some drinks with the boys."
"It's just this once?" I asked. He nodded convincingly. I sighed. "Alright." I said plopping off the couch and grabbing my shirt. He grinned happily.
"Dude, you really need to hit the gym after this," He said staring at my body and shaking his head disapprovingly.
Everyone around La Push back home were fit, I guess it's genetic.
I stared down at my body to see my eight-pack was still completely visible. I just rolled my eyes and threw a pillow at him.
"Please," I said. He sniggered.
And after taking a shower, I called the Sheriff.
End of Flashback
So I actually pushed Embry to end his duty quickly so I could get home. I was hoping I could catch her since I knew Rosie was discharged this morning. Entering the house I was totally not expecting to see.
Nobody…
Renesmee or even Rosie's scent didn't ring the air like it used to when I always came back from work.
"So, Brady wants us all over this weekend for his Bachelor Party. Quil and Seth are already over there now and we're the only ones stuck here in this dump." Embry said from behind as he followed me into the catch and laying the burgers from Buffalo Wild Wings and Blazin Onion. I bet you're wondering why we went to two burger places at once but Mr. Picky Call over hear wasn't decisive on which burger suits him. Sometimes he acts like a woman! I wonder what Erica sees in him…honestly.
"That's great Em," I replied with lack of interest as I skimmed my eyes through the house in hopes to find Renesmee walking down the hall any second.
"Searching the house won't make her appear dude."
"Tell that to Erica!" I snarled as I opened my pantry. At this point I'll ever look under the microwave.
"Ooh burn!" Embry said. "I'm so hurt!"
I rolled my eyes.
"No sign of her anywhere." I said as I turned back to Embry.
"Well I'm not too sure about that…" He began. I frowned. "Look what she left." He said showing me the note he found on the counter. I snatched it away from him and opened it and began reading.
I was meaning to tell you this face to face but there is no better way to say this but…I've left Tacoma, for good this time…I just came to drop this note off.
There'snothing else to say but take care Jacob. Rosie and I are better where we are and I really hope you are. Don't come after us because I know Rosie and I will be fine…without you. I-I got you this gift that got me a lot of trouble from my mom but you deserve it more than I do…
I'll never forget you Jacob Black…
Bye…
The note came with a locket attached to it. I opened it to see a picture of Renesmee and I in the park on one side and the other with Rosie sleeping in my arms.
"What does it say?" Embry asked.
"She's not coming." I murmured.
"But she's still coming to get her thinks and give you a kiss right?" He asked with a chuckle.
"No she's not coming back at all!" I exclaimed as I threw the note at him. He took it and read it.
"Shame man," He replied awkwardly not know what to say.
I sighed as I jumped onto the counter held my face in my hands.
"Hey man," He said coming over and giving me a soft punch on the arm. I looked at him.
"You and me had a deal remember?" He said. "That we wouldn't let any girl get into our heads,"
"Yeah but this isn't any girl Em. This is Nessie."
"I get that. You've been through a lot with her but…maybe it's for the best for now. She's been through a lot in her life and maybe being alone at this point is all she needs and so do you. Don't think of this as goodbye…think of it as 'see you later' because I know you both will wind back to each other. You two are meant for each other but from now on…it's you and I and all our friends at Brady's bachelor party this weekend alright!"
"Well, I'm not planning on missing a party." He said. Embry smiled widely and slapped my arm.
"That's my boy,"
I shouldn't sit here and sulk all my life because of a broken hard that couldn't be mended unless I had Renesmee again. Embry was right, we will get back together someday, but this was just God's way of saying…not yet.
Maybe this Bachelor Party in La Push would take my mind off of everything.
…...
I followed Embry as we sauntered our way into the bar where loud music was pumping.
Ah…La Push Washington Reservation Local Bar. The ole' place our parents use to party.
It was a Quileute tradition that all the ares of the men who are on their way to the alter should party in this specific bar. It's not really a tradition but it seems like all the Quileute men followed it.
Embry and I sauntered our way past the heavy crowd to the center where we watched Brady already get waisted on the dancefloor with a stripper straddling him. He was shouting out in happiness. I sniggered at the sight whilst Embry took a video of it and was going to upload it on YouTube. I'm sure Alliyah; the girl he's marrying will have something to say to that.
"Come on, let's get some drinks." Embry insisted as he wrapped his arm around mine and pulling me to the bar stand. "Yo Bartender, hand us the best shots you got!" He said.
