'Welcome to the Aspertia Gym. I suppose you want to battle me?' Cheren asked. Green nodded. Cheren nodded at the referee, who stood at the center of the areaa. 'Challenger Green from Pallet challenges Gym Leader Cheren. Both trainers use two Pok mon each. The one who's able to knock out both Pokemon, wins! Let's make this a good fight!' Cheren looked under glasses, throwing his first Pokemon into the fight. Herdier appeared. Green sent out his Snivy. 'Lets get this over with!' He snorted.
But just as the two trainers wanted to start their battle, someone plunged into the Gym. Making all insiders turn their heads. 'Cheren! Come quickly! Cheren recognized the girl's face. He turned to Green, calling back his Herider. 'I guess we have to do this some other time!' He dashed off. Green grunted, calling back his Snivy. 'This is unbelievable!
Gem ran into the cave the new Pok mon was held. Sarin tried to stop him, chasing the 6 year old. Once Avalon heard footsteps and heard his son's voice, he turned his head, raising an eyebrow. 'Gem? he said. The little boy had a big smile on his face as he hugged his father. 'Daddy, can I see the Pokemon you made? Can I- aah?' Sarin bowed apologeticly. 'I'm so sorry, sir. He was too fast,' The 25-year old man shook his head, picking up his son. He pointed at the tube-like feature, that held the creature. The child's eyes went big. 'Whoa .. Is it sleeping?' Avalon smiled. 'It is. And guess how I'm gonna name it; Valogiyem,' Gem's mouth went 'o'-like as he heard the beautiful name.
'Daddy, can I have it?' The man snorted, taking Gem's hand into his own. 'Once daddy is the boss of Unova - and you become a trainer yourself ; I'll hand it to you,' The boy nodded eagerly, once again turning his head towards the with water filled tube, holding this magnificent beast. 'Daddy, when you are the boss, will mommy come back to live with us?' The sudden question made Avalon gasp. He put the child back on his two feet, closing his eyes. He knew the kid missed his mother, but Avalon couldn't forget the history they had together before Gem's birth.
Gem tugged his father's hand, awaiting his answer. The man tried to send Gem an assuring smile, yet he didnot know he was telling the truth or telling a lie. And he did not want to lie to his son. Gem placed his little hands against the glass, feeling the cold sensation vibrate through his fingers. The moment Gem mentally spoke to the Pokemon, the creature opened its eyes, staring at the child. Gem gasped as he saw those piercing crimson-colored eyes. The beast looked dangerous, yet his eyes gave off a sensation of peace. Gem knew at this moment, at the age of 6, this creation was going to be one of the most gentle Pokemon alive. His father would only have to find out himself.
Sarin took Gem's hand and led him out of the cave. Avalon turned to Cassava, as she called his name. 'It's done. The special Pokeball especially made for Valogiyem. I call it a Vital Ball. It is designed to capture the most vital Pokemon,' she handed her boss the object, bowing as he nodded at her. He inspected the black-colored Pokeball, the top covered with a red lightningbolt. He smirked. 'Perfect. As soon as we let it out of this tube .. We'll capture it and proceed with our plans!' Cassave looked upon the man, trying to avert his gaze. 'Ofcourse, sir.'
'What's the problem, Siya?' Cheren asked as the girl dragged him towards the newly built Legend Tower. As they entered, Cheren saw N standing next to Zekrom - a worried look on his face. Cheren didn't know how to react to N's sudden appearence, never really having a bond with the man, since N only communicated with Black and White. As N saw Cheren coming near, he spoke. 'Two legendary Pokemon are missing. And I know they are held in Unova..' Cheren frowned. 'I know, you told White, Rosa and Nate already. What do you need me for?' N stepped closer, putting the palm of his hand against Cheren's cheek. The black-haired boy blushed as he felt the soft touch of N's palm. 'You need to trust me. I can hear the feint cries of Ho-Oh and Lugia. And another cry of a yet .. unknown Pokemon,'
Cheren shut his eyes, freeing himself from N's touch. 'I'm not the one you need to ask for help! Go ask the others, they are far better trainers than me,' N raised an eyebrow in surprise, dropping the brief smile he had on his lips. 'Cheren. I need your knowledge. You are a very intelligent young man. I ask for your help .. Will you accept my plead?'
(Valogiyem is derrived from the names Avalon (Avalolon) and Gem (Giyem)
Green sighed every now and then once Red suggested they'd take a walk through Aspertia city. It was supposedly the hometown of Nate and Rosa, two trainers they met while on board of the Unova Sea Travel. It is told that both Nate and Rosa became the Unova Champion, two years after Black and White did. But they left the trainer scene to catch up the lost years with family and friends. Nate and Rosa, on the other hand, got assigned to protect the Unova region once they'd become the new Champions. Green couldn't believe that 4 of the greatest trainers in the Unova region, grew up in such little towns, but then again .. Pallet wasn't exactly huge either. Green was about to die from boredom, until a group of young children ahead caught his eye. He tugged at Red's arm and pointed in their direction.
'Calm down, children. I understand it's exiting to witness and actual battle between Pokemon, but we need to be quiet, okay?' But even the blue-haird young teacher couldn't keep her amazement to herself when she saw Green and Red approach the Aspertia City Trainer School. Red waved at some kids, not being able to hide the fact that he absolutly loved children. Green crossed his arms as he stopped to look at the many surprised faces. Red felt the same uneasiness. 'Look miss Rachell, two trainers!' a little blonde girl said excitedly. The teacher reached her hand to both of the boys. 'I'm Rachell, one of the teachers at the Aspertia City Trainer School. I know it might sound odd, but I promised the children they could see a real Pokemon fight today .. So, do you might to demonstrate your skills against me?'
