Thanks for reading! R&R
A few days went by as Crystal tried to think of the best way to take down Nightmare, but somehow nothing came to mind, because the moment she thought of her father, fear tried to engulf her.
"Crystal," Sierra said, catching her attention quickly.
"What?" She asked, confused.
"Tomorrow's our birthday. Did you forget?" Sierra said worriedly. "I was lost on the days, and I didn't think to tell them when our birthday was when we were talking about it all.
"Shit," Crystal cursed, putting a hand to her forehead. "I'll find a way to at least give us an advantage." She stood up and walked off from her sister.
"Jay," Crystal said, touching her elbow to grab her attention quietly.
Jay beamed as she looked at Crystal, opening her arms ready to tackle hug her. Crystal held up a hand and put it to Jay's shoulder, keeping her back. "What? What? What? What? What?"
Crystal couldn't help but get a smile on her face as she looked at the girl who was vibrating in spot because she couldn't jump up and down with Crystal holding her down. "I have a special mission for you." Jay began to squeal before Crystal clamped her hand over her mouth and put a finger to her lips. "Shh." Jay nodded quickly. "That serum you were talking about, we know it works now. I know it was my father trying to pry into my mind, and that serum stopped him."
"I know! We created it for that reason." Jay said with a proud smile, happy about their own creation that worked so well.
"I need you to somehow get the others to….intake it." Crystal said, rotating her wrist looking for the word.
"Why not just ask them to let me give it to them?" Jay asked confused.
"Knowing them, they'll think they can keep him out of their minds themselves without the serum." Crystal pointed out. "I know better than that. We need to make sure they all take the serum to help keep him out. If we're not careful he can take over their bodies and use them against us."
Jay furrowed her brows, not liking the idea of having to fight her friends or her brother because of Nightmare. "Got it. I'll get them to take it. The League too?"
"As many as you can get," Crystal said with a nod, finding that addition smart. "They'll be more wary than Young Justice."
Jay smirked, finding this as a challenge game that she was excited to win. "I'll do it,"
Crystal smiled and hugged Jay quickly before letting her go and nodded. "Thanks." Jay smiled back at her before jogging off and starting on her mission.
"What was that about?" Wally asked, walking up beside her.
Crystal linked her hands behind her back and put on a smile as she watched Jay. "Just reassuring her that what she did was a good choice and not to dwell on it."
"Yeah, she was pretty worried about it," Wally agreed.
Crystal clenched her hands together tightly and clenched her teeth slightly. She hated lying to Wally of all people and having to hide this from him was already eating her insides. But she couldn't risk telling him and him feeling offended by it, or him telling the others about the plan.
"I wonder why Jay and Andrew are so interested in being a part of the fight." Wally said, making Crystal finally look at him.
She opened her mouth to answer him, but stopped and clamped it shut again. She furrowed her brows in confusion, trying to think of a reason why they would want to be part of it. Even Batman told them they should stay out of it because they were in training, yet they were both adamant about being one of the people to fight him.
"Andrew!" She called him, making him look over and walk to them.
"What's up?" He asked, wondering what his brother and his girlfriend could want.
"I was wondering…" Crystal stopped, wondering if she really should ask him. But her curiosity got the better of her. "Why are you and Jay so hooked on wanting to be part of this even though it's so dangerous?"
Andrew tensed up before shuffling his feet, and sucking in a breath. "Personal reasons," He told her, his eyes showing no waver in his answer.
Crystal felt like there was more, but could tell it was something she shouldn't pry too far into it. She nodded, showing her retreat from it. "Alright,"
Wally seemed to be a bit more unable to accept just that answer. She didn't blame him; after all it was his little brother he was worrying about. She linked her hand with his, tugging him along with her. Wally glanced at her, and then at his brother who had downcast his eyes to the floor. He sighed and let her pull him away towards the kitchen.
"I'm hungry, let's get something to eat." She said, taking his attention away from the worry. She pulled out some cake and waved it around, wondering if it would help, but still he stood by the counter with his brows furrowed. This time she swiped her finger along the cake, taking the frosting off. "Hey," She said before putting the frost on his nose playfully with a smile. "Stop worrying so much. Whatever happened before, they're going to solve it themselves."
Wally rose an eyebrow at her, a smirk appearing on his face as he grabbed her wrists and held them. "You asked for it," He told her playfully, pushing against her towards the cake.