"I shouldn't be drinking Embry-"
"Ah, ah, I brought you here to forget about everything. So you're drinking no matter what." He warned. I sighed knowing I lost that battle.
The bartender handed us our drinks and Embry chucked it down like it was his only water to survive.
"Dude,"
"I came to get drunk, mister, and so should you." He said patting my shoulder and began heading over to the dancefloor.
Maybe he was right. I should just forget and let loose.
"Jake, my man," Jared's voice ringed my ears as he threw his arm around me.
"Ugh dude! Your breath reeks!" I exclaimed fanning the unwanted air away. He sniggered drunkenly.
"It's not like Kim's around to scold me so who the fuck cares! Party man! There's like millions of chicks here! I can hook you up with one if you'd like?" He asked. I shook my head and signaled to the beer in my hand.
"This is all I need tonight." I told him.
Then something hit me. I frowned when I felt a feeling stir inside of me, the feeling of longing for something…or should I say someone. It all started ever since I came here. Maybe it's because I've been thinking about Renesmee a lot and I'm like 30 minutes away from her hometown. I needed to get out of here because being here was so surreal to me. I came back to La Push determined to fully forget about Ness but I can't, there's no way I can do that.
It was great seeing my family and the boys again but I needed to leave.
"Uh I gotta go." I said to Jared then threw some cash on the table and leaving the room.
"Oh gee! Leave me alone! Some friend you are Black!" Jared called back.
I left the bar and jumped into my car and drove back to Tacoma…
… …
Renesmee's POV
"Okay Ness! I'm heading out." My grandfather informed me as he came into the living room where Rosie and I were watching her favorite show. He was all handsomely dressed up in a suit.
"You look mighty dashing grandpa. Why all dressed up?" I asked him.
"Oh no reason but let's just say I'll be seeing a very close friend of mine for dinner tonight." He replied grabbing his coat. I squealed.
"Ooh. My grandfather's going on a date!" I exclaimed as I got off the couch and ran up to him. He rolled his eyes.
"I'm way too old for that jazz. It's not a date, it's just too adults getting together to get to know each other better." He said.
"Um…I hate to break it to you Grandpa but that's a date." I said to him. He smirked in realization.
"Well I guess it's a date them." He stated with a chuckle. I smiled.
"Well have fun mister." I said adjusting his tie and collar. I adjusted his gray hair. "And I want you back before mid…never mind that, you can come anytime you'd like. She's a very lucky woman." I said.
"It's not like I'm marrying her." He chuckled.
"You never know!"
"I'm 66 years old kid. I won't be marrying anytime soon." He said. I rolled my eyes. "Don't burn the house down!"
I smiled back at him.
It was great being with my grandfather again. I haven't seen him in like ages and for the past day I can honestly say I'm happier now that I'm around him and back in Forks. It could take my mind off of everything and…Jacob. Maybe the pull I was feeling now was because I missed this place so much.
The phone vibrated on the counter and I reached for it to answer the call. Erica. Oh god no!
"Hey Erica, how are you?"
"Where the hell are you?!" Erica asked in complete frantic. I laughed.
"I'm fine too thanks for asking. Some friend you are." I replied with fake disappointment. I could literally hear her eye roll.
"I could be saying the same about you! You had everybody worried sick! How could you run off like that?" She shouted.
"Don't be such a worry-bug Rica. I just needed some time off."
"Okay I get this breakup got to you but please don't just run off like that. Wherever you are I really hope you're safe." My best friend said in concern. I smiled at her.
It was great my friend still cared. We talked for a few more hours until my grandfather came back and we talked all about his little 'date'…
… …
Jacob's POV
I found myself driving all the way from La Push back to Tacoma Washington for about 6 hours straight.
Brady's Bachelor Party was great but something about being there didn't feel right to me...well I'd be lying, so actually everything about being there felt right.
There was something pulling me there, like there was something that belonged to me and I so darn wanted to reach for it. But if it wasn't Nessie then there's nothing else I needed.
When I reached the traffic lights and I was about to turn at Pine Street but found myself turning at Gunnison Streat instead. I didn't know why I took that route but that was what my conscience told me.
Anyway, I drove through the streat and past by a group of kids playing soccer. I smiled remembering the time I used to play that with the boys back then.
I then drove by them to the orphange foster care home where I saw a few kids running around. I never really acknowledged this place before every time I drove by.
