AN: Welcome, everyone to a brand new story: Final Fantasy VII: Chronicles of Remnant! This story is very different from any of the other stories that I've done, because this one is co-written by Dyna-Man 21. I'm really excited to start working on this, especially since, if I'm being honest, I'm starting to get a little burned out on Aqua's Mission. I'm still going to keep working on it, but this at least gives me something else to get excited about.

The first few chapters will be introducing the characters and the changes we're making to the World of Remnant. These are basically like the trailers from the show. Here's the first one, and introduction to Ruby Rose.

Enjoy!

Introduction: Ruby Rose

It was a winter night like most. A layer of freshly-fallen snow lay on the ground, flakes falling from the sky. The snow was practically glowing from the light of the shattered moon overhead.

The night was only like most, however, as a peculiar sight could be found on a cliff overlooking the sea far below.

A hooded young girl kneeled before a grave stone at the edge of the cliff, the girl wrapped in a vibrant red cloak over her black, gothic clothing.

She wore a black blouse and waist cincher that fit tightly around her thin physique, a black skirt and red tulle around the edges, black stockings, and black combat boots with some snow clinging to the soles and toes.

The girl looked up at the gravestone before her, her eyes an even more peculiar sight than her cloak. Her eyes were a brilliant and exceedingly rare silver, and even more interestingly, her pupils were vertical slits instead of round like most humans, more resembling the eyes of a feline.

Well, humans didn't have eyes like hers at all, actually. Only Faunus did.

Those unusual eyes focused on the words engraved on the grave stone.

Summer Rose

Thus kindly I scatter

The girl shed a single tear, in mourning of the life she barely got to have with her mother before she was taken from them.

The girl was Summer Rose's daughter, Ruby Rose.

It had become a bit of a ritual for the girl over the years, to come up here and pay her respects to her mother.

Even though it had been so many years since she'd died, Ruby found that it never got any easier.

After a few minutes of silent remembrance, Ruby finally stood up and began the trek through the woods to get back home.

Now, her father had warned her against coming out here at night, but Ruby really didn't want to miss her little ritual.

Besides, she was confident that she would be able to handle anything that was dumb enough to attack her.

In fact, it didn't take her very long at all before she heard a low, animalistic growl behind her.

Ruby smirked, just as a large, pitch-black wolf-like monster swung its claws at her. She disappeared in a flash of rose petals, only to reappear above the monsters, her hood having fallen off her face to reveal her black hair that turned red at the tips. She looked down at the monsters, identifying them as Beowolves, before she reached behind her and grabbed a large red apparatus attached behind her at her lower back.

Her sweetheart, Crescent Rose.

Still in midair, she brought the weapon around in its compact rifle form and fired on the crowd of Beowolves, taking several of them out with the barrage. She flipped forward, unfolding Crescent Rose into its scythe form, and when she landed, she wrapped the blade around one of the Beowolves. She made sure it was angled just right, and fired a shot that caused the head of one Beowolf to just explode, and the recoil jerked Crescent Rose backwards, bisecting the Beowolf that she had wrapped the blade around. The recoil also sent her backwards, so she stopped her momentum by slamming the scythe blade into the ground, using it as a sniper platform to take out a few more Grimm that tried to approached her from the woods. She noticed three more Beowolves approaching her.

She quickly pulled her blade out of the ground, swinging the scythe rapidly. The Beowolves quickly fell, being replaced by a pile of severed limbs and heads. She quickly dispatched four more, and another Beowolf charged at her. She wrapped the blade of Crescent Rose around its throat. She then jumped onto the Beowolf's back, and fired a shot from her weapon, the recoil pulling back the scythe and decapitating the monster. She jumped into the air, firing Crescent Rose behind her, using the recoil to propel herself forward and slash her way through another small group.

She stood tall, weapon at the ready, and smirked when she saw that they had all bunched together. With a flick of a switch, a small compartment opened on the side of Crescent Rose, revealing a small round hole. She reached into a pouch on her belt, and pulled out a small green orb.