"No!" She squealed happily as she tried to twist out of his hold.
He had a good grip on her as he moved her wrists to one hand and he reached for the cake. He grabbed a piece and laughed as she shook her head crazily at the cake, but the smile deceived her. He smooshed the cake along her cheek, making her nose scrunch up.
"That's cheating!" She pouted, before sliding her leg around his and tugging, causing him to fall backwards onto the floor.
"Who's cheating now?" He chuckled as she struggled to get her arms loose and finally succeeded.
She smiled evilly down at him, proud she had the upper hand once again. She reached up to grab the cake once again, but Wally grabbed her elbow at the same moment she grabbed the plate. Her hand slipped and the plate fell on both of them covering them in cake and frosting.
"Meghan's not going to be happy with you!" Crystal laughed at him.
"You grabbed it and dropped it!" He argued with a laugh right back. She stuck her tongue out at him teasingly before she gasped and began laughing erratically from his tickling her sides. "Stop! Stop it!" She gasped.
She stood up quickly trying to get away from the wiggling fingers that were coming towards her. She grabbed the sink hose and flipped the water on, aiming the sprayer at him threateningly.
"So? You wanna get wet?" She said seductively, playing with him as she smirked.
Wally and Crystal stared off with one another for a few seconds, daring the other to move. Wally finally reached out quickly, not being able to stop her as she sprayed the water at him, soaking his clothes instantly. He grabbed her leg and pushed, tripping her and making her land right on top of him. The hose slipped out of her hand but continued spraying as the clasp stuck in its position for the water to come out. Crystal squealed as the water sprayed her and Wally making both of them wet and the floor to become soaked.
"What are you two do…." Meghan stopped as she saw the water spraying all around and the soaked cake pieces squishing on the floor. She stopped the water quickly and put the hose back as she looked at the two of them with a stern glance. "You made such a mess!"
"Sorry," Crystal laughed, sitting up and looking at Meghan with innocent eyes. "But you know, Wally is the cause of all of this!"
"Don't blame me!" Wally laughed, sitting up on his hands and looking at her in disbelief. "She started it!"
"You two sound like children," Meghan sighed, but gave them a smile none-the-less. "Go change,"
"Okay, okay," Crystal laughed, standing up and almost slipping.
"Gotcha," Wally said, grabbing her waist and keeping her on her feet. "Mom isn't going to be too happy."
Crystal and Wally hurried over to his house, stopping at the front door and glancing at each other. Crystal breathed in deeply and creaked the door open slightly.
"The coast is clear," Crystal whispered before slipping inside and tip-toeing through the house.
"Go!" Wally whispered frantically, grabbing her and racing to his room quickly.
He whipped around the corner of his bedroom and shut the door quickly. Crystal blinked a few times before looking at him in confusion.
"I saw my mom coming around the corner," Wally said quickly, calming her confusion.
"We'll need to get changed quickly then," She said, walking to the closet and tossing shorts and a kid flash tank top. She pulled out a pair of denim shorts and a kid flash tank top of her own.
Wally pulled off his shirt, and glanced over at Crystal who was pulling off her own shirt. His heart sped up as he flushed and remember that night a couple days ago all over again. He put a hand on his forehead as he tried to de-clutter his thoughts and get back to what he was trying to do.
"Wally?" Crystal asked behind him, making him turn around.
He tensed up and his face turned beat red as he looked down at her. She had pulled her denim shorts on, but didn't zip them up or button them, so they were low on her hips and her underwear was showing plainly. She had taken her bra off and was holding her breasts with her hands. Her body was inches from his and her face was getting closer by the second.
"Wha?" He said, taking a step back slightly.
"I need a new bra, that one was soaked." She said, pointing to the dresser he was standing by. She reached past him towards the drawer, but he stopped her wrist before she could touch it. "Wally?"
"Hold still," He whispered, pushing her hair back from her face.
He leaned forward, kissing her lips gently at first, before pushing towards her more, deepening the kiss. She let out a small moan as she backed up, letting her back hit the wall. He pushed his body against hers, pinning her between him and the wall and feeling her skin flush against his own.