I parked my car on the parking area and began sauntering my way up to the Foster Home. I stopped when a very small little girl came up to me.
"Hi!" She exclaimed with a huge smile spread across her face. She looked about 6-7 years old yet she was so petite you could literally carry her entire body with one hand. Well I could.
"Hello cutie pie." I said to her as I pinched her cheeks. God! I never was this maternal but I don't know..
"I'm Kate. I come from Ohio but my parents died when I was 2 months old. I'm 6 years old! May you adopt me?" She asked hopefully, batting her beautiful silvery blue eyes. Oh god! I didn't no what to say at a situation like this.
"I wish I could little munchkin but I'm all out of cash." I said to her as I emptied my pockets. She pouted. "But I will tell you that the next time I come here, you'll probably taken away from me by some family."
Her eyes bulged.
"You reall think so?" She asked in excitement.
"Yeah and I'm quite angry about it." I said. She giggled.
"I won't allow them sir." She said. I smiled at her.
"Katy!" A girl called over her. Kate looked at her then back at me. I smiled.
"Go get em squirt." I told her. She smiled widely then began running to her friend. I smiled.
"Um...Hello," I heard a high-pitched voice reach my ears but this time it sounded more matured. I turned to my side to see a woman standing beside me with her hand extended.
"Uh...Hey," I said.
"I'm Meagan," She said. I took her hand and shook it.
"Jacob," I said giving her my signature smile that Ness...Don't think about her Jake!
She bit her lip softly and skimmed her eyes up and down my body. I suddenly felt extremely awkward extremely fast.
"So what brings a handsome tiger like you around these parts?" She asked adjusting her collar so she showcased a little cleavage of her oversized breasts. I chucked awkwardly.
"Umm... Nothing I guess, I really don't know why I'm here." I said in confusion. Why was I here anyway?
"Well maybe I could help you with your little problem?" She insisted as she began trailing her index finger on my bicep. I sniggered. "Oh wow! It's like a watermelon god!" She said with a squeaky laugh as she felt my muscles. I smiled back but I'm sure it came out as a grimace.
I turned my attention - which wasn't at her - onto the boy playing with his baseball bat and ball. He hit the ball too hard and it went flying over to me. It dropped to the ground luckily missing me and I bent down to pick it up.
"Um, excuse me," I said to Meagan. I really wasn't expecting an answer so I just continued walking over to the boy who threw his bat onto the ground and began kicking it.
"Hey, slow down dude. Or you'll break a joint." I said to the little man. He turned his head to face and all I could see were his bright green eyes of sadness reach mine. His eyes widened and I widened mine as soon as I realized who he was.
"It's you?"
"I'm sorry Mister. I didn't mean to dig in your trashcan. I was just looking for my baseball." He said sadly as he stared down at his feet.
"It's okay little man." I said ruffling his hair. He smiled widely at me before losing his grin. I frowned. "What's wrong buddy?"
"Nothing," He said then ran off. I furrowed my eyes.
"That's Zaylin. He came to live with us two months after his birth. He's always bitter because all his life he watched his friends get adopted and no one did to him. He failed the pre-up interview because he was afraid nobody would like him since he feels bad for killing his mother as a baby and his father's nowhere around. So for the past six years of his life he's spent all his time locked up in his room and playing his baseball. He doesn't verbalize it but I know he really wants a family." A middle-aged woman stood next to me as we watched the kid Zaylin bounces the ball as he sat on the step looking all gloomy.
I felt sorry for the little man, all his life he's been alone and I could imagine not having a mother around. I wish I could figure out a way to make him feel like he'd never be alone.
That he'd never feel like he didn't belong with a family…
... …
6 Months Later
Renesmee's POV
It's been about 6 months since I left Tacoma for Forks and I have to say I'm a lot happier than I was 6 months ago. It was great staying with my Grandfather Charlie. He didn't hover about curfew or anything like that, I mean I was an adult anyway.
He adored Rosie more so then he used to and that says a lot. Charlie had always loved kids, I really don't know why he and Renee stopped at only Bella, or why he never remarried. Maybe this so called "friend" of his has something to atest to that.
"I'm heading over to the office right now. You can do whatever you'd like but all I want from you is to not burn the house down." He said. I chucked at his same old line. My grandpa was the best.
I was currently in the kitchen making hot chocolate for myself. December weather was always terrible and still is. But it was great spending every minute with my Grandfather. It would probably mark the first time I've ever spent Christmas without my family from the other side but it was still great spending it with Charlie and his colleagues and other friends.