Her trusty Materia.

She inserted the Materia into the slot on the side of Crescent Rose, and poured her Aura into it. The ground at her feet began to glow, as energy began to gather in her palm.

"Aero!" she shouted, and a small ball of energy flew into the crowd of Beowolves. A second later, the energy exploded, creating a whirlwind that swept up the Grimm, leaving them helpless and suspended in the air.

Ripe for the picking.

With a series of recoil-powered lunges, Ruby turned herself into a tornado of death, and within seconds, the only thing left of the Beowolves was a pile of severed body parts.

Ruby landed, a pleased smile on her face. With a flick of the switch, the Materia popped out of Crescent Rose. She caught it, and the compartment closed on the side of her weapon.

"Well, that was easy," she said. She put her Wind Materia back in its pouch, and was about to fold up Crescent Rose and put it away, but she felt a weird feeling.

Her eyes widened quickly, and she suddenly dove out of the way of a pouncing wolf. But it was a different kind of wolf, a different kind of creature entirely from the Grimm.

Unlike the Beowolves, which were larger and stood on their hind legs, this creature stood on all fours, looked like a normal wolf only incredibly muscular, and had a tentacle protruding from the back of its head. This creature was a Wrath Hound.

Ruby held Crescent Rose at the ready, and observed as a group of smaller Wrath Hounds stalked out of the forest and joined the larger one, clueing in Ruby that the first one was the leader.

Ruby quickly dove out of the way as one of the Wrath Hounds snapped its tentacle at her. She quickly swung her scythe, slicing the tentacle off and making the hound scream in pain. Ruby quickly fired a round at its head, killing the beast instantly. Ruby stepped back to put some distance between herself and the Wrath Hounds, firing additional rounds at the alpha. Much to her frustration, the rounds harmlessly bounced off the monster.

Or more specifically, the field of energy that appeared around the monster.

Ruby grunted in irritation, before ducking under another Wrath Hound attempting to tackle her. She swung Crescent Rose upwards as she dodged, slicing the offending monster across the belly, spilling blood and entrails as it fell. She shot another approaching hound in the head, and flipped to stomp her feet onto the back of another, slicing it in half with her scythe. She flipped backwards, shooting another, and then fired her weapon behind her to launch her towards the ground faster, slicing another two in half as she landed. She turned and saw the alpha charging at her, so she folded Crescent Rose back into its compact rifle form, firing multiple shots at the monster. The bullets bounced off the monster's Aura until finally, she saw the field dissipate. She smirked, and fired one last bullet right between the hound's eyes.

The creature's muscles all went limp simultaneously, and it crashed to the ground in a heap.

Ruby was about to breathe a sigh of relief when she suddenly heard another creature cry out in pain.

Her head whipped behind her, to see another Wrath Hound writing in agony, black blood smeared all over its lips, and the rapidly-dissolving flesh of a Beowolf lying beneath it.

Ruby watched in horror as the Wrath Hound was transformed by the tainted flesh. The right side of the hound's body turned pitch black, its front right leg enlarged and grew sharp, bone-white claws. Spikes sprouted from its right shoulder and down its back, its eyes turned blood-red, and the right side of its face became covered with half of a bone mask of an Alpha Beowolf.

The hybrid creature roared, and it's body glowed briefly, signaling the awakening of its Aura.

"Oh boy," Ruby said, making the wolf turn its head sharply towards her. Ruby fully unfurled Crescent Rose into its scythe form, and swung at its enlarged claw to block a swipe, before ducking under another attack. She slashed at the hybrid's stomach, its Aura absorbing the attack, and backflipped to dodge a swipe of the tentacle from the back of its head.

As she landed on her feet, she looked up just in time to notice the monster pounce on her. She lifted her scythe to wedge the shaft of the weapon between its jaws, stopping it from being able to snap at her. The force of the monster's pounce knocked Ruby onto her back, and she wrestled with it for several seconds before getting her feet underneath its stomach and kicking it away.

