CHAPTER 24
Sabrina: PATRICK! She's able to free herself from the chair and tape...after hearing the shots fired...
Patrick: I think I'm okay....he says...but he's not...
Sabrina: I don't care about him, she says relieved that her husband and love of her life was not hurt...as she's hugging him, she sees something terrifying.
Sabrina: OH NO! She sees blood traveling down the carpet towards her and Patrick.
Patrick: What is it?
Sabrina: EMMA!
Patrick: OH GOD! Baby, he rushes to his daughters side hoping and praying she was still alive....she's breathing but just barely.
Sabrina quickly calls an ambulance as the police finally show up...
Patrick: Where in the hell have you been?
Anna: (Runs inside) PATRICK...what happened? OH NO! She sees her beloved granddaughter practically lifeless on the floor...
Patrick: She needs to get to GH NOW! He says trying to hold back tears...
Noah begins crying in the background...
Sabrina: Trying to keep it together...I have to check on him...she runs to her son and holds him close to her...she quickly changes him and his clothes and gets a head start over to the hospital.
Both Sabrina and Patrick and Emma arrive at the hospital practically at the same time...Emma is immediately rushed to the OR.
Elizabeth: Patrick, I need you to stay here...
Patrick: I need to operate myself! He shouts trying to run after his little girl.
Elizabeth: No, that's no going to happen...Patrick, look at me...he refuses, PATRICK! This is too close to home for you...you cannot operate on your own daughter...let Dr. Chen do his job...you know he's excellent and won't let anything happen to our little Emma! What is this?She sees blood on her hands after consoling Patrick.
Patrick: I don't know...Emma's?
Elizabeth: No...yours! She looks up at him.
With all the rush of adrenaline he had while helping Emma, he didn't realize he was hit as well.
Sabrina: Patrick, she rushes to him...what is it? She says switching the baby to her other side.Oh no! She cries...
Patrick's color drains and all of a sudden he is passed out unconscious on the hospital floor.
Sabrina: PATRICK! OH MY GOD...she says in full blown tears...
Anna arrives...
Anna: Sabrina, she says trying to keep it together...let me take Noah to day care...he shouldn't be here with all of this commotion.She reaches out for the baby.
Sabrina: Thank you, she says as she kneels by her husband's side....FELIX, get a gurney STAT!
Felix: Sees what happened to his friend...On it!
Sabrina: Baby, she holds Patrick's hand in hers....you need to hang on baby...please...I can't lose you and Emma all in the same day...she cries...PLEASE, baby, she begs him to wake up...the gurney arrives and Patrick is taken in for xrays to see what the problem was.
Patrick is wheeled off to get X-rayed while Sabrina is left without her family...by herself in the hospital waiting room.
Sabrina falls to her knees and breaks down...
Epiphany sees what her friend is going through and reaches out to her.
Epiphany: (Places her hand on Sabrina's back) Hey...girl...she lifts her up into a hug. I'm here...Everything will be just fine...she hugs her tight.
Sabrina manages to pull herself together to talk to Epiphany.
Sabrina: I'm sorry...I just...she wells up again....unable to control her emotions.
Epiphany: I know baby girl...I know...listen to Epiphany...that man loves you beyond anything I've ever seen...he won't leave you and neither will Emma...you are her mother in so many ways...
Sabrina: (Takes a deep breath) Thank you Epiphany, she says wiping tears from her eyes. I needed to hear that...
Epiphany: That man...your um Ex...
Sabrina: Please tell me he's dead.
Epiphany: Barley clinging to life...
Sabrina: Do me a favor then, will ya? Make sure he croaks!
Epiphany: Now...you know I can't do that, she chuckles...as much as I would LOVE too!
Sabrina gets up...
Epiphany: Where are you going?
Sabrina: To end his sorry life...that's what I'm going to do...and runs to Miguel's room.
Epiphany: She's not serious is she? She says to herself...and goes after her to make sure.
Anna comes back to the hospital and goes to check on her granddaughter and former son in law.
Anna: Felix, what's the word?
Felix: Patrick is stable...Emma's still in surgery.
Anna: What's taking so long? She asks pacing back and forth.
Felix: No news is good news...
Anna: I guess...she sits next to Patrick...
Felix: Have you seen Sabrina?
Anna: No, I as just about to ask you that same question.
Felix: I'll be back...I need to find her.
Anna: Go...I'll stay with him. She looks at Patrick's pale face and can't help but cry.
Epiphany literally runs into Felix in the hallway.
Felix: Oh, sorry...
Epiphany: Why are you in such a hurry?
Felix: I can't find Sabrina.
Epiphany: Drake Jr?
Felix He's the same...Emma is too...I am just afraid she is going to do something stupid..she usually does when she's upset.
Epiphany: Come with me! She leads Felix to Miguel's room hoping to catch Sabrina before she does something she'll regret.
Epiphany opens the door...Felix is shocked to find Sabrina standing over Miguel with a pillow.
Felix: BRINA! What the hell are you doing? He runs over to her and grabs her arm and the pillow.
Sabrina: He's taking my family from me...all because I didn't want to give him one...she says between tears...tell me one reason he shouldn't die right here and right now? She begs her friend for the pillow back.
Epiphany: Baby girl...she slowly goes over to Sabrina. She takes her hand...I'll give you two reasons right now...Drake Jr and Emma.
Sabrina drops the pillow and falls into Epiphany's arms.