I've also grown to like one of his female colleagues, Zafrina, she was his Secretary so I got to see a lot of her whenever I brought Charlie coffee.
Erica would be quite pissed right now that I'm hanging around other people but I'd assure her nobody would take her place.
Speaking of Erica, she and Embry made it official that they're moving in together. About time they did because I don't think they ever stay apart from each other. Things are getting from just flirtatious to serious I'm guessing.
"I'll try not to." I chuckled. "Plus I have a four year old curious daughter so I doubt I'd ever suceed."
He sniggered.
"Anyway, you're mom called. Informing me that there's some family gathering happening on New Years' Eve and wished actually demanded for us to come so..."
I took a sip of my drink. Did I want to go back to Tacoma yet? I mean I did miss everyone there but was I really ready to enter that place again? I really didn't know.
"Um...I don't know but why not." I said reluctantly. "I mean it's been long and I do miss everyone."
"I think it's best. And Bella wouldn't take no for an answer anyway." He said. I smiled at my granddad.
"So when are we heading over there?" I asked.
"On Wednesday," He replied as he took a sip of his coffee that I made for him. I widened my eyes.
"That's tomorrow!" I exclaimed. It was New Years Eve tomorrow. He chuckled at my expression.
"Uh yeah…Bella knew you might not have made it so she said I should drag you down there myself." He said. I rolled my eyes. "But come on. You've spent Christmas without your family so I think this is the least you could do. Even if you don't want to step foot in Tacoma yet…"
I sighed. My Grandfather was right. Why did he have to be so right?!
"Fine," I replied. He smiled then pecked my forehead.
… …
Charlie, Rosie and I reached Tacoma after his shift the next day. We stopped by the gas station to get the car refilled one fumes.
"We should probably get some snacks for the family. It'll be completely inappropriate to just waltz over with nothing in our hands." He said handing me $30. I chuckled.
"It's on me gramps!" I told him. He smiled back and I began walking into the mini gas store. I grabbed two packets of crisps, some soda, and a 500ml bottle of Dr. Thunder.
When I was reaching for the water, I heard a voice that was extremely familiar to me, a voice that I loved hearing every day. Oh my god! Could it be Jacob?!
"What drink would you like little man?" He asked someone. I tilted my head to my side to see Jacob talking to a kid who stood beside him. My eyes widened.
"Anything you're drinking." The little boy replied back to him. Jake chuckled.
"Come on, it's New Years Eve. It's your turn to pick." Jake replied. Who could that child be? And why was Jake even here? But who am I to say that. It's a local place but…why today?
"How about some Cola dad?" he asked.
I widened my eyes in complete and utter shock. Did the kid just call Jacob dad?
"Sure Zay," Jacob replied then reached for the drink. I grabbed the water quickly and began squirming away before Jake noticed me. "Nessie?" I heard him call out.
I closed my eyes and cursed myself for not walking away faster. I slowly turned around to face him.
"Jake?" I exclaimed in fake shock. "I-I did not see you there! What-what a coincidence."
"Uh…yeah I guess." He said then we stood there in an awkward stance. "It's good to see you again." He said giving me an awkward hug. I laughed and returned the hug.
"Same."
"So uh…you're back?" He asked as we pulled away.
"Um yeah, I came to visit the fam for New Years." He told me. He nodded understandingly.
"That's good really good."
"Anyway, how have you been?" I asked him. He shrugged.
"I'm good and yourself?" He replied. I nodded with a smile.
"Good."
"So anything new in your life?" he asked.
"Ah nothing much, I got a job as a dance instructor at a local dancing studio." I told him. He widened his eyes.
"That's really good. That was your dream right?" He said I nodded. "I'm really happy for you Nessie." He said sincerely with his gorgeous grin. I blushed at the sight.
"But enough about me, I see you're doing okay?" I told him as I motioned to the uniform he was wearing. He was wearing an Auto Body Repair shop shirt that said Jessie's repair shop. He looked at his badge and nodded.
"Uh yeah, I opened a small garage downtown not so long ago no biggie." He said shrugging it off.
"You finally opened it?" I exclaimed. He nodded laughing at my expression.
"I kinda took your advice and opened it with my investment savings account. It helped a lot."
"And the business is booming?" I asked.
