It was brought to my attention that this needed a few edits for easier reading and when I came to look I saw the issue. Very sorry and here is the edit. 4/27/23
Hey a rewrite because I need to fix things look at that! 5/13/2023
Watching a fight was never fun for me, never a great feeling. Well maybe once it was, watching the great stage of good vs. evil. Of Heroes vs. Villains. Now, now I am older, no longer seeing things through rose colored glasses. I stood now at the edge of a crowd before a shopping district. The road is blocked off by a Rescue hero holding up lines of water. Fire on the buildings that bracketed the sides of the roads, asphalt cracked, and in the middle of the chaos, a villan made of goo. Holding a middle schooler within it's confines. There were several heroes here and yet none were moving. No one was trying to help the middle schooler who's ability to breathe was becoming more and more limited. His struggles become more and more desperate.
The mask in my back pocket became heavier and heavier with each second as the realization of the fact this middle schooler, this person my age was going to die. I had seen enough death just standing around, it was why I couldn't ignore this. Starting to shift forward, clasping my wings tight to my back as I placed my mask on my face. Pushing forward, ignoring the shouts of anger and indignation as I got to the front and then pushed through the line of water, rushing right through. Reaching out and grabbing a loose pipe that had once been part of a sign and once closer throwing the metal at the villain's eyes. Making him scream. Wings beating a little in my adrenaline rush. I reached through grabbing the boy's arm and pushed his hand towards his face.
"Do it now!" I yelled and thankfully the boy understood, he got what I was saying and used his quirk to force the slime away from his mouth. I worked to shove more of the slime away. All as the boy roared, squirmed, and continued to use his quirk to force his way free. Soon I was able to take his arm again and pull his arm, and free him of the slime, looking back to the rescue hero. "Spray him! Fast!" But he didn't keeping his focus on the fires that the boy's quirk had caused. Getting slammed by an arm from the slime and thrown into a wall was not my idea of getting the boy away.
"Fuck you!" The boy roared and then of course tried to get into a fight with the thing.
"Aim for the eyes!" I yelled out and thankfully the boy was quick to follow, though not before cursing me for telling him what to do, couldn't really care cause at least he was listening. Reaching out to one of the fires, pulling the flames towards me. The flame eager to feed and consume.
"Go Valkyrie!" People were starting to cheer and this was far to public, far to open, the fire licked up my arm as it snaked up in three thin tendrils. The feeling of the fire strong and lashing against my control. Only able to dig my fingers into the flame to strong arm my control.
"Duck!" I roared and again the kid listened, ducking down and out of the way as I reared my hand back and whipped the fire ropes at the slime villain as it chased after the boy once more. The fire howled and strained unwilling to listen or bend to my will. "You got to run, they won't help till your out of the way!"
"Detroit SMASH!" Harsh wind whipped through the air and the slime villain was sent flying, rain starting to fall as the form of All Might stood in the middle of the street, a plastic bag in hand.
"It's All Might!
"He saved the day
"Wooo," Cheers filled the air as I shifted to face All Might. Dear Kami, this was not going to end well. His eyes turned to me watching as I watched him. Woods coming up behind All Might saying something that didn't carry to me. I started glancing around looking for my way out. There were a few easy places to climb, but that was hardly going to be of much use with one so fast. Woods took a step forward only for All Might to reach out and stop him.
"For one who operates in the night I am surprised too see you," All Might spoke loudly, drawing my attention fully back to him.
"I've seen enough death in my life time, it's not something I can stand aside and watch happen anymore," I answer him, the sound of other footsteps had me glancing away from him.
"Is that all?" All Might questioned me again, glancing back to him, it made me wonder the intent of his question.
"Is what all?"
"You stepped into the light, to save a boy?"
"Well yea, they weren't doing anything and just putting more people into danger, I wasn't going to watch when I could do something about it." I grumbled annoyed, flaring my wings a bit, cops were here, that could mean cages, bars, no, no more bars and cages, a warning rumble slipping from my throat.
"Come quietly, it will only make things worse," he warned, all as I reached to the dwindling fires, the fire already starting to die as more firefighters entered the area. The fires wanted to burn and consume just as before, licking out to my own source, which would soon be very useful.
"I'm tired of cages," It was the only warning I gave before calling all the fire I could and drawing it towards me, creating a makeshift flash bomb before booking it. The fact none of the heroes moved was evidence enough they had let me leave. What is it with the heroes today? It would probably be for the best to keep a really low profile for awhile.
Another day, another night, another patrol through the South Side, the home of scum and criminals. A part of tone that cops rarely ventured into and very few heroes even entered. A part of the city hit hard by an earth quake, several skyscrapers collapsed and a lot of other buildings just abandoned. But there was water, and some power. It was a home for the desperate, and as long as you followed the unbroken rules most wouldn't bother you. I was welcome here, keeping to the low level crime so tolerated. Keeping the drugs away from the family living areas and the run away haunts. Chasing off the rule breakers that thought the South Side could be their play ground. It was a good place to get in contact with anyone in the Underground, to get low and hide. It was a good place, it was my place.
It was the laughing that brought me to crime alley towards the end of my self proclaimed shift. Well, it wasn't much of crime alley anymore with it being the center of my territory but still. The laughs brought me to the edge of the roof looking down to see 3 somewhat familiar teens and an adult that looked more like a skeleton than a human. I could see why the teens had chosen him as a target. His cloths screamed fresh meat even with the blood on his collar.
"Zen!" I barked out the name of the leader getting the boys to stop short looking up to me.
"Oh, oh hey Zu we, uh, we weren't doin nothin," Zen stuttered out.
"You're in my territory fuck wad, get out," I hissed at him, arching my wings a bit. The skeleton man kept thankfully quiet watching us with a strange look in his eyes.
"You claim all of the South Side, how's that fair! We deserve a cut!" I laughed loudly, shrugging off the demand, letting a thin string orange fire dance between my fingers.
"If you wanted a fight you only need to ask Zen," Offering a feral smile that had his two friends taking a step back, all as I dropped down, landing with a soft thump, wings making the jump far to pleasant of a fall.
"Fuck you, fine take em, we got a big enough haul anyway," with that they were gone. Waiting for a moment I turned to the man who was coughing up what seemed to be a lung.
"Hey, you alright?" I asked, looking the skeleton over for obvious signs of harm. Though he looked fine. Taking the moment to better look him over. He had clean blong hair that seemed to be more of a maine than normal hair with long bangs.
"I'm fine, Young, Zu, was it?" He asked, whipping the blood off his chin.
"It's what they call me, you should be in the hospital old man," not asking for his name, only addressing what I see.
"Trust me, Young Zu, there is nothing they can do," he seemed to mourn this statement. Something far deeper down than what I could see was wrong, cancer maybe.
"You might be dying sure," I shrug, earning a shocked look. "But a warm bed and warm food is nothin to scoff at." I warned him, shoving my hands in my pockets. "Come on, I'll take you to the nice one." Turning my back on him and starting to walk, once I got to the end of the alley I stopped looking back. "You comin or what, I want to go to sleep at some point this morning." I called, and this got him moving to follow. He wasn't fast, but with him coughing up blood, I didn't expect much. Him not running was probably for the best.
Tada, I love comments and input. I have been hyper focused on this and have a lot of pages going.