With a burst of rose petals, she used her Semblance to launch herself backwards, putting some distance between herself and the hybrid monster, which wasted no time in charging at her. Thinking quickly, she pulled another green Materia orb out of her pouch, and inserted it into the vacant slot on Crescent Rose.

With a burst of her Aura, the blade of her scythe ignited just as the monster pounced, and a flaming swing of Crescent Rose knocked the creature away.

"Fire!" Ruby shouted, launching a small fireball from her palm. The creature dove out of the way, but the explosion still staggered it. Ruby watched as the creature's Aura dissipated. The monster regained its footing quicky. It and Ruby stared each other down for several seconds, with the only noise coming from Ruby's engulfed scythe.

Ruby and the hybrid hound simultaneously jumped up into the air to strike each other. Ruby swung her scythe, and the monster swung its claws, both sides seemingly missing their intended targets. The two of them landing on the ground with their backs to each other. After a few seconds, fire erupted from the hybrid's chest. The creature cried out in pain, and Ruby turned around and shot a Fire Materia-powered bullet, engulfing the creature in a great explosion of fire. Ruby turned and watched the final death throes of the creature, leaving behind nothing but a pile of ash. Taking one last look around to make sure there would be no more surprises, Ruby popped the Materia out of Crescent Rose, put it and the weapon away, and high-tailed it back home.

"Hey, Dad," Ruby said as she walked in the front door, bending down to pet Zwei, her family's corgi. "I'm home."

"Hey, sweetie," her father said, sitting on the couch watching T.V. He was a middle-aged man with shaggy blond hair, blue eyes, and a soul patch that he mostly kept because he thought it made him look younger.

He always refused to listen to them when they told him it was just silly.

"You were out an awfully long time, you run into any trouble?"

"Nothing I couldn't handle," Ruby said, taking a look around for a certain blonde-haired girl. "Where's Yang?"

"She went out to get some more Dust rounds for her gauntlets," Dad said. "She wanted to make sure she was all ready for Beacon."

"Oh…" Ruby said, her face falling slightly. "…Right. I, uh, think I'm gonna go to bed."

"Oh, before you go," Dad said, holding out an envelope. "This came in for you and Yang."

"Who's it from?" Ruby asked.

"Cloud," her father said, and Ruby excitedly snatched it from his hand, tearing it open and reading through it. "What does it say?"

"It says he and Zack are in Mistral finishing up training, and Cloud thinks he'll be back in time for… Beacon's next semester," she read off, her smile disappearing towards the end.

"What's wrong?" her father asked.

"I mean, I'm happy that Yang and Cloud are going to Beacon and all, but I just wish I could go with them, you know?" she asked.

"You're only 15," her father said. "I know you won't be there with them now, but trust me, the next two years are going to fly by. You'll be with them before you know it."

"Yeah, I guess," Ruby said. "Thanks, Dad." She walked over and gave her father a hug. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight, sweetheart," her father said. "Love you."

"Love you, too."

She climbed up the stairs to her bedroom, picking up a framed photo on her desk. She sat down on her bed, looking at the photo fondly. It was picture of three children, one of them clearly a younger Ruby, along with a girl with blonde hair and purple eyes. Both girls were hugging the arms of a boy with spiky blond hair and blue eyes. He was doing his best to look annoyed, but Ruby and Yang knew Cloud had a good time on that trip to Golden Saucer a few years ago. She smiled at the photo before putting it back and laying down.

Yeah, she was going to miss Yang and Cloud when they went to Beacon, but she knew one thing for sure.

They were always going to be two of the most important people in her life.

AN: Hope you enjoyed this little taste of what's to come.

This story basically takes place in Remnant that also has the world of Final Fantasy VII contained within it. That's probably the best way I can explain it.

So, next up is going to be another one of these introductions, this time for the one and only Cloud Strife!

Thank you very much for reading, and I'll see you all next time!
