Chapter 32: Number Thirteen
Number Thirteen heard the faint flap of wings at the window. He was currently in base Twenty-Four, as his ninja skills weren't nearly good enough for him to be elected for a seat in the Council of Twelve. He looked out through the newly invented weapon-and-monster-proof glass and recognized Operative Shirley's silhouette. She was banging her hands on the glass and attempting to break it.
Number Thirteen unlocked three padlocks with three keys (out of approximately 283) off of his keyring, punched in five different codes into each of the five digital pads, spun the combinations to fourteen individual combination locks, deactivated a 400-volt electric generator along with the laser security system, and pressed his thumb on the fingerpad. Then, he took a dagger and made a shallow cut on his thumb, allowing the blood to drip down onto a dna-testing monitor. It beeped, then the window (finally) slid open. Master Nikita is going a bit overboard with the security, Number Thirteen thought.
"Operative, did you plant the Mudtrap?" Number Thirteen asked the Operative, who was hovering at the window.
She nodded, tight-lipped. "Yes, Number Thirteen. All went well."
"Then return to your duties at once." he ordered.
"Understood." And with that Operative Shirley flew away.
