2nd September 2006
In the three years that Draco had been married to Tori, it was now that he could say that he was at his most happiest point with her. He had proposed to her on her twentieth birthday and they had married on 23rd May 2003 in a small ceremony attended by their parents, Daphne and Blaise, Richard, Gregory, Theodore and Druella. It had been a happy day, with the ceremony held in the grounds just like his parents wedding had been and they had honeymooned in Paris for three weeks. Six months later, Tori had been named the store manager of Twilfitt and Tattings and the two had opened their own vault at Gringotts; even though they had been told they would inherit everything from Lucius and Narcissa and Druella had even said she had left something for Draco in her own will. Although Draco felt grateful that his relatives had left him things in their wills, he wanted to have his own vault with Tori to say that they had worked hard for that money.
They hadn't really thought about children, having spent two years and seven months travelling the world due to Draco's job and attending events that the Ministry had thrown. But in December 2005, Tori had come home from an appointment at St Mungo's as white as a sheet. He remembered feeling angry that the healer's would let a patient go home in the state she had returned in but he then learned it was from shock. Tori announced that she was expecting their first child.
The thought of being a father had scared him, having it only been a few years since he had gotten his own relationship with Lucius sorted. He worried about what type of father he would be, whether he would be a disappointment if his child had ever learned about his past crimes but Tori, as always, reassured him that she had faith in him and he was going to be the best father that he could be.
Now here he was, nine months on from the announcement of the pregnancy. Astoria had woken up the night before to find that her waters had broken and the healers booked her into a private room at St Mungo's. During a night of hardly any sleep for the pair of them, Tori finally entered the delivery stage. He held her hand, which he felt she was going to break sometime soon due to the hard squeezing every time the healer told her to push on a contraction. She would push for merlin knows how long before collapsing back onto the pillows to rest before the next contraction. Draco praised her each time, despite Tori telling him that she hated him for putting her through this pain; he knew she didn't mean it, not really. It was just the pain she was experiencing which made her feel like that.
Tori collapsed back onto the pillows, panting and crying and sweating due to her efforts at trying to deliver their baby. Draco picked up a cloth and wiped the sweat away from her forehead and quickly making her take a sip of water.
"In thirty seconds, one final push Mrs Malfoy." the healer instructed.
She looked at Draco and smiled weakly, "I love you, even if this hurts like hell!" she said through gritted teeth, pushing herself off the pillows and screaming in agony as the next contraction came along.
Draco smiled as he supported her during the last push, continuing to hold her hand when she gasped in relief and fell back onto the pillows one final time. They both couldn't stop the happy tears that fell from their eyes as they heard their newborn baby cry for the first time. Draco watched as the healer cleaned the baby up and placed the newborn into some fresh blankets before handing the baby to Astoria.
Tori cried as she looked down on her newborn, admiring that the newborn had Draco's looks; the same nose, the same chin but with her eye shape.
"Congratulations Mr and Mrs Malfoy, you have a healthy son." the healer smiled.
Draco met Tori's gaze and smiled widely, "I guess this means that we can't use Narcissa as a middle name." he chuckled.
Astoria shook her head, "I still like the idea of the Black family tradition though." she whispered.
"We did discuss some but you weren't keen on Cygnus, after my grandfather."
"I quite liked Scorpius."
Draco continued to smile, "Little Scorpius Malfoy. I like it."
"What about a middle name Draco?" Tori asked quietly.
The healer started writing out her paperwork, "He was born at sunrise, what about Hyperion?" she suggested.
Draco blinked, "Hyperion Healer Brown?" he questioned.
Healer Brown nodded, "Hyperion was the God of Sun and Light."
"I like it. Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy." Tori whispered to the newborn.
Draco looked over and held his newborn son's hand in his own, agreeing with Tori on his son's name. Scorpius would be the light in their lives and he would try and be the best father to Scorpius as he possibly could be.