"You could say that." He sniggered. I smiled happily and felt the tears threatening to fall. God I was so proud and happy for Jake.
"I am so proud of you Jake." I told him. I didn't realize what happened next but I felt my hand reach up to his forehead and I stroked his hair. I pulled my hand away quickly. Oh my god! Why did I just do that?
"I'm sorry," I said with a small laugh. He joined in.
"It's okay," He said wrapping his free arm around the six year old boys shoulder. The boy was incredibly cute! He had spiky dark chestnut hair and sandy green eyes but also looked brownish when out of the light. He was extremely beautiful.
"And you're a dad?" I asked him as I greeted the boy. He smiled back.
"Uh you could say that. This is Zaylin; I took him in from the Foster home in Gunnison."
"Oh you mean Becky's?" I asked.
"Yeah, so I realized he so badly wanted to be live a normal life with a family. Even if it meant just the two of us, I'm just taking him in until his ready for college or something for whatever he wants to pursue." He explained.
I smiled. That was the sweetest thing I've ever heard in all my life. I knew how badly Jake wanted to be a father even though he didn't verbalize it. I could see it the way he interacted with Rosie.
"That's really sweet Jacob. I'm really happy for you." I told him. He smiled.
"Thanks Ness, I hope Rosie's okay now?"
"Yeah she's great thanks." I said. He nodded. "Uh I think I better get going. My grandpa might be getting a little impatient." I said with a laugh and went to the cashier to pay for the snacks.
"Oh wait Ness!" He called back. I turned back to face him. "Merry Christmas and Happy New Years,"
"You too Jacob." I said with a small smile and left the store and walked back to the car.
It was great seeing Jake just really hard saying goodbye again but…I think it's for the best. I'm glad he's at a happy state which in return made me happy.
… …
"Ready?" Alice asked all of us.
We were all standing at the Lakebay sea side shore. I don't know why we were standing there but what would you expect from Alice Cullen-Whitlock
"Yes!" we all replied in unison. She squealed then cut the red ribbon off and we were face with the most beautiful cruise ship we've ever seen.
"Whoa!" Erica commented in surprise. "This is by far the best surprise your family has thrown upon us. If Graham Crackers fall off the sky I'd literally die! I wonder if they can rent Robin Thicke ooh and Ryan Seacrest!"
I chuckled.
"This is amazing Alice!" My mother said.
"You're making this one special event Alice." My grandmother commented.
"Uh huh um Alice…this is amazing but isn't this a little too much for New Years Eve?" I asked her. She gasped.
"I'm appalled by the insinuation! You should be happy we're allowing you here after your little stunt." She said. I chuckled. "It's 2015! There is no way I'm not making it the best New Years Eve ever!" She exclaimed. I laughed. "Now, behold the one and the only! New Years Eve Party of the Century! Alice in Wonderland!" she exclaimed.
"Oh genius!" Emmett exclaimed sarcastically. We laughed and began walking into the ship to see that everyone was having fun. Our entire family and relatives were the partying like there was no tomorrow. Even Karaoke try-outs were uttered around the family. We stunk!
Nahuel came over, Erica and I as we watched the children play with each other. Rosie seemed to enjoy being around her cousins and friends again.
"Hey Renesmee and Erica," He said greeting me. We smiled back at him. He looked at Erica who gave him a nod. I didn't know what that exchange meant but I just shrugged it off. "Alice's looking for you outside."
"Um…sure," I said and handed Erica my drink before heading out of the door and standing at the edge of the balcony to stare at the scenery of the waters as I waited for Alice. The door opened and I turned around to see if it was Alice but I was disappointed to see nobody. I slowly turned my body back to the sea realizing I was just hearing things.
"It's beautiful out there huh?" A husky voice reached my ears. I screamed out.
"Don't sneak up on me like that." I said pushing Jake to the side. He chuckled.
"Sorry,"
"What are you doing here?" I asked him.
"Your aunt invited me." He told me. I rolled my eyes. Of course she would. "I can go if you want me to?"
"No, no…it's okay. Stay." I told him as I gripped his wrist gently. I immediately felt the strong jolt of electricity I felt the first time I met him and everytime we touched. I knew he felt it too. I moved my hand quickly away from him and stared back at the scenery.
"The parties great huh?" he asked. I nodded.
"All Alice's party are great. I remember my Graduation Party." I laughed.
"Where your Uncle stood in a Speedo and danced to Maroon 5?" He said. I giggled.