She pulled away and breathed deeply, catching her breath from the kiss. She leaned her head back to breath, giving him the space to kiss her neck and make a shiver go down her spine. Her heart beat erratically and she could feel Wally's doing the same thing in his own chest. She dropped her hands and linked her thumbs on the inside of his shorts, pulling his body even closer to her own until there was no air between them.
His hand dropped from her cheek and traveled down her side, leaving a trail of fire in its wake. She gasped as he trailed his finger up her back and sucked on her collarbone, making a throaty moan come out of her mouth.
Crystal looked down at the floor, feeling her legs begin to shake. She furrowed her brows as she realized it wasn't her legs that were shaking but the ground itself. "Wally," She said, pushing him back slightly.
"What?" He asked, looking at her with a smile before seeing her confused face.
A loud boom sounded outside as the ground shook tremendously. Wally and Crystal lost their footing and fell to the floor with Crystal on top.
"I think this is a change in plans," She said, getting up quickly and grabbing her bra. She did up her shorts and grabbed a light blue tank top from the closet with a darker blue short sleeved over jacket that ended just below her chest. It zipped up in the front and stopped in the right before her neck. She grabbed her fingerless gloves and slipped them on; black boots that went to her calves, and finally tied her hair up with a black ribbon. "Ready?"
She turned around and saw Wally already standing there with his kid flash outfit on. He nodded his head and they walked out of his room, ready to race towards wherever that explosion was.
"Wally! Crystal!" Wally's mom said, seeing them about to run past her.
"We have to go!" Crystal said, not leaving much time for his mom to say another word.
They raced towards the noise, with Wally picking her up and taking her with him on his high speed run. Crystal jumped off and ran as she saw the others already there staring up at the sky.
"He's here," Sierra said, looking straight up.
Crystal looked up and felt her blood freeze at the sight of the man that was complete darkness up in the sky. Her limbs trembled as he suddenly went from looking up into the sky, to looking straight down at her.
A glimmer in the sky made her jump out of the way in time for a blade to slice straight into the ground. A vine slipped around her ankle before pulling her up into the sky.
"What?" Crystal shouted, looking at the vine that was grasping onto her.
"Oh~ You didn't think I wasn't part of this fun, did you?" Poison Ivy said, waltzing down the road as if she owned the place.
"Poison Ivy!" Artemis growled, pointing her bow and arrow at the woman.
"Ah, ah, ah," Ivy said wagging her finger. "I'm not the one handling you guys. I'm just here to get the girl," She pointed up at Crystal with a wicked smile. "These boys will handle you."
Eight assassins dropped from the sky and held out their weapons towards the Young Justice, daring them to try and stop Ivy. Crystal grunted as the vines twisted around her body, squeezing the air out of her lungs as it tightened.
"Come, my baby." Ivy said, wiggling her finger and urging the vine to follow after her, letting her step onto it and climb into the sky towards Nightmare.
"Crystal!" Sierra screamed, running to her sister, before a knife was thrown just in front of her. She looked over and saw an assassin watching her carefully. It was the starting point of the fight as Young Justice dove into the fight against the assassins, dodging their weapons as best as they could and trying to fight back, but to no avail as the assassins dodged all of their attacks.
Crystal looked around in the sky, trying to get out from the vines grip as best as she could, but it seemed like every time she wiggled to get out, the vines tightened around her. It wasn't just Young Justice that was fighting, the whole league was there too, but was caught up in the attacks of 'The Light'.
"Crystal!" Flash shouted, racing up a building towards her, trying to catch her quickly. Brain appeared suddenly in front of him, sending out his mind waves and knocking Flash brutally to the floor. Superman and Batman were fighting against Queen Bee and her minions, and it seemed her pheromones were starting to get to them.
Wonder-woman was stuck with Ra's al Ghul and the rest of his assassins that weren't busy keeping the Young Justice back. Crystal furrowed her brows as she watched Black Manta stop his attack again Green Lantern and rushed toward Aqualad, stopping the blade that was about to go into his back.
Crystal had to clamp her eyes shut as she heard the screams everywhere in the city, the fire that was erupted in a few buildings, and the city was being destroyed slowly. Fear was creeping into her body as worry joined its place. She thought they had a better chance than what they were having so far. It was as if Nightmare was a cat that was playing with its prey, and they were just being toyed with by his friends as he watched.
"Stop!" Jay shouted, jumping from a building with her arm outstretched towards Crystal.