Red and Green shared a confused look, but Green reached out for his bag. 'Sure thing! I didn't get my Gym battle anyways! I'd love to accept your challenge!' As Green sent out his Snivy, Rachell sent out a Piplup. 'Now watch very closely, children,' she said, nodding at her students. Red took a seat in the grass and watched as some of the kids played with his Timburr and Pignite. 'Please, don't mind me teaching the children, but they must learn..' Rachell said as she bowed. Green nodded. 'Children, who can tell me what Pok mon this trainer uses is called?' The same blonde girl from earlier jumped up. 'It's a Snivy, and it's a grass type!' Rachell nodded. 'Very well Yukino! And do you also know what kind of Pok mon I use?' The girl brought her finger to her lips, thinking thouroughly, but eventually shaking her head. The little boy next to her then shouted : It's a Piplup!' Rachell smiled. 'That's right, Indigo! And do you know what type Piplup is?' Indigo pressed the palms of his hands against his cheeks, closing his eyes. 'A water type?'
'Good job! So.. Who has a type advantage? Snivy, being a grass-type or Piplup, being a water-type?' Yukino threw her hand up. 'Snivy. Because water-types are weak against grass-types' Rachell nodded once more.
'Who can name types that bare/b effective against grass-types, like Snivy?'
'Flying-types!', 'Poison-types!', 'Bug-types!', 'Fire-types!', 'Ice-types!'
'Very well! And what types are effective against Water-types, like Piplup?'
'Grass-types!', 'Elektric-types!'
'So, who has the most weaknesses from both Pokemon?'
'Snivy!'
Green snickered as he saw how these little kids loved to learn about Pok mon. All the things they'd learn at school, he had to learn by doing it. He was happy these kids could start off on a journey with all there is to know about Pokemon.
Rachell then recalled her Piplup. 'I have three more Pok mon left, a Pidgey, a Combee and a growlithe. Which has a type-advantage against this trainer's Snivy?'
'Pidgey is a flying-type ..., so Pidgey!' 'No, Combee, it's a bug-type!', 'No, Growlithe, it's a fire-type!'
'Okay, I see we're not really sure about this. Let's recap the Pokemon's type-setting and weaknesses. Let's start with Pidgey. I already heard somebody saying it was a flying-type, but .. it is also a ..?'
'Normal-type!'
'Good, and Normal-types are damaged by?'
'Fighting-types!'
'Good, but Because Pidgey is also partly a flying-type it is only damaged 1/5 by fighting-moves. Now, we already know Pidgey is a dual flying-normal type. And we also know Pidgey is normally damaged by fighting-types. So let's focus on the Flying-type. What are Flying-types weak to, who knows?'
'Rock-types!' ' .. Elektric-types!' 'Ice-types!'
'Correct, so Pidgey has 3 weaknesses. Is grass-typings any one of them? No, it isn't. So, Pidgey would be a good choice. I heard someone say : Combee, because it's a bug-type, right? Okay, so what typing does damage to a bug-type?'
'Flying!' 'Rock!' 'Fire!'
'So Combee has three weaknesses, Flying, Rock and Fire-typings. So, again, no grass-type. Combee would be a good choice as well. The last one, Growlithe. Growlithe is an .. -'
'- Fire-type!'
'A fire-type, indeed. So Growlithe has a weakness against?'
'Ground-types!' 'Rock-types!' 'Water-types!'
'So, we now know that neither Pidgey, Combee nor Growlithe has a type disadvantage against a grass-type like Snivy. But, we could let our choice be influenced by the stats of our Pokemon. Pidgey needs to be trained while focussing its speed, Combee as well. Whilest Growlithe needs to be trained while focussing on its attack. So, Pidgey and Combee aren't as fast as Growlithe, but have a good attack stat, but Growlithe has better speed, but lower attack stats. So now we know this .. Who seems the best choice now?'
'Combee!' 'Pidgey!'
'Okay, so we're still not really sure who we should pick. Then lets take a closer look at Snivy. What stat does a Snivy need some work on?'
'.. Speed!'
'Right! So much like Pidgey and Combee, Snivy isn't exactly quick. When we know we don't have to worry about its speed, we have to worry about its attack. So, does it matter then how fast our Pok mon are?'
'YES!'
'And why is that?'
'Because if you use a Pokemon that is faster, you have a better chance of having more turns,'
'Wow, great! Indeed, if I'd use a Pok mon with a higher speed stat, that means I have a 79% chance that my Pokemon will attack first. So, we now know Snivy isn't fast, and we also know that Pidgey and Combee aren't fast too. So which Pok mon remains?'
'Growlithe!'
'Well done! So the best choice would be Growlithe, because it is faster than Snivy. This means that you don't always have to worry when your opponent has a Pok mon that is much stronger than yours. You can also win by relying on the speed and defense of your Pok mon. The higher the Defense of your Pokemon, the more hits it can take. The faster it is, the more it can attack the opponent. So, let's get on with the battle,'
'Growlithe, I choose you!'
Green smiled at the ground as he heard the entire lecture Rachell was giving her students, realizing how much he actually never knew, and how he never considered all these steps. He never considered the stats of his Pok mon, nor those of his opponents; and realized, by just thinking these steps through, how much easier it is to actually win or loose..
'Are you ready, trainer?' Rachell asked with a sparkle in her eyes.
Green nodded. 'I am! Let's do this!'
My Pokemon Knowledge .. God, I hope I am right about this stuff or otherwise these kids will turn out to be terrible, badly educated trainers
