Chapter 27: Bhavana
You'd think that I'd be used to Jessica suddenly sprouting green mist and saying random stuff. Sadly, no. I was definitely not, and that little... word of wisdom made me spit out my- very delicious- mouthful of shepherd's pie.
"Ew!" Pranu shrieked when she saw the pie fly out of my mouth. She created a water barrier and deflected the projectile back towards me.
I smirked, or at least tried, and dodged with superspeed. It hit the head of someone behind me with a wet slapping sound.
He shrieked and fell off the table. Instantly, a food fight ensued, with every man/woman for himself/herself.
"SILENCE!" Neesik yelled. "AND STOP THAT FOOD-FIGHT! WE HAVE VERY SERIOUS MATTERS HERE!" He took a deep breath and calmed down. "Caiyi, you may pick some campers to go with you on your quest. No doubt you are the 'half-blooded' that will go and search for the sun."
"That doesn't make sense. The sun rises every day! Why do we have to look for it?" Caiyi asked.
"The Delphi's prophecies never make sense, Caiyi. Just pick your people and go."
"Umm... well, then... I guess I pick Ruidi-" At this, Ruidi sat up straighter and began polishing his weapon- "and... Tim-" Tim looked happy that he was coming along- "and... Charlie."
Charlie looked really confused. "Me? But you barely know me-"
Neesik cut in. "Very well. You have chosen. Good luck." And with those words he ushered them off.
"Wait a second- CAIYI! You didn't pick me!" I shouted.
"Or me!" Pranu said angrily.
"What about me? I'm pretty sure the sun means Shirley and I'm her friend! I want to go!" Alex said.
"I didn't go on a quest yet!" Carina yelled.
"QUIET!" Neesik hollered. "Caiyi has chosen! It is his choice!"
Caiyi looked kind of guilty. "Sorry, guys... you're girls..."
"Sexist..." Pranu muttered. Ruidi glanced at us as he walked past our table with the other boys and took in the jealous expressions on our faces. Then he looked at us with that smug little face of his and smirked. I was so mad that I could spit.
"Oh no he didn't!" Carina raged. Pranu had a murderous look on her face and clenched her fists.
"I think it's time we showed the boys that we girls aren't as weak and innocent as they think. Meet me behind the Poseidon cabin at six with anything you need. And be ready."
"Ready? For what?" Alex asked.
"Ready to sneak out of camp and go on a quest." Pranu replied with an evil glint in her eye.