Crystal peeked her eyes open and jerked towards Jay, trying to warn the girl to get away, but it was too late as Ivy slammed one of her vines into her and sent her flying through the sky.
"Jay!" Crystal screamed, worried for the girl.
A flash of red erupt in the sky as feather dropped around Jay. Fiery red wings spanning about 12 feet in length jutted out from her back, letting her float in mid air and glare at Ivy. Andrew came up behind her with the same wings as he looked at Jay quickly for inspection before staring at Poison Ivy the same way.
"Oh~ So we have a few more toys to play with huh?" Ivy said excitedly.
Jay ripped through the air like a missile at Ivy, slamming into her before Ivy could think of where she went. Andrew took the moment to fly towards Crystal and pour a liquid over the vines. The vines seemed to scream in agony as they began to melt from the liquid. Crystal dropped from the vines and into Andrew's arms.
"You okay?" He asked, watching her carefully.
Crystal nodded her head, not able to say anything from the chock. Andrew dropped from the sky quickly, setting her down on the road.
"I have to get back to Jay." He told her, satisfied when Crystal nodded her head.
Crystal returned to her senses and grabbed his arm. "Is this why you and Jay want to hurt Nightmare so much? Did he do this to you two?"
"It was all part of his experiments." He told her simply. "I have to go," Crystal let him go as he flew into the sky towards Jay.
Crystal turned on her heel and ran towards the group, seeing them struggling with the assassins. She breathed in, shoving the fear she felt before away. A vine moved beneath her feet, but this time she used the movement to leverage her up into the air. Her knee slammed into one of the assassins heads, knocking him forward and his head into the concrete floor. Her necklace glowed as she let the power explode out of her, ramming into the remaining assassins and sending them into the walls of the buildings around them.
"I'm done with being toyed with," She growled, the wind picking up around her.
The wind was as strong as a tsunami as it blew around her and made everything fly into the sky. Her jacket ripped open as it blew frantically around; the ribbon in her hair ripped off and let her hair fly in the hectic wind.
"Crystal?" She heard Wally shout in confusion.
She couldn't help herself, the fear was stronger than she thought, and it was trying to consume her completely. She heard maniacal laughter erupt from above as Nightmare flew down in a cloud of darkness, let it be sucked up by the wind and cover Crystal in a cloud of dark.
"It seems you forgot your own birthday my daughter," Nightmare teased, giving her a wicked smile.
"I won't become like you," She grumbled, glaring at him as she tried to control her powers. "I WON'T become like you!"
The wind cut off suddenly, and everything dropped to the ground with a clang. She breathed in and out, letting the fear be taken over by protectiveness. Jay and Andrew dropped from the sky as Ivy screamed and landed on her vines with a thud.
"One down," Jay smirked, her and Andrew flanking either side of Crystal just slightly behind.
"Wings huh?" Crystal said, glancing back at Jay and Andrew. She saw them flinch slightly at the tone of voice she had but realized it wasn't towards them but her father. "How could you do such a thing? To hurt two kids like them?"
Nightmare smirked, and then his face broke into a smile, before a laugh erupted out of him. He stopped and went back to the evil smile. "Just like I did to you my dear. Except you had powers to begin with, so it was much easier on you than them."
"Crystal?" Jay asked confused by what he was saying.
Crystal glanced back at her and gave a comforting smile. She turned back to Nightmare and gave a proud smirk. "Of course, it was the first sign you saw that told you I was going to be good."
A blast of wind burst from Crystal as wings spanning 15 feet in length burst from her back and tore her jacket and tank top. The wings shined from the sun and reflected its bright light. They were white, not just white but pure white, like freshly fallen snow.
"White wings for good huh?" Crystal said, shrugging off her jacket and grabbing the torn bits of her tank-top. She brought them up to her chest and tied it in the middle, giving a tube-top look.
Wally couldn't believe his eyes. First Jay and his brother stood there with bright red wings that looked as if they were guardian angel's coming down to help them, and now Crystal stood there with pure white wings, blonde hair, blue eyes, and blue top, making her look like an arch angel had come down with them.
"Jay, Andrew," She said looking at them. "Sorry my father had to make you go through the same thing."
Nightmare didn't like the thought that Crystal had already chosen her side, and now it showed. Her wings showed which side she was on, and his anger rose with every sight of them.
"Bring it," Crystal told him threateningly.