"Yeah," I said. I soon trailed off with the laughing when I turned serious. "Look Jake. You don't have to be here if you don't want to. I mean, you didn't have to accept it."
"You're right. I didn't. But I wanted to be here." He said taking a step closer to me. I smiled and moved the other side.
"I don't know why you're even talking to me for what I did to you. You probably hate me,"
"Renesmee I don't hate you." He said a little annoyed at my choice of words.
"Oh Jake come on. I broke your heart a million times to even count and I lied to you. There's no way you'd like me after that."
"You did it to protect me right?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yes but-"
"And you still love me right?" He asked as he took a step forward. I blushed and just sighed.
"Jake…don't do this." I told him. "I know you've got anger inside you and I get that. You deserve someone way better than me. You and I live in shades of grey, and-and I know what we had; will always be special to us… I mean it will for me but…we have to go our separate ways. All I want from you is to just forgive me for my selfishness?" I asked him. He didn't answer for a few seconds before shaking his head.
"I don't think I'll ever forgive you for what you've done to me Renesmee." He said. I nodded. I deserved that.
"Okay, I think I'll just be on my way." I said turning around and heading for the door. He grabbed me by the arm and spun me around.
"I said I would never forgive you for what you did." He said then reached for his pocket and began pulling something out of it. "But I'm willing to forget and overlook that." He said pulling out a black velvet books with the initials R+J Forever. He then opened it to show an 18 carat pale blue diamond ring. It was engraved in a forever sign. My eyes widened in complete shock. He didn't do what I just thought he did.
"But in order to do that, I was really hoping I'd give you a second chance if you give me a second chance?" He said bending down on one knee and pulling my hand and inserting the ring. It fit perfectly and I swear to God I saw it shine in the spotlight. Tears were slowly trickling off my cheek.
"Marry me, Renesmee Masen?" He murmured.
I felt myself move my lips but nothing came out. This was too much of a surreal moment to me. I probably couldn't move my hands. Oh god! No!
"Don't leave the poor guy hanging! Say yes!" Erica's voice ringed my ears. The words came rushing through my brain and I just let them out.
"Yes," I mumbled inaudibly. Jake's smile brightened and he got up from his knee and picked me up from the ground and spun me around in the air. He set me onto the ground and stared down at me. I could see a small tear fall off his cheek.
"You don't know how happy you said yes. Mrs. Renesmee Black." He said happily. I giggled through my tears.
"I think we'll have to wait until that's official but I do like the sound of that." I replied.
That's when we heard applause reach our ears. We spun around to see our entire family cheering as they watched the whole thing.
"You guys all knew?" I asked. They nodded.
"Well actually the only people who knew were Jake, Erica, Edward and I. Everyone was shocked just like you were."
"How did you plan this?"
"It was all planned today when I met up with you at the Gas Station. I knew the connection we had was strong and I knew today was the day so…yeah." Jake said with a smile. I smiled back at my boy…I mean fiancé.
"We're so happy for you Renesmee." My mother said looking emotional. My dad was behind her.
"Take care of my daughter Jacob Black." He said. Jacob then looked down at me with a proud smile.
"I would never let her out of my sight." He said with his signature grin that made me blush.
"So!" Erica began. "Aren't you going to kiss her?" She asked. We chuckled then Jake moved his hands to cup my face and brought it to his in a wonderful kiss. Six months without kissing those soft lips was like torture but now…I'm so complete.
We suddenly heard two loud feet running up to us and wrapping their arms around our legs and waists in a hug. Jake and I chuckled as we pulled away to stare down at our kids.
"Hey," Jake and I laughed. Jacob subsequently picked Rosie up in his arms and I wrapped my arm around Zaylin's shoulder.
"I guess you'll be my mother now?" He asked me.
"That depends if you want me too?"
"I always knew you'd be," He said hugging my waist. Oh god! I literally fell in love with him that instant. Jacob smiled at us.
"So glad you're my daddy now!" Rosie exclaimed hugging Jake's neck.
I was glad too Rosie, I was glad too.
"Oh I'm just going to lose it!" My mother's cracking voice ringed our ears.
"Hold it together sweetheart, hold it together." My dad comforted her. We all laughed.
Jake and I's eyes interlocked again once more and he leaned down to give me another kiss. The whole crowd wolf-whistled and he and I laughed. We kissed again when the fireworks hit and this time making it long-lasting without family completed. Well almost…
