The weeks following seem to fly by. Jackie comes down the stairs for breakfast. She finds Zoey in the kitchen, already.

"I made pancakes," she announces.

"No pancake dance," Jackie warns.

"I worked a double last night, there will be no pancake dance."

"I cleaned out the attic."

"Why were you in the attic?"

"I have to move the girls," Jackie answers.

"Oh, so you're not planning on putting the baby in a drawer?"

"I think it's time to consider moving the girls into the attic."

"You are only eight and a half months pregnant."

"Clearly," Jackie's hands rest on top of her round stomach, as she leans against the counter, waiting for Zoey to finish the pancakes.

"You know that you actually have to buy stuff for the baby, right?"

"I know."

"But you should wait," Zoey adds.

"Until what? The cows come home?"

"Until tomorrow."

"Why? Today is Saturday. I am off, the girls are with their dad. You are also off, so you can help me move the girls into the attic."

"Maybe later."

"Why later? We can do it after breakfast."

"We have plans after breakfast."

"To do what?"

"Go places."

"Like shopping for baby stuff? You have been begging me to go for weeks."

"We'll see."

"What are you up to?"

Zoey rolls her eyes, "What makes you think that I am up to anything?"

"The tone of your voice. Plus I know you."

"You're crazy."

"And I know that you talked to Kevin weeks ago."

"Since when is that a crime? I talked to him the other day when he picked the girls up, too."

"About using the bar."

"Using the bar, for what?" Zoey raises an eyebrow.

"A baby shower."

"A bar is not a very appropriate place for a baby shower."

"Have I ever abided by the rules of normal social behavior?"

Zoey shakes her head, "Not as long as I have known you."

"So are we going to a baby shower or not?"

"That remains to be seen," Zoey lies.

Jackie rolls her eyes, "I am going to go get dressed."

"Ok."

Hours later Kevin helps Jackie, and Zoey unload the Jeep. Zoey heads to the laundry room with a bottle of dreft. She pulls off tags, and tosses all of the blankets, and clothing inside. She tosses at least a dozen different yellow, and green items into the machine. She climbs the stairs, anticipating a lecture from Jackie, about registering her for the baby shower. Zoey goes into the living room. The box with the car seat inside sits near the coffee table. There is a Moses basket laying on the coffee table, with a diaper bag inside of it. On the floor there are boxes of diapers, and wipes. Jackie lays on the couch, passed out. Without a word Zoey covers her up with a blanket. Kevin comes in the door with a few things that Zoey has requested. He briefly looks at Jackie, and then follows Zoey up the stairs.

When they reach the attic they find that it has already been cleaned, and painted. Zoey, and Kevin move the girl's furniture into the attic a piece at a time. Jackie sleeps through all of it. They work for the next several hours. Kevin heads home around five, for the night. When Jackie wakes up Zoey is sitting in front of the coffee table folding baby laundry. Jackie sits up, and looks at her.

"What are you doing?"

"Folding baby clothes."

"Where did everything else go?"

"I put it away," Zoey reveals.

"Oh."

"You know it would be much easier to buy baby stuff if you would just tell us what you are having."

"Not going to happen."

"But you know."

"You don't know that for a fact."

"I am sure that you know," Zoey argues.

"I am not going to say."

"Why not? You don't like surprises."

"I already know. It's not a surprise to me."

"I don't like surprises, either."

"Not your baby," Jackie points out.

"Point taken."

"And, unfortunately I am still going to have to go shopping."

"We can go tomorrow."

"I can handle it. You have done enough."

"Oh, I can't go anyway. I forgot, I picked up a shift tomorrow."

"I can't even remember the last time I had an entire weekend off," Jackie admits.

"Why did you take an entire weekend off?"

"As you pointed out earlier, I am eight and a half months pregnant. In six weeks, or less I am going to have a newborn, and I am completely unprepared."

"So are you going to tell Cruz?"

"No."

"Not now, or not ever?"

Jackie shrugs, "I don't know."

"It's up to you."

"Since when?"

"I get it. You don't want to share the baby. I can understand that."

"Where is this sudden change of heart coming from?"

Zoey shrugs, "I don't know, maybe I am just tired, it's been a long day."
